REVIEWS OF Leonard's Bakery IN Hawaii

Mary Tran

The malasadas are pretty great! It is a very popular spot. It was almost impossible to find parking. And the way in is quite difficult as well. However, the desserts are pretty delicious. A little sweet for my taste. But if you have a sweet tooth that needs some satisfying, this is where to be.

Gustavo Davila

The malasadas here were awesome! Keep in mind it’s highly touristy therefore there will be a line. But the food was delicious, recommend the original and cinnamon flavor. Tried the iced coffee and loved it. Highly recommend!

Billy Breeden

This place is amazing. Be prepared for a long line but let me tell you, it's worth the wait. We had the Guava, Chocolate, Macadamia, Custard and of course the Original. Guava has a little tartness. Custard is not as sweet as American custard. Very messy but soooooo good when they are warm.

HiTz

Malasadas are a Portuguese donut that is sometimes filled with fruit or custard. These bad boys are big. Go with 1 per person unless you a fat kid then maybe 2. Lines form and can make waiting 20-30 mins. Good to take on a picnic or save for late night snacks.

Huy Nguyen

The malasadas are okay. I think this place is a bit overrated. It’s reasonably price but the malasadas are super sweet. Still cool to visit though

casper x ultimate

The malasadas are the best. They come with either sugar, cinnamon sugar, and another one which i forgot. You can also get them filled with a few different fillings, from custard, macadamia, guava, and two more fillings. Recommended place to get these Portuguese donuts. Prices are from 1.30 for no filling and about 1.70 with filling. They are served warm.

Madison Alexis

Best bakery ever! I personally think the donuts are better than Krispy Kreme and that's hard to beat! It was a bit busy but we only stood in line for 15 minutes. Overall I loved it!

Chrissy

The malasadas are unforgettable. Never had something like it before. Can’t wait to go back to Hawaii and go here again! Wish I could’ve brought it home

Bialy Maven

Super delish! We had the macadamia nut malasada puff, cinnamon sugar and Li Hing malasada. Macadamia puff is the bomb. Cinnamon sugar has just the right amount of sweetness. Li Hing (supposed to be Chinese plum favor) is an acquired taste. The description is "sweet and sour" but it more like "sweet and salty." Fast and friendly service. Has on-site parking but it is tricky going in and backing out, especially in the spots that is near the entrance (vertical columns and people waiting in line).

Cameron Hwang

Must try donuts. Soft and light texture when it's hot.

K. W.

It was very moist and fluffy inside. It was delicious but the line was long and it was humid and hot inside. I paid for 4 and only got 3. =*( I should have checked before I left.

Milaris C.P

The place is super cute and the service is good but I wasn’t sold on the malasadas. The cream filling couldn’t taste more artificial. I’ve never seen light pink guava and the chocolate is funny tasting too. I’d recommend to stick to plain ones.

Bryce Matthews

Very good chewy texture. Flavorful fillings. Lots of sugar. Line out the door and no seating. Definitely bring your self-control with you.

Pascal Marquis

Hummm! That was tasty and fresh. They give it to you only as soon as they are made! Really amazing! Thank you!

Blok Casting

very good would come back for the malasadas they do it right and very fresh

Jamie Michael

I really like sharing positive experiences with others and pretty much keep quiet if I have a poor experience. We had heard this bakery was highly recommended so, we tried. The Malasadas were rather tuff, very little coating, poor quality coffee, long wait, and the price was high. We threw out our coffees (not worth drinking) and gave our entire box of Malasadas to another family waiting in line. Even my 8 yo tossed his Malasada in the garbage. Best brewed coffee we found on our trip was at the Macadamia farm on the North Shore. Purchased 3 lbs to take home. Incredible! The BEST Malasadas we found were at Zippy's. They were delicious, fresh, well coated, and the price was really inexpensive.

David Syracuse

If you come to Hawaii, you must come here! Delicious, homemade treats fresh throughout the day. The parking lot is small and frequently full, sonconsider walking or taking public transport.

