This Bakery is classified in the category of French restaurant.
Good was great! Service was quick. Nice place to grab a quick lunch.
Popped in for lunch with the wife and two little boys. Very helpful staff and quick service. You get a free cookie with the kids meals, so my 4 year old was all about that. They have a couple of french options on the menu like the croque monsieur. And the tables are small like a Paris bistro.
Came for dinner with my boyfriend. Dinner and service were absolutely amazing. Will definitely be coming back!
Excellent food. Best coffee. Great service. Very consistent. Never a bad experience.
Great service and food
Nice, place and location, nice atmosphere, it was my first time, everyone as for Michael, he helped me a lot, he has great recommendations.
You've got to check out Sugar Cakes at Marietta square. The food and service are great. The staff is friendly and attentive. The staff are always making sure the restaurant stays clean and the customers are happy. The owner is always onsite and he is always interacting with the customers. The restaurant closes at 3:00PM, because the focus is ensuring that the customer's overall experience is exceptional and there is work life balance for his employees. Please don't forget to order dessert and / or pastry. The deserts are delicious. I have not been disappointed.
Great food for reasonable prices. Every breakfast item we tried was so good. Definitely recommend!
Pastry shelves are scarce, food tastes microwaved, no one knows how to create a cup of coffee.
Arrived well before 1:30 PM and when we were finally spoken to they told us they couldn't do any of the brunch foods. So I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you want to be ignored, get your hopes up for the few things that look good on the menu to be told they can't serve you.
Food was great. I had the florentine it was tasty
Always a good experience. The latte, unsweetened, was perfectly made and not at all bitter.
Love it really nice people with good food
Went for Sunday brunch and had the Creme Brulee French Toast. The food was good and the service was attentive.
Amazing quiche and crepes!!
Brunch and the coffee were delicious . Even though we had a thirty minute wait, I am eager to go back.
This place was such a pleasure. A hidden gem. The macaroni and cheese is to die for, the grilled vegetables awesome, the crab cakes were not Baltimore style but they passed, the chicken skewers were amazing and the cake super moist. Overall a wonderful atmosphere, very great service. Again a hidden gem in Marietta, wish it were closer to me. A good hangout spot.
A beautiful Saturday morning to sit outside for brunch! After dropping your fur baby off with us come on down and enjoy! They are the busiest place on square Saturday mornings!
The Southern Hospitality breakfast is my favorite item on their menu. Its location on the Square makes it a convenient place to eat and enjoy the sights.
The food here is amazing definitely 5 stars.
Great food and excellent service. Just a bit noisy on Saturday morning. Eggs Benedict and crab cakes were interesting, waffle was fantastic.
The eclairs that we got were very good. The Bavarian creme in them was so light and airy yet sweet and delicious. Excellent chocolate coating that made the whole thing pop. Thanks.
Great service, delicious food. The hosts were very professional and attentive.
Delicious breakfast, friendly staff. I'm coming back!
Fun place for brunch on a weekend. Try the mushroom soup it iz delish
The seafood risotto was outstanding. Service was excellent. Great ambiance. Loved it.
Such divine delicious menus! Fresh, and unique offerings. Quaint, lovely atmosphere. Best chicken salad sandwich around! Can't sing enough praises!
Fast, friendly service, and a huge, delicious bacon and turkey club sandwich with fries and a pickle spear for only $8.00.!
Its was delicious and refreshing!! I paid for it later, my stomach was hurting soo bad afterwards and thats all i had to eat that day, so i know it was the food, could have been the mayo.
Excellent food and service! Shrimp and grits we're delicious.
So grateful to find this place! I found comfort for my body and my spirit. The food was perfect and the people were friendly!
Very nice place on Marietta square. Food and service excellent. Can't ask for more.
Party of 8, they were able to accommodate without issues. Everything came out in a timely manner. Very good food and service. Will definitely return
During my Family & Missionary travels, we always dine here for delicious meal + dessert + specialty drinks
Let’s start with once you are seated the hostess is not trained to accommodate! My daughter was cold and asked if we could move to the only half occupied patio. We were told no. I guess once they set a server section they are not smart enough or capable or deviating. So we are inside but the food came to us barely warm. Like there was NO need to blow on my toddlers food. It was a hurry up and eat before it’s ice cold situation. Just so we are clear a cup of coffee to go is not a cup for the half empty coffee I have. It is maybe that with a top off or a full fresh cup. Never is it just an empty cup. Also they must get busy they have huge amounts of staff just standing around. Maybe if you trained them better you could have less useless and more efficient staff.
