D.e.L.i.C.i.O.u.S everything. :) Amazing Fresh Tasty Spinach & cheese Burek's... light and fluffy. Fresh baked breads, my favorite is the Kifla...just try it, if you like bread (and who doesn't? )than you'll like the Kifla.... BUT ya get there a little bit before lunch to get some and if you want it fresh. Oh-and don't forget to get a Cappuccino. ..very yummy... can't imagine dipping the Kifla in anything else. ;) Go and try them. Promise you will love them. 6.7.2017 We had to force ourselves to take a break ...but I think it's that time again where we will be coming here for lunch more often and indulging ourselves with Kifla's and Burek's.. and cappuccino and one of everything lol.

I dont know if is just lack of marketing skills, lazyness or is an european thing that they close the hospitality bussiness at 5 pm during the weekday (when usually thats the time other bussiness finishes their day) and in weekends at 1pm when u should be open late because thats when lots of people have time to come AND GIVE YOU MONEY,you know that thing that keeps you in bussiness!!! Typical europeans, rude, unproffesional and lazy!!!

John Collings

Very pleased great food great service

Moved into an apartment just around the corner of here, so me and my wife decided to try it out, and we both have to say we decided to go here. I had never had burek before, but if burek is always this good, I feel sad not having had it until now. My wife and I would very much recommend going here if you have the chance.

anthony ciro

The owners of this bakery are incredibly friendly. They serve amazing pastries and breads, some of which I have never experienced before eating here. I highly recommend the cheese or beef bureks and the cream puffs. An added bonus is that you can call ahead to have your order set aside and waiting for you. The Balkan Bakery is a hidden gem in North Phoenix!

mishkele sheynele

This bakery has such a great selection of bureci, baklava, and great selection Balkanski zakuski unique to the region that I haven't found anywhere else in Arizona. The staff is friendly, helpful and full of charming character. Highly recommend it if you come from the Balkan area or if you want to enjoy some great food and drink!

Adis Nuhanovic

I've been going there ever since they opened, tried every item on the menu and I couldn't find a single thing I didn't like. They make fresh bread every morning and they don't sell their leftovers (I doubt there are any). Also when you go there try the Burek, Chevapi and the Tiramisu because it will be the happiest day ever for your taste buds ☺️

I came to buy 10 bureks, and was told that I can buy only 4 at times unless I call 1h ahead. Bummer, another with this place. Im ok with the rule, however it was not clearly presented and woman that works there was sort of rude pointing at poorly written sign located on the side of the glass refrigerator. They had plenty prepared... it seemed like they were not in mood to sell. She was sort of mad at me for wanting to buy extra. Oh well, my family of 10 had to share 4 bureks.Haha. Not friendly stuff, pita is ok.... UPDATE: Owner replied to me, instead to trying to work things out he continued argument. “We do have a walk-in limit of 4 bureks that we make available immediately, anything more than 4 has to be ordered 1 hour in advance on the phone or in person that your family has honored for many years. There is a sign clearly written on our burek display case including on our main burek menu board, it had nothing to do with us not wanting to sell it explicitly to you. The sign is for all of our customers, we do not pick and choose. Knowing that you're familiar with our business, you've ignored our rule. We have repeatedly continued to give you an option to come back for the full order in an hour, which you've rudely dismissed including some disrespectful comments toward us. Freshly prepared burek requires time and for a larger quantity such as yours, we only asked an hour of time.“” Just to clear things out, I wasn’t familiar with the rule. Why would I even write that in my review? Assuming that I’m familiar with the rule because of my family (parents) visit your store is not a fair argument. Im not ignoring rules

I'm no conessour of Balkan food, but this place is amazing. Came here for a quick lunch and immediately returned for coffee and breakfast the next morning. The burek is fantastic, I especially enjoyed the beef one. Their coffee is smooth and delicious and their desserts are unmatched. The owner/staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. I believe this will be my new quick bite lunch stop.

The Balkan Bakery in Phoenix was a real treat. It is a small place with a few tables inside and 3 tables outside. In a small strip mall it could be easy to missed. If you do miss it turn around and come in for a treat. The cappuccino report. You like strong coffee. This is the place. And so flavorful. My honey is the coffee expert and she rated it very highly. I have not heard her so excited about coffee in a long time. Next have a burek in one of several flavors, beef, cheese, or spinach. There were four of us and we tried all of them and were pleased to find a dish none of us had ever had before and all of us enjoyed. You can watch them preparing the burek, where they start with an oh so thin dough, add a small long pile of the filling, roll roll roll it into a long rope, then with a butter brush and wrap it and bake. It is very good. Now I had to try some of the bread, and I must say I enjoyed it. The next course was baklava, different from other baklavas I have had, but the Balkan treat was loved by all. Go enjoy, try something new. Wow!

Balkan Bakery is a must for Eastern European / Croatian cuisine. A perfect lunch spot. The Ćevapi is amazing along with all the baked goods. They also have an assortment of imported goods to take home such as smoked / cured meats, condiments, etc etc.

My sister and I walked in knowing nothing about this place other than it was on tv (which is why we decided to check it out in the first place). It was absolutely fantastic! Not only the food, but the staff, the cleanliness, and the overall atmosphere. The woman working the counter was knowledgeable and pleasant. She answered every question we had (there were a lot) with a smile. I've also learned how fantastic burek is. If you're visiting Phoenix, definitely go check this place out!

Marco Galli

Best bread, pastries and cappuccino in town!

So wonderful to have an authentic Balkan bakery to buy fresh bread, dried and smoke meat, pastries, and especially food! All the filo dough is made fresh as well as the pastries! The coffee is amazing. Makes me feel at home here.

This was my first visit to Balkan Bakery, and I wasn't disappointed. I was searching for baklava, and this bakery popped up . Not only did they have really good baked goods(I missed out on the cream puffs!), the food was good too, and the were a lot of fun products to browse/buy too. I'll be going back for pastry and coffee. Oh, and the staff was very friendly and patient while explaining the goods. A great little place!

I haven't found another place like this yet in Phoenix. Forget Wildflower, Panera, any of the other so called fresh bread places. This crew is the real deal--up at 4am to make the dough, let it rise and bake it before they open the doors to customers at 9. The crust is thin and crunchy and the inside moist and chewy. We love the whole grain version. And there are Balkan delights like cheese, spinach or potato filled burek, rolls, several sweet treats (even baklava) and a little cold case of Polish, German and other sausages and unique items. The staff are always so friendly and happy to answer any questions about the different breads (I had lots of questions to start with)! And now we've found this, the store bought stuff or bread that's from frozen dough that's been "made fresh that day" just won't do.Oh, and they make coffee to go with that, too!

Kyle McFarland

Everything they sell is amazing.

The best Burek and Cevapi in Phoenix

Aleksandar Petkovic

if I only knew about this place earlier. I have been living in Phoenix for 10 years and I just found out about this gem. So far I tried cheese burek and cevapi and they were both oh so delicious. I will most likely stop by this place at least once a week from now on. Besides freshly made food, they also have few grocery items from the Balkans like ajvar, pasteta, kafa, kisele paprike, vegeta, supa that you can buy and take home.

Mihajlo Mrdja

One of the best places to experience eastern European foods. Served hot and redy with different choices of flavors. This family owned business is a must try

My first visit was today and I already want to go back. All the bread products are made fresh either daily or throughout the day. The service was great. Had a nice chat with Jay. He was friendly and answered all my questions. The prices were reasonable and the store was clean. Just an FYI, this is the same bakery that moved from down the street. Google still shows both. THIS location is the one currently open. I highly recommend it.
