Popped in for lunch with the wife and two little boys. Very helpful staff and quick service. You get a free cookie with the kids meals, so my 4 year old was all about that. They have a couple of french options on the menu like the croque monsieur. And the tables are small like a Paris bistro.

You've got to check out Sugar Cakes at Marietta square. The food and service are great. The staff is friendly and attentive. The staff are always making sure the restaurant stays clean and the customers are happy. The owner is always onsite and he is always interacting with the customers. The restaurant closes at 3:00PM, because the focus is ensuring that the customer's overall experience is exceptional and there is work life balance for his employees. Please don't forget to order dessert and / or pastry. The deserts are delicious. I have not been disappointed.

Arrived well before 1:30 PM and when we were finally spoken to they told us they couldn't do any of the brunch foods. So I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you want to be ignored, get your hopes up for the few things that look good on the menu to be told they can't serve you.

This place was such a pleasure. A hidden gem. The macaroni and cheese is to die for, the grilled vegetables awesome, the crab cakes were not Baltimore style but they passed, the chicken skewers were amazing and the cake super moist. Overall a wonderful atmosphere, very great service. Again a hidden gem in Marietta, wish it were closer to me. A good hangout spot.

Let’s start with once you are seated the hostess is not trained to accommodate! My daughter was cold and asked if we could move to the only half occupied patio. We were told no. I guess once they set a server section they are not smart enough or capable or deviating. So we are inside but the food came to us barely warm. Like there was NO need to blow on my toddlers food. It was a hurry up and eat before it’s ice cold situation. Just so we are clear a cup of coffee to go is not a cup for the half empty coffee I have. It is maybe that with a top off or a full fresh cup. Never is it just an empty cup. Also they must get busy they have huge amounts of staff just standing around. Maybe if you trained them better you could have less useless and more efficient staff.

The service was polite and friendly but the desserts looked way better than they tasted . The Manhattan Cheesecake was a room temperature mousse with hardly any flavor. The strawberry shortcake was decent but the strawberry on top tasted moldy. The Red Velvet cake is the same kind they sell at your local grocery store but far more expensive.. Each dessert averaged about $4.50 save your money and just go to your grocery store deli if you're looking for dessert!

This place has great sandwiches and salad. Their baked goods are decadent and hard to resist. We sat outside today, and it was very enjoyable. I had the Greek salad and turkey club duet, and my friend had the grilled cheese and house salad duet. Both were delicious and I especially loved the bread!

Sugar Cakes is our go to place for a fabulous, early morning, even early Sunday morning, breakfast. My husband travels to France for business and Sugar Cakes is the only place around here where he can get a croissant that rivals what he can get in Paris. I love their eggs Benedict, seafood is my favorite. They know how to make a perfect Hollandaise and don't drown the dish with it. We've been going here for 4 years and have never been disappointed. Great service, too!

Inexperienced waiter Mis informed us that side item chips were homemade they're not they are lays out of a bag. My vegetarian sandwich had chicken bits in it as if a knife had been used to cut a chicken sandwich and then to cut my sandwich. I'm not a vegetarian so it wasn't bothersome to me but could be a problem for others. Food was good and tasty, it was a bit of a wait to order food, food came out quickly. Dogs are very welcome on the patio they bring water and treats.

My wife and I literally come here from Atlanta nearly every Saturday for the market on the square and the great food here. Although I pretty much get the same thing every time, The Country French Breakfast (because it's just that good!), you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Great place for brunch! I love eating here. The food is consistently good. The wait staff is always friendly and meet all of our needs. Even when they are very busy, you will never need something and wonder "uhh where is my server?" There is usually a short wait on the weekends, but this place is worth it! Also, this is a good choice on nice weather days, as they have outdoor seating overlooking the square. My only gripe is that the breakfast potatoes are super greasy.

I was disappointed based off the good reviews... the waitstaff was not well trained. We had to clear our own table between courses, setting used plates and bottles on the ground as the staff did not once ask if they could clear the table. My wife got food poisoning from the salmon cakes. The only reason I am leaving two stars is because the steak I ordered was good; however, the staff seemed bothered that I requested a steak knife to eat it with.

Sugar Cakes is located at the Marietta Square. It was my first visit. It is a cozy spot with excellent food and service. It is clean. Staff. They get a thumbs up for patience and the ability to treat diners efficiently and with a smile. Patience? I came to meet a friend whom I hadn't seen in over 6 years. We were so immersed in reacquainting ourselves we never looked at the menu until perhaps the fourth time our server came over! Our server wasn't annoyed or bothered. No pressure. Knowledge of offerings; have you ever gone someplace and asked for menu suggestions and they don't have a clue? Not here. When I asked,our server immediately offered suggestions. Food; breakfast and lunch items are offered. All sounded so good. It was hard to select. I wanted a salad. Our server had suggested their chicken salad on croissant. So I had salad with a generous amount of chicken salad. To be honest, I did not have high hope for the chicken salad but boy was I wrong!! The chicken salad was Delicious!! Not too dry or too wet. Just the right amount of seasoning. I could eat it all day! Ok, so this humongous review is done. Oops! Almost. I forgot that there are luscious looking desserts there too. I was too full to try. Next time!

