Great place to brunch with friends. The staff are very kind, respectful, helpful, and courteous. The ambience is hip-modern and young, and in the best location! The food is excellent. There are a few misses, but overall pretty good. I'd definitely encourage you to visit at least once! And oh yeah, they serve THE best latte I've ever had. I hear that there dranks are good too.

Food: 3/5 Value: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: 3/5 Came here for brunch and tried their avocado toast and their salmon breakfast stack. The avocado toast was not really worth how much it cost as the portion of avocado was small, but it was unique in that they had it topped with honey and grapefruit. Don't think I am a fan but was worth trying. The salmon stack was good as it was potato pancakes (tastes like a flat hash brown) topped with egg and salmon. The crispiness of the hash brown added texture to the dish but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this place is great for the ambiance and makes a cute date spot but don't think I'll come back as there are so many brunch spots I still want to try in LA

Great sandwich restaurant for the whole family

I was extremely excited to try this place. the location itself is gorgeous but the food is just okay

Mario Obejas

Shhhh. Don't tell too many other people about this nice restaurant with the good eats and the Al Fresco dining. On a serious note: please park on the street or in a neighborhood and walk over. Leave the extremely limited parking in the back for someone who really needs it, like elderly or disabled.

Michele Skinner

A favorite place for quality cafe food. i've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back.

Roseanne P

Both atmosphere and food are great. Nice to enjoy your cool evening under giant trees after hot LA day. Feels like home with benefit of yummy food

Awab Helal

Service is fast with lively atmosphere ... Food taste was ok :p not great !!

Came here for a bridal party brunch and it was cool. I'll start with a few things I was really upset about, but please be mindful, this was just my experience and I know others have experienced possibly better. My coffee mug had a red lipstick stain on it to begin. The tables were damaged (well at least ours) which made it uncomfortable to rest our hands. I found a small hair in my turkey panini as well. I understand sometimes mistakes happen and I don't mean to hate on the location...I definitely come back for another time (hopefully better experience). But the hosts were great and the food was average as well. They are extremely busy however so if your going with a big group of people, they do except reservation.

Great place the meet up with friends. The atmosphere is laid back and so inviting to reconnect with friends. Food selection is decent, everyone can find something to fill them up.

This is one of my favorite bakerys in LA. Definitely solid when you're looking for breakfast/brunch entrees or pastries. The coffee is great, I had a Latte with oatmilk today.

I wish I could give 5 stars. I liked this place for several years, but not anymore. I hung out here for 2 hours.( I even gave them 20% tips) Any waiter/waitress never showed up and asked me anything I needed.

Robin Horak

Great outdoor and indoor space. Excellent happy hour. Nice food options.

Jason Akrami

Great coffee. Friendly staff. Cozy outdoor area to hang out with friends. Wonderful interior. Great pastries.

Randy Reid

Fantastic food and service! A++++

I absolutely love this place. Been eating here for years. I suggest, while it still exists, to order the turkey hummus melt off of the old menu. I highly suggest it off of pumpernickel bread :-) sitting on the patio is beautiful either in the front or on the sides of the building. Don't forget to look in the bathroom of the men's room of the old troop photos. Then, set inside next to the wall at the two top checkered table and open the drawers revealing wishes dreams and hopes. Did I mention the bread pudding and homemade whipped cream?

GET THE CHEESECAKE. Do yourself the favor and get it. So delicious. Croissants were good and so were the teas. But the cheesecake. OMG. I went on a Saturday night so it wasn't as busy as brunch time. My group picked a table in the back and enjoyed the space all to ourselves.

I came here for a private event that utilized their cottage in the back of the restaurant. As I walked through the restaurant, I was reminded of Urth Caffe. Valet parking here is $7.50. (Why the $0.50 though?) There are some metered spots around the area. They were so crowded on a Saturday morning. I was let down by the food. I had higher expectations because they had over 4,000 Yelp reviews. The breakfast burrito was full of black beans. The cheese was not spread evenly and ended up clumped all at one end of the burrito. It was pressed like a panini. The French toast was just average despite the berry compote. The eggs Benedict tasted sour. I've never had hollandaise sauce taste sour. The only good thing was the potatoes that came with the American panino. We had mimosas that separated after 5 minutes of not drinking it. The orange juice sunk to the bottom and the champagne on top of the champagne glass. The cottage was tiny and barely fit our party of less than 20 guests. We sat around a long table. People could hardly walk past each side without asking someone to scoot their chair in more. They had a small tv that served as a screen to show videos and PowerPoints. The restroom in the back was also tiny. I'm pretty sure the waiting area for our servers was a closet. I felt so bad for them.

