Prices seem to have increased while service, cleanliness, and quality have decreased. Finding a clean table required getting an employee to clean one on our last two visits. Our feet stick to the floor as we walk. My wife's meal should have come with a muffin. We were told fresh muffins were coming out of the oven - maybe they came out, but they never came to us. I ran out of bacon 2/3's of the way through my BLT. We keep returning - keep hoping it'll revert back to the great little cafe we fell in love years ago, but we've become more disappointed with each visit.

Wow! You’d think someone with a published cookbook endorsed Paula Deen would have good eats. Not this place. We’ve been several times trying to like it but it’s just not happening. Vegetables are always cooked to oblivion and served lukewarm. I just finished a chicken salad sandwich that had absolutely no flavor except for mayonnaise. My wife’s quarter chicken was questionable in doneness. Also not hot. Anywhere I pay $10 for a meal I expect a little better but Gabriel’s has lost us as costumers. We grew up in the south and Gabriel’s definitely isn’t like Mamma used to make.

Delicious, home cooking. Traditional burgers and sandwiches along with entree plates like meatloaf and fried chicken. The bakery is top notch. Good family restaurant. They sell paintings by local artists. It has been featured in magazines. Great place for families. No alcohol.

I've been to Gabriel's before their remodeling and the food was pretty good don't know what happened this last time but I ordered meatloaf and it was barely warm and had a pasty fatty consistency that made me feel like I was eating lard and the tomato paste was ridiculously sweet. I asked for the country fried steak instead...it was refried in dirty oil so it was yucky brown and the coating was so crunchy that I picked it off and ate the bland "steak" underneath. The greens were awesome but the green beans were overcooked therefore mushy. $12 and 1 1/2 hours I'll never get back. Bad day for Gabriel's?... I don't know, but not interested in returning to find out.

By far the worst bakery in the Marietta and the City of Atlanta! This used to be an awesome establishment. The new management in the custom desserts and bakery department has taken this place down. They will not get your order right and this happened to me multiple times. Barbara is the most unprofessional person on staff. She was rude and twice she has taken my order down wrong and didn't have ready for my special day. Buyer Beware! Do not trust your special day with these people. The Gabriel's Legacy is gone down the drain.

Excellent Southern food and amazing desserts. The new Interior lacks the old appeal and humanizing warmth of it's local art...Perhaps the wall canvases will once again be charming as the renovation is complete. Gabriel's is wonderful...and Johnnie Gabriel is the real deal. You should try it.

This establishment used to be nothing but satisfactory, but today was the last time I will ever visit Gabriel’s. They were out of virtually everything I was interested in and we visited before dinner time begun. It is simply not because they were busy, there were only two other people in the restaurant. While I had ordered Macaroni and Cheese, there seemed to be potatoes and onions intertwined in the food. I found this very alarming and unappealing AND disturbing seeing as those things do not come in the Macaroni and Cheese. They also do not have paper towels in the bathroom, nor any ketchup available to it’s customers. VERY disappointed.

A nice place to eat. Great pastries. It is counter service for dine in meals. The staff is friendly. The food is good. I am a big fan of the chicken and dumplings. One caveat. The clientele skews older. They are busy after church, but not crazy. This is not a hip eatery, but they just make good food in a nice environment.

If you like to eat healthy, this is NOT the place for you. The hash browns - more like hash patties - tasted like zeppoles, as did the waffles. Both were deep fried. Don't know WHAT is up with their biscuits and gravy but they have a very unique (strange) flavor and the salt content is off the charts! On a good note, our eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was nice and crispy. Bottom line, food was just okay and we will not return as we prefer healthier options. Deep fried breakfast is not for us.

Quality of food was OK at best. It's not really what I would call true southern homestyle cooking. I've had better, but I've had worse. For the price, and inconvenience of having to stand in line to order your food, you're much better off dining at someplace like Folks. The food (in my opinion) is just as good, if not better, and wait staff take your orders while you remain comfortably seated. I personally had the country fried steak (not bad), but mashed potatoes were dry, white gravy was almost water it was so thin, and their biscuits, while OK, had a familiarity to them (very similar to Pillsbury frozen biscuits). Your experience may be different, but I don't see myself revisiting this establishment.

First visit, had heard really great things - we were not disappointed! The selections were very good, and the food was also very good. Wonderful selection of baked goods. We'll return - we want to try some other yummy sounding menu items.

