Absolutely HORRIBLE! I had so many issues with how this company handles business. The cakes are way overpriced at $125 for a 6 inch cake. The staff person I spoke with didn't inform me that the cake I would receive would be considerably smaller than the one I saw and chose on their website otherwise I would have made a different decision on cake size or just went with someone else.. I was never informed that the message, though the same amount of letters as the cake pictured, would NOT be on the cake...but on the cardboard that the cake sat on and said "happy 45 birthday...instead of 45th as requested. The decoration was leaning when I got the cake and ultimately fell off...so I had to turn around before the decorators left to get it put back on. The icing was hard as a rock and ridiculously sweet, which was not expected, and the cake itself had ZERO flavor. I was only told about the message AFTER I mentioned it to the cashier (who, was very nice though he didn't have much power to help me) upon pick-up. No manager or decorator even came out from the back to at least off an apology...the cashier had to keep going in the back to address my issues. The cake was in a regular cardboard box that was wrapped with plastic and household tape to hold it open in order to accommodate for the decoration...which is unacceptable for a $125 cake of only 6 inches...they didn't have the appropriate packaging for the cake. And the decoration didn't look like hello kitty...it was similar with some of the markings but the head was too small and the attire was not what hello kitty would wear. Bottomline...I felt like there was no attention to detail when it came to the decoration and the messaging though I can say that the flowers were nice. Customer service here is terrible as well.

Great bakery for lunch! Great service, delicious food, and awesome atmosphere. I enjoyed a crescent chicken salad sandwich with a hibiscus hot tea and an amazing poblano pepper soup!! They even gave me a free piece of cake with my order!! The chocolate strawberry cake is absolutely decadent!! Such a great hidden secret

Mae's bakery always has the nicest staff. Their coffee is really good and their baked goods are amazing. I've had pretty much everything they make and can't say I wouldn't order each again. My favorite is the cinnamon roll.

I personally find myself here are a few times a week for a great latte and a pastry while I work in the mornings. Mae's has a bright, friendly atmosphere, delicious treats and top-notch coffee. The cakes I see come out of the bakery are nothing short of works of art.

I got excited about this place because they offer vegan items. However, once you go to the location, they say that you have to order 12-24 hours in advance with the vegan items that you want. There isn't a menu, they just say they can make anything you want vegan. However, when asking if we could order a slice of cake, the guy was rude and condescending and basically told us that, "we can't make a slice of cake, we have to make a whole cake." A better response could have been, "no, you can't order a slice of cake, you have to order the whole cake." Finally, the one vegan item they had was a red velvet cupcake so I ordered wanting to try it to see if it's any good. It's not. I won't be going back. Terrible service. Terrible dessert.

Very disappointing to have picked up a dry and hard special ordered desert from your establishment. I have bought 4 cakes from you in a 6 months period all for special celebrations and they were amazing! I've raved to family, friends & co-workers about how awesome you are; however, this last one was aweful and the crew was rude. They were not accommodating to the date I requested ahead of time to pick up, eventhough you were opened on that day. Your staff asked me to pick it up a day earlier which was not my request nor on my original order. But I did it anyway, only for them to be very rude and didn't deliver what I ordered. I will find me another bakery that will be reliable, consistent, deliver what I ordered and importantly provide a moist and fresh product and not something that nobody can eat. Utter disappointment and upset. Pls revamp your staff and train them on all aspects of this business including the taste of the product, excellent customer relation and standards. -- After a night of processing mentally your response to me, I'm totally upset and annoyed as a customer. You had the opportunity to apology and offer an olive branch to me as well as make this a teachable movement for your staff. However, you elected to tell me I had the wrong establishement. How upsetting is this? I'm an astute educated consumer, I "don't" get places wrong, nor have I sent a family member to pick it up for me to the wrong address. If details were important to you; you could have provided a contact name/number & best time to contact the owner. I'm aware this is a female minority owned establishment and no one likes "not so favorable" reviews.Your staff did a disservice to the quality of what your product can taste like and to my personal birthday order. We could not eat nor drive a folk through it. The only thing edible was the few macarons you had as somewhat of a design. If your stand-in or other baker could not deliver, at least have a moist & cleaned up product. Not one person at my birthday lunch gathering could eat through the icing nor cake, incredibly hard. So disappointing! In the future reach out to a reviewer and don't assume they have the wrong place. After speaking with them, then at that time you can determine if it's the wrong place. Then collectively agree and ask them to delete their review based on wrong establishement. In disbelief of your response, "must have the wrong bakery because we can't find an order under this e-mail address", therefore your feedback is incorrect which is not the case. If you're going to fact find make sure to reach out and gather the facts thoroughly and don't make excuses. There are all types of ways for a better resolve.

Very cute little coffeeshop, bright with beautiful seating areas inside and out. I fell in love with their Cafe latte...Flavorful with a slight hint of woodsy taste, made with organic whole milk and a rich milk froth that added to the smooth taste. I also tried their croisants as well as their banana nut loaf and both were worth to come back for. Staff was absolutely nice as well. Wish I lived closer. Will definitely go back on my next visit.

