Great service and great bbq. Bbq Shrimp is fabulous but very messy! Warning, you will need lots of napkins and your fingernails may be orange for several days. The Sloppy Joe sandwich is really good too, must be eaten with a fork. Great Steak Fries and didn't think i was a fan of Ham Salad, but I was wrong, order some! They will give you a sample to try if you want to check it out. Grab some to go for a late night snack if you still have room

I took my wife here the other day to try their barbecue. The spare ribs were excellent. Wish I could say the same for the brisket. As a barbecue restaurant owner and Competition winner we all have our standards that we go by. The brisket had no bark on it at all. It seemed to be slightly undercooked from the way I did mine. There was also no smoke ring! I would have gave them five stars if the brisket would have been to my standards. The staff was friendly and very helpful. My wife said she definitely wants to come back and have some more ribs. I'm going to avoid the brisket and possibly try something else. The beans were good and the slaw was acceptable. I would highly recommend fresh cut fries instead of the frozen steak fries. It would definitely put your place at a little higher level of quality.

I read the reviews on Brobeck's and went into the restaurant knowing what I wanted. The ham salad appetizer (pictured) was very good and I definitely would get again. Of course the pulled pork and beef brisket were very good. For sidrs we had coleslaw, mac and cheese, beans, and tried the cheesy corn. CHEESY CORN? No one had that on their radar! I'm going back for the cheesy corn!!! Very reasonable prices for barbecue in Kansas City. GO CHIEFS!

One of the Kansas City area's hidden gems. These are the best baby back ribs I've every had, hands down. If you don't try the ham salad you're doing yourself a disservice (even if you think you don't like that kind of stuff). We're hooked!!

I’ve been looking for a really good place to get ribs, and while the places you normally go to first are good I’ve got to say that Brobecks in great. The ribs are delicious and have the perfect texture. The sides are also really good. The Mac and cheesy corn are great and easily compare to the other places you think of for those signature sides. To cap it all off the prices are very reasonable. With all that I can’t recommend this place enough.

Best ribs in KC! I stop by at least once a week to grab smoked turkey or pulled pork to go. Awesome sauce, and they even provide other local favorite BBQ sauces for your dining pleasure. Meat served dry and Smokey. Ham salad is excellent. Cheesy corn is perfection. Awesome smoked salmon and baked potatoes on the weekend. Best BBQ in KC, whether they call it Stilwell Smokehouse or Brobeck's BBQ, it's always a winner.

Brobecks is perfectly adequate bbq. In a lot of other cities it would end up a 4 or 5 star, but KC is a tough market and there are better alternatives around. That said, here are some specific notes. The Brisket was tender, but fairly flavorless. The Pulled pork had better flavor and was well prepared. I had potato salad and beans, which were very good, and kept this review from a 2 star. I also liked the two sauce choices. Best suggestion I have is a better rub/seasoning and cooking method to give the meat a better flavor, or pre-sauce the items. Edit: Bumped them up a star for the owner's response. Too many would have attacked for any kind of criticism, but such a gracious response is for sure worth something. Good luck to them!

Unimposing, but the best in town. The ribs are so tender, cooked to perfection so that the meat LITERALLY falls off the bone. Brisket is lean and tasty. On Fridays, the smoked baked potato is the only time I order one; the smokiness has spoiled me for an ordinary baked potato. And last, but so far from least, you’ve got to try the ham salad. I don’t even like ham salad anywhere else, but this stuff is addictive, on crackers,with their homemade chips, or on a sandwich.

My co-workers and I are frequent patrons here as the lunch specials are great throughout the week. Friendly staff, fast service and great BBQ are all reasons why we keep coming back. Great place, great people. Not flashy, but they don't need to be. Serving staff was fantastic. The ham salad was great. I got the meal with 3 meats (with pulled pork and brisket). My colleague got the burnt ends and they smelled fantastic. Carolina mustard sauce was fantastic if you like a pungent mustard flavor like I do. Overall great place. Not sure why the website says you are open til 9. When I brought an out of town guest in at 8:45, the lady said they only do take-out after 8:45. He was not happy, until we got to Joes..where we enjoyed ribs while they cleaned up. I normally would say 5 stars..but that was just embarrassing and rude.

