Two stories for you. 1) Got our wedding cakes from there years ago, it was amazing and tasted even better. The prices were pretty good for everything, but we had a little bit of wiggle room, so we went with something more extravagant. Honestly, it was worth every penny. 2) I stopped in just out of curiosity and just picked one up for my wife's birthday. (It was in their display) It was a 3-4 person cake and paid $25 for it. (I think) My wife, daughter and me left no crumbs behind. Staff is very friendly, Kim is very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend the place.

If you have an intricate cake design that does not come directly from one of their many design books that are laying around the lobby of the bakery I wouldn't recommend coming here. Because of the high reviews I decided to give this bakery a chance and I'm sorely dissapointed that I did. On March 20th I ordered a boss baby cake for my son's first birthday party. The lovely woman behind the counter who was assisting me (I'm assuming that I was speaking to Nicole because that's the name on my receipt) assured me that my cake (which I had pictures of and even sent the pictures to an email provided for this exact use) would be exactly what I asked for (2 layers of yellow cake with the bottom layer covered in black fondant with a design that looked like a tie and a white top layer with dark blue words spelling out "boss baby" in fondant) and it wasn't. What I did receive (on the p/u date of 4/20/19)was a cake that had the bottom layer exactly how I asked for it (see description) but instead of the dark blue fondant wording that spelled out "boss baby" I instead recieved an edible sticker that was lifting on both sides and smeared on the top right corner by someone's wet hands. When ordering the cake, Nicole assured me that everything would be made of fondant and that they were more than capable of handling the order. It's my son's first birthday after having a tough and life threatening labor and delivery! Money was not an option when it came to his party. When I went into the bakery to speak to a manager, the owner kim was there and I took my troubles to her. She was very polite (at first) and went to pull our order sheet. Apparently the cashier Nicole never charged me for fondant wording even though I asked for it REPEATEDLY. When pointing that out, Kim went and found a young lady named Jenny and they exchanged words. When I tried to tell her that I was disgruntled about the way the cake that I spent $192.05 on, she became very dismissive. After the shift in her demeanor and she noticed that I was not leaving as she expected she offered me a percentage off of my "next cake purchase" as if I would EVER return after her staff messed up my son's cake and after her attitude towards me. I went into the cake shop looking for nothing and I am still dissapointed. So, like I said; If you have an intricate cake design that does not come directly from one of their many design books that are laying around the lobby of the bakery I wouldn't recommend coming here. UPDATE!:I said no such thing about the smudge in the corner. I told you this is how the cake looked when I got to my event location. And you didn't care. What I said was that I tried to smooth down the corners that were lifting and that it didn't work. One thing for certain is that I may be many things in this life but never once was I a liar. May I suggest that you properly train yourself and your staff so that an incomptent mess like this does not happen again. I have said my peace and left it alone, I advise you to do the same. I hope you and your staff have good luck on your future endeavors.

She did everything and more that I wanted for my wedding cake. My dream cake was confusing and different but she pulled it off and it was amazing and yummy! Cheesecake at the top with cherry drizzle.. And 4 tiers of cheese cake cupcakes along with other cupcakes. All the guest were in love it it was perfect! Simple and everyone could just grab a cupcake. Thank you Kim and the crew for my amazing wedding cake and delivering it to Lancaster Pa! My day was amazing and the cake was my god yuuuummmmmy!!!!! Go here if you have a vision she will create it.

Our wedding cake was so delicious! We got 3 layers, all different flavors. 1st layer - Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. 2nd layer - Marble cake with white chocolate mousse and raspberry jam. 3rd layer - Yellow cake with custard and real strawberries. I gave Kim an inspiration photo from Pinterest for my cake and it turned out exactly as the photo! Her cakes are always so moist (I know that word...ew) but its the truth. They are so fresh and dense and the icing is fabulous too! We even ordered my bday cakes after my wedding from her. You will not be disappointed!

