10/10 donuts.I had the Poi,Orange,Lemon Glaze,and Strawberry donuts.I loved all of them.The glaze was SO good,if this isn't a donut,then what else is?Wasn't crowded at all (I ate here at around 9:30)and it was very clean.No long lines. So if you are visiting Honolulu,Hawaii,I recommend you eat here on your trip. My Dear Donuts

Simple and amazing. Malasada galore, from chocolate, custard, plain, sugar, jelly, and coconut cream... Jelly pastries and so much more. I can't eat here often but there staff is friendly and they open early. The line grows fast for a reason. Paying cash is the fastest way, get a dozen your family will be pleased, if you get one or two you will just end up coming back.

Poi doughnuts are so good that Krispy Kreme is starting to shake in their boots. Also the only poi my mainland friends will eat. I prefer these doughnuts because of the crisp outside and soft inside. Bakery lines can be a bit long but they go fast and the pastries are worth the wait. If your wanting malasadas either get there really early when they are hot or go to Leonard’s. Getting there early will also make it less likely they will sell out of the poi doughnuts before you arrive.

Everything we tried there was excellent and we are particular about our baked goods. We especially enjoyed the poi malsada with the coconut filling! We really wanted to try the poi donuts but they had sold out before we had gotten there so you might need to go really early to try them.

This is another local hotspot. They open super early and close early so be sure to come early for your poi malasadas. The donuts were good but I didn’t get the taro flavor, aside from the slight purple color, you wouldn’t know it was taro. Great donuts nonetheless and friendly staff.

They open early on the morning. My sister and I walked in to a warm welcome and greeting from the staff. There was one in particular whom stood out. She made us feel very welcomed and immediately took our large order for our church congregation. We had requested if she could cut the pastries into bite sized pieces and she had no problem doing it for us. I believe her name was to the likes of Jane or Jaime or Jay. She also explained the ingredients in certain items, also mentioning that the custard is made with vanilla pudding.(which I find yummy). It was such a success at church, everyone enjoyed the delicious pastries. It was my first time there and it won't be my last. Thanks to a friends recommendation, I look forward to being a loyal customer and will definitely recommend this establishment.

Oh my goodness - deliciousness beyond WORDS!!! A must stop- come early. Staff was so helpful explaining selections. The selection was so amazing. Make sure to try the poi treats. Parking is challenging but worth the challenge. They do have two ten minute spots in front. Remember to take a number when you arrive.

This place is legendary since its days on school street. New location is well organized and brightly lit. Make sure to get a ticket so they can call your number to serve you. Arrive early daily else you may not be able to get the local favorites of either the poi malasada, strawberry malasada, strawberry cream cheese danish, regular glazed donut and long johns. Prices are really affordable so you can get a lot for your money. They also sell canned/bottled milk, water, juices. Pre-order the day before if you have a large order, ordering for Friday's or during holidays. Ask them to foil line if you .ca not pick up first thing I the morning or need to gift so that the oil/sugar does not soak the box. Let them know if you plan to take this to the neighbor islands and they will pack accordingly. Open 7 days a week and they take cash and credit card. Plan your order by the number of donuts per box so they can get you the right size. My favorite is the moist banana bread, poi malasada, danishes and regular glazed.

MUST MUST VISIT. If visiting the islands, it's on the way to Waikiki minutes from the airport in a nice clean shopping center. Never came across an item I didn't like. From their glazed donut to the poi donut! Mouth is watering as I type!!

Kamehameha Bakery is well known for their popular assortments of scrumptious pastries, which includes the everyday popular poi and strawberry glazed donuts. Open really early am, first come first served, very delicious and some treats are less than a dollar. Big bang for your buck business. O'yeah!

The last time I visited Kamehameha (they were in a different location) for the poi donuts, they were amazing. This time, not so much. I came in on a Saturday at around 1 pm. I was afraid they would be sold out but they had plenty left. The strawberry ones were actually sold out. I guess people opted for those instead of poi that day and for a good reason. This batch of poi tasted a bit stale, like it was at least a day or two old. It also didn't have that deep purple hue that it normally does. Maybe they were having an off day? I'm willing to come back again though. Maybe I'll try early morning next time.

I've had Kamehameha Bakery on my bookmarks for a long time after researching for bakeries on Yelp. The reason - the poi doughnut. I love poi. I love doughnuts. So I had to have one. I actually had a poi doughnut from another bakery, and it was good. But the one at Kamehameha Bakery, imo, was superior because of its texture and glaze. It's fluffy and airy, and the glaze ties it all together. I feel the poi is there for color, but it does taste different than a regular doughnut that I can't describe. All I can tell you is you got to go there and try it for yourself. You won't regret it. We also got two other pastries, which were coconut based. One was basically pan de coco, and the other was a haupia malasada. Both excellent, and were very good for breakfast. I was really only there for the poi doughnut, but once I told my parents I would pay, they added more to try! It's a small bakery, and it's best to get it to go. Remember to take a number inside. They do take credit cards, but I believe there is a minimum. Best to bring cash anyway.

I just can't tell you how good Kamehameha Bakery is. Located at 1284 Kalani Street D 106, they are always friendly they're happy and always able to answer your questions. The donuts and baked goods are fantastic and are made daily with love and aloha. It's a very popular location for locals as well as Travelers. They offer additional packaging if the products will be leaving out of state and traveling elsewhere. Each time I come and visit Hawaii I always stop at Kamehameha Bakery

I had seen reviews of this bakery and thought we should try it out. I'm glad we took the time to find it. It's definitely a bit off the beaten path and harder to find. But the cinnamon bun and donuts were so tasty. I didn't get a malasada because I didn't even want to compare them to Leonard's. And truth be told, they were sold out of their signature haupia one. The place opens at an insane hour, so things can sell out fast. If you have your eye on a particular goodie, try calling in an order. A few people were picking up so it can be done. Also, don't forget to grab a number right when you walk in. It's a busy place!

Great local bakery. I had their poi donut a few years ago and fell in love, but my last visit the donut was pretty dry and not nearly as purple.... but I also tried the strawberry version and that was delicious and moist! You can see the difference between the two in the photo. So not sure what happened to the poi batch... customer service left a little to be desired. Wish they had signs in front of all the different pastries so I wouldn’t have to annoy them by asking what they were!

Love this place if only for the glazed poi donuts. Those things are absolutely killer. They come in strawberry and orange too but the regular poi can't be beat. Lots of other options too but I can never fender more than the poi donuts. Friendly staff, relatively quick, they sometimes run out of the popular items so get there early if you need something specific.

Really neat local bakery. Open early, but also busy early. Reasonable prices and lots of options. One downside is that they have a huge selection with nothing labeled. So there is lots of pointing and guessing between you and the servers. Somewhat of a language barrier there too. I would recommend having some idea of what you want, or bring ready to feel a little awkward as you point at pastries.
