This Bakery corresponds to the category of Breakfast restaurant.
Great home cooked breakfast! Nice atmosphere, very good service and of course the food was great. You gotta try the cinnamon roll !This was our first visit but we will not hesitate to return here next time visiting Fairbanks.
Great place to eat. The food is delicious and for the area affordable. Service is hit or miss but overall I've been enjoying my breakfast here the past week.
Fantastic place to meet and have a hearty breakfast.
The prime rib country fried steak was delicious! A little hard to figure out how to get into the parking due to construction.
one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks !
Hash was very good. Service great! Busy place with homemade bread. Very yummy!
Clean, good service, great food
We ate at the Cookie Jar several times during our stay in Fairbanks. Our group was fairly large so we tried lots of different items from the menu. No matter what was ordered or what meal we were eating, everyone LOVED what they got. Everything was tasty, well presented and served with a smile. Great food with great service! A must for visitors and should be a staple for locals!!
Delicious! We stopped here for a late lunch and everything was great! I had the French Dip with fried onions and Swiss, it was.perfect to say the least. To top it off, the bun was grilled, a nice touch mostl restaurants miss. My daughter had the cheessteak which she said was great. We took dessert home, even though we did not yet eat it, we know it's going to be out of this world good, just based on appearance. Two thumbs up for the cookie jar!
My brother was lost in the Alaskan wilderness for about 6 days- so I flew to Alaska. He was found!!!! This is where he wanted to go after he was strong enough to leave his cabin. We all got the halibut burgers which were delicious! And he said the cinnamon rolls where crazy good. Omg- each one is like a mini, 3-teir cake! You can order them with or without raisins.
Great place for breakfast! My only complaint is that the tables are a little close together for large people like me, but the food is so good the place gets packed so I get it. We bring fam here when they travel from Outside. They all crave the biscuits.
The food is delicious. The best muffins I've ever had. Fast service and clean establishment.
Man the food is amazing. How can you go wrong with French toast made out of a home made cinnamon roll?! Service is always friendly. Foods always hot and fresh. Huge portions to boot! Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Simply the best restaurant in Fairbanks!! Quality of the food was great, great taste and great and healthy produces( it is very hard to find a resturant in Fairbanks with tasty foods and great quality materials, Staff was great, we were there almost at 8pm and they were closing but we had a great service with friendly server. I recommend this restaurant with 5 stars.
The food was very tasty. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was prepared just as it should be with hand egg dipped bread, ham, Swiss, and cheddar cheese, with raspberry preserves. Wife's chicken wrap was delicious as well, but was missing the bacon due to a communication problem. To make up for it, we were given at no charge, three of their delicious chocolate chip cookies. To boot, they gave me a 10% military discount.
Best family restaurant in town
If you like good strong coffee, come here! I had the corned beef hash. It was real corned beef but the hash was a patty of processed "resturaunt style" hashbrowns. The taste was fine but I don't really care for potato shreds. It has a diner atmosphere with Alaska Tourist prices.
Very excellentservice and food. Attentive, courteous and friendly staff. The beef strogganoff was very good.
Tasty breakfast and friendly staff
One of the best breakfast restaurants in all of Fairbanks. Frequently crowded and might take a little to get seated, but worth the wait. While great, this is probably not the place for people on diets as they have an extensive menu of unhealthy (but good) dishes.
Pretty good food. Great service. Well lite dining area.
A must go place for breakfast! I go every time I am in Fairbanks. Great food and friendly service!
Took us a while to get our food, but the food was really good and the portions are huge, so I ended up taking two lunches worth of food home with me. Friendly service, cute place, little touristy items you can buy if that's your fancy.
Great place for breakfast with really nice people working in it.
Amazing. Best breakfast in Fairbanks, hands down. Fluffy waffles, amazingly thick cut homemade toast. Coffee was so-so. Overall 15/10 recommend.
Good coffee, great breakfast. A little crowded on the weekends. But well worth any wait.
