Sweeties cafe is a gem in the heart of New London. Nearly everything is made from scratch and everything is made with love. The owner is awesome and so is everyone that works there. At one point was going here for breakfast and lunch three times a week! Now, still a regular my sweeties fever has calmed but my love for this place is just as deep. Highly recommend

I haven't been there

I have been told by countless people to try this small bakery nestled into the bustling bank street downtown area. I finally made it to brunch on Saturday and could not have been more presently met by my talked up expectations. Delicious in every way! All the food prepared by these Johnson and Wells chefs is top notch. Nothing is forgotten when it comes to the fresh ingredients used to perfect the edible masterpieces. A must go!

Terrible corned beef hash. Served corned beef and potatoes in chunks. Eggs were too well done. Irish soda bread was hard and tasteless. Nice people, but came for food.

Everything they have is made from scratch. I had one of the specials (The Fat Cat, overall it was fairly good but the bacon jam on it was excellent) and their cantaloupe juice (the glass was rimmed with sprinkles held in place with white chocolate). They get major props for the attention and care they put in each dish. While not the best meal I've had, the atmosphere was wonderful and the service was very friendly and personable. My table was not checked on frequently as they were busy and not many people were working, but I had a good experience and would be very happy to go back and try another dish.

Great atmosphere, great food, and good management.

We had a nice breakfast this morning but were summarily told "no ordering off menu" which meant you could only choose from the rather huge portions that are specifically listed ON their menu. If you have a smallish appetite, or a health issue, and don't want to consume 100s to 1000s of calories for breakfast, you may want to give them a pass. I was able to order a breakfast sandwich (still too much, but better than the "three egg classic." ) The food and the coffee were very good, and the decor is cute. I just don't like being told what I can consume for breakfast when I'm the person who knows my needs and limitations.

So glad we stopped into Sweetie's for breakfast yesterday! This was our first time there (and first time in the area) and we will absolutely be making a trip back! Every single staff member was so kind and hospitable - you could tell that they truly cared about their guests and wanted to make sure that everyone in the restaurant was enjoying themselves. The food was absolutely delicious (we had the 3 egg special and the blueberry pancakes) and the décor/ambiance is adorable. Highly recommend!

Should update operating hours on the website. Website states they are open Tuesday-Friday, arrived on Thursday paper sign stating they are closed on weekdays.

Beware My husband and myself had found a wonderful new breakfast place Sweeties in New London. During our first visit there last month we had a wonderful experience with amazing food. Today we wanted to repeat the experience and decided to go again. Myself, hubby and our 18 month old daughter all bundled up to have an amazing Sunday breakfast. Upon entering the restaurant we immediately saw that there were only two tables open, a four top and a bar level table 3 top. The woman behind the counter told us that if we did choose the 4 top we may be kicked out of our seats half way through the meal and made to move to the higher table to accommodate a bigger party if they came. The 3 top bar level table was so tall that the high chair would not even be functional. We went and sat at the 4 top table and when the waitress did come over I wanted to clarify what I had heard. Yes, we would be moved from our seats in order to accommodate a bigger party. So myself, hubby and baby would be made to move from a 4 top table. When i pressed her further she told me that accommodating patrons was like Tetris and that she just does what the boss tells her. I was extremely uncomfortable by this exchange and decided to leave. I’ve never heard of a restaurant kicking people out of their tables mid way through a meal in order to accommodate a bigger party. Further more moving a table with a young child to a bar level table that wouldn’t even be a safe place or an appropriate height for a 18 month old or high chair. Sweeties is not a family friendly restaurant/ bakery and doesn’t appear to care about the accommodations/ needs of their patroons. Very disappointed. We did however go to the Blu Squid in mystic which was very accommodating and while we waited for a table they served us coffee. Sweetie's Bakery and Cafe

I absolutely love freshly made food from exquisite ingredients. Chef Aaron does not disappoint. It feels like walking back into the 50's with a family, hometown vibe. I have never eaten anything there that I disliked. Sweeties cannot be duplicated.

This place is amazing I found it by accident. But they have been so friendly and wholesome with delicious food and warm company.. lol even if my coffee cup always says drama queen.

Amazing experience all around !

I had the KC Bomb Biscuits. My girlfriend had the Head Honcho. Dear. Lord. It was fantastic. The eggs were just perfect, both on her sandwich and my platter. The gravy is a genuine lifestyle choice, and the cheese biscuits would require permits from planning and zoning in any other town. I love it. We'll be back.