Very good food excellent service pets friendly

Amazing Birthday Dinner! The food was amazing!! My pork chop was fantastic and the Latkas were the best I’ve ever had!! Was never ONCE interrupted or bothered by anyone! Was accommodated for our 9 person party!! Perfect food. Amazing desert!! Couldn’t recommend it more!! Was told by my sister that the 2 hour car trip was more than worth it! I will most definitely be back.

nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. i will be back with my coworkers. the bill was fair for the quality of food.

Found another great spot in Los Feliz! I'd heard if Alcove for a while and finally got a chance to try it out first hand this past weekend for brunch. To begin with, this is one of the most charming restaurants I have been to in LA. It looks like a house that has been converted to a restaurant. Because of that homey feeling that it has, I was automatically comfortable there. The staff was incredibly helpful and, although the place was packed on a Saturday afternoon, I never felt rushed to make a quick decision. The options are plentiful with both lunch and breakfast offerings. The best part is the coffee bar and the baked goods that are absolutely amazing. If you plan on getting dessert and coffee after your meal, order the dessert before and then tell them to warm it up after you finish. You can also bypass the line if you are just getting coffee after your meal. Just head right to the left cash register and they will be happy to help you. The food is just as great as the service. If you are a breakfast fan, I recommend trying the chiliquilles with carnitas. It was delicious and filling as well

Movesaround bizzartist

Busy at night & on weekends! Bathrooms are not easily accessible for wheelchairs. Bustling, cozy, good service. Don't forget to tip! The guy working said he went here when it opens and still lives here!

Joe Marcy

Good coffee, great patio, service pretty quick. Wonderful looking pastries and cakes. Apricot tart could’ve used some more Crisp on the pastry, but it was v fresh

Dhrubo

Devon and the other guy with the black hair are the best! Really made my night by being cool

Great service friendly environment classy very nice

Alex Haro

Good food, nice ambience Enjoyed the Cobb salad with tea

Suzanne Milano

I went there for a baby shower, so I was with a group in the back Cottage. The service was great. The food was good. I would definitely go back just to grab coffee if I was in the area and on foot. My only issue is that the valet is cash only, and street parking is limited. So if you are without cash, it's a bit of an issue to find parking.

Roger Murphy

This restaurant has long history at Somora Avenue, and moved to Haidery Plaza a few years ago. I think Indian food at this restaurant is best in Dar es Salaam. Though it is a little expensive compare to other Indian restaurants in city centre, they serve food with value for money. But please don’t expect Chinese food, these are average. They don’t need to serve the Chinese food there. Now there are many good Chinese restaurants in city centre. There is a blanch at Sea Cliff Hotel in Msasani Peninsula, and reviews are mixed.

FRANKLIN JOYA

Great food and a wonderful time having breakfast with my family.

durrell randle

Alcove is I would say an OK restaurant the food is decent and the people that work there are very nice so I definitely like the customer service the only part of the experience that was a let down is there is a very long line to get in and another good chunk of a wait before you get your food you will probably finish the coffee your ordered before the food comes out and unfortunately I they had gotten my order wrong even though the lady that took my order (very nice Service by her btw) had repeated the order back for accuracy it still came out with the wrong thing which after waiting quite a bit I just ate it instead of sending it back also they have valet parking (wayyyyy to overpriced) and street parking is ... I'd say pretty difficult there so keep an eye out maybe their lunches are better but for breakfast the experience is well just fine

Guillermo Modini

I love the table cheese selection and desserts

Matthew Bradley

Cool joint, good food and always packed

Pamela Johnson

I have been wanting to try this place in, like forever. It crowded, but we found a table. It's valet parking, ('cause you are never gonna find street parking). I a vegetarian and went for the black bean breakfast burrito. It was tasty. A tad, bit pricey, it was good.

Yvonne Fleury

This place is amazing. The amount of different desserts they have each day is deliciously mind-boggling. The meals are very good too, as is their coffee. Lovely setting too. I have always been able to find street parking nearby.

Kimberley Fenton

We stumbled on this place after a visit to Griffith Observatory and couldn't believe our luck. We were immediately impressed by the lovely, shady outdoor patio. We were then greeted like old friends by the staff - so very welcoming. We ordered our lunches and they arrived in just a few minutes. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions are HUGE. What a great find!