Ordered my Corned Beef Hash and Scrambled eggs with white toast as always. My friend had the 3 piece French Toast and aside of Bacon. He didn’t get his bacon till after we were all done eating. Our waitress reassured that it’s still coming but won’t be charged because of the long wait. And our coffee was always filled if empty. I love that their breads are fresh made daily for their menu and who doesn’t love fresh baked bread? Great breakfast place hands down.
Decent family restaurants are few and far between here. The Cookie Jar is a tradition with our grandsons. Staff is amicable and accommodating and the food is good, portions generous.
Good food..good service... seems a little expensive
Due to a detour, I went by so stopped to get some cookies. They are usually really big but today they were the size of store bought cookies but same price. I even commented on this, only response was that someone else must have made them. I've been eating at Cookie Jar for years but the last 2 times were not up-to-par.
Wow! Eat here. Great food and huge portions. Cinnamon roll French toast will change your life! Can be crowded so go early or be prepared to wait (it's worth it). Get some baked goods to go. Pretty affordable, too.
Think this place is over rated. Service is not up to par any more. Food quality has gone down hill. Had my favorite stroganoff, and it came out floating in grease, sauce separating. After that every other meal has been so so.
Took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get an adequate cold Turkey sandwich with fries and we were the lucky ones. Dont go there not worth the mediocre food and poor service.
Fantastic place. Only second time eating here. First time it didn't seem really special for price. Recently went again and waiters were lovely and food fantastic. Many homemade dishes is nice. They have a few vegetarian options.
Great food, went their as a guest for a Christmas Party and met the entire staff. Everyone was awesome. Really respectful. I would recommend it to everyone.
Not great, but not terrible. Convenient if you are getting your car seviced.
Had late breakfast here today. It was sooo yummy !!! The Cinnabon French toast really really is good ! I also had a breakfast sandwich that was so good, the frisco. They serve breakfast all day. Service was also so fast and friendly. STEVE there was so patient with us in choosing cookies and just having a great conversation with us. Awesome server ! Would def com back if I’m ever in the area again.
This place was amazing, please go try it out.
The location and building are great, feels like grandma's dining room in a good way. Food is awful. I've been here multiple times and I have never enjoyed my meal. Such a shame, this place seems to be loved by all.
We loved this place! The food and service are wonderful. My husband had the tuna melt and I had the Monte Crisco. They were delicious. The homemade bread is very fresh and out of this world on the taste. I also had a green salad with the homemade ranch dressing and it was perfect. The biggest surprise was the sweet tea. Coming from Florida, I wasn't sure what I would get up here in Alaska. It was probably the best iced tea I have ever had. With all of that said about the delicious food, I cannot write this review without mentioning Brooke, our server. She was so pleasant and very knowledgeable of the entire menu and this beautiful city of Fairbanks that she seems to love very much. I wish all people working in the customer service area would be as polite and have an absolutely beautiful soul as this young lady does. I will probably never see her again but I wish her the best that life has to offer. She really helped in making our evening a very memorable one. Thank you for the fabulous food and the amazing service!
Food is always good but the service has gone way downhill over the years. Went there for lunch today, the waitress put us in a corner and forgot about us...an hour later we got our food, then she forgot about us again. Finally brought a bill then never came back, charged us for things we didn’t order and finally brought the boxes that we had asked for 3 previous times! Don’t think I’ll go back for awhile, hoping they can improve their service!
Busy. Wait wasnt too long. Friendly, fast service. A bit pricey but good food. Definitely try the Nolan breakfast
Nice breakfast, but a bit underwhelmed. Got the country fried steak - prime rib cut - with eggs. Prime rib was okay, but overcooked and tough. I ordered eggs over medium, but they came out very runny, more over easy as the whites weren't even cooked. The gravy looked very appealing but lacked seasoning and flavor. Service was outstanding! Had my food within 10 minutes of being seated, check came out promptly, but not sure I'm coming back for another go.
Good ol fashion comfort food! Was an amazing treat to eat there. So good!