The food is flat out delicious. You can tell it is prepared by a chef. The specials are creative and just right: I love that the sweet dishes, like french toast, aren't too sweet, very balanced. The staff is very friendly, and you feel like part of the family when you visit. All the breads are homemade and you can buy loaves to take home, too. Yummy treats in the case are always tempting. Great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

What a rude people. I want to get cupcake and iced coffee, but there was out of cupcake. That's fine. So i ordered iced coffee, And she trying to get ice. I told 'small size please' She definetely heard me, But she asked to other people, 'i didn't hear'. In front of me. That is super weired. You can talk to me. She acted like racist. 'What a rude' And she told me back i'm rude. I think she is crazy. Talk to other people 'i didn't hear' in front of that people. You don't have to be super nice, but you never ignore the customer. It's pretty interesting to get APOLOGIZE after i wrote review. That girl told me 'ok, go away'. Don't lie to me. She was definetely rude. And she told 'you are rude'. And you saw everything. Please read other review about her. She have a problem. And thanks to your lie, i'm gonna write down at tripadvisor also.

The food is great, the owners are great and it has a quaint little outside spot to sit down with your coffee on a sunny day.

John Scimone

Small place, but the food and the wait staff are genuine!

Just ate at Sweetie's for the first time- hands down best breakfast in the area! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was unique & fun. Had never noticed this businsss on Bank Street but so glad we found it. The owner was super personable, too. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend while in the SECT area.

I thought it looked adorable which was why I walked in. The lady behind the counter was very nice and immediately attentive. She informed is that they make everything from scratch including the mayo and ketchup. That is really wonderful, however the smell was so overpoweringly bad inside that I could never eat there! I couldn't really place the smell. My friend said maybe really old grease? I thought it smelled like a terribly dirty house. Everything is cute inside but it's dingy, almost like leftovers from when you could smoke indoors. This was sad because I believe the other reviews about how good the food must be.

Amanda Pachomski

Delicious breakfast, lunch, and dessert and everything is made from scratch! And, they're vegetarian-friendly! Such a cute little place.

The breakfast is so amazing and so filling. The staff is so kind and genuine enough so small talk feels more like you're saying hello to an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, even though you've just met the waitress. I could not give this place anymore of a reccomendation to anyone looking for breakfast in New London!

Ryan Kellett

Got a breakfast sandwich and owner pulls out giant loaf of bread and freshly sliced two thick slices. Huge meal for breakfast!

Nadia King

Lance Casey

Fantastic food, great atmosphere, best little cafe on bank street. Worth the wait when and if there is one.

Marg Chauvin

My motto is "Never pass up a local bakery!" You will be glad you stopped. Though it was near closing time the owner made me a fresh pot of coffee, and Expresso for my companion. We both found the drinks perfect. Add to that Vanilla Cheesecake with fresh fruit and you have the perfect late afternoon snack. Be certain to chat with the staff who were happy to discuss the area, gardening, spices, and u-pick fields.

Aaron Dronberger

Matt Parke

Great food and the service is always friendly. They have custom made specials; fruit combos with waffles or pancakes. The seating is a bit tight and the AC is pretty weak in the hot months.

The desserts and latte are great! If not a bit pricey, but solid for sure.

Took my mother for a belated mother's day breakfast, the pastries are wonderful, the omelettes leave something to be desired. Most of the staff was very friendly but it felt like the was a lot of tension in the kitchen

Very small so not for big parties. Food is amazing though. I mean that in all sincerity. The few times I've been out this way I stopped to eat here and both times the special I ordered simply blew my mind. Great service, reasonably priced, amazing quality.

Sweetie’s is the neatest little cafe on Bank Street in New London. The owners met in culinary school, and it’s clear that they bring passion to their cooking and baking. I came for Sunday brunch in late January with a friend. We were seated right away and had a chance to try some of the breakfast sandwiches and home fries. I can’t wait to come back and try some of their pastries.

Ashlyn Cleys

Small places like this are my favorite! The food is so good and they have a nice variety for breakfast and the specials are phenomenal!! The staff is friendly and the service is great. They make their own bread and sausage, and they are delicious. This is my new favorite breakfast spot!

Brandi Owney