Chris Plante

This place is awesome. We had the Buffalo chicken wraps and the house salad. The wraps were packed with insane taste. And we had the chocolate cake. Wow. And the atmosphere was super chill, and, and, and... You just gotta go there.

Dallin Larsen

Just how adorable can this place be! Fell in love with the esthetics first. So charming. Looks like an old Hollywood home turn cozy cafe. Eclectic furnishing. Paintings and a ton of antiques. And the food is simple but delicious and comforting. Desserts are a must. Will be back for more. So beautiful stop by for a breakfast burrito yum. I had a Latka with lox of course!

Marilyn Rober

We got Spicy Mexican Mocha and Bitter Sweet Mocha, both are very special and recommended. Food was decent for the price that we paid. Owner was very helpful and friendly. It feels like a local coffee place in the community. Would definitely come back again for a quick coffee stop.

Ariana

Large portions of food, pretty scenery and yummy lemonade.

rickychacha

The BEST DESSERT HOUSE in the country!! It’s always busy, most guests are friendly and know the “Drill”!!! Coffee is beyond exceptional and EVERY baked good is a slice of divine love and passion put into the delectable creations! I never leave without less than four slices and a hot or cold huge coffee!!! I must say there is no negativity here! How could there be? Baked Goids, excellent food and a BAR!!! The secret garden in the middle of Hollywood!! Been inhaling cakes here for over a decade. Had a private party here and celebrated many brunches!!! Must go to if you have a dessert monster in your circle of people! Parking is a little tough. Be well prepared for Valley, CASH, it’s easiest. The staff is great, may come off as short, they deal with hundreds of varieties of guests. I think they are all marvelous. Female bartender is the BOMB!!! Cute little tiny bar with the most delicious specialty cocktails! Alcove rocks my world!!!

James Dorsett

Great food, but get there early to beat the crowd.

Conklin Ralillyra

We discovered this spot while staying nearby at an Airbnb - we were smitten at first bite and returned every day. My husband says it's the best vanilla latte he ever had! I ordered an amazing poached egg dish that would have cost double 5 miles down the road. The staff were all friendly and it felt like a real neighborhood joint.

K J

One of my fave place in LA

Nils Nehrenheim

Great food

Scott Cormier

A great to eat before you go hike the Hollywood Hills. Plenty of choices from breakfast to lunch and some delicious pastries and smoothies!

Jaime Callica

Was good. Had the salmon locks with bagel and at $17, I was hopeful it would have a decent amount of salmon..... And it did, thankfully! Staff were friendly particularly this one sweet lady that spent way too much time with me going over all of the cakes and cookies... Bless her heart! Seeing "Breaking Bad"s Aaron Paul was a plus!

Desiree Fae

One of the best cakes I have ever had in my life it was lemon cake with real whipped cream frosting and giant fresh firm blueberries best cake I've ever had in my life AND best Cuban sandwich I've ever had in my life so much meat and it was so big that I had to bring half of it home and YES it was still good the next day this place is delicious eat here soon soon soon

Sarah

Lovely service, decent food, great atmosphere

A true hidden gem aroound Los Feliz area. Fantastic breakfast.

Excellent cocktail! Tasty food! Very nice staff! I recommend

Emilio Calcioli

Cute place, they have put some thought into it with a real feeling of a little alcove surrounding by greenery. The food was nice, albeit unspectacular. Prices were ...fine .. it's LA so by LA standards it was fair. Fresh juices are lovely and the poached eggs with salmon and potato pancake was perfectly pleasant. The fruit salad was a tad lacking. Not mind blowing but a nice breakfast spot in Los Feliz. Would recommend.

Ashley Diaz

Food was so appetizing. The service was friendly and observant. Prices that are reasonable.

ObscuroStudios

My fave. I love Alcove. Having spent years of my life eating their Cubano sandwich, I can attest to the consistent quality despite shifts in management and staff. Come here for the food, it's excellent. Their house salad is actually really good, but so are the fries. I could talk about the food, but it's good, just trust me. The staff are great. Friendlier than your average Los Felician, I feel like I'm home when I'm here. Maybe that's due to the eclectic blend of home furniture, padded wooden antiques situated around cute tables. I'm not going to mention the table with creepy notes. Don't even ask. Yeah it seems like a grand idea, but they really need to get an editor in there. My favorite place to sit are the two converted seats made from doors in the outside corner, complete with door handles still in the armrests. One could idle away the hours, conversing with the flowers, staring at the splashing birds. Yes, there is a bird bath. I mean, I can go on. It's really the hidden touches that give this place the extra staying power. The antique cash registers filled with chocolates for sale. Crystal ware lining the ceiling. Oh, yeah. The coffee is good and strong and they also sell it by the bag. Enjoy.