Rare find in Atlanta: Rare to find an excellent bakery that does everything on-site and from scratch!. No recently defrosted goodies here! I popped in before dinner one night and tried some samples. and was so impressed I left with boxes of treats for my office the next day. The owner carefully selected the things that would still be good the next day. My staff of hard to please people had everything devoured before lunch. Rare for me to bother writing a good review (I am like all the others who complain more than compliment) but I don't live close but was there again today.... Made a special trip to get the office some holiday treats. Once again the staff Swarmed the boxes and boxes I had gotten thinking I had enough... But they wolfed down all the 80 treats I had brought in a matter of hours; and RAVED and GUSHED over the amazing taste and quality. So rare to find a old fashioned bakery that is family owned and operated, who actually uses family recipes and CARES the food they serve. I followed up this order with another order for 3 beautiful gingerbread houses for the holidays..... and they were CHEAP (but don't tell them that). Fan for life

I ordered a cake from Mae's for my son's birthday. I worked with a lady named Kat to design a simple T-Rex cake. My only request was that it did not include a flat photo image. I also provided several images of a realistic, yet simple T-Rex. We agreed upon an image and it was even included on my invoice. Well, I picked up my cake and it was a cartoon flat photo image of a T-Rex! Exactly what I didn't want. I wrote Kat to let her know how unhappy I was with what she provided me and she was extremely indifferent to my disappointment. I will not be using Mae's for my cake decorating needs anymore. Especially since they didn't even seem to care that they didn't deliver what they promised. And ... there were fuzz particles on my cake, too! Just not a good experience at all.

I went to a birthday party that ordered a cake Maes Bakery on Lenox Rd. The cake itself was beautiful but when they cut the cake open OMG it look like it wasnt cooked enough. Everyone in line got out of line saying "I'm good" that had to be embarrassing for the Mother. It was her child's 1st birthday. If I was her I would not recommend that bakery.

Service was terrible I sent them a picture of what my cake was supposed to look like they did their own version forgetting a WHOLE Tier, this place was horrible and the workers are very rude I will never go here again. I paid $150 for a cake that's supposed to feed 9 people the cake looks like it is one of those cakes you put babies heads in for their first birthday!!!!! This is unbelievable.

Stay away from the $10 hummus sandwich. They spread the hummus on like mayonnaise. Full disclosure--they were very friendly when I pointed out that the hummus was spread on like mayonnaise, and gladly made a second sandwich. The second sandwich, had a slightly thicker mayonnaise--esk spread. Sincerely, Hungry and Dissatisfied p.s. The savory rolls at $4 seems like it would have been a better option. But I'll never know.

Mae's Bakery is a gem tucked away in Buckhead off Lenox Road. I mainly stop by in the morning for breakfast. They have great savory rolls and breakfast sandwiches. I usually get a breakfast sandwich on a croissant and it is so good. The perfect size too. They also have great coffee and tea options as well as a very delicious chai latte. The one time I've eaten lunch here it was excellent. I had the soup of the day, a butternut squash soup, which was very tasty and the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had, hands down. I don't know what they put in it, but it is magic. The lunch menu changes daily so if you stop by and they have the chicken salad, get it! Of course their pastries and desserts are excellent as well.

Mae’s Bakery completely messed up my daughter’s first birthday cake. I ordered a fondant cake that was suppose to represent a 3D image of a piano, but this is what I received. Not only is it a flat image, but the black icing is bleeding through and not evenly done. When confronting management with the issue, they were unorganized and did not explain their mistake. I was expecting much more based on previous reviews, but I was completely disappointed.

This bakery is deplorable. I called trying to order a cake and was told I needed to do it by email. It took over 12hours for them to get back to me and then 10hours at 8:15 at night for them to tell me they were too busy to make a birthday cake!!! What kind of bakery can’t make a cake? I will never recommend his bakery Since my post the bakery has emailed and can now accommodate me with a cake. Unfortunately it took my review to get a response and I must say, I am impressed with their quick response. I will post another review after i receive the cake.

Delicious coffee from the Counter Culture roasters (same coffee as at Octane) and the pastries are hard to beat. Service is always nice and while there are not many lunch food options the place does a good dessert business.

Mae’s Bakery did an outstanding job on replicating a photo I had submitted (see attached.) The taste and texture of the vanilla cake was good along with the buttercream fondant. The amount of fondant used to fill the gaps within the cake layers was ridiculous. The height of the cake layers decreased towards the edges thus requiring excessive amounts of fondant. Groupon needs to be presented before ordering and not available for walk-in ordering although not mentioned on Groupon and not all staff were knowledgeable of the Groupon offered.

Great lavender latte as suggested by the attendant but,the pastries were too dry for my liking.They became very crumbly and didn’t hold much moisture in the breading. Great ideas and concepts in flavor but they could use some more thought into the textures for me to revisit the bakery.

Sometime around Octoberish 2015: Great coffee! The people that work there are really nice. Repeatedly unsatisfying food. I just had an egg, feta, spinach roll with no egg or feta. Last time I ordered a lemon poppy seed muffin that was very dry but the outside was greasy. I'll be back for the coffee but really wish their food was better. 8/12/16 Update: So I haven't been back to Mae's for about 8-9 months due to the food being subpar as noted above. The wife and I wanted to give Mae's another shot so we stopped in this morning. Not much has changed except that the coffee went from great to bad. We both ordered iced coffee that tasted burnt and stale. Cream and simple syrup couldn't mask the terrible flavor. As far as food goes, I decided to try the lemon poppy seed muffin again and it was hard and dry. I don't know how long it was sitting in the display case but it definitely didn't seem to be freshly baked. My wife had a mixed berry scone that was hard and dry as well. The people that work there are still very friendly but I don't think we will be going back anytime soon.