Great stuff here! I got the crab cakes and they were delicious! The salad was great too. My father also loved his Reuben sandwich.
Shared creme brulee french toast and country breakfast with friend. So delicious. Will definitely become a regular. Super friendly service and fast delivery of our food as well.
The service was polite and friendly but the desserts looked way better than they tasted . The Manhattan Cheesecake was a room temperature mousse with hardly any flavor. The strawberry shortcake was decent but the strawberry on top tasted moldy. The Red Velvet cake is the same kind they sell at your local grocery store but far more expensive.. Each dessert averaged about $4.50 save your money and just go to your grocery store deli if you're looking for dessert!
Short wait. Food was good. Cute shop.
Cute quaint atmosphere with extremely large sandwich portions and a visually appealing dessert selection
Love this place I was scared especially when I eat out put this place I had to leave a review even my coworkers was trying to take my food !!! I’m defied Coming back
Excellent Food and service!
Awesome food!! Will go back when I return to Georgia!
Sugar Cakes, Quaint French Bakery & Cafe. that serves all Day , known for for Pastries & Custom Wedding
Son and Daughter in law took our nreakfast here. Great service and excellent food
The food is delicious in the customer service was awesome
The cake I ordered was perfect i would highly recommend
Don't hesitate to eat here. It's great.
This place has great sandwiches and salad. Their baked goods are decadent and hard to resist. We sat outside today, and it was very enjoyable. I had the Greek salad and turkey club duet, and my friend had the grilled cheese and house salad duet. Both were delicious and I especially loved the bread!
Nice place for breakfast
Excellent food, environment and employees 10*'s from me Silvia Interpreter
Delicious food and an overall delightful experience!! Will happily return.
Nice Sunday brunch
The service and food were good. A little pricey for what you get. But the wait staff were wonderful.
Great food and service.
Food was excellent and service was on par with other restaurants in the square, especially considering how busy they are on Saturday morning for brunch. Definitely will go back.
Great service for our brunch party of 14. Shrimp and Grits was delicious!
Always great food, service, and atmosphere. Thanks for many great breakfasts
Sugar Cakes is our go to place for a fabulous, early morning, even early Sunday morning, breakfast. My husband travels to France for business and Sugar Cakes is the only place around here where he can get a croissant that rivals what he can get in Paris. I love their eggs Benedict, seafood is my favorite. They know how to make a perfect Hollandaise and don't drown the dish with it. We've been going here for 4 years and have never been disappointed. Great service, too!
A sweet little bakery and cafe. We were seated immediately and had dessert. The mirage mousse cake was amazing and my husband enjoyed his tiramisu and coffee. Thr tea selection was lovely. Service was prompt and friendly.
5☆s Great food, great service, great location!
Loved the food.
Great breakfast stop
Inexperienced waiter Mis informed us that side item chips were homemade they're not they are lays out of a bag. My vegetarian sandwich had chicken bits in it as if a knife had been used to cut a chicken sandwich and then to cut my sandwich. I'm not a vegetarian so it wasn't bothersome to me but could be a problem for others. Food was good and tasty, it was a bit of a wait to order food, food came out quickly. Dogs are very welcome on the patio they bring water and treats.
The food is delicious. Both breakfast and lunch! Staff is so nice. Love this place!
Nice place. Went in around 9 AM on a Tuesday. Hardly anyone was there and it was quiet and cozy. Friendly staff. Food was tasty, coffee was good and strong!
5 star for Mirage - The magical Chocolate cake!!
My wife and I literally come here from Atlanta nearly every Saturday for the market on the square and the great food here. Although I pretty much get the same thing every time, The Country French Breakfast (because it's just that good!), you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Great place for brunch! I love eating here. The food is consistently good. The wait staff is always friendly and meet all of our needs. Even when they are very busy, you will never need something and wonder "uhh where is my server?" There is usually a short wait on the weekends, but this place is worth it! Also, this is a good choice on nice weather days, as they have outdoor seating overlooking the square. My only gripe is that the breakfast potatoes are super greasy.
