Visited the Sandbar the other day with my mom and aunt. We had a great experience. It’s always nice to come here for finger steaks. I really enjoyed the garlic salt fries. Cecily, our waitress, was very complimentary and kind. It’s a great location to watch the floaters going down the river. I would definitely recommend this place.
Best setting in Boise for outdoor dining, music and beverages. Boise's greenbelt and the Boise River are the backdrop for this quality dining experience.
Lovely location, good food and live music, whats not to enjoy
Great music in an outdoor setting. Some good food choices. Cover from rays.
Nice music. Problems are mostly seasonal. Hot in the summer, flies in the fall.
Love this place. Right on the river, great food, dog friendly and live music.
Great service, fun music, food was fantastic. I got the chicken sandwich and my husband got the grilled cheese and brisket. We both loved them.
You can't spend money here, or eat, or drink, but you can wait over an hour with 12 people and not get a table.
Great vistas, good music, decent service and a fun place to hang out at the end of a long day
Amazing patio and atmosphere. Great food, drinks and service.
Entertainment was great, food was okay.
Cool location but the food was okay, not too impressed but would probably visit again to try something new
Summertime right by the Boise River and the greenbelt. Free live music on Tuesday nights hosted by The Sandbar and the Boise Blues Society
Got some wretched bands playing and now and again a fairly decent band. Hit or miss here.
Beautiful view of the Boise river. Nice little band playing. Food was excellent! The Mediterranean salad was awesome!
Best pool party in Boise
Great outdoor seating by the river. Live music almost every night!
On Labor Day, 2018, we stopped by for dinner. We checked in at 5:54 and was told there was a 20 minute wait. No Problem. We were seated at 6:12 and given water and menu’s. We did not see or hear from a server until 6:30. We went ahead and ordered drinks and dinner and was then told any food orders would be over a 40 minute wait. We left. It would have been nice if they told us ahead of time that food orders were backed up and the waits would be long. We were not happy with the service (or lack of) and the lack of communications, so we left. Very disappointed in the lack of communications and service. We will probably not go back.
Atmosphere is fun with good drinks. Server's are very nice but service is so slow and food isn't that great.
Drinks are high priced for the quality, but the music is nice on summer evenings. Lots of bicycle parking and great people watching. Ridiculous that you have to be a hotel guest to sit on a certain side of the bar, you’d get more customers if you did reserved seating on that side.
Such a great atmosphere!
Great menu and fun entertainment. Awesome vibe.
The food on happy hour is blah at best. They give you 1/4 cup of salsa with your chips n salsa. And the salsa is from a jar, not fresh (or at least it tastes that way) fish tacos were so dry and bland. Had to choke it down. So did my friend. The patio seating is nice, but the live music is so loud you cant talk to everyone at your table without shouting. If you visit the sand bar, go for a beer or cocktail and enjoy the people watching on the greenbelt and the live music. But do not order the food. Go with one or 2 people, so you can hear each other and interact
Cozy outdoors venue for live music. The Greenbelt runs right alongside it and the river is in sight. Well shaded during the heat with misters to make it more comfortable. The servers were friendly, helpful and funny. A very enjoyable place to listen to some live music and spend time with friends.
Great atmosphere great intertainment music, people watching, river walk
Usually much better than tonight, slow service, when it didn't seem busy. Warmish dinner. Good band and great views from the Patio Bar.
Love this place for a drink, a bite, and a bit of music.
Live thus place. Music is always great along with the atmosphere. One if our favorite go tos.
One of the best places in town for patio dining, weather permitting of course. Live music, good food, great location right by the river. My only complaint is that enough people have found this place, it can get pretty busy.
Beautiful location to beat the heat and sit on a dog-friendly patio. The staff immediately brought my dog a bowl of ice water and then a treat for him when our meal was served. Plenty of shade, misting overhead, and good music made for a lovely afternoon. The Kobe beef sandwich was delish. We will definitely be back!
One of my have places to go for lunch!
Amazing patio with great live music right next to the river
Great place, great staff, good food & awesome entertainment.
Fun patio right on the greenbelt. Hard to get a table most nights. Good beer. Good food.
Great band and service!!
