This Bakery belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Great food, great service, great place! Parking was only $5 with validation. So we heard about this place on Bosch (on Amazon Video), and it did not remotely disappoint! The food (we had breakfast) was amazing! There was a small issue with the bill, where we were accidentally charged twice for one of our plates, but it was quickly corrected by our server. All around a great experience!
Great food, fun watching people
Very good, but pricey. You got get here early for breakfast or it will be a long wait.
Went to this spot for breakfast. The food, in no way, justifies the extremely expensive cost. For example, veggie omelet with hash and toast was $15.95, a side of short stack banana pancakes with whip cream was $15.90 (ummm what?? $32 for 1 person for breakfast??) and it was just ok. It was really cold inside the restaurant and they refused to close the door or turn up the heat. Our waiter was just ok. With so many better options in LA, I will not be returning and it goes without saying that I do not recommend.
Delicious! Pancakes are the best here! It melts in your mouth! If you have never try it! I definitely reccomend you do! They have other delicious food also.. The servers are fast & friendly! Oh before I forget they make their own delicious pies! & big nice donuts! check out the bakery also!
I went here to sample their famous patty melt. It's an item that they've had on their menu since 1932, so I had pretty high hopes. Side note, home-made ice cream makes for a delicious milk shake. I was actually blown away by their offering there. Add to that the Harris Ranch grain-fed all natural chuck, with hand-formed patties from beef ground on-premise daily, and you're looking at a pretty decadent lunch. This place is all about that old school mom and pop charm. I really dug the vibe. But, as far as the patty melt goes specifically, I'm not exactly impressed. Rye was very good, with that classic crunch, and not too firm or soft. Patty was closer to medium rare than the medium I ordered, and a bit bland. Not dry, but not quite juicy either. Overall, pretty solid, but not as memorable as I hoped. Looking forward to returning and trying out the rest of the menu.
Excellent place to have a casual meal. Breakfast is particularly well done. The pancakes and french toast are a must have. The Blue Plate Specials (through 11am) are an excellent choice. Easy parking and minimal wait times.
Excellent breakfast and service. Would come back anytime.
Nice dining area if you sit in the semi-wing back chairs near the firepit. Too expensive for a single omelet, a little hashbrowns, a muffin, 2 soft drinks, and a full stack of pancakes, $41.00 + tip!
american food and the scene at this spot is excellent. nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. the staff was very sociable and kind. this place has a great design. if it wasn't far from my work i would come by more.
Neat spot with a lot of history. I only had their lunch so cannot speak to the quality of their bakery. The burger I had was decent and the side of fruit was very fresh. Staff was friendly. It was all a little pricey though. You're kind of paying for the location.
One word sum up this visit PANCAKES! Nothing beats DuPars buttery fluffy pancakes. Best I ever had ANYWHERE. No fancy schmancy flavors just simple buttery flavor bombs in each bite. Be sure to get their fresh made orange juice as it is a must have.
Best place for a late night snack! Pancakes w the butter is the best in the world, in my humble opinion
The pancakes here are apparently famous, that was wat is written in the menu anyway. Womt say it is the best but pretty good
Tasty pancakes. I have been enjoying breakfast and there delicious pancakes for years now. If you find yourself at the Grove drop in for a bite
It is pricey. However, they have great pancakes.
Love this place. The customer service and food is awesome. My friends eat there every Sunday after church. Thank you Frances and staff for making us always feel special!!!
Coffee shop/family restaurant/deli food. Good and plentiful..great service.
Classic restaurant with many famous staples on the menu.
It's just over hyped. And over priced. I would rather go to Norms. To be honest
My wife and I have eaten at the restaurant in the past and received great service and delicious food. However, we stopped at the little bakery kiosk (separate from the restaurant) at the Farmer's Market on Sunday and picked up a mini peach pie. The young lady behind the counter acted as if we were a total inconvenience. She made eye contact, yet didn't ask if I wanting anything as I stood right at the counter. I asked if I could get one of the mini peach pies. "That's $9.00, " was her reply in a very short, curt tone. That aside, when I had a piece of the pie later that evening, I was not impressed. The best part about the pie was the crust. It had a nice creamy, yet flaky texture. I could tell it was made with real butter. However, the filing was bland and tasteless. The peaches were crunchy. I wasn't sure if I was eating apple, peach or even tofu, for that matter. I dumped the filing and ate the crust. $9.00 is an expensive pie crust. My 2-star rating is for this experience/visit only. I can't see myself recommending the pie or purchasing from the little kiosk, but the main restaurant and the breakfast menu are great.