I was disappointed based off the good reviews... the waitstaff was not well trained. We had to clear our own table between courses, setting used plates and bottles on the ground as the staff did not once ask if they could clear the table. My wife got food poisoning from the salmon cakes. The only reason I am leaving two stars is because the steak I ordered was good; however, the staff seemed bothered that I requested a steak knife to eat it with.
Good food, service
Had a good breakfast here on Easter Sunday.nice staff.
Good service..good food
Scrumptious!!! Pastries are amazing, generous omelettes & tasty tea!
Experience was wonderful. They accommodated a reservation via email. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was savory and spectacular. Loved the bread and salad as well. Thanks for a great experience!
Love this place!!
The most delicious desserts in town! Friendly staff. Beautiful desserts that taste out of this world. A must when in the area.
Wonderful food Everytime and service..egg scramble is always perfect..
Awesome place and great food and service
Sugar Cakes is located at the Marietta Square. It was my first visit. It is a cozy spot with excellent food and service. It is clean. Staff. They get a thumbs up for patience and the ability to treat diners efficiently and with a smile. Patience? I came to meet a friend whom I hadn't seen in over 6 years. We were so immersed in reacquainting ourselves we never looked at the menu until perhaps the fourth time our server came over! Our server wasn't annoyed or bothered. No pressure. Knowledge of offerings; have you ever gone someplace and asked for menu suggestions and they don't have a clue? Not here. When I asked, our server immediately offered suggestions. Food; breakfast and lunch items are offered. All sounded so good. It was hard to select. I wanted a salad. Our server had suggested their chicken salad on croissant. So I had salad with a generous amount of chicken salad. To be honest, I did not have high hope for the chicken salad but boy was I wrong!! The chicken salad was Delicious!! Not too dry or too wet. Just the right amount of seasoning. I could eat it all day! Ok, so this humongous review is done. Oops! Almost. I forgot that there are luscious looking desserts there too. I was too full to try. Next time!
Really cute breakfast spot. Bit of a wait on a Saturday AM, but there was a cute farmers market to kill some time at. The sauce and potatoes were soooo good. A little surprised they didn't have turkey sausage or turkey bacon, but they do have grilled chicken and regular turkey as options.
The Uber Earts was horrible. Cold, no powdered sugar, Smucker's syrup? For $15 I expect more.
Great food and service. Always a wonderful atmosphere and team members are really friendly.
Nice, fast and good! I had lunch there and we were very satisfied with the staff, food, atmosphere and price.
Creme Brule was great.
Nice little bistro in Marietta square. Crab cakes were ok... Didn't like the breading. Desserts and coffee are delicious.
Great atmosphere and huge selection for breakfast and lunch! The service was fast and efficient. Place is very small and intimate. I can't wait to go back
Second time being here and it was awesome. My first trip here I wanted to try the New York Benedict but was afraid because of an experience at another trendy breakfast spot. This time around I decided to go for it. So I got the Benedict with a side of fruit and grits. The crab cakes were delicious and crispy, the eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise was the star of this dish. It was a great combination and I'm glad I got it. They serve it with a slice of tomato that went very well with the meal. The grits were fine but a little soupy. I usually like mines thick. The service was awesome though I don't think anybody told us their names.
This was our first time here by suggestion of friends and we love it.
Amazing staff they’re all so friendly fast service and the food is to die for just awesome
Kind and attentive hosts. Visitef @ 330pm on a Friday. Limited lunch menu (1100-4:30pm). I heard dinner is great.
Food was excellent!
Nice staff food was good.
Don't bring your children, it is not atmosphere to kids! Look like a romantic place, with your partner or friends! Have a common sense too. And sure, if is a busy hour you waiting a lit. bit! Remember, it's not a place to order, quick and go... No! Is a "French" style, not a family place to the kids make noise and etc...
Super cute place. We came here while on vacation. Loved the tea.
Always good food and friendly service!
