After years of contemplating renovating my 1940 historic home in Minnetonka, and meeting with various design an architect groups, I came across David Heide. In less than five minutes I knew my search was over. David knew more about my house than I did. His enthusiasm and love of architecture and design were unlike anyone I have ever met. A bonus is that he is an absolute riot! He speaks his mind and holds firm to what he believes while guiding the restoration in the right direction. The results are beyond what we had imagined! LOVE! Next, a quick wall covering / fantastic area rug makeover for a fun 'music room' in our home. We hired the team at David Heide Design Studio to design our house after coming across some of their beautiful work online. We envisioned building a farmhouse with some modern and Scandinavian influences on our forested 2.5 acre lot. After searching Chicagoland for a creative and outstanding design/architect studio I found David Heide in Minneapolis. We were and are so impressed with his work that we commuted to Minneapolis, and they commuted to us in Lake Forest, IL. Our older home project (Kitchen, small addition, new bathroom, and family room) is nearing completion. From the builder, to the cabinet maker to the other major subs...they have all commented on what an "incredible" project this is. I am so proud of what we (my husband and I) with David, and Brad have created. It exceeds what I hoped for. So much design where we live is predictable, not very creative, and frankly...oversized...for an older home. David Heide, and Brad Belka are masters of restoration, updating, and renovation of older homes and also building from scratch. They understand human scale, materials, practical details, and fine craftspersonship. And, they know that all these elements count in the big picture. While not "cheap", we feel their services are a bargain when I think of what we might have ended up with without their guidance. Check out their portfolio...pictures are worth 1000 words.