Really great place. Food is good. Service is a little slow even when not busy so dont come here for a quick bite. Prices are a little high in my opinion, but nothing to discourage me from coming back
Went there and got the Reuben it was decent the bread fell apart and felt like the side of fries were on the small side
Friendly service but very slow. Restaurant was not busy and we waited 20 minutes for our food. Food was just ok. One piece of candy was $4.50. We would not go back.
I am the bus driver, had 29 elderly, service was great food was very good.
Best service I have had in a long time. Food was excellent as well!!
Loved this place. (Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives) 6 of us ordered all different foods from the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner menu and each one was better than the next. Who has room for dessert...not me...but half of us ordered it anyway. Staff was great, food was better! They have the biggest Cinnamon Roll I have ever seen, it should probably be in the Guinness book of World Records
Everything was fabulous!! Don't forget the cinnamon rolls! Service was great. Can't say enough about this place. I will recommend to all my friends.
Food was great but service pretty slow initially. It got better though.
The Cookie Jar is one of the more popular breakfast places in Fairbanks. That said, they also serve lunch and dinner - although there is no dinner service on Sunday. Be aware that peak times on weekends you will likely have to wait for seating, and the entry area does not have copious amounts of seating. However, the food is worth the inconvenience. The food is good and fresh, with unique items on the menu. The French Toast made from cinnamon rolls is a family favorite, whether regular or stuffed. They offer the best country fried steak in town, with their house version being a breaded cut of prime rib (although a traditional version is available). The home fries are a great potato option. Portions are ample. The one thing to be aware of is that it can be loud during peak times. If you have people hard of hearing or sensitive to noise in your group, you may want to ask for a table in one of the alcoves or their large party area as they are quieter than the main dining room.
Great food, most staff didn't seem to want to be there as thier attitude reflects such. Felt as if I was a burden.
Delicious food for a good price! Even the kids menu is filling - I recommend the mac n' cheese. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is even better!
I'd come here simply for the cinnamon rolls. Soft, warm, and sweet.
Great place for lunch or dinner. It's very family oriented and the service is excellent. Our waitress was very nice and polite. The burgers here are freshly made with great taste...
Delicious, not an arm and leg.
Cozy restaurant, large portions, friendly staff. Good casual dining.
A black small roach walked across my table, up the wall to the ledge. You tell me, did I stay!
Decent home style food. Service was slow but overall experience was good
This is a great local spot!! The food was great. Staff is very nice and friendly. There is out door seating if you would like to enjoy the weather. This place has been on TV drives and dives. Great place check it out. Thanks. From Albuquerque, NM. Safe travels
Great coconut cream pie!
Wide selection of quality food. They get the basics right.
Guy's recommendation was correct
I have been there twice, and I am baffled at how they made it on DDD. It is okay food at best for a diner, but there is better in Fairbanks AK
Food is good, service is on par as well. Tons of good food options for morning, noon, and night. The atmosphere leaves some things to be desired. The dining area in the front is in a very awkward configuration, and the dining area in the back was loud with conversation when more than a few people were also dining in that area.
They are not nice to their employees...
Wholesome food, great portions, quality and delicious! Service was most excellent.
Great food and even better service
Their foods is delicious. It come with a big platter . I can't even finish my food .
Super fantastic food. Sundays are really crowded so be sure you go before the church crowd gets there.
Awesome!!! I love the cinnamon rolls and breakfast selection
Great American brunch in Alaska!! Must try the omelettes and sandwiches! Huge portions!!
Surprisingly bad. Omlets made with boxed eggs not fresh. Asked for crispy hashbrowns got exact opposite. Toast was not! Butter on toast is not butter! I was surprised when i arrived on a Friday at 640 there was 2 tables full. Now i know why. There used to be no better place for breakfast, no longer true
This is by far one of the best places I have eaten in a long time. I ate there around 4 times furing my 2 week visit to Fairbanks and ordered a different item each time. I will say that everything was absolutely phenomenal, including the sides and bread. I would almost fly my family to Fairbanks just to go-to this restaurant
I enjoy the food (only been here for breakfast but on many occasions) and I love the quaint decor with all of the cookie jars. But this place gets packed and food can take a long time if you go in the weekends. I don’t mind waiting because they refill your coffee but if you have hungry littles ones, be warned. Lol.
