Easy access to a remote feeling area! Fun route finding in a beautiful desert maze of sandstone

One of Arches Park's little known, less traveled magical places. You gotta have a high clearance Jeep or 4 X 4 to get there but it is soooo worth the FUN drive to it. Turn left across from Balanced Rock and go almost 3 miles. Some slow crawling in a couple spots and some deep sand S turns = fun! Park at the sign and hike a short ways to the arch. Go right through the eye and look at it from the back side to see the Whale's eye. Kids loved it. Great exploring all around it. Bring drinks and food. We found a scorpion under a rock and took video. Best part? The park is usually full of tourists....we only saw 5 people here - Us! Come back the way you came. The sandy S turns were a hoot.

The arch is in one of the park's out-of-the-way areas. A high-clearance 4X4 is necessary to access the trailhead for Eye of the Whale. The trail is slightly more than a quarter of a mile to the arch.

wonderful place

Only accessible with 4x4 which makes this a less traveled Arch. Only shade for miles too! Under the Arch is like a wind tunnel which is refreshing in July! I had the area all to myself for over an hour till a tour Jeep with 5 millennial's from California showed up. They took selfies & left in a few minutes.

Peaceful spot away from the crowds with plenty of extra areas to climb and scramble over. Tons of slickrock once you go through the eye and once you do turn around and look, that is the money shot. Visited July 2019 and accessed with a 2wd 2004 Tundra double cab, bone stock. 4wd NOT necessary but decent A/T tires are. There is one steep rutty section with loose rock that took an aggressive pedal to get up. If you make it great, if not then just turn around at the bottom. This road was accessed off of the main arches Rd. directly across from the balanced rock. Then take the next right off of gravel and into dirt.

아치스 국립공원에 있는 경이로운 자연 공간중의 한 곳

It stands there all along, far from the other arches, accessed only by a 4x4 vehicle via a dirt road that looks okay in the beginning but gets worse farther into it. From dirt parking area you will need to hike about half a mile to the arch. That is why we went there. We were the only people there in December and we climbed and looked all over the arch. It was a real treat.

Una giornata indimenticabile.

Very cool Arch, out of the way with no crowds, had the entire area to ourselves. Need 4x4 with high clearance or hike on foot to get there. We drove in a stock 2018 tacoma TRD OR with no issues. Highly recommend.