Really cute breakfast spot. Bit of a wait on a Saturday AM, but there was a cute farmers market to kill some time at. The sauce and potatoes were soooo good. A little surprised they didn't have turkey sausage or turkey bacon, but they do have grilled chicken and regular turkey as options.

Second time being here and it was awesome. My first trip here I wanted to try the New York Benedict but was afraid because of an experience at another trendy breakfast spot. This time around I decided to go for it. So I got the Benedict with a side of fruit and grits. The crab cakes were delicious and crispy, the eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise was the star of this dish. It was a great combination and I'm glad I got it. They serve it with a slice of tomato that went very well with the meal. The grits were fine but a little soupy. I usually like mines thick. The service was awesome though I don't think anybody told us their names.

Update: 6/28/2019 - So, I have added a couple of stars from my original 2 star rating because the last few times I have visited I have had a much more pleasant experience and yes, my poached eggs were poached medium (not cooked eggs to order was a big negative in my original post). I think the trick to this place is to not go on the weekends - when going during the week when they are not too busy. This place is so inconsistent! The first time I went it was amazing, but that is where it stopped. When I get the crab cake benedict and the crab cakes are awesome, but sometimes they are tiny and sometime they are huge. Sometimes the coffee is really burnt and sometimes it is amazing. The kitchen staff's inability to make eggs that are anything but well done is also irritating - the few times I have gone I ask for over medium fried/poached and no matter what they come out well done. Today I tried the shrimp and grits because they ran out of crab cakes and the peppers were raw, the bacon was chewy and the grits were bland. Their menu items seem like they would be amazing, but the inconsistency of how it is prepared makes me hesitant to go back and on top of that it might take 5 or 20 minutes for a server to say hello to you.

I love this place! It's in Marietta Square. A female friend, whom I am very interested in, took me here for brunch. I ordered shrimp and grits and I think I ate a part of the bowl. My bad. The view is facing the park/street, so that's a plus. The staff: A-Freaking-mazing!!!!!

Great little spot for breakfast and lunch, or a coffee on the square. Located right on the square facing out to a great view. Their breakfast/brunch is amazing, try the omelettes or anything with grits. One of our go to joints for weekend brunch in the square.

Great place with affordable prices. My quiche as a little "well done". It still tasted great though, with many flavors coming through. Salad was fresh and delicious, and portions were larger than I expected for the price. A very small and busy place (even on a Tuesday), which equals a little noise, tables very close together, curt service and the aforementioned food forgotten in the oven for a bit too long, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a popular spot. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and would come here again for the excellent food.

Man the trout was good. Hated not being able to finish it, but after the mussels and bread (dipped in the mussels sauce), I have to take the rest home. Dessert was creme brulee and cake surrounded by chocolate mousse and ganache. Wonderful! I think I've found my new favorite place! Only open for dinner on weekends, but pastries, breakfast and lunch look good too!

Well, I used to like this place. However, I went there last night for dinner and had an awful experience. We got there at 8:20pm and were reminded several times that they close at 9pm. Service was very poor and they started sweeping the floors 20 minutes to 9pm. When I asked to speak to the manager, when they refuse to bring us more bread, she completly ignored me and never came to our table. To make matters worse, they started turning off the lights at 9'oclock on the dot. I've not seen such miserable staff in a while. Top down approach. Not going back.

I have eaten hear numerous time and enjoy everything I have had. I know the Creme Brulee French Toast is very good as well as the crab cakes Benedict. I was not impressed with the shrimp and grits but that is more my preference of a more cheese type grits for that dish. For lunch both the mushroom bree as well as the tomato basil soups were very good. I have also eaten here during their dinners which they have on Fridays and Saturdays. All the food during dinner is worthy of praise. One of my favorite aspects of eating here is the willingness of all the staff to help. whether or not they are your waitperson, everyone will help you.

This place is quite good for breakfast. They definitely know how to scramble an egg properly. Their breakfast menu is a bit pricey, but worth it. The coffee is flavorful and the wait staff is very friendly. On nice mornings you can sit outside and enjoy breakfast al fresco. I can't comment on the lunch menu as I've never been there at that time although my wife lunches there frequently with friends and speaks highly of the food.

Ted is the most amazing baker. He made a wonderful unique cake that was delicious. It was completely all edible. He made the stadium football field .....we gave him a photo and he did it exactly. We ordered little desserts that were all delicious as well. He delivered it perfectly to the Fox theater in downtown Atlanta. Could not be happier. Got great service here even though they were so busy. Loved the food, would love to go back and try out more things from the menu. I love seafood so they have a seafood omelette which will be my choice next time. I ordered French Toast and scrambled eggs. Both were really good. Loved the coffee as well however they have fancier coffees as well if that’s what you like. Prices are reasonable as well. I didn’t get a chance to check if they offer free WiFi or not but will have to do that next time. Host and waiter both were awesome. Actually all the wait staff I noticed in there was nice and very energetic.

This girl that looks Latina waiter with a braid came up to us and said go to the host so we got up and went to the host.The host was on the phone with another’s client so we were waiting. And that same exact girl was with him. And anothere couster came in and they seated him despite the fact that we were there first standing in front of her face. We will never come back here again.