Greg Loukides

Very good but only get what your eating now. Have some later or reheating not so good.

Ethan Ducre

Leonard's Bakery is an iconic Portuguese bakery that features Malasadas. Malasadas are doughnuts without holes that are covered in granulated sugar. Their Malasada Puffs are filled with a flavored filling. There is always a wait in the morning with a line that varies 3 to 15 minutes. All of the Malasadas come out fresh as the6re always made ONLY AFTER YOU ORDER THEM - FRESH. I was fortunate to stay thru the end of the month and was able to experience two different "monthly flavors" Their merchandise is high quality... As an example... Their shirts are thick and the silkscreen printing is heavy. Wearing my shirt as a tourist stimulated various shop keepers and servers (who thought I was an employee) to solicit barter deals from me. Apparently, they're good enough to use as currency! Tip: Order a Malasada Puff and then squeeze all of the filling back out of it. It will pleasantly taste of the filling without giving you diabetes.

C S

Incredible malasadas! Try the cinnamon sugar in addition to the original style!

Dana Lutton

The most delicious donuts I've ever eaten

Working Family Adventures

Maybe over hyped but i think you still gotta do it. Go early. Eat it while it's still hot. Staff was awesome with everyone ordering. The custard one was my favourite and I wouldn't even day I'm a fan but was excellent from here!

Hidetoshi Tokuda

Awesome malasadas freshly made! -1 because of the looking line most of the time. I visited at 6AM on weekday and was able to park and order pretty quick.

Big Bad Brad

Make sure you check your donuts before you leave. Some were not filled with cream That was disappointing. I couldn't tell which was which from custard to coconut to macadamia

Andrew Nelson

Good stuff! Pretty busy, but worth the wait!

TY Y.

Soo glad my husband and I were able to stop by for the famous malasadas! There was a lineup when we arrived but not a long wait at all. We tried all 6 flavors including their flavor of the month and boy, were they ever so delicious!

Matt Simpson

Despite the long line, which was even long on a weekday at 8:30am, the delights from this bakery are well worth waiting for. The custard filled specialities are the best in my opinion but all the donuts and cookies are excellent. Parking can be tough so be prepared to circle or park down the street and walk back.

Justin Palmer

Although the line gets long, the wait is well worth it. I love the pineapple, guava, haupia and mango fillings. It's heaven in a "ball". Awesome place with even better pastries.

Gregory Montjoy

This is a MUST stop for any foodie! Their malasadas are AMAZING! They prepare your order fresh when you place it, and hand you a hot box of amazing goodness!

Danielle Breon

This is a most go to place if you visit. They have great bakery items that are worth the wait!!

william Burgess

Must visit lines are quick. Be warned the dough they use is heavy and the staff are trying to get everyone swerved so don't really say much if this is off putting to you please know you were warned.

Bill Whaley

Best pastries I've ever had... For sure worth the wait in line

Austin Santistevan

Lenard's is amazing!! My wife and I are visiting Hawaii for the first time together, and this was one of the places we had to stop, and I am so glad that we did! We each got a malasada and they're delicious! They're like crispy on the outside and fluffy pillows on the inside!! The service was fantastic, so friendly, and we even bought t shirts to sport around as well! Very awesome place, would recommend to anyone!

Jess Ma

Wow, just wow, simply amazing donuts. Got 6 between my husband and I thinking that's more than enough, but absolutely destroyed them... Very reasonably priced! This is one of the best kind of making-yourself-happy foods. :)

Tina Au

If you go at night on a weekend... well its going to be crowded with tourist. I recommend going during the day so you bet the crowd. The flavors are good. I recomend the custard malasada.

Andrew Varis

Unbelievably tasty malasadas. The sweet cinnamon and softness of a donut, but adding a hint of mochi-like chewiness (this is the cinnamon sugar malasadas)

Roman Mikolyants

So delicious stuff in here!!! So goooood!!!! BUT...Please, change coffee lids! Can’t really close it after opening! Coffee is all over the car!