Gross food, horribly outdated decor. I had Stromboli that was disgusting. The filling was just bland sauce and hamburger meat. It had the taste and texture of something that had been microwaved. My daughter's fries also seemed reheated and buffalo chicken nuggets were soggy. Don't go.
Great cafe, serving breakfast, lunch, salads, cakes and cookies. Diverse menu, special treats. The staff was friendly and efficient. Recommended.
Delicious breakfast! We came here twice on our vacation. I love that they give you the option to have your meal as an omelet or skillet. I had the skillet and loved it! The pumpkin spice latte was also perfection. It’s hard to find a good breakfast spot that also serves a good latte! The only dish that wasn’t a “win” in our book was the biscuits and gravy (a bit bland).
Ordered ribeye steak hash browns and egg white and it was cooked to perfection; Plus the toast ordered whole wheat was just as good. Definite must recommend to visit and eat.
Service review only- after waiting 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order we got ahold of the hostess who said someone would be by. Another 5 minutes went by without seeing anyone. So we left. Let the front of house know on the way out and nobody seems to care. Wasn't that busy. Plenty of blue shirts standing around.
I ordered the veggie omelet, and it was great. My sister had the French toasts, and she loved it.
We were in Fairbanks in June and wanted to try local restaurants. This was such a great choice. The waitress was helpful in telling us some non tourist activities which were really great ideas. The food was delicious and wow, those cinnamon buns were amazing.
This place is so cozy and cute. It's got gifts, cookie jars and cookies/yummy treats in the front area with cute little tables and chairs. When you walk in the door, you're greeted by a wooden moose chef. The waitresses seat you at a little table. Very small little restaurant but very inviting and nice and quiet. The food is like classic American food... Burgers, cheese steaks, root beer floats, meatloaf, pie, lemonade, etc. Also a few things like noodles, soups and salads. Typical drinks like sodas, milk, chocolate milk...a few drinks offer refills. They also offer the breakfast foods all day. All meals are a good helping sizes and taste home made. Even the kids meal was big! We love taking our kids! We prefer this place over Food Factory. Oh a fun note... Guy Fieri visited once for his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show. A big poster with his autograph is on the wall!
Great food, excellent service from Brooke!!!
Stuffed Nolan's was delicious but very sweet, also came with 5-6 pieces of bacon! Friendly server.
This place has such great food. It's always busy which tells you that people know how good it is. If you like french toast, try theirs... They make one out of cinnamon rolls! Whaaa!!!!!???? It's delicious
So, my husband and I went there on a Friday night and I was shocked how empty it was. We have not been there in quite a while but every time before they were packed. After eating there, I'm not sure if I'm correct but I think it's because of the food and the service. Our waitress, even though she had a great personality, was slow and a little forgetful. The food was not as amazing as it has been in the past. It was not horrible by any means, just not like I remembered it. I hope they are still doing well and it was just an off night.
Very nice waiters and good grub
I think they forgot we were there! Waited an unreasonably long time to order and and even longer for the food. Our friend asked about the soup of the day and the server went into great detail about it and then when our friend asked for it the server said "sorry,we're out"! Hilarious, you cant make this stuff up. Would not return or recommend. I wish I would have snapped a photo of the meatloaf...a picture being worth a thousand words and all.
Sandwiches and breakfast food did not disappoint and live up to the hype!
Great food, wide variety of food to choose from. Large portions.
Good portions, made from scratch food.
Went New Year’s Day.. it was PACKED! Still got good, very prompt service. Good, hearty portions. Hash browns were great!
One of the best breakfasts you can get in Fairbanks. Lasagnas are so yummy. And I can't get out with out at least one price of those delicious chocolates. Try them all.!!!
This joint was so yummy 10/10 would definitely recommend
Service was not good and food was just okay. I was expecting better from the reviews and word of mouth. I would go back again, but it wont be my first choice.
