REVIEWS OF Snow College IN Utah

John Wells

The staff did not care about me but about their own "business"

Tyson Dye

Loved my time at Snow College. Amazing teachers, interested in their students learning experience. Love the small town feeling and environment here.

Alison Yardley

Best college! I loved my time at snow and highly recommend it to anyone! Small classes, incredible professors, overall fantastic experience.

Colton Kilmer

Know lots of people who loved their experience here. Have only heard great things about it.

Rickey Jewkes

Best educational experience I’ve had! It’s a quality education where you can finish your generals for a fraction of the cost that other universities charge. Plus Ephraim has the lowest student housing costs in Utah, so you really do save a lot by going here. Plus, this campus is beautiful and quaint, with really helpful professors and administrators dedicated to helping you succeed. Being in a small town is a challenge for a lot of people from big cities, but at least from my prospective, it helped me study better since there were fewer distractions. The student body is overall very good and friendly, more-so here than other universities and colleges in the state due to its smaller enrollment size (about 4,000 when compared to tens of thousands elsewhere). So you’re likely to make close friends here, get better grades, and transfer to a larger school with the possibility of getting great transfer scholarships! This really is the best junior college in the country! I’d recommend at least everyone to look into it.

Nothing to do here at all! Dorms are tiny, and this college is really over hyped... I went to a snow blast and they made this college seem cooler than it actually is. The only way to have fun is to have a large group of friends who will hang out with you daily. Other wise you’re stuck in your “jail sized” bedroom if you don’t want to go to the library. I found it really hard to make friends and I felt like they didn’t give you enough time to make any at all. The badger den had mediocre food and they don’t advertise a lot of the activities on campus ever... Choosing a roommate is practically impossible and I didn’t have a great way of communicating with them at all. And don’t get me started on the administration...

The only reason for the 2 stars is because the professors are AMAZING to work with, especially if you have mental and or physical illnesses to deal with. If it wasn't for them, I'd give the college 0 stars if possible just because of all the issues. 1. The administration office is a joke. Even if you cancel the automatic payments they will still keep trying to withdraw money from your account. Its cleat they don't care about you they just want their money. And good luck trying to communicate with them to set up some sort of payment plan. You have to call at least 5+ times to reach the person you are trying to talk to only to be placed on hold or be told that the person you need to talk to is unavailable. If you leave a message do NOT expect to be called back. If you send an email, don't expect a response unless YOU are extremely lucky. 2. Finding jobs is next to impossible if you do not have a car. If there's a job available during the school year that's IN TOWN there is at least 20+ applicants for that job. 3. Housing. 99% of the housing is as expensive as a semester of college if not more. If you have an ESA (Emotional Support Animal) that has been prescribed by a licensed physician, you are required to have a private room but you also have to pay for the extra cost (which usually ranges between $200-$500 a semester). The rules for the housing is also ridiculous! No boys over night, no drinking (even if you are over 21)/no alcohol (including cooking wine). Also, If you live on campus and you and/or your roommates set the smoke alarm off more than 2-3 times a semester (even if you are just cooking bacon or you burn the rice) EACH roommate is fined a certain amount each time. And if you do it often enough they can expel you from the school!

Snow College is a fantastic way to start college. Its small size is perfect because you get a lot of one-on-one time with professors. You also know that your professors care and they go out of their way to be helpful and make it the best experience possible.

Great great great it's a good place for education and the cost is very cheap. But the education isn't. I learned a lot and it's paid off snow college is a great place for LDS people that couldn't get into BYU.

Dorms are very nice, music program is amazing. You could even transfer to Julliard if you wanted to.