I went here with a small group. I got a sandwich and a side of beans. Meat had a good smokey flavor. Beans were good. One person got the ham salad as an appetizer. I was a little scared, yet intrigued. I usually don't like things like that. It also had good smokey flavor, and as a dip for the homemade chips, it was very tasty. I also liked the mustard based (Carolina style?) barbeque sauce. Something unique was the sauce bar where several different types of sauce were available to try. They serve the food without sauce, so you can as much or little as you want. I tried a rib as well. They were very tender and smokey (seems to be a trend).

Brobeck's executes well, but loses points on depth of flavor. This, we believe, is due to the fact that they focus on smoking their meats rather than a dry rub or sauce. For example, the sign reads, "The only BBQ in KC where you can bring your own sauce." We ordered the Burnt Ends and they tasted more like a roast beef than meat morsels. The baby back ribs were cooked well, but lacked flavor and the full size ribs were dry. With that said, the sides were good to great. Their cheesy corn was surprisingly good for its use of acid (mustard) to cut the sweet and the coleslaw was pretty good, but the real stand out was the Ham Salad. It's innovative, salty, and finished fantastically. The picture is a sample they offer new customers. Service and environment were great. We felt welcomed and taken care of. I just wish the meat was better. #kcproblems

We tried about 4 different recommended KC BBQ joints while we were in town and the food here was the best! The burnt ends were excellent, the beans were solid, the cheesy corn was amazing, and the white cheddar Mac N Cheese was cheesy buttery goodness. The smoked ham dip was just the icing on the cake! The service was also excellent and the pricing was very fair. Would recommend!

They have the best smoked ham salad. We always buy at least 4 or more pounds to bring home whenever we're in the Kansas City area. Their ribs are outstanding, too, as they use a dry rub barbecue process along with smoking and the meat just falls off the bone. It's a small family owned place that is always busy. Yes, KC has several wonderful BBQ places but if you skip this one you're cheating yourself to a nice treat. Don't forget that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

I got the lunch special which was a great deal for a lunch that was filling, but not overwhelming. The lady who took my order was super sweet and accommodating. I was in for a business meeting with an existing client. It was perfect setting for a quick discussion and some good food. In and out in a little over 30 minutes. BBQ has to be very good to stay alive in this town. It is the best BBQ in the world you know. This place is just off a main street, not glitzy or fancy. Just delicious everything. Great pulled pork and Carolina style sauce. Once in awhile one needs to have a taste of back east. I use their sauce on pork loin too.

If you’re in the Overland Park area, this is definitely some of the best BBQ around! Being from NC I’m a pretty harsh critic when it comes to my pulled pork (most of the places in KC haven’t quite lived up yet), but Brobeck’s doesn’t disappoint. They don’t add any sauce for the cooking/smoking process, which is also a huge plus & adds a unique flavor. Then you add the down home nature of the place...win-win in my book. Will be back again soon!

It was decent. Not the best, not the worst. Had fantastic service from the waitress. The kitchen was SOOOOOOO slow though, it took forever for us to get our food. It was also insanely hot in there! I will say the waitress talked us into trying the ham salad and we both really liked it and we never like any type of "-salad" spreads. We probably won't be back to eat but may stop in to grab the ham salad sometime for parties and such.

I was in town for a wedding and stopped in to purchase a pound of the ham salad spread to bring to the pre-wedding party. I asked for a few extra crackers to serve alongside the spread and as a girl was about to hand them to me, a man next to her (owner??, he was dressed in street clothes) said more money. A pound of ham salad spread requires more than 6 crackers. He was very rude about it.

We decided to try something new. This joint is clean and family friendly with several booths to choose from. There was no wait when we arrived at ~2 pm on a Saturday. Overland Park KS has a gem of a BBQ spot that is close enough to the freeway for a quick stop off but it's out of the way in a niche that is quiet enough for the person who wants good food without the chaos of a busy hub. The food is excellent and the staff very accommodating. They make their own fried chips and they season them perfectly. I have an issue with too much salt and these were just right. Their BBQ meats are tasty and they make two sauces to choose from, one is sweetened with molasses and the other is tangy, being made with mustard. Both sauces are good and I mixed them for my meal. They have an additional BBQ sauce bar, for those individuals who want a special store brand. I had the opportunity to try pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage, and ribs, all of which tasted very good. None of the meats were dried out or bland. The soda we got was mixed perfectly with a perfect carbonation and syrup mix, a nice surprise. (Note: The bathroom was clean but it is tiny and is not wheelchair accessible.) I have posted a few pictures.