Tommy Tow

This place is amazing. If you come to Oahu, you must try the malasadas in all the flavors. They have original (most popular), cinnamon sugar and hi ling which its a local flavor (sweet & sour), cream fill ones from custard, chocolate, coconut, grava and flavor of the month (pineapple) when we visited. It's serviced warm. The line can be long, but they move fairly quickly and it's well worth the wait. You wouldn't be disappointed. Oh, they also sell pies and other pastries, too.

A 22

These are delicious. Definitely lived up to the hype and well worth the line up.

Michelle Ferrell

Yummy, but way too long of lines. Don't go at 10am on a Saturday!

Keiko H

These were delicious. It's up to you if you want to wait in line, though. If there is a short line, you MUST do it. Plus that sign...classic!

Kevin ONeill

Calling these donuts makes me feel like I'm insulting them. Even if the line is long I recommend you still wait. You won't be disappointed.

Mercury Retrograde

I've traveled all over the world and THESE ARE THE BEST YOU WILL EVER TRY!!!

Franklin Souza

What can I say? It's Leonard's!!! If you've seen the crowds then you understand. Hot & fresh...no ka oi! Best malasada in town!

Ari Kloehn

Worth the walk from our hotel (1.3 miles) and worth the wait in line. We tried the original and the cinnamon - both were very tasty and served warm.

Hampton Trigg, II

For Friday at 1pm, we were very fortunate to find parking, be second third in line. Order was made fresh, and was very tempting. We were driven 20-25 minutes to the airport where my wife and I enjoyed two of our half dozen malasada selections I ordered 2 original, 2 cinnamon and 2 puffs - 1 dobash (chocolate) & 1 guava filled.

Mark T

Had my first Malasada... Yup, there good! Went late in the evening and the wait wasn't too bad. Ordered the puffs (with filling) and they were made fresh to order, but worth waiting for!

Tim Trerise

Leonard's bakery is justifiably famous! We went here and was able to get several of their specialty items. They were all very good, but I suggest that you eat them hot! That's when they're the best. It's a problem to find parking, and there's sometimes a line, but if you're patient you can get in and out of there quickly.

Jeannie Williams

Served hot and freshly made on the spot! Great flavors! Best on the island!

TutuDeb Melendrez

Good eats...can't go to Hawaii & not go to Leonards.

Matt Lingerfelt

So worth the wait in line. But it's not really that long of a wait. I personally recommend getting a variety to share so you can try different flavors, as the malasadas are big enough to share between two people, if you have friends or family.

Irene Gates

I love the malasadas we went after having dinner and surprisingly it wasnt that busy, maybe 10min wait, had the custard and guava both amazing... wish i could take some home but they are not as good as when warm so instead i got the softest ladyfingers I've ever had.

jaime guerrero

Some think it's overrated. By far the most delicious sweets any one can have. Obviously very busy, but well worth every cent and time. Be aware of parking across the street.

levi hudrea

Bring your ID if you're using your card and enjoy some delicious malasadas.

aaron prather

Sadly, I only get to visit Hawaii once a year. Leonard's is always on my to do list. There is usually a line, be prepared to wait. Definitely worth the wait. The pink box always makes me smile. Friendly and helpful employees.

Greg Voss

Delicious filled donuts. They have another name but they are heavily filled fried donuts. They have good flavoring and a crispy outside. The line gets long quickly so get there early and take pictures after you get them. Definetly stands up to their reputation. Half dozen and 2 milks, and a bag of ground coffee was just under 30 dollars.

Brett Lau

For a great malasada, no place does it better than Leonard's. Can't beat a fresh malasada hot out of the fryer. If this is your first time start with the original. Don't just order one, trust me, you'll want another. Lines are long during peak hours but it moves quickly. Sit, eat, and enjoy.