I have been at Snow College for less than a semester, so I may not be totally qualified to give it an accurate rating. Most of this will be purely my own opinion. The classes at Snow I would give 5 stars. I mostly had psychology and education classes, and math. The teachers were great, the pacing was manageable. I didn't take any science classes. I can't speak for people who aren't psychology or education majors. The math program here is great though. They have math tutors available to help you for free until like 7:00 every day. Cost-wise, this college is a steal. Super affordable housing. If you did pretty well in high school and got a pretty good ACT score you will most likely get an academic scholarship, but even if you don't, tuition is lower than any other in the state. The advisors and offices I would give 3 or 4 stars, depending on the day and who is helping you. The student success office can be helpful if you're very persistent and are willing to wait a while to see someone. Make sure you know exactly what you need from them or they seem a little bit confused as to why you're there. Financial offices are similar. The campus is nice, with pretty trees. It's very small. You will know all the buildings very quickly. The library is a lovely place to study and get food (ice cream). The cafeteria is pretty good, but a little pricey if you don't have "badger bucks." (I'll talk about badger bucks in the paragraph about housing.) The town and the culture is where I really subtracted stars. This is purely because of my personality. If you don't like super small towns, do not go here. Run. Run away as fast as you can. This town is SMALL. You don't realize how small it is until you live here. There are probably 7 restaurants tops, including a McDonald's and Little Cesar's. There is a Wal-Mart, and it closes at midnight. The student body is super nice and you can make tons of friends if that's your goal. It's 2/3 girls so yeah everyone is super nice. Little tough to find guys to date if that's what you want, especially if you're not into "country guys." A lot of people here own loud trucks. There's some football players. A lot of people are the type that talk slightly too loud. I'm sure if you look hard enough there's friends here for every type of person. It feels pretty similar to high school here, to tell you the truth. The LDS wards are inviting and want you to get involved in the ward. Even if you're not LDS they have a lot of activities which is nice since there's not a lot to do in Ephraim. I live on-campus, which has its pros and cons. Pricing is similar to off-campusz. Off-campus is usually just as far away as on-campus, because Ephraim is so freakin small. On-campus is more strict with more rules, but the Resident Assistants are super helpful if you ever have a problem. There's lots of people around, ALL the time, so if you don't like that, I would not recommend on-campus housing. The on-campus housing makes you buy "badger bucks," which is money you put on your student ID card at the same time you pay for rent. Depending on where you live on-campus, they could make you pay $200 of badger bucks or $900. The money goes into an account that can only be spent at places on-campus, like the cafeteria or the bookstore. It's convenient to pay with the student ID card and not have to worry about cash when buying things on-campus, but still kind of annoying to not have all your expenses come from the same place. You get all your unused Badger Bucks back, but I'm not sure when. If you loved high school and you love people and small towns, you will love Snow College.

The ropes course at the Snow College SnowFun Youth Conferences was awesome! Great way to build confidence and have fun at the same time.

Nathan Whittington

Its a good place to start higher education, although the town is small and there isn't a lot of good jobs to work part time and the dorms are a little bit on the old side.

I've heard many good things about this school and I'm quite excited to attend here to get my associates degree. This is also a very cheap school and probably the best two year school I've heard about.

I can't say enough about my experience at Snollege. I had great experiences with all of my professors and made so many friends. The atmosphere at Snow is like nowhere else. Ephraim is essentially run by college kids. It's a little town, but the school and LDS wards always has awesome activities and things to do. I never hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I will always look back at my time at Snow as "the good ol' days." That being said, you get out what you put in. People have bad experiences when they don't get out of their apt or dorm to get involved in anything. If you can't handle the small town Utah feel, then it probably isn't for you. To sum it up-- Don't be a nerd or weirdo who does nothing but stay in your room or the library all day and you'll have a great time.

Snow College proudly states that they are the best two year school in the nation. I think this must be purely the opinion of whoever is in charge of marketing, because nothing could be farther from the truth. While the teachers are good and the tuition is cheap, the fact of the matter is that the administration is bad enough to completely bury that. They are incredibly difficult to work with and make life absolutely miserable with all their rules and bureaucratic problems. No one listens when you have an issue, they make stupid mistakes on a regular basis, and it ends up costing the students. I would never in a million years recommend this school to anyone!

The teacher are good and everything but resident life has been harrasing accommodation students, independent students and LBGT students more and more. My sister is trans and they wouldn't work with her to get her own room until she went above their heads. They have harrased her since and now they are kicking her out. They also want her to pay alk spring even though she didn't sign up for a full year contract. She is also an independent Student with accommodations. They wrote me up for talking incmy sleep and never looked into claims by the other students. They told one of my guy friends he wasnt aloud to visit on campus students at all when he did nothing wrong. They called the cops when he came to pick me up, saying he had a no trespassing order and wasn't a student. When the cops looked it up they said both accusations were untrue and left. The next week I was called in and forced to sign a paper saying he couldn't be in any res life building I livee in, I was not aloud to talk in my sleep and I was not aloud to have a mental breakdown even though I have several mental disorders that cause it to be uncontrollable fir me.(there was even more theb that.) I was put in a room for an entire semester with a roommate whi physically and mentally abused me! They never even called her to the office! There is drug use on campus all the time. They don't do anything to those kids.

I spent a semester here and it's excellent for a certain type of people. If you plan on attending BYU afterward, this would be a good start. I'm a city girl, so it was a culture shock to say the least, but not a horrible experience. It's best for people who are social. You are probably more forced to be more than usual because of it's location and small population. It's a little hard to fit in when you're not LDS or inactive. I went for personalized attention with smaller classes. I did get smaller classes, but I do not feel like I received personal attention for almost all of it. Because of the more tight-knit atmosphere, I felt like I was in high school again. If you didn't fit the goody-two shoes standard, it was kind of hard to feel accepted. School staff was very nice though and welcoming. However, felt like a safer environment to live in. Professors... well I guess that's up to personal interpretation. Lots of events on campus to do and quality courses which I think had a great variety for the size of the campus. You can save a lot of money with cheaper housing and no need for a car unless you need to go to the 9-9 Walmart. Not a lot of jobs however in the town period. I wouldn't return personally, I guess I would enjoy a big campus more, but I don't regret my experience. Oh yeah, water tastes really good.