Ori. V

Fun place, good food.

Jeanette B. Salvador

Food is great. Everything on the menu is put together well. The parking situation is not that great but if you're lucky, you can park curbside along Franklin. We went around 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday. We were lucky to find a spot. But overall the food and the ambience was nice. Patio seating is nice. I loved the display cases of cake, pies, cookies and other things as well as the decor. Well worth the agony in finding parking. If you like this review, please click the Like button. Thank you!

A sequential and orderly customer experience lends greatly to the entire experience of dining out. Don't expect that here. You walk into a general melee of adults milling around the glassed cake display and shuffling along, like in a breadline, to order at an impossibly tight counter. Yet others are milling around waiting for their plated food to be passed in, over, and through the outstretched customer hands exchanging money while paying the server. In all there's a sloppy sense of customer service in which a lot of individuals yelling, hemming and hawing, and deciding out loud what to order while coordinating large parties is going on...simultaneous to servers jostling in the tight quarters behind the counter passing order bills, bringing in plated food and drinks. It feels as thoughtless as its chaotic disorganization. I thought I'd see an accident happen and of course, yes, there was a mis-order which the folks hurriedly tried to rectify. I didn't come here looking for a headache, I came here to have a lovely evening. You might peruse a paper menu to discover that *none of the cakes* are listed on it. The server has the names of the cakes *in her mind* and will yell them out while you try to catch the names over the general din. When you finally place your order, it's passed off to a second set of hands, which you pray will get your order right. While I feel that the patio is indeed charming, and the heat lamps are a necessary touch, why would I want to go back to be shuffled around like an animal in a badly managed pen. It felt claustrophobic and shouty. All the wrong vibes. But then, maybe it's my lack of hipsterish affectation that I just like some calm when I go to eat out, and perhaps that helps my digestion too. The white chocolate fudge iced four-layer chocolate cake was incredibly voluminous and decadent and should be at nearly $10 a slice.

Melany Santizo

Food is ok, not much going on and the dessert were too sweet.. Big portions for the price.

Dani Miller

Looking at +/-$20 per person. Great food and well worth the money. Won't be disappointed by any means. Beautiful interior and exterior with fast and friendly service. Definitely worth checking out!

Lottie Booth

Yummy pies. It was so hard to choose one. I ended up getting the walnut pie, which is just like a pecan pie but made with walnuts. And then I got the house syrup on the side for 50 cents. The pie was a little dry but I guess that's what the syrup is for. I liked the whole experience overall. The place is cute and packed. Felt like a college coffee shop.

Abby Armstrong

Absolutely delicious brunch with a fun atmosphere. A busy place but we didn't have to wait to long to get a table. I want to go back and try some of the pastries, they looked amazing!

Katie

Go to brunch spot with fantastic lattes. The ricotta pancakes are a brunch must. There are a number of delicious drink options. Definitely a favorite stop of mine.

Krys DS

The food is excellent and the ambiance matches the fare. Hard to find seating and dangerous to balance your hot drink while navigating the sea of oblivious hipsters, standing around, not giving any f*cks whether they're impeding the flow of traffic or not. And, yet... despite my complaint, I'm still rating it a 5. The food is that good. Just come at a less busy time for full enjoyment.

Cassie Nicholson

The staff was very sociable and kind. Bring your hunger - portions are filling. Ambience reminds me of Colorado Springs area.

lea carla ocampo

Very unique. If you like to chill and you are looking for a quiet or peaceful place to stay, this one is excellent. Plus their desserts are great.

marvin contreras

Great place, but it gets insanely busy on weekends and no parking. They do Valet

D&D Explorers

Great place to go for breakfast. Did you know the open at 6am? Friendly service, delicious food, good coffee (Ask for a refill) the place is cozy and lovely, just that after 11am it can get pretty full, popular place! Street parking although they offer valet parking too. If you have space for a slice of cake even though it is $$$ it is a big slice and totally delicious. Family friendly. They even have a full bar.