Pedro Ramirez

I’m only giving them 4 stars because I thought the malasadas with cream filling were terrible. The Original were delicious though. Hot and ready every time. Delicious with a glass of milk. Definitely worth a visit (order the original).

Leslie Liu

If you're in Waikiki without a car, check Postmates for delivery! There aren't always drivers nearby but if there are, it's totally worth not going/waiting yourself. They came in 15 minutes later than the scheduled window, but still very, very warm. Yum.

Paul

The malasadas were yummy. Queue was out the door at 9am but worth the wait.

Joshua D

The line takes too long, but worth the wait.

barry keith

I like donuts better. I must've not gotten the "special" sugar on mind that everyone else got that had either crack or marijuana in it for this place to be rated so high.

PaulDoVideos

Simply incredible and has been consistently great for years now.

Vivien Kiss

We have been here couple of times...this place is always busy, morning noon evening Everything is so fresh they fry it when u order it I love the original, custard and the guava too

morgan lapsley

The best place to get some malasadas before a road trip around the island

Julia A. Melzer

Great great great bakery! A must stop when in Waikiki! There was a little line but the pastry was hot, fresh as can be and melted in my mouth! The guava flavor was messy so I’d recommend the regular unless you want filling all over. A must visit!

Greg Watson

Very unique and tasty Hawaiian bakery. Was recommended by a friend before we left. A must do if visiting Honolulu.

Barbara S

Would recommend stopping by at least once. Good for those with a sweet tooth.

Vicente Panizo

Great sweet bread and donuts! There is always a line, so don’t be discouraged. The wait is worth it!

Ryan Roberts

This is not a donut. This is a malasada. And after having one, you will never be the same again. We read the reviews and thought "how good could this really be. People are blowing it out of proportion." I'm happy to eat my words... and another maIasada. This place isn't incredible. It's even better.

sandra colwell

So delicious! Fluffy masaladas, my personal favorites are the sugar and the local favorite- sweet and sour. Also tried the chocolate, guava, coconut, custard and macadamia. Nice sized and filled generously. Goes well with the coffee they sell. Quick service.

Ianko J

Love the place! For anyone trying for the first time, I highly recommend the original!

Tuan Tran

This place is a must should you be in Honolulu. Parking may often be full and difficult. However the quality of the malasadas are something you cannot afford to pass up. The original malasada is the best in my opinion.

geeidunno .

I usually just go to the Leonard's trucks around the island but sense I'm home on vacation for the first time in years we decided to visit the actual shop. Small lot was packed and they were very obviously busy as you'd expect them to be but we were still served quickly and were in and out in about 10 minutes with our dozen box. Still as delicious as I remember ♡

John K

Sometimes popular places don’t live up to the hype, but Leonard‘s bakery does. The Portuguese donuts are very good. I’m more a fan of the plain ones that aren’t filled with a flavored cream. I enjoyed the cinnamon sugar one the most. I also think that other products are very solid as well. They stay open late and continue to make hot fresh donuts even at 9:50 at night.

kirby daniel

This is a must have stop on your adventures throughout O’ahu. We came across this and now we can’t stop coming in. They have the best malasadas we have found on the island so far and definitely recommend making this a quick stop to get them while they’re fresh. They also have some of the food trucks around the island too so keep an eye out for them.

Branden Brown

Really good food and coffee. Parking is basically nonexistent even at 7am. Could probably park across the street at Safeway and walk a block or two, though. The lines are really long at 7am as well so be prepared to wait. But it's worth it.

Rory Rusinek

Visited this place while on vacation and it was one of our must stops. We were not disappointed by the food, a bit of a line when we showed up mid Friday afternoon but not horrible. As the pictures show we got two of each flavor which we only recommend if you can eat them all that day. They are best warm, ok the next day, after that they should likely be tossed as the creamy filling soaks into the dough and not tasty that way. So tip is only buy what you can eat in a few hours. Will definitely stop by next time in Honolulu.

A A

The malasadas were hot and delicious. But we tried coconut, custard, and chocolate filled ones and every filling was very disappointing . definitely stick with the original or cinnamon sugar! If you're going to offer fillings at least work on the quality of the....