This is a review for the registrars office. There's some poor quality service going on there. I remember when i was a student there 2 weeks before school started I had an error on my schedule i was trying to correct. I wasn't trying to blame anyone for the mistake, i presented the issue as respectfully as i could. The lady there that day said "well this is why you should have been responsible and come in to fix this". I was like excuse me, first i'm an adult not a child, second i'm coming into your office 2 weeks prior to resolve the issue. I am trying to be an adult. Secondly, i'm trying to request my transcripts from this school and it is not a friendly process. USU and SLCC has made it simple. I can log in, input some info, and i'm in. Snow College makes it slightly more inconvenient. I called and left a message last week i believe and no one has gotten back in touch with me yet. I left my number in the voicemail. Great teachers when i went there. I really appreciated the teachers there. The registrars office needs improvement.

Student body, teachers, everything, are all fantastic. However, administration is the WORST group of people I've ever had to deal with. Last fall, they informed me the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK that they had "lost" my payment tuition. Instead of helping me and find out where the money went, they instead decided to suspend me and take another $3000 of my money, which I'm STILL needing to pay back. Back in April, they emailed me saying they had "lost" my money AGAIN and GOT THEIR LAW FIRM involved. I had to explain to the law firm and Nelnet that I had indeed been paying, providing bank statements and withdrawals from my bank account to Snow, and I'm STILL getting emails from them that something has gone wrong. It's borderline impossible to get a hold of someone in admissions, whether it be in person or over the phone, and the only success I've ever had is via emailing the specific person.

Beautiful campus! The professor are amazing and truly care. I am on my third semester and I made the right choice when I decided to go to Snow College. The professor and other staff truly want you to succeed. They offer countless school activities like concerts, plays, and gatherings with free food. Many say there is not a lot to do which means they are just not looking because along with doing homework and going to school activities I have no free time. It’s all about attitude, if you have a good one you will love Snow College just like I do.

Great school. I'm going here for the music program, which is the best thing they offer at Snow.

I've attended 5 different colleges to complete the necessary requirements for my 3 degrees. I received my Associates from Snow College. I initially planned on attending UVU but missed several deadlines causing me to fallback on Snow for my 1st year. I had a great year but transferred to UVU for my 2nd year. UVU only accepted 2 of my Snow credits. I hated UVU both academically & socially. I transfered back to Snow for the 3rd year & finally graduated. To complete my two Bachelor's degrees, I attended SUU, USU, & WGU after receiving my AS degree. Most schools will accept credits from Snow as long as they're packaged together in an associates degree. Other colleges may not accept individual credits from Snow despite the textbook & course material being similar. Snow is the best, in my opinion, junior college in Utah. If you need to live in a city & have access to everything, Snow isn't for you. It's a small town & if you need something that can't be found at Walmart, then you'll have to travel or have it sent to you. It's a fun school. The athletics, arts, science, & business departments were all good & very educational without trying to fry my brain. I didn't live in the dorms but wouldn't want to. Overall, I highly recommend Snow College.

CrNessata

This is an awesome school. I went to Snow right out of high school. The transition was so easy through their welcoming program for students. They have a lot of wholesome (but fun) extracurricular activities planned all the time, the cafeteria food is good, the campus is well-kept, the students are one-of-a-kind, and, most importantly, the teachers are amazing! I don't know where they find them, but I was studying criminal justice and my teachers had SO much rich, unique experience in the field. It sounds really cheesy, but I was truly honored to learn from them. Recently, I had to transfer my credits. There was an issue (completely due to my negligence) that resulted in a large fee on my account. I asked if there was anything I could do, and they ended up helping me get the issue resolved. They went above and beyond what I was asking. I really appreciated it.

Jesse Man

Boring town. The registrars office is a joke. The only reason you’d go here is to save money.

Jeff A

I could not recommend this school. When I was there bullies who were athletes were allowed to terrorize the school.

Jennie Messervy

My review is based on the administration only, not the teachers. The administration is extremely difficult to work with. If a student has any type of illness or issue, you are just out of luck. They don't care about the students and are all about the bureaucracy.

I spent two years at Snow College and got an Associates Degree. I feel that it is a great place to start college and that I did get a good education for the price. Also, student life is a ton of fun considering there is not of ton of things to do in the small town. Football and basketball games were one of the highlights of my time in Ephraim. The only downside of this college is that when I transferred to a 4-year institution, only half of my Snow credits went towards a Bachelor's degree. The other credits did transfer, but they are useless credits that don't go towards anything. It almost makes me feel that I wasted a year of schooling. That is definitely something to consider when attending this 2-year college. Depending on your major, you could take electives at Snow that would go towards higher education but you would have to plan ahead.