Alright food with great atmosphere
Completely awful. Came here on a Friday night. They couldn't get a drink order right to save their lives and the $12 salad I ordered came with a vinegarette that was similar to strawberry nesquik. All we ordered was beer to drink and they couldn't keep them straight. It also took an hour and a half to get COORS LIGHT and a salad. Piss warm Coors light mind you. Crummy service, worse overpriced food, and warm beer. If this is your scene, be my guest. At least the live music was good.
Staying in town for an event and went out to try the beer and food. Great selection of drinks and a nice food menu. Food is very good and fresh. The atmosphere is relaxing and prices are fair. Staff was very friendly and accommodating
Good food and a fun atmosphere right by the Boise River
The fish tacos were pretty good. I would get them again.
We enjoy stopping by the Sandbar when we’re in the area. Decent selection of drinks and the food is pretty good. The live music is always a nice touch and generally it’s just a chill place to hang out.
The Sandbar is one of Boise's recently discovered destinations that has been a great, chill hangout for years. Their menu is best described as a quality lunch /bar menu that presents well and is enjoyable to eat. Their live music is always a cut above and ambles across almost all genres. A full bar is well staffed and the atmosphere is manicured ease.
Wonderful staff. Very attentive. Beers good. However, nachos were week because they used processed cheese like Cheese Wiz. Not acceptable.
Fun and lively atmosphere for drinks and food. Right on the beautiful Boise River. A great place for dates and group gathering. Attentive staff and good drinks.
Cool place with live music close to the Boise River. We liked the nachos.
Absolutely wonderful place to be! Food is fabulous, atmosphere is wonderful. Loved it!
Had the Kobe brisket sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. The scenery is beautiful and they usually have live music. It's the perfect place to stop and enjoy a few drinks and the food is tops.
We waited 40 minutes for appetizers and it took 40 minutes to get drinks. I couldn’t believe the blonde manager with short hair who was talking bad about customers behind the bar. A unprofessional establishment we heard good things aboun That was a nothing but a disappointment. To the manager who was talking badly about customers; they’re the one who are keeping you employed and you should be appreciative instead of bad mouthing them where they could clearly hear. Awful service. Decent food. Will NOT be going back and will advise everyone else not too.
Great food, service and ambiance. The setting defines fun
Nice location right off the river. Food wasn't great, drink selection pretty poor.
A cool restaurant bar on the banks of the Boise River
The place was a fun place to eat at. The food was filling and the dessert was very tasteful. And the band was playing such fun music, everyone was having a party.
I had a super pleasant experience here. Happy hour deals are exceptional, food was super fast. All around well-rounded experience. This is my third time here and every time they’re very accommodating and kind. Their blended drinks are pretty good and heavy which I appreciate! I do have two complaints: 1) the flies were out of control. It’s fly season so I get it, but you guys should hang some fly tape a few feet away from the gated patio. 2) you’re not safe from the sun whenever you’re seated. Cracks in the covering really don’t cover super well and it gets really hot. Plus the flies seem to enjoy that sunlight. I’m still giving this place five stars because those are little things that aren’t super detrimental. I’d also like to add our server was fantastic. Tina I believe? Great service.
Loved this place! It was hot out, but the misters were on and the fans were going full speed. They do their best to make you comfortable. We were out for girls night and the band gave the perfect background to our conversation and laughter. The service staff are helpful in making sure you get what you like and you like what you get. A word to the wise, get there early as tables fill up fast, especially on Friday! (I got there at 4:45, by 5:15 the place was packed.)
Great location and atomsphere, but pretty slow service and expensive offerings. I ordered a beer when our food got to our table, and it didn't arrive until after I had finished the food (more than 10 minutes after I ordered it). And it's not like it was busy... the waitresses and bartenders were just standing around chatting. Plus the pint comes in a plastic pint glass, which doesn't make sense given that it's more expensive than most places with beer on tap (which use actual glasses). The ambiance is certainly nice, and if the service was prompt and prices weren't so high, this could be a great place I would visit more often.
First time at the Sandbar. They had an incredible Americana band. Lunch was exceptional (Epic grilled cheese). Fries were the best I've had in Boise so far. Service was perfect timing.
Great food and music.
Awesome place!
Nice place for drinks although the cocktails are a little expensive.
Lots of flies and bees. But the food. The view and the staff were great!