Khalil B

Amazing! The malasadas are so light and fluffy. After trying the filled and plain versions I would say the filled ones are a bit heavy. Delicious, but heavy. For some reason my eyes are always bigger than my stomach here and I always over do it. The treat is worth the wait.

Technical Tactical

Pretty amazing . I was told don't get the filled malasadas but the macadamia filling was great. Crazy line ,pretty sweaty inside and must have your ID if using debit card. Good luck parking

Mercedes Fagundes

The GO TO whenever I have friends and family visiting. There is seldom a long wait (do NOT get intimidated by the crowd by the front door!) The only thing my nephew wanted to do/see while in Hawaii was eat a malasada from Leonard's!!!

James White

Be advised, the parking will be congested, the lines are long and you will want to comeback! These delicious pastries are well worth the wait and headache. They’re perfectly fluffy and the cream filled malasada are wonderful. 100% recommend trying!

Ayana McNair

Busy but still quick and friendly service. Got the plain malasada w cinnamon, piping hot and super tasty.

Angela Brogan

Best darn malasadas I've ever had. Well the only malasadas I've ever had, but the best donut like things I've ever had. I've been craving them since my last visit to Oahu!

GBF

Malasadas are delicious. Parking lot is crowded and leads to fender benders with rental car operators. So choose your parking carefully.

Cody Grant

Cool little place that's a "must go-to" when doing research. Great marketing, cool logo, cool pink box/container they come in, but honestly I've had better donuts. They were very heavy/thick dough. Maybe not my thing or maybe people are making a bigger deal than they are, or maybe we got there on a bad day. My suggestion... Go and visit if you're near the area, but don't go out of your way.

Julia C

Skip the filled donuts, the cremes are flavorless and slimy. The plain, li hing, and cinnamon are so good tho! Hot and fresh, hard to beat.

Charles Naut

Wow malasadas here were better than I imagined. I finished two in less than five minutes. They only make them when you order them so you get them nice and warm but it takes some time.

Ashlie Dao

This is personal preference, but I have always liked light and fluffy doughnuts. Think Krispy Kreme. This was too dense of a dough and just not my favorite. Definitely famous brand, and I'm glad I tried it to see what the hype is about. I wouldn't get this again.

Tom West

Oooffff!!! Get the fresh Malasadas!! They are a taste experience like no other!! We hit this place four times in seven days!!! It is THAT good!! Plan on a long line and tough parking. But, it REALLY is worth it!!!

Tony

Live up to the hype? I do truly believe it is all about the hype. Let's be real, I would of have never went to this place if it wasn't hyped. With that said, I did still find the Malasadas pretty good. The puffs filled with cream is a good combination. The Malasadas are not too sweet surprisingly. You can definitely eat more than one without having your teeth fall out.

Nils Geisse

It is a famous location in Japan and other places because it was the location of a popular movie.

Tanya Brown

Line goes quick. Fresh and hot. This is a must try while on Oahu. I like the simple sugar best followed by macadamia filled then pineapple. Don't worry we split them, I didn't eat each one whole.

Cash Simpson

This place is a delicious slice of heaven! I never had malasadas before and had heard about this place from watching YouTube videos. It did not disappoint! They have lots of other things there besides malasadas but if you haven't tried one you you must. The line is usually long but it goes pretty quick. Do not underestimate the size of these things, they are big. And full of flavor! I tried the regular, cinnamon sugar and the custard and only got through the custard on my first try so come prepared to eat!

Tony Joseph

One of the best places to get malasadas. So warm and fresh. It is great any time of the day as a breakfast or snack.

Alex Fröhlich

I tried the Malasadas and I honestly have to tell you it's probably the best you can find anywhere. Fresh and self made, still hot when you get your order.

H T

These are AMAZING! Wait in line and get a variety of fillings in the malasadas.... perfect dessert! Or breakfast...or dinner.