Lauren Hill

Was in the area and saw this adorable cafe. Inside has great decor pieces, kind of going for garden/farm home type feel. There are full menus available as soon as you walk into the cafe. A few chalkboards displaying bar drinks/beverages & the day's specials. They have a full bar in an a-joined room, bakery goods that looks great, an old converted food cart turned coffee stand bar for beverage needs: sugar, honey, substitutes, coffee stick stirs, etc. Paper Straws only. It is wonderful for the environment, but even their think paper straws started losing structure within 10 mins. I only drank ice tea. Oh well. We are outside and it was just dreamy. ......besides the traffic, car smog, street sweeping, road work, and honking going on right next to us on the street. I ordered a Tuna Melt w/ Alcove house salad. The best tuna melt I've tried so far in life! House salad came w/ a creamy balsamic dressing, walnuts, carrots, tomatoes, and leafy greens. Very good for just a basic house salad! Breakfast/Brunch serves till 5pm Lunch/Dinner serves til 10pm. Will definitely be back & bringing friends.

Francina Ulery

Had such a good time here celebrating bff's birthday after a hike at the Griffith! Parking-A They have valet parking but street parking is certainly available, if you don't mind walking around a bit : ) Service-A Called to check on the wait time before we came by and they were super helpful on the phone. Once we got there, the front gave us menus and directed us to the counter to order (order first and come back to the front to get seated. It's kind of like urth cafe). The line wasn't too crazy on a sunny Sunday and in fact, It was almost a treat to be in line as we got to look at the different yummy cakes lol. Counter staff was super nice and friendly as well. Got seated really quickly and best of all, they not only provided candles for cake, but also matches!! Adorable and comfortable outdoor seatings were totally making our afternoon as well. We did have a wrong order delivered to our table but as we notified them, they quickly corrected the mistake. Everything else was perfect and food came out really fast with great service. Food-A I must also say that everything was delicious here. We had the cheese plate for two, mimosas (Orange & grapefruit) and sangria, salmon omelette, and crab Benedict. Descent portion and we were incredibly full having shared two entries between three girls. Ps. Must try their cake!!!

Allan Raymundo

This place has indoor and outdoor seating. They got a great food menu and specialty drinks. Good selection of sweets and coffee. Breakfast on Sundays is a must. Great atmosphere to hang out and socialize.

Though over the years i have lived in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles several times: now it is not often i drive the few miles south from Glendale to check out the scene in LF. But today was a special day as a good friend who i have known all my life was in town for business and who had heard about this place and wanted to check it out. So we did. Years ago the building in which the Alcove now occupies was a private residence with a large outside front yard in which you can now sit and enjoy the pleasures of this very cool food emporium. Parking here is not good but they do have valet at about 7 bucks but the parking dudes gave off too much 'tude to me so i parked around the block in front of a Catholic priests residence which i figured would be safe in that God would watch over my car. Over the years, Los Feliz has become hip and expensive and i guess the same can be said about the Alcove. If you are looking to save money here...forget it. BUT! We actually were here as Happy Hour began which is 2pm. The Happy Hour specials are excellent and we glommed onto several of them today. We ordered: Beef sliders (3 in an order) Massive order of french fries Mini Chacuterie plate Pinot Grigio Fremont Lush IPA A Red Blend wine The sliders were mini burgers stuffed with good quality Angus ground beef cooked as we ordered which was med rare. The bun was fresh and buttery and the avocado slices were likewise ripe and luscious, the bacon, crispy.. The sliders were served with an aioli that had a hint of horseradish. A simple dish produced with excellent raw good and assembled expertly. The fries were from frozen potatoes i'm pretty sure but they were hot and tasty and of the skinny fry variety. The mini Chacuterie plate had slices of toasted french bread, slices of cheddar and Brie and accompanied by mini pickles and a good whole grain mustard. There was also a mystery meat which i'm going to say was a sort of in the bacon family which was sauteed? it was tasty but a mystery nonetheless. All three alcohols were of very good quality and in particular the Red was similar to a Meritage: grapey, light on the palate yet heavy on the taste side though not as light as say a Beaujolais but more like a pinot. The P Grigio was good not great: a bit wimpy on the citrus side and not as crispy, grassy as i would like. The IPA brewery is new to me yet it shares the qualities that other alcohol heavy beers exhibit: hoppy, malty, floral, earthy, citrusy and slightly bitter. Miss Selene did a wham bang job of answering our questions and kept our glasses full while dispensing her opinions all all manner of subjects that we posed. We had a very good time today and the food and drink and service certainly contributed to the overall festivities. Sadly we did not try any of the pastries (as in Cakes) for which the Alcove is famous. Next time!

