I bought 4 sets of winter tires and had them installed on my car. The big tall guy at the front desk told me it would be 4 hours to get them installed. I told him I would wait. After 4 hours I asked him if my car is done. He said they are still working on my car. I looked outside to check my car and they are just pulling it in the hanger bay. That's the first and last time I have been to this place. The customer service really stinks!

I've visited American tire 3 times - and every time I've been extremely impressed with their honesty, as well as their service. The first 2 times I had a flat tire, and they patched it without trying to sell me a new tire. Finally, after owning my car for 2 years (and buying from a shady seller) I figured I needed new tires, so I went in to get new ones put on (for about $700), but after checking my car, the worker (Anthony) came in and told me my tires looked excellent and I didn't need new ones, then sent me away at no charge. They could've easily made BANK off of me by now, but they've been up-front and honest about everything. I'm extremely impressed, and I'd recommend them to anyone.

I was recommended to use American Tire by some friends from work, I am totally glad they did. I requested an online quote for the service I wanted performed and received a phone call shortly afterwards asking some more questions. I then received a quote which I reviewed and did some research on to make sure it was fairly priced, which it was! When I went in that same day to actually talk to the technician in person, he went over the pricing in more depth and showed me the products I had chosen. He then sent me home because he wanted me to "think about it" since I was going to be spending a lot of money. I really liked that, since he was not pressuring me into the sale. I went back in the next day to put my deposit down since they had to order a couple of things. It then took a couple weeks for the parts to get in. Once all the work was done I was extremely satisfied. The lift, new wheels & new tires on my Jeep looked great! I have been driving it for about a week now & I am 100% satisfied. A special thanks to Kevin at that shop, he did a great job from the first phone call to the point when I picked my baby up!

So I guess a tire shop will not mount and balance brand new wheels and tires. That’s the first I’ve ever heard of that in this planet. Kevin there was extremely rude about it over the phone. He could of politely explained the process that they do but instead said I’m not mounting wheels and tires that were bought from the internet. Even though I’m pretty sure they order wheels and tires off the internet. I will be sure to tell everyone about there so called process. Fantastic customer service!!!

Went there and purchased A tire on a tuesday. After a few minutes, they told me that 2 of my old ones are flat and needs to be replaced, so i did. Waited roughly 2 hours to ask for update just to find out one of the wheels was broken yet again!! And so i waited.. waited ANOTHER hour just to find out it can’t be replaced and had to wait thursday to get it fixed. Well, thats about 3hrs of my time WASTED for nothing!! Thanks for your great service!! Never will I be back here. You guys need to learn how to update your customers constantly!

Much better than many local shops (ie Johnsons Tire...steer clear, they are hacks) from a technical service standpoint. They also carry a higher quality product in general. The customer service is not bad but is a bit inconsistent (depends on which service agent you talk to). Will definitely go back (and will never go to johnsons again).

What is up with not working on tires that weren't bought from American TIre. I have a 20 year old daughter that researched the best tire prices around Anchorage, AK. Purchased the tires and drove home. The next day she waited in line to get her tires swapped for 1.5 hrs at American Tire. When she approched the counter the guy asked her what she needed. She said I have 4 new studded winter tires that I need installed. He asked her did you buy them from us. She said No. He said we can't install tires that weren't puchased from American Tire. I am very disgusted with this and would not recommend AMERICAN TIRE , or Alaska Tire. Thanks

I stood back as they gave a woman (must've been mid 20's) excellent service and I walked up to a "What do you want?". This place is a disgrace. I would NOT recommend this place, and I have repeatedly told my colleagues to go ELSEWHERE due to their lack of professionalism. I am sure it is different in the garage as I haven't heard any issues with the work they do. Enjoy. Take this review as you will. Hope it gets to management.