I came in for breakfast -- didn't see any signage about ordering at the counter, but stood at the front for a few moments. No one spoke with me, so I sat down at a table. No one came to the table or spoke to me in the 15 minutes I sat there. If it were busy, I might be more understanding, but there was only one diner, who left while I was seated. At the counter, there was someone who sounded like a credit card processing salesperson, who seemed to be dominating the staff's attention. I was very disappointed, considering the good things I've heard before coming in.

I was panicked when I discovered--four days before the event--that the restaurant where we'd planned to host my sister-in-law's baby shower had closed its doors without warning. We had to scramble to find another location that could accommodate a large party on such short notice. I called Gabriel's, with my fingers crossed, and spoke to Susan, who could not have been kinder. She was friendly, understanding and amazingly generous in offering options at Gabriel's. The shower couldn't have gone better. In fact, I believe we lucked out that our initial restaurant closed. The staff was warm, friendly and patient with our group. The food was tremendous and affordable, and I walked away feeling like the luckiest host in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gabriel's. You truly went above and beyond for us and we'll be forever grateful that we were able to spend time making memories in your lovely space.

Gabriel’s is a southern classic when it comes to their bakery and their lunch options. The okra is cooked perfectly and it makes me feel at home! Anytime my family has a big party they order a cake from here and everyone asks where it’s from. Highly recommend dining in or just picking up a sweet treat!

THE best cakes in the biz. This business expanded from a home to a small shop to a large restaurant and carry out. Another restaurant just opened north of Marietta and one at ATL Hartsfield airport. Quite the success story. One taste of Red Velvet cake, Italian Cream cake or cookies are a bit of Heaven. The owner stuck with what worked , varied very little and even has a couple of recipe books. During day, night restaurant features dinners, veggies, wonderful soup and plenty of seats, tables. A bag to go is a nice supper too! Dress is casual. But a date, after Church or on way to a night out is fun . I like little fresh flower/s on table. Lots of windows with frequent displays of local artists works on the walls. I believe the homemade to gourmet feel is worth it. Priced a bit more because: This is never a grocery store bakery cake. Your friends will love what you buy for an inlaw birthday party, a Christmas party, more. I am buying 2 chocolate, layered cakes for Christmas 2018. Gabriel's showcases wedding cakes, desserts and homemade meals that are consistent and host a variety of tastes. Parking is a bit tricky sometimes... that should tell you a clue! :) Staff is so good, always ask if your order is completed, etc. Restaurant is clean. You may have a small wait....but for me? All the way, every bit- 5 stars.

***BEWARE*** I ordered a baby shower cake from Gabriel’s with very specific instructions on the design, which included fresh flowers and fondant baby shoes as the cake topper. I emailed Barbara, the manager of the bakery side, these specifics with pictures and she said they would be happy to make the cake I requested. I drove over an hour from my home to Gabriel’s the day before the baby shower only to find that the cake had NO topper at all. No flowers. No fondant baby shoes. When I asked why those things were missing I was told by Barbara that they “never do fresh flowers.”

I ordered a cake from them via email because I no longer live in Marietta, but I was co-hosting a baby shower in the city. We ordered a strawberry cake for the shower's desert. Threw a ton of Pinterest photos and ideas at their staff lead for cake design via email. Gabriel's made a great tasting, and just as amazing looking, cake for the shower. Not the cheapest place to order from but worth it for the quality of work that they will do for your special event. The first photo is of the cake after we served it. The cake was 100% editable, including the rattle topper, which was made out of fondant and rice crispy treats. The dots are fondant, but the base of the cake was the butter cream that Gabriel's normally serves with their strawberry cake. Amazing work by their staff, matching our theme and invite design with our cake ideas, especially considering that I wasn't local and couldn't come in to explain what I wanted. They went beyond what I wanted for our baby shower cake. I highly recommend Gabriel's cakes for any event that you might be planning.

OK, but nothing special. The food was fine but I was a little perturbed about the up charges. I ordered the Roast Garden Salad (sandwich). From the choice of breads I selected a baguette. That generated an up charge of $.50. The "baguette" was really soft Italian bread. I opted for the house chips over bag chips. Another $1.00 up charge. The chips were very dark and hard cooked and had no flavor other than burnt oil. My companion ordered the Classic Reuben. It had thick slices of corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese. It was served hot on toasted (not grilled) bread. Overall, though, it was a well made sandwich. Her only up charge was for the house chips, which see didn't like either. The owner is well known in Marietta for her baked goods. I believe you won't go wrong buying pies and pastries here. Lunch may be another story.