I got my wedding cake from Cakes By Kim and I couldn’t be happier. People rave about how tasty the cake was, and it turned out absolutely beautiful. We also ordered muffins and a small birthday cake for the morning of my wedding and they were perfect, too! Kim has been so sweet and helpful! This was my first experience with Kim, but it definitely won’t be my last!

Horrible ordered a strawberry shortcake it barely had strawberries in the cake. This was my second time ordering from them and I will never go back. Too pricey for not good quality work. Also i called and was told Kim would call me back, it’s going on a month still have not got a call. So i will take my money somewhere else next time. And will never recommend this place to anyone. I have been dealing with Kim since she was doing out of her home. There were cakes that the decorates could have been better. I just recently within the last year have had problems with her staff. Back in June, i purchased a cake for my daughter bday. I had paid for the cake and threw the change in my bra. I left the store not within 8 mins of leaving the store they are calling me. Could u come back to the store because the girl gave u too much change. Really??!!! Thats my fault!! Just because im not that type of person i turn around and to gi e the change back. When i arrived there and told the girl u still owe me money back. She couldnt even get me the right change back the second time around. As of 9/6/16, i went to order a cake and i spent prolly 10 mins on the phone. I just said i will call back to speak to kim. I called back the next day. I ask for kim someone by the name of Liz( the manager) came on the line. Her customer service skills suck. I get do you want to order the cake by now im just pissed, i just hung up the phone. Thinking to myself should i order the cake or just stop getting cakes from there. I called back and speaking with liz again i told her to inform kim that she lost a customer due to their poor ass customer service. Liz then says you are a f***ing white trash and hungs up the phone. Great customer service!! Great management skills!!

Kim helped us with our wedding cake this November. The tasting was phenomenal, she was incredibly prepared, kind, and patient. It felt nearly impossible to choose when all of the flavors and fillings were equally incredible! Kim is very professional, responds quickly to emails, and is very sweet. Her cake was complimented all night and she did gorgeous work on the floral arrangement cascading down it. I will continue to contact Kim for all future life events. I will go OUT OF MY WAY to give this amazing woman and her team my business. Going with her is a no-brainer.

I wanted to once again say "Thank You" to Kim. Our family won 2 birthday cakes from WSTW a couple of months apart. We weren't able to get up within the 30 days. We live in Middletown, so we don't get up the way too often. Kim was gracious enough to let us pick up both cakes today. I appreciated the fact that she did this for me when she didn't have to. Worst experience ever! I ordered a cake and sent a picture of what I wanted. Asked for shades of blue. Given a cake with 1 figure thinking I was getting 2 and in pink the one color my daughter does not like. Paid over $100 for it not worth it. The kids didn't even like the taste of it and my dad got sick from it Saturday night. The damn thing is still on our table because no one even wants to eat it. They gave me $20 off it. Really?

I had used Kim for years. I had requested she do my wedding cake. I had texted her and gave my date of July 2. My husband mom and I met with Kim on February 13 to do A tasting. We decided that we wanted to get a fresh anniversary cake on July 2, 2017 versus freezinh too layer It took Kim awhile but she sent me a copy of the bill. The information never said wedding was 2017. I checked in with Kim on June 24 to discuss the final payment. I told her I was nervous and she told me to enjoy. On July 2 as I was getting ready to go into my reception I was informed that the hall had tried to reach Kim with no success. The specialized cake that I had dreamed of had not been delivered. This was also the only dessert we had to serve. My cousin finally reached her via Facebook as we walked into the hall. Well into the reception a cake came with none of my flavors and d that look nothing like what I wanted. The cake was frozen in the middle and caused a great amount of issue for the staff as they try to cut. According to Kim I was on the books for 2017. All this odd in doing a tasting in Feb and checking in. This was highly unprofessional. I agree people make mistakes but this impacted our wedding day. The cake and pictures were most important.

Ordered a cake online on Monday 11/13 to be picked up on 11/16. I arrive to pickup my cake and the cake was never made. So now I have to wait for a new cake. In addition I have the pleasure of being late to work and still paying full price for a rush job cake. The half hearted apology did not make the situation better. Cake was delicious but this experience will make me reconsider ordering again.