This is a great diner for breakfast lunch and dinner. The best party is it is open 24/7. Food is great there are pancakes before your meal. The pancakes are pretty amazing. The omlettes are pretty salty and it is always busy here. But if you are not in a rush this is a great place to eat. Portions are big enough to share and grab a delicious slice of pie or cinnamon roll afterwards.
Supposedly these are America’s greatest pancakes at Du-Pars. Since 1938, they have churned out their Buttermilk Hot Cakes at this original location near the Farmer’s Market, so I had to have a bite. I ordered a Short-Stack of three Blueberry pancakes, dusted with a bit of powdered sugar and topped with syrup. Simple, delicious, and a bit of real California tradition. A bit pricey at $14, but hey, that’s the price you pay for famous.
Slow to get seated, slow to get food, as and food was just OK. I think they only had one cook.
Old school dinner with good diner food@
Best pancakes in the world. No kidding. On the pricy side for breakfast, but you get the best pancakes on the world. Go on a weekday if you can when specials are available.
Great for breakfast. Rapid service. Great staff.
Went there for nostalgia. Prices weren't but I loved it. The waitresses in their uniforms, the pics on the wall....
We had Laura as our server and she was absolutely amazing and really made the experience. She went above and beyond with customer service. I was hesitant about the salad dressing and she went and got me a sampleand was overall an amazing server. We are not from California but when we come back we will coming because of her amazing service! Definitely recommend!
Delicious cookies and sweets!
The food is very good & reasonably priced . Great service !
Dropped in for breakfast and always satisfied with them. Food was great. Always make it a point to drop in whenever I'm in town.
Favorite go to place for a quick tasty bite.open hours. Great pancakes a staple for any real local Los angeles native.
Love it! One of the few places you can get good, quality, FRESH & HOT food in LA 24hrs. No matter the day. I typically frequent the place when leaving Hollywood in the early morning hours after being out. Never overcrowded during those hours and the service is still good.
I used to buy 4 different pies for the Thanksgiving dinner from Dupars in Studio City. They probably make the best pies in the country. That store closed down right before Christmas in 2017 and didn't take any orders for that Thanksgiving. Therefore when I came across this store at Fairfax & 3rd in West Hollywood, I decided to go in. I hadn't had breakfast yet and therefore ordered a veggie omelet. That came with a toast or their own muffin. I chose the bran muffin. It was so juicy that I was happy that I tried. Service was good! Food was good! No restrooms inside! You have to go outside to the Farmer's Market for the restrooms.
Classic American diner with a range of breakfast and lunch options. It's open 24hrs which is handy. Service was efficient but felt like they were trying to rush you out to turn over more tables. I had the huevos rancheros which was a decent serving and pretty tasty. In this area it's probably one of the better sit down restaurants.
Don't let the look of the neighborhood or storefront appearance fool you. This place is legit. I had the Hangover Helper. Delicious. And much to my surprise, it's the first breakfast place I've been to in years that had decent coffee. Definitely on the "I Would Eat Here Again" (IWEHA) list.
Just an overpriced Denny's and the service is worse.... and dirty ... never again
One of my favorite places to eat. I love the "Trio" on the menu and their Strawberry Cream pie is one the best. Try also the stack of pancakes, they are very good. There is parking validation for 2 hrs. Try it you won't regret it!
Get the pancakes. Yes they are expensive, yes they are worth it!
The original pancake with maple syrup was good. The pancake quantity is generous. The bluberry and banana pancake tasted like a cake and not like a pancake. The staff member who took our order failed to provide any recommendations or description of the menu content. We ended up with blueberry and banana cooked within the pancake whilst we were assuming that the blueberry & banana will come raw on top of the pancake (menu neither has a description nor a picture to help customers know how the how the pancakes are cooked). The service was average with one unprofessional comment from one of the staff members. It is ok to visit once but not a place to return to.
