I've been bringing my wife here for the last 25 years. Great authentic Mexican food and Mexican sweet bread. You can eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a freshly baked panisito. I recommend this place to anyone in the downtown area. Small business with Big reputation.

Great food. Had Asada burro. Most places make asada too greasy, but not here. Excellent chimichanga and machaca as well. Larry the cook is fantastic and takes pride in every meal. Everything is made in house. Try the tamales too! The bakery has excellent cookies and pastries too!

I ordered a breakfast plate! Rancheros... I didn't know that Sonirian food came with a lot of Cheddar Chesse!!! And SALAD! yes...breakfast with Salad and the ladies there believe that they work in a Bank...they barely want to talk to you.... Someone in that restaurant needs to take a trip to Mexico and order a Ranchero breakfast plate....

Phoenix Arizona has a wide array of Mexican food to choose from. This restaurant offers quick filling Sonoran style Mexican food. There a machaca is more of a stew meat but cannot be beat. Are usually judge a place by its tastiness of its refried beans. They have some of the best I’ve tasted.. The burritos are fat, and by all means get it enchilada style. If you are craving a pastry, theirs is OK. I have had better elsewhere in the valley. And don’t forget to pick up a dozen tortillas to take home. Made fresh each day.

My co-work bought a 6 pack of tacos the other day and shared them with us. The tacos were the bomb and they had really good red salsa to pour over them. I never knew this place existed, but now that I do I will make it one of my regular spots for Mexican food. YUMMY

Food was good but this girl at the register (slim with glasses) hustled me for the difference in price between carne asada plate vs 2 taco plate hahahahaha. My girl ordered a carne asada plate then they came out and said sorry no mas carne asada. When I asked home girl for a refund on the difference she was really having a hard time shelling out that refund. Difference was like 2 bucks (no biggie) but she’s like “hey it’s only like a dollar..still want that money?” I said sure why not, then she’s like “ok it’s only like .70....you still want that money?” Hahahahaha we just left. I think they need donations or something here at Azteca

My mother used to take me to Azteca Bakery when it was located in the old Goldengate neighborhood by Phx Skyharbor on 16th st and Buckeye rd when i was a child and they have always had great food but in recent years their Red chili Burrito is on Point. I'll drive there just for that burrito!

Food is so/so. I dont think I would drive more then 5 min to come to this place. Decor? Fix the place up please. your making enough so make it look a little nicer. Food? Its okay, when your hungry and you work near by its a good place to go. Service? I think they drive to Mexico to get the meat and drive back and cook it. SLOW! If you know anything about Mexican cooking, its not that complicated to make.

This was my first time visiting Azteca Bakery and Mexican Food. I got a Walters Special burrito, this is what the front counter girl recommended. It was pretty tasty. Eggs, potato, bacon, and cheese. Nothing crazy or over thentop, plain and simple. The bacon was nice and crispy, and it was nice and fill, every bite had filling. I placed my order to go so I didn't get to enjoy the restaurant. It's small and has outside seating. I gave it only 4 stars since it was my first time and I have nothing to rate it against. I will be going back.

I don’t get downtown often. Yesterday I couldn’t help but notice how many cars were in the parking lot at 11 am. My associate and I had to give it a shot. Shredded beef tacos were delicious. Thick corn tortillas hot off the grill just like my grandmother used to make. Oh so tasty. Rave reviews for the torta from my friend who used to live in Mexico. Take home flour tortillas earned major husband-of-the-year points. This is a gem that is not really hidden. Just go!

I grew up in the neighborhood and have been going to Azteca my whole life. This place is special so don't F this place up. Don't ruin it or I'll come after you LOL this place is still amazing with such delicious food. It's like sitting in Grandma's Kitchen. I had three soft chicken tacos yesterday. It was street style on corn tortillas. It was super filling and only five bucks. So much flavor so much life. You are missing out if you haven't eaten here. Whatever you're doing stop! and go to Azteca right now and go get some food. By the way the red salsa is Bomb Diggity I would put that on everything. You can put it on bad food and it will make it taste amazing LOL it's so freaking good five stars!!

The food was very good but the price and service, not so much. The girl taking our order was to busy gossiping that she screwed up both orders. One was a combination plate, which she rung up as just a burro and a simple side of guac on a separate order. Minor, I guess, but we didn't pay attention to the receipt until the order came out. We were the only ones in the restaurant besides a couple who were already eating. Would have given 5 * if the service was up tu o par.

Food as always was excellent and service was above expectations. Today's experience was not as pleasurable as two years ago. I understand that the remodeling will enhance customer experience but reopening before the final touches may not have be in the best interest of the customer. Not having any menus meant waiting until you arrived at the cashier to place your order which meant a delay and causes a wait. Hopefully the kinks will be resolved and it'll return to a more pleasurable Customer experience.

Good food but they make you wait over 30minutes after you place your order that they apparently lost while I was standing right there the whole time and then I don’t even get an apology for makings me wait and miss my whole lunch break no real concerned for my wait knowing that I’m a working-class person and only have a short lunch break like everyone else so much for respecting my time. Moral of the story is based on my personal experience I don’t really feel like they value me as a customer here. It’s very easy to find good food and good service at the same restaurant but I don’t know what their exact issue is here for not receiving both.

Food is good, the eating area is pretty cramped unless you want to sit outside in a non air-conditioned eating area. BUT the food is good, your best bet is to order your food to go. They close really early, so dinner is out of the question. When their baked goods are plentiful, take advantage!

The sweet bread is able to hold it's own with other bakeries and the flour tortillas are some of the best in town...the texture and flavor are as close to "home made" as we've found. went here this morning and got pan dulce for a work potluck and also order a burrito.. First.. I paid with a $20 and she did not have change. took at least 5 minutes to get change. then people that ordered after me got their order first.. 20 minutes went by and I still didn't have my burrito.. and the lady(cashier) says "you're burrito is coming" ...