Update: 6/28/2019 - So, I have added a couple of stars from my original 2 star rating because the last few times I have visited I have had a much more pleasant experience and yes, my poached eggs were poached medium (not cooked eggs to order was a big negative in my original post). I think the trick to this place is to not go on the weekends - when going during the week when they are not too busy. This place is so inconsistent! The first time I went it was amazing, but that is where it stopped. When I get the crab cake benedict and the crab cakes are awesome, but sometimes they are tiny and sometime they are huge. Sometimes the coffee is really burnt and sometimes it is amazing. The kitchen staff's inability to make eggs that are anything but well done is also irritating - the few times I have gone I ask for over medium fried/poached and no matter what they come out well done. Today I tried the shrimp and grits because they ran out of crab cakes and the peppers were raw, the bacon was chewy and the grits were bland. Their menu items seem like they would be amazing, but the inconsistency of how it is prepared makes me hesitant to go back and on top of that it might take 5 or 20 minutes for a server to say hello to you.
I cannot full express how fantastic the food is here. They have an abundance of delectable dishes and the presentation is great as well. I have had the pleasure of tasting their lunch and breakfast menus and all has been a pleasant experience.
If you want some good food this is your place. Chicken salad is bomb. breakfast is the best thing since sliced bread
I love this place! It's in Marietta Square. A female friend, whom I am very interested in, took me here for brunch. I ordered shrimp and grits and I think I ate a part of the bowl. My bad. The view is facing the park/street, so that's a plus. The staff: A-Freaking-mazing!!!!!
Great little spot for breakfast and lunch, or a coffee on the square. Located right on the square facing out to a great view. Their breakfast/brunch is amazing, try the omelettes or anything with grits. One of our go to joints for weekend brunch in the square.
Great place with affordable prices. My quiche as a little "well done". It still tasted great though, with many flavors coming through. Salad was fresh and delicious, and portions were larger than I expected for the price. A very small and busy place (even on a Tuesday), which equals a little noise, tables very close together, curt service and the aforementioned food forgotten in the oven for a bit too long, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a popular spot. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and would come here again for the excellent food.
Large variety of high-quality food
My sister, me, and my mom always go here for special brunches (mother's day, birthdays, etc.). It's really wonderful good, good coffee made to order, and yummy desserts.
Great food, very fresh and a neat cafe setting. The wait staff seems a bit green but they were super friendly
Everything I have eaten here is absolutely delicious
Man the trout was good. Hated not being able to finish it, but after the mussels and bread (dipped in the mussels sauce), I have to take the rest home. Dessert was creme brulee and cake surrounded by chocolate mousse and ganache. Wonderful! I think I've found my new favorite place! Only open for dinner on weekends, but pastries, breakfast and lunch look good too!
Well, I used to like this place. However, I went there last night for dinner and had an awful experience. We got there at 8:20pm and were reminded several times that they close at 9pm. Service was very poor and they started sweeping the floors 20 minutes to 9pm. When I asked to speak to the manager, when they refuse to bring us more bread, she completly ignored me and never came to our table. To make matters worse, they started turning off the lights at 9'oclock on the dot. I've not seen such miserable staff in a while. Top down approach. Not going back.
I have eaten hear numerous time and enjoy everything I have had. I know the Creme Brulee French Toast is very good as well as the crab cakes Benedict. I was not impressed with the shrimp and grits but that is more my preference of a more cheese type grits for that dish. For lunch both the mushroom bree as well as the tomato basil soups were very good. I have also eaten here during their dinners which they have on Fridays and Saturdays. All the food during dinner is worthy of praise. One of my favorite aspects of eating here is the willingness of all the staff to help. whether or not they are your waitperson, everyone will help you.
Very happy we stopped in and had lunch had two of the sandwiches amazingly good also noticed that they had takeout very organized so glad that we stopped in
This place is quite good for breakfast. They definitely know how to scramble an egg properly. Their breakfast menu is a bit pricey, but worth it. The coffee is flavorful and the wait staff is very friendly. On nice mornings you can sit outside and enjoy breakfast al fresco. I can't comment on the lunch menu as I've never been there at that time although my wife lunches there frequently with friends and speaks highly of the food.
Small and big on taste with quality service
Very nice for lunch and desserts we're very nice too. Highly recommend.
Very good chicken salad!
A great place for Sunday brunch. Lots of great things on the menu and a very cool vibe. It can get crowded but it's worth the short wait.