Ivy Vang

I'll return with my coworkers. It has a nice interior.

Sofi Sarkisyan

Nice ambiance. Open late

Eli Zakai

Nice ambience.

Mercy Perez

First time visiting Alcove, all was great! Loved outdoor seating!

Mireille Kouchian

The perfect place for a brunch, they have delicious omelets. If you're not too hungry I suggest sharing your plate because their servings are quite generous. Make sure to get a table outdoor.

Adrienne Schlatter

Great food. Nice area. Fast service. A bit pricy. Not much street parking. Great to sit outside in nice weather!

J Michael

This place may seem a bit pricey but the food portions are very large! The staff is very friend (not like that pretend nice you get from a lot of servers). The people that work here are just generally nice people and the service is excellent. I️ got the steak egg Benedict and it was delicious. I️ dropped my beer at one point and was instantly brought a new one. Plus the mimosas are a nice touch to brunch.

Angelica Rojas

Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Definitely worth going back to. Bring your hunger - portions are generous. Feels similar to a restaurant in New York I loved.

Edward Choi

This place is great for brunch in the afternoon and great for dessert at night. Their sandwiches are mediocre, I got the turkey panini and the burger. The panini can be shared by two people, portions are big. The atmosphere at night is much prettier and if the weather is nice, it's the perfect spot for some wine and delicious pastries to go with it. I'd skip out on he dinner menu and come here for dessert and brunch. They also have a happy hour menu.

J J

Can't speak for the food as we only got coffee drinks. Great staff, good Americano and chai latte w/ oat milk, nice outdoor seating area to plop down and catch up with an old friend.

Gabriela Farias

Service is wonderful and food always delish.

Sarah Furie

Great, fresh foods. Big plates. Great outdoor seating.

Love sitting and having brunch inside the bar. Staff is friendly and helpful. Plus the white sangria , which is a brunch staple here, always makes my day, and I can usually be talked into splitting a dessert

Consuelo Ruiz

Beautiful place + the bread pudding was delicious!!

Riley Spiller

Great menu. Solid tuna melt. Baked goods were great. I tried a vegan peanut butter, banana, oatmeal cookie that was amazing. I'd love to return and try more menu items.

Great bakery-restaurant-bar with pleasant garden patios all around. A little oasis in the heart of Los Feliz. Went for the movie night where we were treated to curated drinks related to the movie. A lovely time.

Always decadent treats

Great atmosphere and really nice eclectic setting area. I love the food here, and to sit outside on Hillhurst, relax with my blackened salmon and do a little reading, is really nice. One of my favorite places in Los Felix.

Wannis Arzromalian

Great place to invite your friends or take you, girlfriend, for nice breakfast or dinner. She will love it.

Renata Struharik

Great deserts, exelent coffee and amazing atmosphere. Thanks

Barbara Estey

We went for breakfast and I ordered the salmon stack. Potato latkes were just hash brown rounds over done, not the potato latkes one would expect (I've made them and know how they're supposed to be) the smoked salmon was cut way too thick, one tablespoon of sour cream and a tiny sprig of fresh dill. Eggs were poached nicely though. Disproportionate plate and heavy on the thick salmon. Although the bartenders were charming, even my bloody mary tasted fishy after I read overwhelmed by the slabs of smoked salmon. Great ambience but food was not thought out well.

Had a beautiful experience at this place. Got there about 10:30, and the line to order at the counter was still pretty long. Even so, when we ordered, the guy helping us (Devin) was extremely accommodating! My wife and I are both disabled, and even though they were very busy, Devin carried our food (we had desserts) and drinks out and helped us find a table. When I offered him a tip, he refused it, saying, "Hey, I'm just being a human being." He even came back to check on/chat with us some more. It was incredibly kind! The desserts were delicious, the ambiance on the outdoor patio was very relaxing, and the whole experience was top-notch. To Devin and the rest of the staff: thank you for a beautiful ending to our night out. We'll definitely be back!!!

Damien Huggard

A fantastic and eclectic restaurant. Counter order and table service put the establishment in the casual category. The food and the great patio make it great!

David Nordel

Wonder ambiance and amazing food!

Nefarious

This place is great. Nice atmosphere with great tea, food and dessert. Sit in the garden if you can it's very peaceful. Be sure to check the drawers of the furniture inside for some funny notes. Leave your own.

Aesthetically so beautiful and such a vibe but the staff was so rude and did not explain the process at all for first time diners. There's no signage to help either. The food was not good at all - at least the burger that we had. Such potential but ruined by careless staff.

