First time buying a cake from here and as the reviews can attest to, it'll be my go to place for cakes. My co-worker and I purchased two cakes for our teammates who happened to have b birthdays in the same week and we ended up getting a Tres Leches cake, and a Chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Both were some of the best cakes we've ever had. I can't recommend this place enough.

If I'm feeling reminiscent of vacations to Italy or of Little Italy in NYC I go here. Be warned though that what you're getting is Italian-American - it's lower sugar and higher flour content than pastries at other locations. You're not going to find the high butterfat creations of French cuisine here. Come here for cakes and cookies that are pleasant reminders of childhood.

Dianda’s is an awesome Italian bakery and serves the best cakes. Well, I’ve only ever tried the tiramisu and their napoleons. So delicious. The napoleon especially, known in Spanish as “mil hojas” (thousand sheets) is amazing. We always get a huge napoleon cake from their San Mateo location. Come here for a sweet ending to a delicious night out in the mission. P.S. My phone almost corrected “mil hojas” to “mil gonads”! That paints a different picture.

A favorite in my family on it's second generation, I love this place. Like most other bakeries, Dianda's has their strengths and weaknesses. Dianda's strengths are their cakes and desserts - which are out of this world amazing! The St. Honore is a notable special occasion cake. Cake by the slice, canoli, mille feuille, petit fours, almond tart, and cookies are also delicious. I would pass on their breakfast pastries, though. I definitely recommend stopping in and trying something, especially if it's cake!

Every other month or so, I drive to Dianda's from Folsom (109 miles, according to Google Maps) and stock up. I rarely spend less than $150. I buy enough to give to friends, and some for me to freeze. I know it may not be *as* good as eating it fresh, but this is still the best Italian bakery I've been to (and my family's been going to a certain excellent SSF bakery since the 1920's). I highly recommend the St Honore, the Almond Horns, the ...well, just everything on the menu. Speaking of which, I'll be down there next Monday to make a Dianda's & Lucca run. =)

Shops that stand out tend to have at least one item that in itself makes itself a destination. I am happy to say that Dianda's very much qualifies as a destination and not just as another bakery. In the case of Dianda's the item would be the St. Honoré Cake named for the French patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs, so okay this is actually a french not an Italians speciality item but not splitting hairs since that this is coming from an Italian bakery given oh so how good this cake is. What is a St. Honoré Cake you ask ? Well it is a double ring of choux puffs (about 3 dozen plus puffs) filled with pastry cream and attached to each other with caramel and with a center filled with a Chiboust cream which is a pastry cream lightened with a meringue. This is very rich desert that stands out and and a single cake can provide many satisfying servings to a large group (Toro E. has attached a photo of the cake). Because the St. Honoré Cakes sell so well I suggested you reserve one. If you do this as a spur of the moment purchase you may need a backup plan or buy one of the frozen cakes which will require some thawing. Strongly suggest trying this bake shop.

My first experience (there have been several more since) with Dianda's was somewhat mixed. A coworker had brought in two large boxes with a selection of most of their cakes, and I, in my greed, decided it was wise to attempt to try every single one of them. Sugar, cream, and carb overload ensued twenty minutes later for this clever lactose-intolerant Asian. Highlights? Definitely their chocolate strawberry cake and their tiramisu, both of which were pretty fantastic. Their banana cake? Not bad, if you're into bananas, but I certainly prefer mine in pie form. Their rum puff cake, alas, was a little disappointing. Texture wise, their cakes are all of the sponge variety: so, nice and fluffy. Prices are also quite reasonable, given the portion sizes! A solid 3.5 stars. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - Your typical bakery with display cases all around. Theirs are of the shorter variety, so one can easily see the top shelf, as they're roughly eye level, even while sitting. When they're busy, it does get a little cramped, but for the most part, maneuverability isn't an issue. Bathroom - Pretty sure I didn't see any open to the public.

Our Italian neighbor introduced us to the Napolean cakes at Dianda's and we have been hooked ever since! Dianda's is a great little old school Italian bakery serving up an array of colorful cakes, cookies, cannolis and plenty of other sweets and treats. Definitely try out the Almond Torte and the Napolean - the layers of puff pastry is always flaky and delicious every time. They are pretty popular items so be sure to call ahead and reserve a slice or two since they sell out quick! Dianda's has become one of our favorite go-to bakeries!
