This Bakery corresponds to the category of Bakery.
Ive been to 2 different locations and I enjoyed both!
Delicious thai salad
Great food and quick service! Quick and easy enough to get a cup of coffee before heading in to the office. Been there a few times for brunch as well
Total joke. Had me wait a half hour for a Togo order just to tell me they are out of half the things I ordered. I left with nothing and they were completely indifferent. Wait a waste
Great service at the counter, new to the bakery and the staff was helpful in helping me find what to order. Lots of places to sit, nice and simple bakery.
I ordered two of my favorite items to order at restaurants. Crab burger and tomato bisque. Well, not bad, but wouldn't recommend, nor order here again. And I was told photo taking us not allowed. 2.75 stars, now 2. Shrug. Won't be back.
Great time. Careful with quantities. A full French toast order will feed 3!
Food ALWAYS good here
Meh.... not as good as the inman park location. Close to waffle house types prep.
The service here isn’t always the best but it’s close enough for me to walk. Shrimp and grits are my usual and they are good depending on who is in the kitchen. If you’re going to try highland bakery for the first time it’s worth the wait and crowd to go to the other location.
Worst company I ever worked for.
Great service, plenty of seating, food was great. Top notch!
Randomly not open during normally scheduled hours? Not even a sign on the door or greeting on the VM (I called first). Not cool!
Cozy, comfortable, great service and food
The best place to go for a cup of coffee in the midtown area. Very clean and spacious too. Great spot for quick meetings
Pretty good sandwiches are so large that I can usually only get through half. Big enough to have lunch the next day too. Can't go wrong with any of the tasty baked goods either. Seating area is lackluster - you can cram into the tiny space at the back or near the reflecting pools, where the acoustics are so bad that you can hear the shrill laughter of someone 3 tables away, but can't hear the person across the table from you. Customer service is not the top priority. There's a guy who's great and a man busing dishes who is a gem. They always make a trip to Highland Bakery pleasant. One of the cashiers has perfected the I Hate My Job model for customer service. I want to rate this place higher, but there are so many issues with the uncomfortable layout of the space that I can't give it more that a 3. Sadly, the roast beef sandwich is disappointing. Great cabbage carrot soup.
Good selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. Fairly fast service at lunch.
ordered a toasted seasame bagel with cream cheese. 1 - was given the item with a packet of cream cheese to apply myself (really?) 2 - they had not toasted the bagel, but rather put it face down on the griddle, so it tasted like a nickel flavored combination of every other egg and bacon breakfast item made that morning. Can forgive 1 if this is the new do-it-yourself norm, but the bagel tasted absolutely awful. Not going back, although won't matter given they seem to have a captive market.
Poor customer service! Charged an extra $2.29 to substitute cheese on a sandwich. It wouldn't have been an issue if the girl who took my order would have at least informed me of that extra charge. Food was decent. Overrated though overall.
The food is really good but I like the Virginia Highlands location more. The midtown location has community seating and it takes away from the ambiance a bit. Food is damn good though.
Great breakfast quick which was just what we were looking for.
I almost didn't go here because of the mixed reviews, but I'm glad that I did. They had a lot of bread and pastries to choose from so I chose 4 pastries; A lemon tart, a mini red velvet cupcake, a mini vanilla cupcake and a mini cinnamon donut all for about $6. All of the pastries were really, really good, my clear favorite being the lemon tart. The tart was perfect. The crust was good and the lemon curd tasted perfect, not too tart but with the right taste of lemon. The red velvet cupcake was good, both the cake and the cream cheese icing. I also enjoyed the vanilla cupcake too. I wasn't particularly fond of the mini cinnamon donut because it didn't taste like a donut, but more like a sugar cookie and there was no taste of cinnamon. Overall a very good bakery. I really enjoyed everything that I ordered and will be coming back, especially for that delicious tart.
The tofu dish was really good! I didn't know this place existed until a friend mentioned it. My husband had the omlette and he said it hit the spot for him. They made hot chocolate with almond milk and it tasted really good! When I asked about vegan options, they listed quite a few things that can be made vegan, so that was nice. The serving size is pretty decent as well.
Decent.
Simply amazing
Staff attitudes suck but love the food.
Highland in Midtown is by far my fave brunch place in town! Best french toast in the city! Friendly staff and awesome location!