Had run over a nail and needed a repair a while back. Called around and the only person with my tire size in the type I needed in stock was American Tire. I never should have told this first off to the manager. The manager said it turns out on further inspection that my tire was irreparable and could not be put back on the rim. My spare had never been rotated in (vehicle was purchased this way), so he said they could not put my spare on. Pretty much I needed a tow home or to buy tires. I was a little irritated as the quote was very high at over $1800+ for 4 tires. I called around to try to get quotes which were all nearly $400 cheaper, but would take waiting a week for shipping. So I eventually relented and paid the price quoted since the manager refused to negotiate at all. Then he made sure to tack on additional mounting/balancing etc charges so I was well over 2 grand for 285s (not gigantic). After my new tires were installed I came to the back and asked that my old tires be put in my vehicle. The shop guy carrying them out for me said he could easily repair the tire that had a nail in it... and then he went and did it. O.o I was shocked as it was supposedly "irreparable"... but I said nothing. He came back less than 10 minutes later with my repaired tire and was followed out by the now redfaced manager. The manager actually screamed. At ME. He told me that I was not in charge of his employees. I just stared at him confused, because the employee had randomly volunteered to fix it... and I am twice his size. I don't know about the company as a whole, but the manager on Old Seward is definitely not an honest business man in all of his dealings. I got taken advantage of as well as yelled at when the guy must have felt a little caught in the act of lying. People should know to avoid him or at least be careful what you tell him. He is shady at best.

They acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Upon realizing what I was talking about, the guy randomly told us 20 more minutes. Ruined our plans in Anchorage.

Bought tires during a special they had but waited to get them mounted, brought new tires and vehicle in at 10:30 in the morning was told would be 2-2 1/2 hours. That's fine figured it would be, well five hours later and several phone calls I am able to get my vehicle back with tires mounted on it. Needless to say I won't ever come here or recommend to anyone. How this is a tire shop and moves this slow I don't know, I worked in a tire shop before and we had a mandatory 30-45 minute maximum tire change time. Only reason I didn't give a 1 star is because of the good deal I got on the tires!!

They act like they have the best prices in town (they didn't for me). Anchorage doesn't need more businesses with the pretentiousness of fancy restaurants. You're a tire shop. I should be able to pay you to work on my tires. I just went somewhere more reasonable.

I want to say thank you to the guys at American Tire for taking care of my car quickly and for the fantastic customer service. My front end alignment was way off and they did a fine job getting me going straight down the road again. I have an older vehicle and they took the time to point out some issues I may have in the future without pressuring me into getting unnecessary repairs done immediately. They worked while I waited with my two children, ages 7 and 1, and the job was completed before the kids had time to get unruly. Nicely done fellas. Thanks again.

Worst experience ever. I sent my girlfriend there after being quoted $782 for a set of new tires for her mom's car. The first gentleman she talked to was super nice and helpful. Our problem is with the manager. The employee had to ask whatever dickheaded manager was working on 07-02-2014, and he started off rude from the beginning. Talked to my girlfriend like she didn't know what she was doing. Told her that he doesn't sell our tires in the brand THEY quoted us for. He quoted her $911 for whatever he felt like ripping her off for, didn't have her sign a work order to have the tires put on, then made her pay $949 when she came to pick it up stating that she "heard" him wrong. My girl doesn't "Hear" people wrong when it comes to having to spend almost $1000. I don't mind spending the $1000. I don't mind being quoted the wrong amount two different times. I can even get past a shop taking my car without having a work order signed first. My whole problem with this place is that a rude, disrepectful, and clearly sexist pig is the guy who runs the place. I now have to contact their corporate office to complain because I don't want tires that they sell on a car when I'm paying for them. It comes down to simple trust. I can't trust a man who treats people the way that guy did. I can't trust a man who takes someone's car without having them sign something that tells them what is going to be done to it. So if I can't trust he guy who runs the place, how can I trust his workmanship? In the end, I know tires. I know shops are bound to certain sizes. I know that being a tire guy can be super frustrating when dealing with know-it-alls. And being a manager of all that can take its toll, but this guy takes the cake. Don't be a manager if you cannot handle it.

Encountered a flat over the weekend and had to purchase new tires. Tried to drop my car off to have American Tire take off my doughnut and switch over my tires. They turned me away because I did not purchase my tires from them. That's not how you build relationships with people, especially when they are in a tight spot.