Eric Goldberg

Malasadas were good, but did not live up to the hype. Service was quick. Not worth driving through traffic to get there if you're not already in Honolulu.

Danielle Peszynski

Leonard's Malasadas are the best!! Have to get one at least once or twice every visit home to Hawaii!!

Fay Hall

Very yummy! Highly recommend this famous eatery! We will probably visit again during our stay.

angel andino

Super delicious....grab a dozen, thank me later

Brooke Hall

Always so fresh and so delicious. Piping hot, fresh malasadas... is there anything better?! The haupia (coconut) is always a must. The custard and dobash (chocolate) are always great. It’s fun to try the flavor of the month as well! You can’t go wrong. It’s usually really busy but very much worth the wait. Every time family or friends visit, I always take them here and they always leave wanting more!

Susan Sisco-Berry

This is a Have-To stop while on Oahu, but be sure to allow plenty of time as the line often extends out and around the building. Their products are fresh and delicious, and the fillings are incredible!

Lance Eliazar

Da best! For decades the malasadas has been a treat for anyone wanting something different than a donut or pastry. And then Leonard's stepped it up and started putting fillings inside! Haven't seen the mobile malasadas' truck in years, though. I miss that. But I will gladly stand in line for even just one malasadas!

Angela Baker

Everything was amazing, all baked goods and coffee. I wish this was located in Waikiki so we could have gone here every morning of our visit! The line also moves surprisingly fast.

Gregory Feltman

The malasala is to die for. Expect a bit of a wait as it does get busy and parking is extremely limited so you may have to park and walk. The Malasala is made fresh to order which is why the line can get a bit long. My favorite was the regular sugar coated.

Julia Yomes

I love this place very tasting and good customer service

Majury A

When I think of Hawaii, this is not the first thing that comes to mind. Yes it's a delicious treat mainly because it's fresh, but there's no need to wait in a super long line for it. Try and go when it's not busy. Luckily I went when it wasn't busy, but their service is pretty fast. There was also a food truck located in the Wallgreen parking lot close to Koko Head which was not nearly half as busy.

Winston Neely

Great Hawaiian destination. Locals and tourists love it.

Meghean Turner

I've never had anything like these but they were good. I liked the ones rolled in sugar. Also they're pretty big. Bigger than I expected them to be

Warren Mah

Bought a box of 6 to share with the family... and didn't really share to be honest

Frank Roy

Parking can be a little tricky as it is very restricted and there is always A LOT of people there! But oh god it is worth it! There you will eat the best Malasadas in the whole world trust me!! Very quick service and the employees are very kind, patient and helpful! I highly recommend.

Npauj Xyooj

The line can be long its well worth it!

Michelle Tapales-Iacob

Good Portuguese doughnuts (malasadas) eat it while it's fresh and warm. Had the original, cinnamon sugar, haupia (coconut), dobash (chocolate), and guava filling.

S Velez

There was a line when we arrived but it was moving so quickly that we didn't mind the wait. We also were able to see all the pastries they sell before getting to the counter. We purchased half a dozen malasadas. They all were so delicious! We also bought shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate, an apple pastry called an apple square, a chocolate cupcake with an amazingly delicious frosting, and some other sweets. Well worth the trip!!!

Evan Iveson

Hot, fresh and delicious! The malasadas here are the best! They make them fresh in front of you. The staff are courteous! This is a very busy place, expect a line, they're in high demand. They have a food truck (or at least they did when we were there) on the East side of the island in Hawaii Kai.

Iva Bruni

Old school bakery. Don’t expect a fancy place but expect excellent malasadas! My suggestion: Pick a box with every flavor there is and enjoy them while they are warm. They are cloudy and will melt in your mouth. One of a kind on this island.

Brett R

Always freshly made. Eat them while their hot and don’t keep them for the next day as the sugar dissolves into the dough making them not so nice.