Food was really good !!!! Some friends and I are there for brunch one Saturday . The menu is slightly different from the original locations menu but food is still good.
Excellent food and service. The place made a special cozy environment in the corner of a huge cold business building, an oasis in the area. The personnel is amazing.
Got my simple order wrong....as usual!
Javier is awesome! Thanks for checking on me & helping me!
I love the food was excellent the service is very courteous very fast and everything's in order
Absolutely garbage. Ordered at 12:36 PM and did not receive food until after 30 minutes of waiting. Others were also complaining on the wait. We had people in our party receive their food 20 minutes before the next person in our group. If your company allows 2 hours of lunch break, then I highly recommend this place.
Service was sub par at best. Though the 2 of us where the only ones in line, it took a few mins before being acknowledged. I will say the order came out fast even tho the salmon platter came with no salmon and the wrong bagel type. I recommend the staff be a little more attentive to the details and more engaged while servicing customers.
Best cupcakes in town!
Good small bakery. Huge portions.
BEWARE: highland bakery gift cards are not valid at this highland bakery location, they have now screwed me out of over 300$ and refuse to honor my gift card, deceptive business practices
More or less of a breakfast, lunch joint. Bakery selections might be limited.. big cookies, muffins, cake pops. Plenty of breakfast combination of items and sit outside on the patio or get them to go. It's a very cozy place.
Overpriced tasteless food. Service was mediocre. Closing walking distance to our hotel, The W. Nice outside sitting area.
Highland bakery has what is in my opinion a very underrated breakfast. Yes you can get pastries and the like, but their highland breakfast (two eggs, choice of meat, grits or potatoes and toast) is actually really good too. Quick recommendation on the grits, if you like your grits on the thicker side, definitely get them with cheese otherwise they tend to be a bit less dense than your typical flying biscuit type grits. No complaints though. Eggs were great, toast was great, and they stock plenty of tobasco sauce which in my opinion is a must-have for any breakfast restaurant. I would say it's hard to go wrong here. They also have fresh juices and you can get as European as you want with your coffee (i.e. cappuccino, espresso, etc.) Without veering into Starbucks chai-mocha-double-pump-vanilla sugar bomb territory.
Coffee is good and hot. Asked for a toasted bagel. Got one grilled. Tasted like burnt metal. Not impressed. Also, the cup holder is an advert for crappy fake sugar. Even comes with a free sample.
Extremely slow
Great food. Prices aren't too bad. Highly recommend the Rustic Italian.
Delicious biscuits, decadent cinnamon rolls, and most importantly a vibrant and sincere energy here. Treat ya self. Note: haven’t eaten breakfast/lunch; the building WiFi is weak (not Highland’s fault obvi)
Homemade bread. Interesting, delicious menu.
Friendly service and the pastries are amazing
Excellent BLT breakfast sandwich
Cramped and a bit dingy. Decent food. Not as good as the main location.
Tried this place for brunch, the eggs seemed microwaved. Not a good impression overall. Guy behind the register was impatient, know what your want or move on. Wasn't that busy
This place is amazing. Great food good prices an the sweet potatoe pancakes are perfect.
More of a bakery-focused breakfast place than a straight-up bakery. Still nothing like the late Bake Shop of Midtown years ago. Anyway, the peanut butter French toast is the most filling meal ever. The syrup is fantastic. The espresso is great.
Wonderful service, delicious pastries and the best dirty chai latte!
Excellent lates
Had the grits my first visit here and they were really good and they give you a lot. The staff are friendly and the venue is interesting (located near the lobby of the building). Came as a group and just put a few tables together (the tables seat 2-4). Definitely give it a try!
This location leaves me feeling as if something is missing. The food is always just okay, I had the curry chicken salad sandwich with a side of grits on my most recent visit. The chicken sandwich was flavorful if not somewhat dry. I think if the bin would have been freshly toasted or placed on the grill it would have been much improved. I also never know where to sit because often times the inside seating area is partitioned off which means you waiter sit outside or in the atrium of the attached building. When this happens I am uncertain if I am going to receive service and once it twice I've been right. Oh and one just note, don't get the cinnamon roll heated in the microwave, it's like eating rubber with icing. Yuck.