Wonderful oh, Caesar who is the lead waiter over to pars is awesome
Excellent food n service
Very creepy place.. wouldn’t suggest it
Du-pars is hands down my favorite LA restaurant. Open for about 70 years I have so many great memories of taking the kids every Sunday. Steak and eggs and waiters in tuxedo shirts. Pancakes are great. A must do for anyone vacationing. After goto the farmers market.
You could tell they were short staffed today, how do I know, you may ask? because our waiter disappeared after taking our order....we later saw him cooking...not waiting tables
Great burgers :3 • blehtastic
Dennys is way better dinner if I had to compare it to another place
Du-pars is my favorite restaurant. They have the yummiest food here especially the French Toast. I really love this cozy place.
The services not so great, food it's ok the portion are big.
Everybody raves about the pancakes well I'm going to jump on the bandwagon two sausage two eggs on top short stack come get it
Great place for pie! Late night diner that is very friendly. Wait staff are welcoming, attentive and make you feel at home. Breakfast is delicious, their burgers are great. I haven't had their dinner entree plates. Save room for dessert! Bathroom is kinda inconvenient being that it's outside of the building and in the Grove, needing a key to open. It's a high people traffic area, parking can be challenge depending on the time.
The service is always great and the pancake are over the top good and the fresh pies so delicious
Best pancakes in Los Angeles, for my money, and I've had a fair few pancakes in this town. The Eggs Benedict are some of my favorites, too. Excellent service as well.
OMG this place is home I love it here definitely worth the try it's so delicious try the date bread
Best pancakes in town. Simple and delicious, fluffy and the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I always get a short stack for the table to share. Highly recommended!
Du-pars is a pillar of the Los Angeles experience. This place should be a UNESCO world heritage site.
This place has history. If you want pancakes buttered enough to make you feel it in your heart after completion, make sure to order the pancake stack. Great stuff! Weekend menu is definitely pricey as it will cost you around $26 for an short stack, bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns.
The food is always fantastic. I eat there whenever I'm in town.
Good but so dated Realy Needs to update the place / looks also old / & I'm older & saying this!
I've been eating at Du-Pars since I was in elementary school. Their food is always fresh and cooked with real ingredients - eggs basted in butter - warm syrup - and the hot fudge sundae is fabulous! Try the Mac n cheese with garlic bread! Too bad Ventura Bl. location closed after 70 years.
Overpriced for decent but not great food, it cost me $115 (tip included) breakfast for 4 ppl. I had the chicken fry with cream gravy, the chicken was perfectly fried and gravy was good they both could use a little more salt. My daughter in law had the corned beef hash, nothing great it tasted like something out of a can. Son had chopped beef (hamburger patty). My husband had the French toast with blueberry compote that was great. Next time I will skip eating here and head over to the food court at the Farmers Market, eat there and go to Du Par's for their pies. You can ask for a muffin instead of toast no extra charge.
Yum!!!! Been coming here for years, the staff is always nice, there’s great service and it’s very clean!! The pancakes are #1 in the world, I also like the Waldorf salad and chicken pot pie!!! You won’t be disappointed!
Pancakes. Do it. The best ever.
I was disappointed in the matzo ball soup. It was very bland and I didn't taste the schmaltz. I've been going there fot years
We've been to du-par's a few times, we first saw it on an episode of Bosch.the food is good in the pancakes are really good. Pancakes are actually better than most places then make him a little crispy on the outside. after reading you get to walk around the farmers market actually see famous people hanging out there.
Great service. Meals are awesome with fantastic coffee
I wish that every day my tongue was forcefully taken out of my mouth and replaced with a new tongue with fresh taste buds so that I could taste their delicious pancakes at full deliciousness. The pain would be worth it.
Classic diner in LA that used to have more locations. They have the best French toast in LA for me. Very Eggy and tasty. They used to have AMAZING sausage patties but then they changed and then removed them. That’s the reason for the 4 vs 5.
Very yummy breakfast. Great service! Love it!
Get the short stack and thank me later!
