If I could give this place zero stars I would. Dr. Krystal Mincey is the worst and most unprofessional doctor I have ever met. How she got through vet school amazes me. I could hear everything through the walls of this building and I heard her talking about how rude my mother was and how she didn't want to treat her animal, little does she know I wouldn't let her touch my animal even if she was the last vet in the world. This "vet" is money hungry and not a genuine person. She is ruining the reputation of this clinic that I've gone to for many years. I'm not going to ever step foot in this hospital again and I will suggest to everyone I know not to either. It is because of her that myself and my family will not be coming to this practice any longer because of how much she belittled us. I would seriously evaluate her in regards to her social interactions with the public. Especially in regards to the pets of many families.

This is in reference to a review posted by Cari Armel, I could not disagree with her more. I have been a client with this establishment for 40 years and have always received excellent care and service for my pets by all vets, especially Dr. Mincey. Dr. Krystal Mincey, is very thorough and is always kind and patient with my animals; even the one that does not like going to the vet and is somewhat nasty. Any other vet would probably refuse to see her but not Dr. Mincey, always there when I need her. They are often booked but she always works me in when I need her and even goes as far as calling and checking on my animals on her own time....ie when she is not working. She also takes care of my daughters animals and other family members in this area, and have recommended her to all of my friends. And for this individual to say she is money hungry is appalling.....she does not set the fees she is only doing her job. And then to say she is mean, she is the kindest and most caring young lady I have ever met. I'm not her Mom but those words are harsh and hurtful and for anyone reading this I assure you that that is not a good description of my vet. My daughter is a nurse and heath care is expensive. I know this first hand so please don't take your frustrations out on those who are trying to help; especially a young lady that often stays after hour and goes above and beyond for our communities animals. And then to say you don't know how she got through vet school.....educate yourself and see how hard it is to even get into Veterinary School.....you have to be very intelligent and at the top of your game and Dr. Mincey, even as a young vet displays all the necessary characteristic. One last thing, as for the reputation of Shenandoah Veterinary Hospital, in my opinion, Dr. Krystal Mincey is an asset to the practice.

Scheduled an appointment for 5:00 and our cat, who is stressed and people shy, wasn't helped until 6:00. They do a good job with pricing but don't use their time efficiently whatsoever and it was aggravating to have to wait an hour. Really need to improve that area.

We rescued a dog that supposedly had been vaccinated against rabies at this hospital, but after 1 month and 3 calls from me, 3 calls from our veterinarians, and 1 call from the dog's prospective adopter....we still have not received anything in writing (rabies certificate). At this point...we are concerned that there must be some reason that they will not release the paperwork....though it has been promised to us repeatedly and ok'd by the previous owner (who we were told works there). Perhaps a complaint to the WV veterinary board of licensing will uncover what is really going on at this place.

As new dog owners, we had lots of questions and from our first phone call to our latest appointment, the vets and staff at Shenandoah Veterinary have been fantastic at "holding our hands" as we've welcomed the new addition to our family. They have been extremely caring to our puppy and knowledgeable about providing what he needs. The office is clean and modern and the staff is friendly and helpful. The cost of care has been less than I expected, which has been a great bonus!

I wasn't going to write a review but the more I think about it , the more it gets under my skin . I took a 16 week old kitten I found on the side of the road that just got hit by a car. I dropped him off then headed to work. I picked him up at 4:30 and they advised me the kitten was doing good and did not see anything wrong . I took the kitten to my car wrapped in a towel . Once he sat on my seat and climbed out of the towel I noticed a huge cut on the back leg. I marched right back in and said there is something wrong . They looked at me like I was crazy, but took him back and shaved his leg . Long and behold his whole back leg was skinned, like how you skin a deer !!! I payed 60.00 for a exam and your telling me you didn't notice this all day! And I found it in 2 minutes !!! Broke my heart that he suffered with this injury all day because they didn't check him right ! I bought antibiotics and pain meds , and they didn't even offer a discount ! I think it was heartless that they didn't take care of him like they should !!!! Hopefully he has no more issues , but I will not be taking him back there !