My sister in-law has a gluten allergy so ordering a cake became a challenge but hands down Cakes By Kim made awesome suggestions and made the ordering process a breeze! For such a tiny place, I was amazed at the excellent varieties they offer. My daughter and (soon to be) son in law are getting their wedding cake from here. We went for a cake tasting and it was difficult to choose only 3 flavors because they were all exceptional. Kim and her husband are very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. There are plenty of parking spaces.

My daughter and I stopped in this bakery to buy some cupcakes today after taking our cat to the vet. I realize this is primarily a place to order cakes for events, but if they're going to sell cupcakes from a display, then they should not be so god-awful tough and stale and dry that they're inedible. Because who would ever order cake from this shop if this is an indication of what they'll get? So far three of the six we purchased, all different flavors, have been terrible, and I'm thinking I should just toss the rest in the trash. Not at all the way to represent the products if you want customers to order them. So disappointing. EDIT 7/30/18: I appreciate the gracious response from the owner and have increased the star rating to reflect this prompt customer service. I look forward to trying some cupcakes that are up to the shop's standard of quality. EDIT 8/19/18: This weekend my daughters and I enjoyed our replacement cupcakes and they were *delicious. The chocolate peanut butter and the strawberry were our favorites. Kim could not have been nicer, and since we realized we lived near one another, she delivered the cupcakes to my door!

If you're looking for an over priced mediocre cake then this is your place. My cake has no height to it and none of the decorations were done to my specifications. I know the bakery business. I could have gotten this exact cake at a shop rite for around $30. Though I would expect to pay more at a specialty bakery. But this cake that I received was not worth $75. Too bad I paid up front. Don't pay unless you like the cake. They don't follow directions well. So speak slowly and clearly, repeat yourself several times. Maybe they will get your order correct. I even wrote everything that I wanted myself. UPDATE: today was the party. I was told that the cake would have a layer of icing. In the middle supposedly to make the cake higher. When we cut in to the cake there was no layer of anything in the middle. And the cake wasn't even properly leveled. The decorator simply turned the cake upside down to make the top flat. Which explains why the cake was slightly lopsided. I myself am a cake decorator. I no longer do it professionally and did not have time to do it for this party. But I can tell you from experience that this only comes down to laziness and being cheap.

Horrible customer service pretty much sums it up. Placed an order for a cake to pick up on a certain day/time. Once we arrived, they didn't know what we were talking about because no such order was placed. This was very concerning because numerous phone conversations re: order confirmation, design and wording were had throughout the week. Only after vehemently saying we never placed an order did they hastily fulfill the order requiring the evening's plans to be significantly altered. The manager, Cathy, should take heed to customer retention and customer relation tactics. Her nonchalant approach and lack of urgency in addressing the debacle we had to endure and the bakery's obvious oversight was ridiculous and down right insulting . As a result, we will NOT be returning to CBK as our expectations were not met - in the least.

If you are seeking professionalism, take your business elsewhere! My friend and I ordered a cake for a special occasion. When my friend timely arrived to pick it up, she was told that she was at the wrong cake shop. After she insisted they were mistaken, the staff person did more digging. All in the end, the staff person that took the cake order put it in the wrong pile!? So my friend and I were stuck just a couple of hours before our event with NO CAKE. Though the girls at the shop quickly put something together, it caused us to be late for our event. We paid full price for the cake and received a lackluster apology. Even if a discount were not offered, a genuine apology would have been greatly appreciated. However, neither is unacceptable. Cakes by Kim... two thumbs down.