Cecily was/is great!
On the Boise Green Belt behind the Riveraide Hotel. Good food and live music after 6 PM. Menu has lots of standard American fare, prepared with some creativity. Don't miss the ice cream sandwich dessert!
Close to the river and live music!
Stff wasn't the nicest, food was ok - after quoting 2 hour wait with tons of open table. Overall didn't seem like they cared.
Had my bday party there and blues band played it was awesome
The portobello veggie burger was great!
Took my friends there for my birthday!! Plenty of parking.. The drinks reasonable. Menu diverse. Appetizers ...Your bill FAIR!! The ambience was lovely. Live music and a small yet DOABLE dance floor. The wait staff numerous, BUT so many that we had NO idea who would eventually come around .. I rate my evening 8.95
Our server Sabrina was amazing! Love music was great. Food was delicious. Will be back!
Great place to get a good bite to eat, drinks and music.. Come in of the river or bike path..
It has become a Boise institution... Even though it's in Garden City.
Spent a nice evening celebrating, enjoying some good music, drinks and food. It was hot, crowded and we waited awhile for a table, but we were there to relax and were in no hurry. Food was great and the drinks were good. A little expensive, but we still had a worthwhile time and the service was attentive.
Great food and service. Right on the river and it has outdoor seating.
Food was great: burger and epic grill cheese. The drinks: some Hawaiian coconut thing from a mix = not very good as i would expect better for the price. My wife had (she thinks the name of her drink was "cold gold" )= not great, but she enjoyed it, I tried it and it was kind of sour, but ok. Service was bad, after finally coming to get the order, our drinks were left on the bar for almost 10 minutes until my wife finally couldn't take it and went up to get them. (I was just timing the event to see how long it was really going to take.) Maybe just a bad day for the waitress, but she had a flat affect and didn't seem to register quickly. We were poolside and the local music was very good, so we did enjoy the meal. The beer selection wasn't great, for my tastes as I prefer stouts, reds, etc ...less hoppy types. So, in conclusion, we would go back because the food was great and all the live entertainment that we heard for the two days was very enjoyable. We'd hope for any of the other waiters and probably not get the mixed drinks unless they were half like happy hour prices.
Great place in summer to hear local blues bands. Menu good but limited
Great atmosphere. Great patio dining. And live music
Overpriced drinks. Food is average. Tourist trap for out-of-towners, but good atmosphere even though they were chauncey with the misters this summer.
Great place to go fo outside seating. Good food and service. Be aware that they close for some holidays, like mother's day.
Food bad..and overpriced for what you get. Drinks bad. Atmosphere and servers great.
Waited 30 minutes to be seat which is fine but the hostess seemed to forget that she called us up. I ordered a brisket sandwich but I couldn't bite through it and it was very salty. Also had the fry nachos seemed expensive for what you got. The drinks were good and the location is fabulous but I think they cater to a older crowd.
Great vibe.
Great jazz, Sandens a stud.
It's a great place to go and relax on the river
This is a truly amazing place to stay, whether youre part of a big group for an event or just you and your family for vacation.
It's awesome. Perfect location, great food and drinks. Fantastic music. Definitely check it out.
One of the best patios on the green belt, mostly because of the live music!
Love this place! Always good food and live music, right on the river and misters for when it's hot.
Great outdoor bar with lots of shade for hot days. You're right next to the Boise river and Greenbelt. The live music adds to the great atmosphere! Our service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush so no issues.
The food was rotten that was served! Unbelievable the kitchen would send it out. The server was oblivious and told us he wouldn't eat the food either.Location was nice and the live music was cool but other than UNIMPRESSED. We won't be back!
Always a fun place to go
Best place to enjoy a drink and live music by the river. Plenty of Outdoor seating, a full bar, beautiful scenery, live music and delicious menu selections make dining at The Sandbar Patio Bar a top priority of mine when visiting Boise during Spring and summer. In addition to this, The wait staff were helpful and polite. What more could you ask for? Absolutely perfect.
CA hippie straws. Other than that 5 stars. Tip.... Ask for the kid straws.
It's average. Live music, but a bit loud (depending on the performer). Food, drinks and prices were okay. The patio environment beside the river is a plus! Overall, I'd go back only if suggested by others with whom I was dining.