My little dog was sick and my regular vet was booked, I called them and they were able to make me an appointment for just a few hours later. I got there and the place was clean the staff was friendly and my wait was relatively short. Dr. Sears was knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed my dog, decided it wasn't too serious but gave the dog a shot and some pills for her her problem and also a probiotic. The doctor also gave me some probiotic pills for my other two dogs since they'd had a very mild issues similar to my little girl's current problem.

We've dealt with many vets over the years with an array of canine children. And that's exactly what they are...your children for which you want only the best. You'd like to think you're taking your pet to someone who cares as much for your pet as you do. Now, of course, that's a lot to ask for but I can honestly say that Dr. Krystal Mincey cares for our guys almost as much as we do, which is frankly, astounding. She's straight forward and honest and her compassion knows no bounds...she calls to follow-up just to see how your pet is doing and works with you the best she possibly can. Our dogs run to her every time we visit...now, THAT says a lot! I highly recommend SVH...the entire staff, from front to back are genuinely friendly, understanding and most of all, caring.

I just want to say that these people are very caring and professional at the same time. I have been taking my pets there for years. I had a kitten show up on my door one day when I came home from work at 3:30 pm and I did not want to bring it in my house around my other cats he had been checked out. I called Shenandoah Vet Hospital and explained my situation to them, within 20 minutes my kitten was being seen by a Vet. They have always been helpful and very persistent in taking wonderful care of my furry family. You will not find more caring people anywhere.

I am baffled by the bad reviews this place received. I went based on the good reviews and had a great experience. They were very professional and the place was very clean. Everyone was sweet to my dog. I watched them interact with half a dozen other pets while I was there and they were just as sweet to everyone else's pets too. The vet was too the point, helped me understand my pups problem and gave me great suggestions I could do just to increase my pups comfort while he was on his medication. Didn't use scare tactics to push other treatments that were unnecessary at this time like a different local vet did. They charged a bit more for the meds than I would have expected, but not too bad. Overall a good experience.

Uneducated and inept! First and foremost the worst customer service I have ever seen in a veterinary hospital!! The girls at the front desk are completely uneducated about the field they work in and and definitely the most unprofessional staff I’ve seen! They are not organized and they take no customer/ client as a priority. Each and every time you come into the place you are greeted then a so called tech comes to greet you that barely will look at you in the face when you talk and when they do finally look at you they stare blankly as if they didn’t hear a word you said or understood what was going on or why you were even there! Not only do the techs and front desk have no knowledge of the profession but worst, is that the young Dr. staff also seems out of the loop. So much so, that when I would ask technical questions she looked at me like she was intimidated by me and my questions and the knowledge I had behind my questions. As a pet owner it is very disheartening to have an insecure veterinarian and even more so insecure staff behind them. When going to a vets office you want the comfortability that they are telling you educated and researched information, not just giving you an answer just to shut you up. I have worked in the field and worked in many different types of hospitals, but I have never seen something as terrible as this place! Unfortunately for my dog I had to find out the hard way that this hospital and it’s staffing we’re not up to the standards I have for my family. It is not the place everybody thinks it is.