Noah Burke

While there is almost always a line it is always worth it! Definitely get both the flavored malasadas along with some of the plain sugar ones, do not recommend getting cinnamon, doesn’t click with the flavors as you think it would

Carey Yip

Excellent doughnut filled pastry. Six different flavors . Very popular place with lines out the door. We got kiwi, macadamia nut, coconut, vanilla custard, guava and chocolate. Kiwi was the flavor of the month. Hot and fresh is how you get it in the box.

Miguel

Great place! Great pastries! Worth the wait!

S B

Delicious fresh malasadas, warm and filled with sweet creamy chocolate or coconut (they had ran out of custard the day we visited). The store is small and was crammed with customers, slightly confusing to work out the ordering process (order at one cash register, then move to the second cash register with a ticket to pay for your order, then move down again to collect your order). In such a tight space with so many people it was confusing but the staff managed everyone efficiently. The cupcakes looked amazing but the frosting was a bit too solid, and had that mock cream flavour rather than the sweet buttercream frosting I was expecting.

James Norton

Staff was nice. Malasadas were amazing. Well when they were hot. Had one the next morning and eh... Be prepared for a line. Worth the stop.

Heidi Adia

A MUST IF YOU ARE VISITING HONOLULU. Your brother, mother and long lost friend probably knows of this place. As they should. The best malasadas I’ve tried in Hawaii and they are Known for it. We all ordered half a dozen each to try the different flavours thinking they were small - no, they are typical donut-sized. I ate 3-4/6 that day because it’s freshly baked and only best eaten the day of (gets stale the next day). Personal favourites would be the Sugar & Cinnamon, Chocolate and Macadamia filling. I missed out but my friend raved about the Coconut filling (very light flavour) and the Guava filling. Whenever I think of Hawaii now, this is definitely one of the things I miss the most. I will be back some day!!

Darrell Stewart

If you're on Oahu this is a must go place. Grab some malasada's. You won't be disappointed.

Douglas Chan-Wing

Good donuts. I'd stick with the original

Keanne Murray

I tried the guava donut and having a warm donut is always nice, but I wish the guava was more present in this cream filled experience. Same was said about the watermelon (flavor of the month). If you like sugar covered, warm donuts- worth trying this place. If you like donuts with a bang of flavor- probably worth skipping.

Courtney Phillips

I heard so many people talking about the malasadas but they were just okay. Yes, a yummy cheap treat but I wouldn't go out of my way again to get them.

Anthony Knight

So glad we stopped here during our trip to Hawaii. The malasadas were warm and fresh. It was super busy with a line going out the door, but the wait time was short and the staff were great. This is a must do if you are in Honolulu.

Yvette Torres

Loved this bakery. It's a small place with lots of people, but the service is quick. The malasadas (portuguese doughnuts) were delicious. I had one there and took a couple to go, eating them fresh and warm is definitely best.

Russ Sumida

Known for their malasadas which are great, but we went for the Lady Fingers which are hard to find.

Don Xayavongsy

Pretty damn good! I probably didn't need to buy a dozen but I wanted to try all the flavors. They are the best when eaten fresh , not so much a few hours later.. definitely stop and get some if you on the island.

Joe Eskew

By far the best breakfast! The Malasadas melt in your mouth...

Brenda Chavez

When my husband and I saw them recommended on YouTube by Matt’s Travel Tips we definitely put them on our list of places to check out. We were very pleased by the service and the kindness of their employees. The Malasadas were so tasty and worth every penny. Definitely can’t wait to go back to Hawaii and get more! :)

Anne

There are no words to describe how delicious these malasadas were! My friends were saying, we have to go, they're amazing, and so we did. We ordered a mix, but my favorite was the custard. Omg, really awesome!

Johnathan Szwech

Yummy, not much else to say. Make sure you visit.

James Castillo

Best malasadas in the islands. If you haven't tried them it's like a light fluffy ball of goodness. Try the puffs with filling. So "ono" (delicious as the locals call it). Line is worth the wait

Parvathi Shalov

Delicious Malasadas! They are so soft and light. Best of all, they are not sugary sweet. The service was quick and courteous, as well! Definitely lives up to the hype.