Worst experience of my life. Brandon told me would take two hours max for my tires and I was the first one there, first come first serve they said. It not only took four hours. Not even 24 hours my tires pressure light came on. I called them back and immediately the woman on the said that they could reset my sensors. Why would you even say that you don’t know if that’s the problem or not. So I ask her if the tire is faulty if they are going to replace it and she said no it’s most likely you ran over a nail. At this point I’ve checked all my tires for nails and there is no nail. All my tires are dry rotted and not holding air ALL OF THEM. I called back and Brandon answered again. He tried to argue with me they wouldn’t replace them and that they were fine when he put them on. Nooooo they don’t just dry rot in a couple days bud and i was left stranded on the side of the road and 2 hours late to my new job of a month now. He continued to talk to me like a stupid little girl saying they wouldn’t replace them. I came in asked for the manager and told him what was and had happen and and brought in the tire that was on rim. He saw they were dry rotted and looked for a nail. Me and two of my roommates looked at all my tires before coming no nails the manager looked at the tire before taking my car back no nail. He take a my car back and come out front again all the sudden there’s a nail. The nail wasn’t even pushed into the tire like it drove on and he came out sayin well I didn’t just put it in and that he would still replace my tires. There customer service is beyond rude. They take advantage of girls and other customers. The service is awful and they rip you off. If I could talk to everyone walkin in there and tell them to go anywhere else I would. Save yourself the money and stress and go somewhere else!

I was talked into buying a set of tires for my ford explorer because I had a tire in the front that was bad.... I just knew I was airing it up daily well my boss got concerned and sent me to American Tire off of Old Seward Highway and they talked me into buying a set of 4 tires which were used cuz I couldn't afford the real expensive ones ...driving down the road is basically like an obstacle course I have to hold onto the steering wheel real steady because if not the tires dragged me into the next Lane this is happened numerous times and I've called them when it first happened and Richie acted like he didn't even want to deal with it like he was like well what do you expect they're used tire and that's not the answer that you want to hear after you paid $222.50 for some tires that's about to kill you on the road well i askedto speak toa manager because i wanted to return them.... his response was the manager won't be in until Monday I said OK guess I'll see you Monday and ended the conversation... Phone Rung And By Now I Am Heated then when he did say he'd accept the tires back he's like well you still have to pay for the installation fee but why would I have to pay for installation of some raggedy tire that you got me that got me going all over the road well needless to say I've struggled trying to find another comprable tire to the three that I kept from before and I couldn't find one so I'm still driving around on these raggedy tires that have me jerking all over the road and you should have seen it when it snowed I mean I've only had these tires probably for like 3 weeks if that and they're really scary.... Totally disappointed in this service not only did Richie SUCK in customer service.... the tires they sold are deadly.... This is now public record and if you experience a great service I am really happy for you but for now I will spread the word......Thanks for adding stress to my LIFE!!!!!! AMERICAN TIRE on old seward I am told to get a lawyer..... I may have to.

Went to another auto shop an in an out in 45 min. American tire is a joke. Wanted 280 for a tire I got ease ware for 209. Don't waste your time at American tire.

I was told that "It wouldn't be that long of a wait" to get a flat fixed (I ran over a screw). It has been two hours and I'm still waiting. Won't be making the mistake of coming here again. Maybe next time be just slightly more honest about how long you take to complete a job!

I want to say thank you to the guys at American Tire for taking care of my car quickly and for the fantastic customer service. My front end alignment was way off and they did a fine job getting me going straight down the road again. I have an older vehicle and they took the time to point out some issues I may have in the future without pressuring me into getting unnecessary repairs done immediately. They worked while I waited with my two children, ages 7 and 1, and the job was completed before the kids had time to get unruly. Nicely done fellas. Thanks again.

Worst experience ever. I sent my girlfriend there after being quoted $782 for a set of new tires for her mom's car. The first gentleman she talked to was super nice and helpful. Our problem is with the manager. The employee had to ask whatever dickheaded manager was working on 07-02-2014, and he started off rude from the beginning. Talked to my girlfriend like she didn't know what she was doing. Told her that he doesn't sell our tires in the brand THEY quoted us for.