Starting off, this IS my favorite buffet in the KC area. As far as I'm concerned, this is also the ONLY Thai restaurant that offers a buffet as well. Their lunch buffet runs from 11-2:30 on the weekdays for about $8.95 and the weekends from 11-3 for about $13.95. (more options on weekends)

A great no-frills BBQ diner with very friendly staff. The BBQ itself is tasty yet generic (nothing makes it stands out). A nice variety of sauces are available. One of the reasons why they are popular is because of the everyday lunch special of a sandwich, side and drink. The value is very good for the price. They do offer other lunch specials as well. Their burnt-ends (when available) are good. I like their fries (fluffy and hot - temperature wise). I also like their new addition of a jalapeno cheddar polish sausage that can be added to their sandwiches. The service is good and quick which is why lunch time can be very busy for them.

We found the place by Google maps. To our delight it was a gem. This was our first time in KC and it was a great introduction to KC bbq. Our only regret is we did not get a chance to try the donut sized onion rings as we did not see them until we were leaving. We might need to make the 12 hour drive again for a ring. I never thought anyone could make baby back ribs better than my own...until Brobecks! No need for me to do the work when theirs are divine. BUT, yest there's always a but...don't stop at the ribs! Ever better than the ribs (if that's possible) is their pulled pork! Try a TN Porker or do like I do and just order their pulled pork by the pound! Lastly, you simply *must* try their ham salad! Ask for a sample, you will NOT regret it. It's addictive I tell you! I don't think I even like ham salad - what is this trickery? I LOVE theirs! I hope your family likes them as much as ours does. Don't dress up. Go as you are or bring some home. We even cater family get-togethers with their food. Nobody has to grill or smoke, it just tastes like you did!

Some of the very best burnt ends. Slaw had too much mayo for my taste, and the beans were too sweet, but the corn nuggets were pretty tasty. Looking forward to trying the other sides though, as I heard the ham salad/dip is quite good.

In town this week for work and wanted to find a solid bbq place that wasn't crowded and expensive. Could not have made a better decision! They give you the bang for your buck and quality bbq. Even got to sample a new ham salad recipe and it was amazing! Highly recommended checking this place out if you are close by. 5 Stars all day!

Very nice, friendly and clean. I ordered pick up and it was hot and ready in the 5 minutes it took to get there, however the ribs were very dry and burnt. I think they were debating on throw them away, cause I ordered 2 singles and they gave me half a slab atleast which was very nice but they were hard, dry, and burnt. The burnt ends were also fairly dry except for the fatty pieces, the best part of the meal was the corn nuggets which with ranch was pretty tasty. I might try them for lunch next time, it could be they had a dinner rush and I got there s little late.

Great service and great food. I love going on the weekend to get their smoked peel and eat shrimp. Their cheesy corn and mac and cheese are extremely tasty. Always a great experience.

Great place, extremely friendly service. Ham salad was fantastic - get it and spare yourself the hard sales pitch coming from the waiter or waitress (I like the appetizer version with the BBQ chips!). Rub is very black pepper heavy (too much so for my taste), but everything was prepared extremely well. Will definitely be going back.

The jalapeno sausage was tip top, but the brisket and chicken wings were just ok. The wait staff was superb though. They give you a little sample of their ham salad which was actually pretty fantastic, and I don't particularly like ham salad. Would definitely get again. I'm looking forward to trying their burnt ends.

A stop at Brobeck's BBQ is a must if you are in the area, even if you aren't, it's worth the trip. Their ham salad and home made chips are the bomb !! Can't say enough good about them. Order more than you want, because anyone who samples the salad, will want more. After the salad, go for their burnt ends & sauce...the best in KC, IMHO !! If you want ribs, you'll have several options, all delicious, but the draw for me is that ham salad....I go out of my way to stop in and pick up some every time I'm in town. Try them, and thank me later.