Yummy breakfasts that are hot and fresh. Cinnamon rolls the width of a basketball that can be shared by 4 people.
Had the BLT, it was good, but I was not overly impressed.
Always good food and service.
What a feed! The corned beef for breakfast absolutely blew our minds! It was so damn delicious
The servers do not give a care. Foid was mediocre..not worth the out of my way trip
10 out of 10 would recommend. Since the first time I went I have gone back about five times. The staff is great and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing it can get full but even when they are full the food still comes out at a reasonable time and the food is great. Definitely going back.
Great food, great service, excellent desserts.
My fruit cup wasn't very fresh, and my friends biscuits & gravy wasn't the best. But I must say, the atmosphere is so friendly and uplifting. Service is quick, food is usually great, and the restaurant is kept tidy.
Very good food. Very good service once at the table. Wait was quite long to even get my name on the waiting list. More expensive than I expected.
Wonderful food. Biscuit was delicious
With menu boasting house made breads and buns, I was expecting a great meal. Alas, it was just good. The beerock was on the dry side and chewy side, which was disappointing. Everything else was okay.
Horrible service and food. Maybe it was an "off" day for them. All in all-- disgusted.
The house special French toast style cinnamon roll was amazing
Good food, atmosphere, and of course cookies. I enjoyed the music in the background and the service provided.
They are usually really good and do well with requests and orders. However, I just received my order for tonight and I got one side of ranch when I had 2 meals that included sauces and asked for extra on the side on one of them. I also got the wrong cookie with one of my meals. I will give them the benefit of the doubt but when my husband and I spend $40 its a little bit of a bummer. Still one of our favorites though.
French Dip was DELICIOUS! Biscuits and gravy are the BEST! The Savannah dessert was amazing! First time here...I cannot wait to make it back to Fairbanks just to go here!
Me and a group of 3 others came here for our first time, and we were not disappointed. All of our dishes were meticulously made, with an amazing touch of taste. We had a very country style breakfast; consisting of various combinations of hash browns, bacon, sausages, potatoes, 8" chocolate pancakes, a huge waffle. The only exception was the coffee, I feel bad to give them 4 stars because of coffee. But coffee is the highest priority for me.
First off, it is very busy (at least on Sunday) so make a reservation. There is a reason why it is so busy though. The food is fantastic and homemade. I had corned beef hash and it was fantastic! The corned beef is real and comes in big and small chunks and tastes out of this world. It can be a bit nosy because it's so crowded. Even with the number of people, food got to the table in about half an hour and the menu is extensive. Definately recommend getting breakfast here.
Very good food and staff.
Extra big was awesome.
Great for a cup of coffee and quick bite. Clean, convenient, friendly staff, quick service, outside seating available.
Good lunch and breakfast! Everyone was so nice. They also having amazing home baked cookies and treats!
I have no idea how this place has over 4 stars. The food was gross. The kids burger was dry and the bun was twice the size of the burger. The calzone ... not a calzone and I’m not even saying that as a NYer. It was soggy, cheese wasn’t melted, and tasted almost entirely of spinach. My husband’s burger was ok but like the kids burger doused in mayonnaise. The waitress was bizarre & on another planet the whole time. We watched multiple dishes that were attempted to be delivered to tables they did not belong to and people were very confused. Definitely not going back.
Really neat place. Food was very good. Great selection of food choices. The server was the weak link. Polite, but a bit confused. Would return.
Absolutely amazing food. A homey comfortable atmosphere with friendly staff. My advice? Try the stuffed nolan. You won't regret it.
THE COOKIE JAR is a friendly and warm environment. The device is usually ver good. I would like and have suggested the add back some of the previous menu items especially the Sylvia's salad. I know it was not only mine but others I've talked to favorite plate.
The food was good for Fairbanks. They were very understaffed. The staff that was working needs to multitask. Just because it's your job for the night to seat people does not mean that's all you do. If your tables are taken care of help the servers out. In the big picture all employees will make more because happy and full customers tip more and return often.
