REVIEWS OF American Civil Liberties Union of Utah IN Utah

Ryan Reed

I interned here last year under the supervision of the ACLU of Utah’s legal counsel - Marina Lowe and Leah Farrell. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend any intern who is interested in non-profit work to seriously consider the ACLU of Utah. What I liked most about the ACLU of Utah is that the internships here provide actual hands on experience in non-profit work. You are not going to waste a semester or two getting coffee or doing other menial tasks. On the contrary, the work here is very serious since many Utahns only have the ACLU to depend on for representation. Lastly, I would like to just mention that the staff here is highly professional. I had various health and personal circumstances I faced outside the workplace that made it difficult to communicate at times. Despite that, both my supervisors, Marina and Leah, were very accommodating and kind. The same was true for the rest of the staff at the ACLU. Hence, on top of great work opportunities, the ACLU is also an excellent work environment. When I was researching places to intern in Salt Lake, I looked at this comment section for reviews from interns. Unfortunately at that time there were none. Therefore, I hope that this review is sufficient for someone who wants to know what being an intern at the ACLU of Utah is like. Yours, Ryan R.