Great menu with fresh items and yummy coffee!
Great little spot in midtown. Less crowded than the original location, but also has a limited menu. Avoid the lines at other midtown brunch locations and come here!
Very poor service they need more people there. Also need a bigger kitchen you can see and hear them argue amongst themself not very professional
I don't particularly like the food here, but they deserve 5 stars because of the baked goods. Try the chocolate chip pecan cookies.
Great food, prices were reasonable. I could write a sonnet about the sweet potato pancakes...They were amazing. Very cute bakery
Good food, great location. Easy to get in from street level.
One of my favorite spots to eat breakfast in ATL
Don't let it's humble appearance fool you. Highland Bakery serves up the best hot breakfast in Midtown, quickly and with a smile. For those who prefer just a cuppa with a bagel or a croissant, well you can't go wrong there either. Their lunch menu is simple, but with enough variety to please every palate. Of all the places I eat in the heart of Midtown, Highland Bakery is the only one that invokes my nostalgia for breakfast in Manhatten. AMENDMENT TO ORIGINAL REVIEW ~ Someone asked a question about handicapped accessible parking that couldn't be answered with a simple yes or no. Public paid parking is available at Colony Square, with an entrance on 14th Street just across Peachtree beside the 'W' Hotel. There are handicapped spaces available on the red level beside the access doors to Colony Square, with a wheelchair lift for those who can't manage the five step drop to the access doors and elevator bays. The elevators will take you up to the lobby where you have street level access at Peachtree and 14th Streets; and with it, access to a number of different restaurants Highland Bakery is directly across the street behind TAP restaurant. You can enter and order at the counter in a wheelchair, but you'd have to exit the restaurant and use the outside wheelchair ramp to access the interior seating. (Which would not be a big deal unless it's raining :) Hope this information helps!
Awesome gem! Don't understand the two and three star reviews but we had great food (BLT/granola/sweet potato pancakes), great coffee, and great, friendly service. Clean restrooms too! Really loved this place!
The food is pretty good, however, the customer service is pretty bad!!!!! I go from time to time, forget how dissatisfied I was, and go back (because it's close to work), but I have to remember to NEVER return. If a sandwich to go costs $11, the customer service should be superior.
Perfect cure for a hangover or hangryness
Got lunch to go and it was disgusting
Great food bit of a wait. But #Sunday morning
Sweet potato biscuit with brown sugar syrup is a winner! The sweet potato pancakes are delish!
WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AND ON MY BIRTHDAY!! DEFINITELY THE PLACE TO BE..
Went there for bagel sandwiches and they were great! Not a wide selection, but they had the classics which is good. Good choices of cheeses for the sandwiches too. Coffee is delicious and extremely local. Also had the rustic Italian entree which is a pretty good sized portion and so tasty! Would be good for a relatively healthy choice for hangover food
The food is not worth the price they charge. Complicated menu with basic flavor..
Not bad for a quick lunch.
I forgot to pack my bagels this morning, and decided I couldn't do without, so I found myself at Highland Bakery. I was greeted promptly and warmly by smiling employees. The selection was good, and the plain bagel I got was amazing. I have no idea what they did to it (I've roasted my own bagels for several decades and never gotten this result!), but the toasting was perfect and it smelled divine. I'll be going back for certain.
Pretty good place to stop by for lunch. A friend from Atlanta recommended eating here while I visited the area. I had a grilled cheese which was good, and a cupcake. The cupcake was okay, a little too hefty on the butter side of the cream for me. I'm sure others would enjoy though. It is in a pretty building for sure.
Saturday mornings out front of this restaurant are nostalgic! The food is great the service is wonderful! I think I’m going to make this my favorite new breakfast spot after class!
Sweet potato biscuits are awesome.
Sludge drips from ceiling AC onto food. Disgusting.
I had an apple pastry with rotten apples! The pastry itself was soggy, which was bad enough, but the apples were brown on the underside and clearly way past their prime. My husband had a sweet potato pancake which was meh. Won’t return.
Customer service was great here. My complaint is with what I ordered. And I'm not sure how the rest of the items here are, but I ordered a Mango Tango smoothie and it was the most flavorless, bland, and overpriced smoothie I've ever had! They should stick to what they know because I am highly upset with that smoothie. Try something else in the menu before you get a smoothie
Really good sandwiches!
