I would have liked to have given a higher rating. The wine was excellent, the owners very personable but the young woman behind the bar with long brown hair was very unprofessional. My husband had to pull me aside and tell me how uncomfortable her flirting with him and staring at him was making not only him but my in-laws as well...I was off to the side with our children. But once he brought my attention to it, I saw for myself that she couldn't keep her eyes off of my spouse. She even came over and interacted with my son in order to throw a few batted eyes and giggles at my husband...in front of me--lol. If it were not so uncomfortable for us as a family, I would call it funny. But ultimately, in truth, it was rather disrespectful to me at least and tainted the overall experience. Please talk to this girl about hitting on customers! Especially the married ones.

We stopped here as we were ambling through the countryside and hit a real gem. Bob the owner is a very interesting fellow who takes his wine making seriously. The wines are very good and reasonably priced. If you want an unpretentious winery that focuses on affordable quality, Desert Rose is for you. There's lots of backstory that can make this a most entertaining stop.... if you catch Bob at the right time.

The wine was very good here. The story the staff tells with the wine is even better. The family named the wines to correspond with their life story and it gets told through the wine tasting. The explain all of the really, and often rare foreign currency one display at the bar. Definitely recommend.

Awesome experience! You have to ask the staff about the history of the owner and how the winery came to be. Staff was sincerely friendly and were not pushy or stuffy. The environment was family friendly and fun to boot. The wine was very good, though I have a preference to the chambourcin and their reds.

The staff was great, especially Amy; nice, warm and welcoming on a rainy day. We chatted quite a bite with her as we went through the tasting. The wines were pretty good (for VA wines), and we ended up bringing some. Looking forward to go back and try on a warmer day.

Had a great time at the Wild West Festival. Beautiful place up near Front Royal. The staff was great, the wine was good-even though they were sold out of Norton, the music was awesome -Ryan Jewel, the 2 step lessons were fun.

They have great owners who seem to always be around. That is tough on them but makes it pleasant for visitors. We belong to their posse and live 45 minutes away and it is worth the trip. Their wines are very good.

This is what I was looking for. I have been burnt out of the "big" wineries in the area. This unassuming quaint spot is exactly what I was looking for. My girlfriend and I were greeted with smile, warm embrace and intellectual run down of what wine they had to offer. Also loved that I could bring my Lab in with me while I got to enjoy this amazing spot. Really enjoyed how the vibe was very relaxed and not overly crowded and cramped. The tasting room has a desert/southwest theme which made for an awesome atmosphere. The wine was every bit as good as the experience. We both had a glass of the Chambourcin and left with several bottles. I will definitely be returning as long as these doors are open. Keep up the great work!

This was pleasant surprise to find while on a random road trip. My wife and I did a four wine tasting; she tasted the white/sweet wines and I tasted the dry reds. We both liked all the wines we tried. Ended up buying a couple of bottles. The owners were great hosts and some of the other guests were friendly to a couple of out of towners. Highly recommend this winery.

This is a great winery. We really like the fact that they have a Chamborcin and a Norton. This is a different winery. Very colorful stories. They have a good variety of whites and reds along with two desert wines.

I totally loved the drive to this location and The friendly motorcycle parking! The wines were food, the location terrific and the the staff was friendly. They have a terrific line up of visiting musicians which makes me look forward to a beautiful drive and a Friday fun night!

Carmen was so much fun (from New Orleans)!!! Enjoyed the tasting — I would give it a B+ overall — nothing bad on the classic 8 bottle tasting. Loved the port!!! Laid back and relaxed environment . Rustic decor — nice out door porch. Decent savory options as pairings for your wine. Yes, we will return!

I stopped by here on a winery tour from Shendoah National Park. Bob and the rest of the staff are great. I'm not much of a wine guy but i really enjoyed everything I tried. The tasting room has a Texas/saloon aesthetic that I loved. A lot of interesting historical artifacts throughout the tasting room too. I will definitely stop by next time I'm in Virginia
