Awful experience afterwards! I had a significant tax issue and owed a lot. I hired Watkins firm to represent me in 2014. I was charged $10,000 up front and went through three years of red tape, worry, and hell. After the agreement was made with the IRS, I went about my life.
18 months later, the IRS informs me that my latest tax refund was put towards an amount owed from 2005. And then sent a bill for several hundred thousand dollars as if I had never even had a successful Offer In Compromise.
I immediately called the Watkins firm. They told me their computers were down. Really? But that someone would call me back immediately. No one ever did. I called the following week and instead of being able to ask questions, I was told to make an appointment for later in the week. What a waste of my time. The representative I met with in some sort of odd office-sharing office space was familiar with the basics of my case. Before I could ask questions, get advice, or discuss; he informed me that he would give me a great deal on their help. He wanted me to pay another $3,500 just to look into this. Nothing has changed since the OIC was accepted, formalized, and implemented. This was my first tax return and I have not been notiifed of anything from the IRS.
I had expected Watkins to take care of their customer and stand by their work. They were not even interested in doing an inquiry to see what the problem was and offered no solutions.... only pay $3,500 and we can help you.
I was disgusted and walked away. After tens of thousands of dollars, three years of stress, hell, and horrible experiences, I am back to square one without anyone to help me. I suggest that you avoid Travis Watkins firm. You can do a lot of this work on your own or find reputable firms that will help you, stand by their work, and make things right; not just when they want to, but also when they need to.
