I was very disappointed with the lawyers answer : not giving any kind of support or help for me in anyway , with a federal CASE CONCERNING NAVIENT, SALLY MAE, AND ALL. This is a case of FRAUD. I am the victim , not the school . I attempted to attend but was never given the chance to enroll or even get started .. and I am stuck with with the PROMISSORY NOTE, I signed In good faith .I , not having been allowed to attend a school , which kept all the money while denying my education . I was never ever listed as having attended that school . So your legal referral is another disappointment in my school saga: Your lawyer turned me down flat and was no help.

My friend, who is incarcerated, contacted this service for legal assistance and all he received was a rude and unprofessional attitude. He spoke with a female attorney named Julie who refused to answer any of his questions or provide him with any legal assistance. She hung up on him repeatedly without any explanation. My friend is an proud African American male and he believes that his treatment was racial motivated. We will be reporting Julie’s biased conduct to both the Departmental Disciplinary Committee and Commission on Human Rights. Even people in prison deserved to be treated with respect and Julie as an attorney should know that. If Julie or this Service thinks we are uneducated they will soon learn. We will move for her disbarment if necessary. I have seen similar complaints against this same attorney Julie on other review boards, like Yelp, so obviously the Referral Service has no issue with her behavior. We shall see what the authorizes have to say. And this is what our tax dollars are going to support?!

Our counselor at the New York City Bar Legal Referral Service was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and understood the complex (to us) issues we face. The NY Bar Association provides a wonderful service for the public with their Legal Referral Service. I spoke with an attorney, Wilda, who totally understood my problem and who gave me the names of two attorneys who specialize in the area of my concerns. As it was explained to me, these attorneys should then be available for a 30 minute consultation either for free or for $35 for the first 30 minutes. I am extremely pleased that the NY Bar Association and these attorneys provide such an excellent service for the public.

The two gentleman who listened to me and my ex-roommate friend were very courteous and business-like. One man listened while the other lawyer wrote down bits of advice and other pertinent things. I disagree with their advice to ignore my age (70) and my recent heart attack and more recent permanent installation of a defibrillator. I have been under treatment for clinical depression since I turned 18. I spent a week in Bellevue Psych Lock-up in 2004 when they diagnosed me with Bi-Polar Disease. A Federal judge put me on Social Security Disability and I have been taking necessary drugs, such as Lithium, for Bi-Polar disease since then. These two learned gentlemen told me NOT to mention these life events when I responded to my 4 Notices to Cure on why I was such a messy housekeeper, a "public health nuisance." Depressed people sometimes cannot get out of bed they are so weak and overcome with their depression. Takes one to know one. My heart is weak and is functioning at about 70%. These are not important to "my" two Monday Night Lawyers. They are critical to my biography. Once before, lawerly advice prevailed, and THAT judge placed me, an agoraphobic who did not leave my kitchen chair for over a year, THAT judge sent me to Federal Prison for three years. A part of me really resents such a constipated view of life that legals seem to ascribe to. Anyway, I responded to my Landlord as they suggested, and now I have two weeks to Vacate my apartment of 43 years.

I was VERY Disappointed with my experience after coming and sitting down with the 2 attorneys that I sat with. They told me that my Landlord/Management was doing everything correctly by overcharging me and going up on my rent twice after DHCR granted a rent freeze effective: 09/2017 as a result of a inspection prooving evidence that repairs haven't been done and they were outstanding. They also told me that I didn't have a case to sue my landlord for a abatement. After all the organizations I went to and consulted in The New York City Bar legal referral service couldn't help me either they fidnt even refer me to a lawyer that could help me they pretend to help you but don't

I spoke with two attorneys at this organization about a patent issue. The first attorney named Julia or Juliet was frankly clueless as far as anything related to current technology. I don’t expect any attorney who is screening the calls to be a technical expert in any STEM field, but Julia could not even conceptualize the ideas I was describing. Quickly she told me that they did not have an attorney and suggested i speak with her supervisor. Instead, I decided to call back. I spoke with a male attorney named Shiva. I was impressed by how knowledge Shiva was about my field and even the patent process. Although he was not able to give me legal advice or a referral, he helped me understand where I could find the legal help I was looking for. Very disappointing and misleading service. They claim to offer a $35 consultation fee with attorneys for up to the first half an hour but they refuse to refer pro se litigants. Spoke with an attorney referral agent named Julie and she claimed that they did not have attorneys who handled Civil Rights and Constitutional Law? I was then referred to her supervisor but I did not bother to even speak to her because I knew it would be more of the same run around. They only want big money cases. They could careless for rights of regular folks.