The best Roast Beef Philly Cheese Steak Omellet with fresh poteteus! Staff friendy and professional! Thank you!
One of the best restaurants in Fairbanks! Home cooking at its best. The biscuits and gravy are hands down the best I've ever eaten. Adorably quaint and always busy but we didnt haven't wait long for a table.
We usually have a good meal here but today they were a bit off. My paty melt was very dry with not much cheese or onions on it and my wife's bacon mushroom burger was also dry.
Always good. Big servings.
Love the all day breakfast. Sometimes you just need an 8/9pm breakfast.
Good service and food. All day breakfast.
Pretty basic diner options. Food tasted pretty bland. Service was okay; hostess seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Not bad food, but we wouldn’t likely return.
Food was good. Under staffed. Amazing Treats tho!
Great food and service. May have to wait for a table but it's worth it
Service is great and food is even better. Coconut cream pie was to die for..... Nice relaxing atmosphere and my husband said the biscuits and gravy were very good.....
This is the place I look forward to when I get to fairbanks. It is a down home country breakfast restaurant worth trying at least once. I haven't had anything on their menu I didn't like but what I would recommend is trying their corn beef and hash. They slow roast it in their own spices and it is one of my favorites. If you are looking at baked goods they also sell pastries and cinnamon rolls that are huge. One of my favorite breakfast joints.
I got the teriyaki chicken burger and it was way too salty. My other family members got a cob salad, chicken sandwich, and a prime rib sandwich. They liked there’s. I’m giving this place a two because of its salty chicken teriyaki burger.
Good food. Service was friendly, but a little slow.
Great customer service
Delicious food. Waffles took a little bit to make but WORTH THE WAIT! Probably the best waffles I've ever eaten. Food was exactly as instructed and the hearty meal we needed before a long drive. Glad we don't live close because we would come back again and again! Server very friendly.
Always good..my favorite place to go eat
Very good !! Highly recommend..
The best corn beef hash I have ever tasted.
Large portion, tasty food.
Food was pricey, our poor waitress needed more help with 45 of us, but she was great
Fantastic food great portions
Very friendly. The food is great. The cinnamon rolls are huge. Good value
Great restaurant and friendly staff. Wish I could eat there every day.
I really like it here. Very traditional American breakfast and tasty. I had the best country fry steak here! It is very juicy inside and crunchy outside. The portion is large and too large, if you are small eater you can easily share one dish with two. Oh this place is also featured on food network before.
Very good food. Loved the fish taco.
One of the more popular spots in Fairbanks for breakfast, and featured on a popular television show. I decided to try The Cookie Jar while in town for a few weeks. Wonderful, friendly service and large portions. Way too large for me to finish. The country fried steak was decent, but certainly not the best I've had. The wait can be a while at certain times of the morning. Overall a pleasant experience.
Place for a American comfort food. Ambience is comfortable, food is generously served and delicious. We certainly enjoyed this place. The service staff was hospitable and cheerful. Overall a good place for a nice breakfast or lunch.
So good I went back twice! I got bakery items the first time (the cookies were great and only 99¢) and I got brunch the next time. The hot chocolate is also pretty good. I would recommend the cookie jar!
After our restaurant searching fiasco, we ended up at this place. With over 1,000 reviews and most of them fantastic I went ahead and headed there. With the construction in front of all the dealerships it was a bit hard to navigate and find the place, but we were determined and I'm glad we stuck with it! This place is cute, quaint, and just what we were looking for! Affordable home-style made food and delicious dessert! A place you must eat if you are visiting. Thanks Cookie Jar for making my evening better
Were so glad they're open on New Year's day. It's a cute place and you should TRY the CORNED BEEF HASH. I'm very glad i chose that. It is so good.
Looking for an off the beaten path place for breakfast or lunch this is it. A great place with terrific service and delious food!!!
The best restaurant in Fairbanks, hands down! Try the cinnamon rolls and chili omelet!! Best I've ever had.
Good price. Lots of good food. Some things weren't too good like salad and ranch. Finding entrance was hard, could use some signs. Seating was cramped. Waitress was good.