Bakery items of chocolate cake very dry. Cookie was good but could have been a little sweeter. The sales clerk was friendly and helpful.
Had brunch with my cousin and her husband. Ate here at their recommendation. Good food but they were slow that day. I'm told that's not normal. Try it.
My favorite thing about this place is the discrete time portal at the door. As soon as you walk in your in a different time which is nice. My usual orders are either chicken soup or a chicken pot pie which are ohhh so good. This place is open 24/7 but if your their during the day you can also enjoy a walk through the historical farmers market.
Food was good, few issues with service. Overall and ok experience but expected better, especially for a birthday celebration.
Went there as a kid all the time. Very special place and good food. .
The move here is the pancakes. End of story. If you see a negative review, it's because they made poor ordering choices. Pancakes with maple syrup is the way to go. If you order something else and hate it, it's your own fault.
Good food, great selection, good place to come for a late night meal
Du-Pars offers the best pancakes I've eaten across this great land of ours. I'm not a big fan of syrup, in general, as I don't like super sweet breakfasts. Du-Pars serves their pancakes with a side of melted butter. And, yes, it's *that* good. Wish I lived closer.
Really good hearty clam chowder fantastic server (Pedro). All the food tasted fresh, homemade and the perfect amount of seasoning
Good food, prices a bit high, and the service seemed to attempt to be a bit tonier than I'd expect from a 'diner.' The pancakes are quite good, but didn't strike me as being as astonishingly good as some seem to suggest.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was great
Pancakes are always excellent
This is THE only place for fresh buttermilk pancakes. The best! Too bad the one in Studio City is out of business. No matter what the wait it is worth it. Go on the off hours.
I love this place! My favorite is the beer sausage with spicy chilli. If I come within a one mile radius of this place around lunch time, I can't resist. Check it out.
Two words... FRENCH TOAST!!! Let me just say I'm from the South and we are big on flavor here. I am also a huge French toast lover and I'm very selective how its prepared. This French Toast is definitely in my top three favorites of all time. It was so good that I thought about returning the next day for more. The portions were amazing. I couldn't even finish it all although I definitely gave it a good try. I also had hash browns and sausage which were delicious as well. Give it a try. If you love French Toast you will not be disappointed. And the prices were extremely reasonable as well. I normally take pictures of all my food but this was so good I devoured it before I thought about taking a picture. When I return Los Angeles, it will absolutely be on my list of places to repeat. Two thumbs up for sure!
Hands Down, the BEST, freshly baked pies in all of Los Angeles! Walter, our server was delightful and very attentive. We will definitely return again and again. Highly recommended! a Perfect 10!
Food had absolutely no seasoning. Fries were good so giving two stars instead of one. Don't waste your money
Too expensive, I know this place is iconic for their pancakes but c'mon, with those prices you cannot even make the place look clean? Delicious food though, only positive note
Truly a treat!! 24 hours! Omg.
The server take forever to take my order the service was wack Arturo was my server he should be a dishwasher instead of server he doesn’t know anything about customer service
I love this place so much! Service is amazing and food is so good and consistent! And they have REALLY orange juice a total win for me
The food was average and the servers ignored my daughter and I. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Now these are some good waffles. Nice servers. Small spot but comfortable. I would definitely go back.
Services was slow and the food wasn't worth ah cow hide! PeriodT Pooh...
Good food nice service
Everything is delicious here. Love this place.
Consistent old school Coffee Shop with American style cooking
Always great for breakfast.
I only had pie. My server didn't make me feel welcome and he was very stark and seemed like he only wanted to get through our order as quick as possible with no emotion.
Best diner ever. Fresh squeezed orange juice.
Juat love there sweet Rolls and all there pie's and Muffins mmmmmm good
Great place to meet at the iconic Farmers Market. Food is good, basic fare. Service was excellent. Plan around dessert. PIE
My waiter, Irving, was one of the kindest, most accommodating people I have ever met. The food was excellent, the wait was short, and the staff was fantastic! Great place!