My brother played the first night it opened for summer. Such a cool vibe
We had a great time, the band was really good, Pocket of Bones.
We were there Monday afternoon. Wasn't overly crowded and weather was perfect. Staff friendly and competent, food was delicious and drinks were satisfying. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back.
We rode scooters along the Boise Greenbelt and stopped here for apps and drinks 10/10! WONDERFUL!
By far the best location right on the Boise river near downtown. Great service and almost always live music.
As a vegan, not impressed at all. Our server didn't know a vegan from a hole in the ground and was not attentive at all. If you're a vegan don't bother unless you want a salad.
Waiting was really long. 40 min to get a salad.
Good service, food nothing special and over priced.
Nice ambiance. I like outside dining next to the water. Good foof, Live music.
Great atmosphere. Staff is very kind and courteous.
Cecily is the BEST!
Live music!! Good beer!
Great salads!
Good food. Absolutely horrible waitress. She told my 77 year old father in law that his question was the stupidest question she had ever heard when he asked if they had a full bar. I looked at her and said so you're calling him stupid, and …
Great people, Fantastic service!
Great, cozy place to sit and watch a local band. Loved it
Service was great, food was fair
On June 22nd 2019 I went to The Sandlot bar and grill resuraunt it was roughly 2:39 PM when we entered the east side establishment 150 meters from the river. The weather conditions were fair I would estimate 30% humidity and 25% cloud cover. The wait to get seated was 8 minutes. There was a high density of humans with only 2 dogs which was quite dissapointing. Thd first dog seemed to be a very good boye with long golden majestic hair. The second one seemed to be a bit scrappy, smaller roughly 6 pounds and I would estinate to be a terrier but also seemed to be a good boye. Honestly I forgot about the food 4/5 because of the dogs. Recomend. -Bye
Just a really nice spot. Right off the green belt and river, good views, good music and great food.
We were not aware that they had completed there expansion to the bar area near the pool and included a lot more tables, plus the bar seating. With the music right next to this extension, it's a perfect place to sit and watch the greenbelt area and have your favorite beverage or something from their awesome menu! Would highly recommend this hot spot on the river, associated with the Riverside Hotel!!
Don't care for pet friendly patio. Especially since it is congested already. The music is typically good.
Love this place. Live music all day on weekends. Open air restaurant right on the river. Appetizers are good (caprese skewers and soft egg rolls). Nice beer selection and servers are great. Gets pretty busy.
Best restaurant with a view of the water, and great live music nightly. The Grilled Cheese with Colby Beef is outstanding!
Excellent location, good food, nice service
Great atmosphere, always a good time. No reservations on the weekend. Good food and drinks. Live music in the summer. Highly recommend.
Apparently they got to select who are able to sit inside the bar early? In fortunately we ain’t able to get a drink there. And definitely not gonna go back.
Great food, good music, and right by the river. We stop here every time we ride the greenbelt. Live in Caldwell, and mother-in-law comes to visit from Bend, and always find ourselves here!
Really busy day. I deducted one star because the computer system for the waiting list was broken and despite the one hour wait we were surrounded by empty tables. Still the drinks were cold and the food tasty.
Friday night blues was supposed to start at 5p, per website, and did not start until 6p, so we heard no music. DEFINITELY should NOT allow people to hold bar seats with pool towels. How disrespectful to the bar tenders losing money and to those looking for seating. Great ambiance and location.
The Mississippi Blues, good food and friendly people a great, no rush place. Stop by....
Perfect place to enjoy the scenery, great music, good food and awesome customer service on a late Saturday afternoon .
Great food, great service. I will definitely be going back
I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and live music. The music was a little loud for me because I like to have easy conversation with friends.
Great setting along the river, drinks, food and entertainment...check the schedule.
Beautiful patio next to the Boise river, plenty of bike parking if you ride over on the greenbelt. Great food, great staff, full bar.
Great music, great location. Good cocktails with inconsistent results. Excellent one time, came in a plastic cup the next time. Sangria was undrinkable. Order processing convoluted and slow. Your order changes hands many times and you wonder how much longer you'll need to wait for your simple drink while 4 people at the bar standing around with no other customers in the entire place. Go there for the music.