Consistent, very reasonable priced, outstanding food.. the best bakery in ATL
The lunch here is great, I found breakfast to be kind of plain. I really love the mini cupcakes and muffins, a great thing to take to the office and share with co workers!
Really good food and not a long wait time! It can feel a little cramped at times, but that's only because the food's so good, everyone wants to get in!
The original is much better than this 14th Street lunch spot
First time at this place. The food was great and the staff was very polite and helpful.
Great place for lunch, love the bbq pork sandwich.
I rarely leave reviews unless I've had an exceptionally poor or great experience somewhere. In this case, my experience was very poor. I came to Highland Bakery for a late lunch and ordered a turkey sandwich w/ a side spinach salad and they brought me 1/2 a sandwich and 1/2 a salad instead of a full sandwich and side salad. Furthermore, the sandwich had one small piece of turkey and the spinach in my salad was wilted and soggy. They didn't serve the salad w/ walnuts, as it was described on the menu. I then asked for the WiFi password and they told me that their WiFi password wasn't really working, so I had to use my hotspot for about an hour, which is no big deal, it just drained my phone's battery. All around just a crummy and disappointing experience.
The food is delicious, once they get your order right. I've ordered Breakfast and lunch on many occasions and on many occasions my order has been incorrect. When I ask for a Turkey Wrap I get Turkey on Bread, When I ask for Scrambled Eggs with bacon and a Croissant I get a Croissant Sandwich. When I ask for a Spinach Omelet I get a Slab of Eggs with half cooked spinach stuffed inside it. This morning is my last visit to Highland Bakery.
Smaller version of the famous Highland Bakery off Highland Ave. But still the same great food just a little less of the experience.
They don't proof their bagels and everything is overpriced.
Love this little 'hole in the wall'. Perfect for lunch or home made baked goods!
I cant speak for the lunch. But the breakfast is really poor. Good coffee/tea though.
Breakfast is average as a bowl of grits HINT to operators 1) limit the menu and just do about 5 things right 2) Prices a little high come down about 10% 3) Season your food, damn near the blandest in Atlanta
Excellent coffee. Not far from the High Museum of art. Bagels are only vegan option. Watch out: bagels are traditionally grilled here, not toasted.
It has such yummy food!
Small, fast paced bakery with a robust menu to cure any type of hunger pang. Plus a beautiful atrium to sit and enjoy people watching.
Friendly service and good food
I practically go there on a daily basis. Get the cilantro corn pancakes for a big meal and a grilled sweet potato biscuit for a little meal.
If you'd like to certain birthday cakes like I do as to place to go
Friendly service. Breakfast burrito was tasty and very filling, but a bit bland.
The Fresch toast is the Bomb!
Everything was great! Food and the customer service! The coffee was awesome!
Great place for a quick bite for lunch. Good food, good prices!!
Heard a lot of good things and went to get breakfast. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I could see how someone could say something about the customer service but at the same time people take things too personally an I don’t think it affected our experience at all. I don’t think I’d recommend it as a sit down type of place though. Taking our food to go was the best choice.
Great bakery
Incredibly expensive! My family of 4 all ordered omelets and the total came to $70!!! The grits were disgusting, the potatoes didn't have flavor and the toast was soggy. The omelets were the only thing that was good but not for the price. I do not recommend coming here if you are coming with friends or family. Too expensive.
Over priced. Would not consider this a bakery
I like the location where you can sit inside and enjoy the delicious breakfast their menu is vast Their peanut butter French toast was so delicious and big me and my wife couldn’t finish it along with other items. owner or manager was always walking around and checking on his customers if they need anything very nice place!! 5 ⭐️
Delicious food
The location is ideal before walking to the high museum but the food is odd. The menu reads quite well but doesn't deliver on taste. The tai noodle salad was not edible. The shrimp and grits were good.
Amazing breakfast and the customer service is absolutely amazing. So nice and sweet. This is my new favorite in ATLANTA.
A welcome treat after an early flight.
One of my favorite local places to grab breakfast. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so I'd say I use good judgement. There are multiple other places close by (starbucks, caribou coffee, einsteins, etc.) and I'd Highland Bakery over any of those places any day. Coffee is great, food is always fresh and delicious, and service is local and friendly.
