If we could give more than 5 stars, we would. By means of background, we have had the great pleasure of working with George Dumitru on three separate housing projects in Fairfield County, CT. Each of our projects was different, one a complete tear down, the second a total renovation and the third a substantial remodeling. George is AMAZING. On each project, he provided an unparalleled level of expertise in his craft, service as a professional, and partnership in the overall project. First, George is an outstanding architect. Having deep experience in projects large and small for decades, he has “seen-it-all.” In addition to his previous work, George’s creativity is matched by his discipline and his ability to offer suggestions perfected by his exemplary listening skills. Second, George provides truly incredible service. From answering the most self-evident question patiently, to prompt responses to late-night or weekend calls, George is almost always immediately accessible and cheerful. He helped us build the right team from the outset and manage the challenges that inevitably occur during this process. You can't always trust first impressions but with George, what you see is what you get. We first met George when he offered to come spend an hour or so with us when we were looking for a new home to "down-size" into, were given his name as we were looking at the property and, on incredibly short notice, agreed to come meet with us on site. He graciously provided some great insight but we did not get to do anything further as we lost the bid on the house. George was a true gentlemen and told us he would not charge us as he only would feel comfortable doing that if we ended up working with him. Roll forward 3-4 years later and we finally did find a new house to buy - actually a very old house - that we wanted to broth keep intact for its historical significance but also make it practical to live in. To make a long story short, George was incredibly respectful of our desires and he himself appreciated our desire not to mess with the original mid-1800s house that had significant historical significance. He was able to create a design that allowed us the best of both worlds with a finished product that looked as though the whole thing had been in place since the mid-1800s. Throughout it all, George was charming, responsive and a pleasure to work with. Happy to provide recommendations if you are thinking of using his services.