I called this past Friday to see if they had their normally delicious caramel pound cake. They did not. The woman that answered the phone was very nice and accommodating. She found out they could frost one and have it ready by 2. Fast forward to dinner at 7. I cut the cake and it immediately started crumbling and falling apart. The cake was so dry that no one ate it. Gabriel's cakes are not cheap and that was NOT a freshly baked cake. The quality of food has really suffered the past few months. I will have to find another place to get a freshly baked caramel pound cake.

Why they stopped serving breakfast I really can't say. Seems to me that when your only weekday competition is the local Waffle House, you'd want to stand out and be the much better alternative. So you walk in, to this giant dining room expecting something great looking at the dessert box mouth salivating, great presentation. But then everyone ignores you, no good morning no Hi! No wave.. Finally you get someone's attention and they tell you they don't serve breakfast. ... Grumble CHANGE YOUR NAME. This is no longer a restaurant at this point it's just a bakery. Save your time, and owner: BRING BACK BREAKFAST!

This local eatery close to the square in Marietta has absolutely delicious cakes. Made at the shop. I have been sampling the different flavors over the years and can't pick a favorite. They sell standard 10 inch (3 layer) cakes, and also smaller 7 inch (yes, also 3 layer). But, if you just want a slice, yup that is also available. Now, it's not just a cake place, they have a sit down breakfast restaurant.

The staff behind the counter always seem annoyed with helping and answering ingredient questions. Very short curt answers. Which is really, really unfortunate since an amazing bakery is so hard to come by. Today I was in that shopping center and didn't even consider stopping.

I hadn't been here in over a year. I remembered how good their food and desserts were and wanted my husband to try them. We will definitely return for the desserts but not for a meal. It was the start of lunch time around 1130. There was only one other customer in the restaurant. Our food was lukewarm when we received it. I had the roasted chicken and I did not enjoy it at all. It was very bland and not cooked throughly. I actually took the chicken home to cook a little more to give to my dog. The macaroni looked really good but had no taste...it was bland also. The fried okra was the best part of our meal besides the desserts. My husband had the fried chicken breast. Said he'll never return again. I gave a three star because the desserts were a five star but the meal was a one star.

Great food, and I know it's a busy time, But I've been trying to pick up a pumpkin pie for TWO days. I've called and stopped by, but they keep telling me different stories. First I call, they tell me to call 1st thing in a.m. I call. We don't know what we're going to have. Really? We'll know better by 10. I go to Marietta store. Lady just looks at me blankly. We don't have any. I'll wait. Goes in back, returns and tells me they'll be doing pumpkin pies at 3. Wanna bet they won't have any then either? That's the trouble with really successful businesses; they have so many customers, they no longer care about individuals because another will come along. Sad.

We did an impromptu party after finally getting a good read on an ultrasound and keeping it a surprise From even ourselves! I literally dropped off the envelope on a Wednesday afternoon and she had the gorgeous and as ever delicious cake made by Friday afternoon! The whole family raves about how pretty of a cake it was, and when we cut into it we were so surprised! (It’s a boy!!!!) thanks Barbara!

Their cakes are amazing!! Had we just served cake we’d be giving them a 5, easy! But we reserved the Market Room for a family event and were planning on serving a light brunch as well. Herein lies their problem. We had about 25 people, and ordered a couple quiches and a French toast casserole. The quiches were fine, bacon one was delicious. Then we have the casserole. We were told it would serve 20-24. However, it would have been a stretch to serve this to 8 people invited to my home for a meal. It was about a 6 x 8 pan with a super thin layer of casserole in the bottom. I’m talking an inch maybe an inch and a half thick tops. It was yummy, but for $80 that’s an atrocity!!! The cake we ordered was 4 inches high and a 9 x 13 pan size, three layers and we were told THAT serves 20-24 and cost $80 as well. One would imagine the casserole should have been closer to the size of the cake. As a business, I would have been embarrassed to serve this French toast casserole to a party. It would serve 20-24 if each person literally had one bite. Unacceptable.

Love all the desserts here. The strawberry cake is amazing and so is the fudge pie. My only negative recently is when I have eaten there and they don't have any napkins on the table. They bring you one with your meal and then you have to ask for extra. Same with ketchup too.