Great brunch. Get the sweat potato pancakes
Original location is better
The pimento cheese is unique but SO GOOD. There's something mysterious and amazing in it.
Delicious and affordable! I had the sweet potato pancakes, they were perfectly sweetened and the brown butter syrup was amazing. The chopped pecans gave a nice balance of textures.
It's good but not worth waiting an hour for the biscuit to come out.
Great brunch spot on a Sunday! Recommend the biscuit sandwich and latte.
Great food and quick service
Overrated! Pancakes were thin and not fluffy at all. Biscuit that came with the omelet were completely different than the ones on display.... omelets were ok but not worth the money to add each ingredient. Coulda made em better at home for waaaay less money. Would not go back. Thumbs up even Ihop is better
I went to lunch here for the first time and got the Mediterranean sandwich with turkey. It was very good (perfectly toasted) and the service was excellent (cashier and server were very courteous)
Nice place for quick grabs with a variety of food options for breakfast and lunch
I just wanna say that the sweet potato pancakes are delicious!!
Peanut butter french toast for breakfast (1 serving can feed 2 NFL players) and Crab Burger for lunch.
The food here is good, but the space is a little awkward. The staff is friendly and warm, but the overall feel of the place does not compare to the original in the Old 4th Ward area of town.
Very nice staff
Extraordinarily good food! Definitely will eat there any chance I get.
Excellent service, delicious healthy food, validated parking!
Ack! I love the food here, but called to speak to someone about a delivered lunch for a corporate meeting. Was given two email addresses. Emailed one and cc'ed the other 24 hours ago. No response, so moving on...
Great vegetarian choice. Tasty food, fair price, and quick service.
Nice, reasonably priced little cafe in a good location.
Our experience at this Highland bakery was alright but not great. They had plenty of seats, and you order at the counter. I ordered the french toast (challah bread with vanilla cream, berries, and browned butter sauce), and the other people in my party ordered the blueberry ricotta pancakes and a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. When they brought the food out, somehow the french toast had changed to a half order of sweet potato pancakes, and sure enough that's what it said on the receipt (I didn't notice at checkout). I told the person who brought the food that I had ordered the french toast, and they eventually brought that out instead. I was somewhat disappointed to see that they only gave me a half portion, but it turned out to be more than enough. The french toast was very dry, and I didn't like the browned butter sauce much (it came on the side). The breakfast sandwich was alright, but the egg was cold. The ricotta pancakes were delicious, though, and I think we all wised we had ordered those.
Outstanding biscuit sandwich with fresh squeezed orange juice......a perfect match
Fun for the whole family
44 Minutes to get a half order of French Toast and a small bowl of granola! The only response to our complaint was “we only have four burners”. Didn’t seem to impact the people next to us that came after we did and got their eggs and bacon and toast within five minutes of sitting down. Never going back!
Valet never offered to park our car, got lost through parking deck, serve yourself type atmosphere and nothing like the location near the ATL beltline. Won't be back!
I had the most amazing sweet potato pancakes. The service was excellent and attentive. I'm definitely going to be back next time I'm that way.
Good place for breakfast. Quick and inexpensive. Try the peanut butter French toast is delicious
Great brunch. Bit of a line
Best French toast ever
Lost my paycheck here. Ordered 3 entrees. Rent isn't important.
Out of all the places I visited during my Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta this place was by far the worst. The service at the front desk was swift take our order and our money and that was all they were swift at. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get our food, when we did the order wasn’t correct, the kitchen made substitutes to our order without asking first, the food was cold, the cashier was rude, the kitchen staff were bickering with each other and then began to argue with me when I expressed my disappointment. I hated every moment of it. The smoked salmon plate could’ve been good if it wasn’t so overpriced. I will never recommend this place and I will make sure to share with everyone I know that this place sucks.
I didn't realize that they have a full brunch menu until I visited this little bakery in Midtown last weekend. We got the Hoppin' Highland and the corn-cakes, both of which were great!
Food is outstanding, prices reasonable and service is great. Try the heuvos burrito
French toast was huge and very good. I have been on Saturday mornings never busy then. They did run out of orange juice one time and had to give me apple instead.
The sweet potato biscuits with the brown sugar butter will change your life!!!