We have been bringing our pets to SVH for over 8 years. Had I put in a review last week Thursday, it would of been very different. Friday we had to bring our 7yr old great dane in, unfortunately to be put to sleep. We piled into two cars, not only were us 5 humans going.. but we brought our Newf as well. Everyone wanted.. needed to be there with him at the end. Our dane *loved* his family. Not so much strangers. Usually we muzzle him when we bring him in. Today, carried in on a stretcher because he couldn't walk. We didn't. My husband held his head on the way in. A very kind assistant came in and explained what would be happening. We discussed muzzling him during this, and we all, her included, agreed that we did not want that extra stress on him in his final minutes. We had been through this before, but our children had never been there, so it was nice that she walked us through the process. She left us to spend some time with him. A little bit later she arrived with the vet, whose name I can't remember. She explains that the medication that they are going to be giving him is very painful. That it will burn and cause our dog extreme discomfort & that she recommends we have an IV put in to sedate him before hand. The look in my childrens eyes as they listen to this woman tell them that there puppy is going to go out, not peacefully asleep as I had told them.. as our previous dog had.. but in excruciating pain. I was angry. I told her that this was hard and expensive enough, we didn't need to triple our cost. She responded that it wouldn't triple it, the medication was going to be very painful and she recommends... I stopped her and told her to give him the medication, we would hold him down if necessary. Which, by the way, is a horrible thing to have to say, let alone in front of your children. We will never return to SVH every again. We will never recommend them to anyone. We will tell our story about the blonde, female vet we had to audacity to try to upsell us during out dogs dying moments. Before anyone gripes to me about.. anything.. our dane didn't seem to be in any pain, thankfully. Our bill for putting him down? $620. For a communal cremation. I highly recommend that you go through your staff and perhaps initiate some classes on compassion. There is absolutely no excuse for your behavior.

Very disappointed with this place. My dog was stung by a bee today & had a reaction. We rushed her to Shenandoah, as this is her usual vets office. We were told that they were closing soon & not a minute could be spared for a Vet to even look at her. They then said we should take her to Hagerstown Vet Hospital. Luckily she seems better, but if this had been a more serious reaction she wouldn’t have made it all the way to Hagerstown. Unbelievable considering all the money we have spent here & these people are supposed to care about animals.

This, in my opinion, is the best, ore advanced pet hospital in the area. When my 2 dogs had to be put down last October, they were very humane and compassionate, both for us and the dogs. Their use of laser surgery is outstanding. They dug hair follicles growing in the eye and third eyelid of a long haired cat when other vet clinics told me I would have to go to a specvialist. I do think they are pricey but I can count of the right diagnosis and getting the job done. I really hate seeing the needle disposal fee. I believe they should absorb that cost or build it into the price of the injection.

My family has been going to this Veterinary Hospital for years and our recent experience has changed that permanently. This may seem long but I feel it needs told. On Friday 9-21 I took in my 3 year old cat as she was extremely ill. We suspected that she ate something she shouldn’t and that was causing the issues. We requested an X-ray and were completely shocked when the Vet said “There is no blockage and nothing irregular on the exam.” That is without showing me the exam I believed the Vet and we went further to complete blood work as I requested we take it a step at a time. The blood work came back pretty normal other than dehydration from being sick. So now we are done 2 test and all that was recommended is that I take her 24 hour care (which I did that evening) - I provided the emergency Vet the exam and X-ray copy from Shenandoah and they reviewed and stated they saw the blockage immediately!!! Even offered a courtesy X-ray since we’ve already did one and again the blockage was there and terrible- she showed us and you could CLEARLY see it. Now our poor cat was put to sleep Friday and most likely we’d be in the same situation regardless- but NEVER have I seen a office so concerned with money before the animals! The emergency vet wasn’t even close to being that way and I would recommend them 100% over this place. The Vet on Friday at Shenandoah even said “It seems money may be an issue?” We’ve been in multiple times during the last weekend for our Cat and money wasn’t the issue- the care was! I called today to make things right, and still the Vet advised she didn’t see anything and showed little to no compassion. It’s absolutely disgusting to me and my animals will never be in their care again!

Took 2 cats in to have fixed. Told them they were feral cats that they would be hard to catch. They used nylon stiches instead of the glue which we had several other cats done at the shelter. Shenandoah told us to bring the cats back in two weeks to have stiches out. Needless to say the cats were feral and we can't catch them. Several bad experiences with other cats. Overpriced

Be careful in dealing with this business. They are ripping people off on medication they prescribe for you pet. Want a good example. Zeniquin, 14 tablets,50mg.$ 76.00 . Pet Meds 250 tablets 50mg.$ 4.85. I knew my puppy had and infected ear and when i turned down the $220.00 culture test they wanted to do, guess they got the money through over charging for meds.