You can't never go wrong with the pancakes
High price, slow service, good food
If you go to Du-Pars, you are there to rub elbows with fellow foodies, Los Angeles locals, and to enjoy the experience. Be prepared. There.is no cashier, no hostess and it might take a few minutes to understand the culture of the Farmers Market location. I am not sure if Pasadena is run the same way. There is a line out the door, but you get seated quickly 'inside or outdoors"?, your party MUST be all there or don't get in line. Next, when the server comes to the table, be ready to order everything, drinks and food right away. If it's your first time, peruse the menu in advance. Go for pancakes at least once, but prepare to share your pre-buttered stack, they are big! Also, don't feel bad if you have.to remind your server about drink refills or bringing the toast, I saw that a lot during my visit. Once you understand the culture, please enjoy the delicious meal and ambience and tell a friend you were there. It can be intimidating the first time but I am ready for seconds!
The pancakes here are probably the best I've tried. I had the chicken fried steak (chicken), very good. We sat in the patio which was nice. The customer service is prompt and courteous. The restaurant is a bit outdated and could use some maintenance inside but overall I would recommend.
Country Chicken Breakfast was delicious. Enough food for two!
I have wanted to visit since reading Harry Bosch Not disappointed Chicken pot pie simply outstanding Highly recommended
Breakfast all day! Need I say more?
Pricey, but in line with the area. The best sit down restaurant in the area. An old standard for many years.
Great food, tried the eggs Benedict and the cinnamon roll. For the price point , I wouldn’t say I got what i paid for. But still solid.
Good .. food.. just what you ordered.. service good.. Pie Great..
Old time feel where you get exceptional old time service!
The food is good and the staff friendly. There is nothing out of the ordinary about the restaurant. It's just vintage by age!
Breakfast at Du-Pars never fails. Everything thing I ate was oh so delicious. French Toast, sausage, eggs and don't forget the coffee. I'll give my waiter Walter ten stars for the service as well.
Today was just a bad day. Not just for us but for many many folks around us. But that is ok, they are like family. They get to have bad days. We will be back. I just wanted this out there incase the others who threw fits decided to beat them down. It was less than expected but I know they will be better.
Good food and a nice place to hang out
Avoid at all costs. I had the most repulsive experience at this restaurant. The service was terrible, the food didn't come out correctly, and they even butchered us when we tried to pay. Please save your money and eat at home or even McDonald's. If you see this place keep driving.
These are without a doubt the best pancakes in Los Angeles............Sheesh these are the Best pancakes in the United States
Best pancakes hard to compete with!
This place never fails. It’s been around for a long time and they have perfected everything.
This place has amazing food. They deserve the 5 stars
Friendly Service but small portions for the amount of food you get. The food is equivalent to Marie Calendar's. Worth checking out for the pies for the out of townies.
Great stop for 24 hour eats in the neighborhood. Du-Par’s is a local LA chain, but this Farmer’s Market location was the first, founded in 1938. It’s great anytime, but especially on Sunday morning for pancakes or an omelet. The steel-cut oatmeal, though, is my favorite. The staff is speedy and friendly and the prices affordable. Beware the busy hours on weekend mornings, but ultimately it’s well worth the wait.
Food is always good here, especially if you're looking for some good diner food. Servers are always really nice.
Unbelievably tasty pancakes. It was very busy (Saturday morning), but they handled it like champs and got us a booth in record time.
Good old fashioned food
The best pancakes in LA.
Good service and its one of my favorite late night diners in L.A.
A favorite spot for tasty american food. Food was so fresh. The place has a great atmosphere.
Great service great hot cakes
Classic diner at the corner of the Farmer's Market complex. It's been there forever, and hopefully always will be. An historic and classic throwback to an earlier era.
PLEASE DONT GO HERE. Over priced. Nothing special. Bad food, Bad service. I got the tri-tip and it was somehow both smothered in sauce and flavorless. The vegetables were salty and the mashed potatos we're insanely watery. Like someone put too much water in boxed potatos. My boyfriend got mac and cheese I tried it. It was like someone cooked pasta, poured some milk and then just tossed on some grated cheddar cheese. It seemex evident to me that whoever had made this had no concept of how and when to mix ingredients. Also. 5 DOLLAR TEA. And its not like fancy in house brewed tea, its just boiled water and farmer bros packets.