Amanda Lee

Never had a malasada before trying it at Leonard’s! There was a short line when we went to visit after coming back from a day at Pearl Harbor. We decided to get one of each of the regular unfilled malasadas and one guava malasada. Our favorite was the guava one because while the malasada dough was hot, the guava inside was cool and made it easier to eat faster. Following the lead of others, we ate them as soon as we finished paying for them outside the store. While outside, we spotted a rooster! What a fun experience.

Leonard’s is the best malasada anywhere. Hands down. Don’t go anywhere else. Just drive to Leonard’s, wait in line, get the regular ones, eat em hot. Unless you got ac, they don’t do well left over. Oh, and try go right before closing. We went about 10 til closing. One person in front of us. Ordered a dozen. They gave us 16. Sixteen!!! Yas!!! Thanks, unko!!!

Awesome, as always. Been years since I enjoyed this. Fresh off the plane from mainland, for some fresh Malasadas.

Marvin Baker

Great service. Delicious food.

Amazing clouds of goodness. Being so popular, the lineups can be dreadful. They also screwed up my order but I didn't feel like waiting another 40 minutes to get it fixed.

Raissa Lugendo

Quick service. Great coffee. The ladies here will take some time to explain to you what everything is if you are a tourist, which is 89% of the population here in Honolulu. The malasadas are really good but the cream filled are a bit disappointing. They are more of cream based than fruit based filling. But if that sounds good to you, run don’t walk to Leonard’s bakery. They also have muffins, croissants, ono turnovers, sweet bread and trinkets which make great souvenirs!

Best malasadas, well worth the wait

Shaun Kellogg

Warm and soft and so good. I had no wait, we walked right in and got our warm puffs of goodness.

Best thing I‘ve ever ate

I'm not normally a sweet tooth but this place had so many reviews and people lining up outside that we had to try it. The walk from Waikiki beach is not too bad. The wait is short. We had the original, cinnamon, chocolate and custard. Love the original and chocolate options. A nice tip we receiced from a passing car while we were eating is to not close the lid which makes the malasadas soggy. Amazing, and was still really good when we took away to eat for dinner.

Some of the best baked goods I've ever had! I tried the cinnamon sugar, custard, and dosha (aka chocolate) and all were spectacular! A must have when visiting the Waikiki area! I wish I could take them home to my family.

They have some bomb malasadas. So freaking delicious. They are light and airy and have a great flavor.

Leonard's is a Hawaiian staple and a must stop. No joke...these malasadas will make you have a life changing experience! I love the little mobile shops too! The last few times the mobile locations have been tastier than the brick and mortar location for some reason.

Susan Stolle

It is a fantastic place worth the effort to get there . The Masaladas are divine.

Alyssa Allen

A MUST STOP! Our favorites were the original and the cinnamon sugar malasadas. The line was long but we got our order really fast and they were fresh and warm. So tasty. Don’t miss this stop in Honolulu!

Beth Mullen

We went there to experience the malasadas since it is recommended by everyone. It is okay. We won't be visiting this bakery if we return to Oahu. We tasted every type of stuffed malasadas they had, including the flavor of the month, watermelon. None of them made us want to take more than one bite. We ended up throwing them away after we had a bite of each flavor. They aren't bad, but they certainly aren't to die for. You can get these via door dash for $6 delivery if you don't want to walk. If you see a line, don't worry it moves quickly. Again, worth it to taste once but won't have them again... If you don't make it here on your trip to Oahu, you aren't missing much.

Possibly the best donut I've ever had. And I have QVM in Melbourne hot jam donuts around the corner from home

Alan Houghton

Walked for ages to get there, big queues, but their donuts are amazing.

These pastries are out of this world. I didn't believe it when my wife and kids insisted to stop and eat. Glad I did stop. Also glad at the same time I am way tooooo far from this place.