Ted is the most amazing baker. He made a wonderful unique cake that was delicious. It was completely all edible. He made the stadium football field .....we gave him a photo and he did it exactly. We ordered little desserts that were all delicious as well. He delivered it perfectly to the Fox theater in downtown Atlanta. Could not be happier. On a sidenote we did go eat breakfast there one morning. It was truly delicious. Thanks again Deb & Bob
Neat interesting place for sandwiches not desert¡
Great food and coffee, good ambiance. Will be back soon.
Got great service here even though they were so busy. Loved the food, would love to go back and try out more things from the menu. I love seafood so they have a seafood omelette which will be my choice next time. I ordered French Toast and scrambled eggs. Both were really good. Loved the coffee as well however they have fancier coffees as well if that’s what you like. Prices are reasonable as well. I didn’t get a chance to check if they offer free WiFi or not but will have to do that next time. Host and waiter both were awesome. Actually all the wait staff I noticed in there was nice and very energetic.
Great after church place if you can eat outside
Love it great experience every time. I eat here the coffee is so good with honey cinnamon and cream. The food is always so so good no matter what we order
Amazing desserts, small plates & wine.
This place has terrible service. For breakfast we came in asked for a menu and sat down. This girl that looks Latina waiter with a braid came up to us and said go to the host so we got up and went to the host. The host was on the phone with another’s client so we were waiting. And that same exact girl was with him. And anothere couster came in and they seated him despite the fact that we were there first standing in front of her face. We will never come back here again.
We stopped in for dessert and coffee, both were delicious. Staff is very nice, prices are fair and acoustics are mellow.
We've been coming to sugar cakes for years and we've never had a bad meal. The wait staff is friendly and the owner just keeps making improvements. The very best dessert is the "mirage". Don't miss it!
Delicious food..servers are fantastic!
Good food with great service. Tables are small for large frame people like me. I loved the quiche
We have a wonderful meal. We dined on a Friday night. Quiet atmosphere. It an old house with a great deal of charm. Friendly staff Good service Good Food
EXCEPTIONAL food and atmosphere... a la carte choices are excellent!
Yum. Just...Yum. Beautiful, delicate patisseries. Wonderful brekkie, brunch, lunch offerings. Make reservations for dinner. You won't regret it.
A omelet seafood great taste.
Great service (fast and friendly)! If you like Panera, you'll definitely love Sugar Cakes. Makes sure you try their Pumpkin Spice Latte ☕ (even better than Starbucks), and their Caesar salad, a personal favorite ❤.
Cute, exquisite and fresh food!! Great place to share a breakfast with the one you love, the family or a first time meet up. Ted, the owner, is all about your full experience. The staff are great too. Oh, and the desserts are to die for. Bon appetit!
Cute little spot in downtown Marietta. I had the seafood omelet that was absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back. #Yummy
Had the crab cakes Benedict. Amazing food. Good service friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Food was great, service was good.
Wow !!! I had a fantastic breakfast with my family at this lovely place. Good food...great atmosphere...nice staff.
Great service and delicious food!
Seafood omelette flavorful with béchamel sauce on the side depth of meat. Comes with small side of fruit and choice of chef potatoes or grit or wheat toast.
Really cool little place. Good food. I need to go on a weekday when they're serving wine. I think the service good use a little improvement, but overall...I want to go again.
They have the BEST French Toast I've ever had! I got it as a to go order so I'm sure it's even better eating fresh in the restaurant. The staff is great also and they always have my food ready for pick-up on time.
One of the best places to eat in the area. Food is always fresh and really good. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy Sugar Cakes!
Great food and location. Unfortunately the place is small and they try to pack people in like sardines. I think if they reorganized the layout, it wouldn't feel as cramped. Also, not stroller friendly given the tight space.
Hidden Gem! Chicken salad "meal" with happy smiling people. Yummy- licious.
Came here for breakfast. The food good, croissant was perfect. The French toast looks amazing! Nice atmosphere inside. Wouldn't mind coming back here for more
We arrived after they stopped serving lunch, so we picked out some chocolate covered strawberries and crème brûlée. It was delightfully delicious. Not to mention our server who went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience possible.