Cannot believe I'm just learning of this place! 24/7... And the pie is unreal! This place is incredible. Exactly what you want from a late night 24/7 la diner. It's phenomenal! Forgetabboudit! Seriously. I'm so excited about this place..... And try the pie. Seriously. Try the pie!
Good old diner, the food we had was very average but nothing wrong, service was chearful if a little slow.
This restaurant has been around almost as long as the Farmers market has. It's been a benchmark of the market. At one time it was one of the only sit down places there. It's very traditional. They have spectacular pies. A very large menu where everyone can find something to eat. It is like going to a more upscale diner. The food is plentiful and adequate. I had the eggs benedict with spinach. The eggs were cooked perfectly the Hollandaise sauce was just so-so. My dining companions both had the fish and chips and said they were perfect. while the wait staff was very pleasant service is typically on the slow side. But if you're enjoying your dining companions that's really not a big issue in my book. Ample parking be sure to get your ticket validated.
While the food is good here, the service is incredibly poor. The restaurant was not even half seated and not very busy and yet it took 7 minutes to seat us. We knew what we wanted to order a minute after sitting down, however the server kept walking by our table without stopping. When he finally did he asked us what we would like to drink and when we told him we were ready to also order our food he replied “As I said we’re busy at the moment.” Never did he mention to us that they were busy, so I don’t know what he was talking about. As I mentioned the restaurant was not even half full of seating customers. At any other restaurant they would have taken our order immediately without “reminding “ us that the place was busy. Du Par’s has history and a reputation for great pancakes, but I don’t feel that this means they should be allowed to get away with slow, poorly mannered service. I won’t be frequenting this restaurant any longer.
They have really great food, always have! This is my favorite place for comfort food.
Always good food and good service. Not fancy...just a great spot to meet. My girlfriend and I go there at least once a month for lunch.
I love Du-Pars restaurant. I mostly go there for the blue plate special which is two large buttermilk pancakes, scrambled egg and bacon. The best pancakes on the planet. Great outdoor seating as well. One episode of one my favorite TV shows (Bosch) was filled here.
I love this place. I’m sad the one up in Encino closed as that was so close to where I live. Went to the place on back to back days and the service was slow and horrendous. I don’t remember being this bad all the previous times I’ve went. My recent experience was not very good, but the saving grace (and the reason I still gave it 3 stars) is that, for regular pancakes, this place hands down serves the best. It’s not even up for debate. So good.
Great food! Love coming here when in town.
We go here every once in a while. Breakfast is really good! & the pies!! Love it!
Love the food selections, Vast... I always leave with an amazing tasting mustard or cheese? Foodies delight!
Breakfast was okay and the service as well. Dont get me wrong, the waitress we had was very polite and nice but for whatever reason everything seemed to come to your table super slow and delayed. We received our breakfast and about 15 minutes later our toast by that time I was already almost done with breakfast and/or already cold to eat with my toast and let's not try to get more coffee because that took another 15 -20 minutes to come around. Wouldn't go back, one time thing only cause I was in that area and family wanted breakfast.
3 things i enjoy, the chicken noodle soup (hit or miss), the chicken pot pie to share with someone, and the burgers are good.
While waiting for the rest of my party we ordered a stack of pancakes and they were very good when the rest of our party showed up the waiter never came back to take the order we waited a half hour to order finally went to a different waiter to get a checked so we could leave update one month later. We decided to give it one more chance service was even worse this time even called the corporate office to complain was told someone we get back to me the next day and that never happened who's ever in charges has really dropped the ball
Enjoyed lunch here. Service is good. Food diner-like. Air conditioning is a good selling point. Pie was the best part of the meal!
Food was great and the service was as well. Alec was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
Du-Pars has a well earned reputation for food that tastes good and is fresh. Their servings are substantial. The dessert pies and pastries are also well made and taste good!
Great pancakes, they are very large and the short stack can def fredntwo people.
The food is the bomb speaking of Du-pars I'm ready to go back
Food is average, service was superb as were the booths they seat you in. Worth going too simply for the pie, which was the best I've ever eaten in my life. Delicious!
Wonderful place to have breakfast. Very popular and food was very good.
The pot pie here is really the thing to get. They also have a walk up dessert stand in the back.
Great food and service.