Our dog " Buddy", which is a dachshund had an injury to his back a few years ago. This particular morning, we woke up and he couldn't walk. We made a appointment and headed to the vet. Dr. Krystal explained to us the option that we could take. Dr. Krystal listen to our concerns, and we came up with a plan together to help Buddy. This was a hard few weeks for us, but the session of laser treatment as well as limiting his ability to jump off the sofa, and run up and down stairs was great. I know when were a bunch of overprotected parents, but Dr. Krystal was with us every step of the way going above, and beyond the call of duty. We appreciate the positive attitude, words of encouragement, and understanding. She truly loves the animals that she enacts with, and treats everyone like family. This is not a trait that is learned in veterinary school, but someone that is born with compassion in there heart. It's truly a blessing to have such a wonderful young woman as a vet at the Shenandoah Veterinary Hospital. The staff is absolutely wonderful as well. Buddy is back to his normal self, and I thank Dr. Krystal and staff for the wonderful job that they had done to help him.

I am new to the area and recently decided to take in a stray cat before the weather gets cold. I don't know any vets in the area, so I found this one strictly based off of its reviews online. I have to say, the reviews didn't lie! I am very happy with my choice in veterinary hospital, and I will be returning again. The vet tech that worked with us was very friendly and you could tell she really loves animals. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable and didn't seem like they she was just trying to sell me a product to get money out of me. I would definitely recommend bringing your pet here!

I went there and (after $356 dollars) my dog was diagnosed with Whipworms. The Doctor did an anal probe, and left the fecal sample on the examination table, EXPOSED. We sat in the examination room for almost a half hour, along with the pile of dog poop he left behind. The front desk lied to us, stating that we could only find the medication there. We found it, for $9.64 (more than half the price) on a popular website for animals. The staff was friendly, but I WILL NOT GO BACK there.

Took over one hour to answer the phone and then refused treatment. Drove to Hagerstown Emergency clinic during daytime hours. This was not the way to generate good will.

Do not take your pets to this clinic!! When I called to ask for a prescription for a heart worm med that my dog was given by them when first seen there in Jan 19, I was told she needed a heart worm test?? CHEWY and PET MEDS charge far less for medications than this all about the money practice! WHY is my dog prescribed a med for heart worms when they have not tested, yet are selling me the medication at an exorbitant price?? I will not pay THEIR inflated prices nor tolerate their unprofessionalism. I was told by staff they do not trust Chewy's medications which I reported to them. Their staff was RUDE trying to justify their incompetence and greed!! To make matters worse, I recently took my dog there for allergies and was told she had a heart murmur which they had NOT diagnosed before?!! No explanation was given on the type nor severity of this condition!! I asked that they send my pet's records to me and Julie, who by the way cannot spell wrote untruths in the notes which mean nothing as this practice will NOT get the opportunity to care for my beloved Xena! ALL about the profit NOT the pet!!!!

This place is great! Extremely clean, always friendly, the vet is incredibly knowledgable and nice! I was able to schedule a late appointment on a week night, which is perfect because I commute from Winchester. They stayed open late during my first visit so they could to answer all my questions and throughly examine my kitten. I didn't feel rushed out, which I really appreciate! They scheduled all my follow ups in advanced and made sure my kitten received all her booster shots and vaccines. I had my kitten's spayed with them. The drop off and pick up with smoothly. They followed up with a mid-day phone call. My kitten's incision healed perfectly, which I have never experience with my past pet. I highly recommend taking your pets to this location!

Great Vets and I've always been seen at or before my scheduled appointment time. Waiting room is clean with ample room. Online records are a nice feature as well.