Idk about all those other reviews but this is my story... I was looking for a specific cake with a certain filling a certain look for my birthday I looked everywhere and no one could help I finally stumbled upon cakes by Kim and read the reviews and was s bit iffy about it so I went into the shop myself first impression wasn't that impressed but I thought hey give it a try so I showed the girl a picture of my cake and right off the bat she knew exactly what I was talking about I ordered the cake on a Saturday picked it up on Monday at 1:00 and it was exactly everything I wanted it was wonderful the whipped cream the star worries everything tasted fresh and handmade from scratch I have no complaints the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I asked for chocolate shavings but they kind of over did it a little and I had to pick it off because I didn't like it but other than that all thumbs up for cakes by Kim ❤️ And the staff was friendly and welcoming I had no bad service

I attended a birthday party, for my nephew, this weekend... When the cake was delivered, it was damaged in several places and considerably smaller than what was ordered... My sister immediately called about the cake and was told to email a picture of the damage... She received an email back stating they are not responsible for their cakes, once they leave their bakery... Cakes by Kim's delivery guy delivered it! This wasn't a cake we picked up and "oops", accidentally damaged it... We paid EXTRA to have Cakes by Kim deliver it! ... I've purchased cakes from here, before... I've also recommended this bakery to many others... But, not anymore... The unprofessional way this issue was handled has left a bitter taste in my mouth and they definitely lost some customers, this weekend...

I just got a cake from here today OCT 22! For my first baby shower . Me and my mother specifically went back two weeks before the due date and made sure they had everything right that we asked . My mom picked up the cake which you guys are glad she did because with what it looks like I wouldn't have left without something being done to the cake before me walking out! I will take a picture of the cake now and show a picture of what the cake is suppose to look like . This cake was specifically in your book at your store. We had special specifications of what we wanted written on the cake and you guys just decided to do whatever you wanted to do!!! I'm so upset I don't even want to go have my baby shower anymore . Okay, so I LOVE the owner, Kim. Absolutely adore her. She totally came to my rescue two years ago when another well known local custom cake place was supposed to be making my son's birthday cake and somehow it slipped through the cracks and when I called to pay they basically told me I was out of luck bc they didn't have enough time at that point to make it. I called Cakes by Kim and she was awesome and did a great job. BUT...I have been in to the shop three times to pick up orders and the young ladies behind the counter could really use some help with their customer service skills. Two of the three times they had a seriously hard time even finding the cake and all three times they were just not really pleasant- no smiling, didn't give me a bag for the small cake that would have easily fit into one and just doesn't leave you feeling like you had a pleasant interaction when you leave- and considering at that point I have usually spent well over $100 I feel like a smile and a plastic bag isn't asking too much.

Cakes by Kim did my wedding cupcake cake. When they arrived to my house on the day of my wedding the box of cupcakes was smashed in and about 8 cupcakes were squished beyond repair. My caterer called because i was to upset to talk to anyone about the cakes as it was supposed to be perfect. And mine and my husbands cake on the top of the tower was supposed to have decorations on it but when it arrived it was just place white icing with some swirls on the top. The cupcakes were delicious but overall I was disappointed in the presentation. She did however send us a gift certificate for an anniversary which I thought was nice.

HORRIBLE. Worst experience ever and after all the referrals I have given this place. They charged a fortune for what turned out to be a disaster and my Goddaughter was horribly devastated. $35 for cupcakes with a slid on graphic? The top baby bump slid completely off, and we had to buy a replacement cake because they wanted to charge me for a whole other cake. The ACME cake was better tasting, more moist and alot cheaper a 1 /4 of the cost than what they wanted to charge me. Not to mention, the design alone was not as nice as it should've been. NEVER AGAIN!

Very overpriced cakes! They wanted to charge me $158 for a 8 inch Shopkins cake. then when I told her the price was to high she said she could do a photo cake for $56! for that I can go to acme and get it for $14-$20.. Thankfully I found 3 bakers that asked me $56 for a 10 inch Shopkins cake and were shocked when I told them the price cakes by Kim was asking for!

Although the ordering of the cake was a little shaking when dealing with the young lady who took the order, I was very happy with the end product. All three layers were delicious and I will order from them again. Delivery fee was worth not having to take the risk of the cake being damaged in transport. I was worried due to some of the reviews here but I am grateful that I was pleased with the product I received.