Jaieun Han

Went for brunch. Food was amazing and staffs were nice.

Mary M

Great salads!! I loved the salmon one! They also have several baked goods in a bakery case you can choose from. Great fresh food, yum!

Our group came here after a CalTri Viking Dash in the hills of Griffith Park ... yes we were hungry and ready for cocktails. Called ahead and asked about wait list and how long wait would be. Only about 10minute wait .., but we actually got seated right away. They seem to reserve tables for groups who will be drinking . Menu in diverse and delicious. Part of our group got breakfast - French toast ..oh mah gosh ... the rest of us ordered lunch -french dip and jidori chicken sandwich . salad .. fries ... and some signature cocktails. Everything was great and arrived at our table quickly and hot. Service was incredible... that's what going out to eat is all about... the service ... i know .. i know food is primary but food in LA can't be had anywhere .... but great service .. enjoying atmosphere, ambiance, being catered too ... is really what ..a nice outing is all about. The restaurant is an old California bungaló still keeping with the floor plan. Seating inside, outside, front patio , back patio ...Charming.. airy.. inviting ... wanna spend the entire day .. drinking cocktails kind of place ‍. VERY dog friendly ... love that. oh my gosh too full to try the desserts ... but oh man they they looked ahhhmazing ... Perfect spot for coffee and dessert date or whiskey and dessert date .... u seeing a theme here ... ok .. theme in my life lol lol Most people seem to get in line first to order them get a number then grab a table ... but if ur boozing it up (like us alcoholics ) ...let them know ... u may get a table right away ... Or, just walk in to the cool bar and have a seat. that's my plan .. anyways ... next time. Ps. Valet Parking available ... but we chose to park and walk ... calorie burning ... getting our steps in ... hey it makes us feel better about our two cocktails

Feel better about the city?

A beautiful swanky eatery that offers plenty of dining options. The baked goods looked amazing. The bar area where I sat offers amazing drinks and you can order food from the bar. Plenty of outdoor seating. Perfect for a date with a new interest, significant other or friends.

Kian Moghaddam

One of the great places in the area! Remember the portions are big enough! Foods are freshly made, and the customer service is in a high level. There is inside and outside seating areas, and it could be a wait-time for busy days.

Johan Hizon

awesome ambiance..

Andrew Kiernan

Really really really good food

Kenny Kareem

The food is excellent and the ambiance matches the fare. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely worth checking out!

This is quite a famous place, and for good reason. Cupcakes, tea, other sweets are very tasty here, the interior is good, it's just nice to be in this place. I think it’s great for breakfast. I recommend everyone 10/10

I got the Currie chicken wrap which came with a aside salad. For $15, I thought initially this was a bit pricey as it was lunch. However, that is a very filling meal. Came with a good amount of chicken, brown rice, chestnuts and was flavorful. I would definitely come back. Not often cause I'd be broke spending $20 on lunch daily!

Jen A

The food is good, but the desserts have so much sugar, and I'm somebody that actually loves chocolate, I couldn't eat but a couple bites! The sugar totally overpowers all the flavors. We had lemon bar and it was the same way, just loaded with sugar. We wasted about 20 bucks with tips on two desserts that we couldn't even eat because they both were filled with way too much sugar!!

jenna keady

Best place, best people who work there, best food!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Diman Faratov

We found the place to be very cozy and relaxed, staff are very friendly and nice, great selection of beer. The food was just okay but don’t let me put you off. The bartenders make lots of mixed drinks with strainers and so on, I noticed this was a drawback when the Celtics pre-game crowd walked in, you may be waiting a few minutes to get served. Overall nice place and reasonably priced.

Mommy Moon

Cocktails are delicious! Enjoyed the vibe at the bar, excellent portion size, food was delicious... Service was excellent as well!

Brooke Taylor

I’ve visited Alcove about 3 times and the desserts and lunch are amazing! I got the buffalo chicken wrap (which I’ve gotten twice) and I can never finish it all! It’s very satisfying and delicious! One of my favorite places in Los Feliz.

Mandy Michels Kay

Great food and service! We went here for breakfast before our flight back to Pennsylvania. Will return during our next visit.

Ray Skwire

Excellent food and atmosphere.

Heather

Such a cute place. Loved the ivy covered terrace. The food was good. I would go back again!

S. Merrill

Awesome food and serene Victorian environment.

Been here many times since the restaurant has a very large front patio and a smaller side patio. It is dog friendly. There is no table service. You enter & stand in line, place your order at the counter and get a number. Someone does bring the food to you. The place has really astonishing pastries and I don't know how I managed to avoid eating them. This is a very casual cafe type place. They have soups of the day. They're very popular at breakfast although I was not impressed with their breakfast. Their salads are great. I'm a big fan of the alcove Burger. I like the Apple coleslaw. My friend is a big fan of the salmon. There is a very nice, but small bar adjacent to the main dining area. They do have wonderful cocktails & craft beers. Specialty coffees are also available. There is no parking lot or structure. They do however have valet parking. It is not free. There is minimal metered parking on Hillhurst.

Gustavo Marroquin

My mom and I had the Country Breakfast and the Breakfast Burrito and were completely satisfied. Lots of food (we had leftovers to take home) and the service was top notch!

Armine Galoyan

Filthy place, awful food and pricy valet parking. Wasting money and time.

Benjamin Cherry

Order at the counter, seat yourself, and then receive delicious, fresh food. The staff here are friendly and welcoming (without exception, from the folks behind the counter to those serving and busing the tables), and the indoor/outdoor setting is stylish and relaxed. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. A lovely place to enjoy breakfast and capitalize on that southern California climate.

monica obaga

Always busy and full, with some celebrity spotting BUT also the best spot to chill and chat for hours under tree and sun. They have menus for anytime of day. You could have lunch, your friend have a beer and your other friend have tea and cake. Also great for business meetings.

Ren S

Great bar. Awesome drinks. Fun bartenders. If you early-ish, might not be too big a crowd. We didn't have too much issues finding street parking, although we did have to walk a little. :)

Gabe Ellis

If you love Urth Caffé, then you will love this place. The set up is very similar which is fun, but also makes sense why the prices are WAY higher than they need to be. My mom & I went here for brunch and ended up spending close to $60 on an omelette and one breakfast burrito. It is very beautiful and does have a lot of street parking which is nice, but if you're not looking to spend a lot then I would recommend one of the other breakfast / lunch places on the same street. There are tons of options which is very nice. Quality of food was good, but not enough for me to come back.

HalahGarnet Obsidian

One of the best places to meet up with friends or, a date (okay to bring your pups on the patio). Nestled on a busy street, this converted bungalow has a large patio with a canopy of trees, indoor seating, a large bar and a to-go counter (you may wish to use Valet service at certain times if day). The food is a spectrum of cafe food, many salads, hot and cold meals, excellent coffees and teas and amazing desserts (perfect to bring to a dinner/gathering).

LILIANA GREEN

Been coming here for years and the place is always evolving and changing for the better. But the food is always great ... that has never changed.

Ronald Ham

Great strong coffee. Super nice staff. Got greeted by all employees who made eye contact with me. Hospitality is a big reason to always come back to the alcove

Beeks Ranellara

First time here since I was in the area. I got the chipotle chicken panini sandwich with sweet potatoes fries. To my surprise, it came with a roasted jalapeño (for those spicy aficionados). The sandwich and fries tasted very fresh, not refrigerated. The area was very clean and the staff was extremely attentive. Will definitely come back if in the area.

Mikhail Sverdlov

Very cool vibe. The outdoor seating reminded me of Ivy on Robertson. Flexibility of being able to serve yourself or Ave table service is appreciated. Food is delicious great bakery. I have not tried drinks but they looked fantastic. Service is very attentive even though not always helpful. Overall very pleasant time spent.

Brent Mclaughlin

Two thumbs up for this place. Certainly worth going back to. This place has a nice design. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I loved.

Carlos carlos

This place feels very chilled out and welcoming. Great ambience. To top it up, they serve the best chocolate cake ever! Only comparable to the one the chubby kid from Matilda is made to eat! Since he didn't share that cake from the film with anyone, I would say this is the best one out there!

Steve Apana

Best breakfast place ever

Nancy Harmon

Chris

Great food and very good staff. It's a cafe style order at the counter and sit to wait for food.

Mike Grace

Bad service period should of got Chinese food

Julia M

This is a very cute cafe, but every time I’ve eaten here I’ve been underwhelmed by the food. The long wait also puts me off. I guess if you enjoy the ambiance of the place with not terrible eats, sure why not.

Elijah Randall

Super tasty. I've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. Bring your appetite because portions are filling. Feels similar to a cafe in Chicago I loved.

Jens Neufinck

Great place with yummy food and beautiful outside seating.
