We had a terrible experience at this studio. We arrived at 12:15 (our scheduled appointment time) and did not start taking photos until 2. The staff had no idea how long the wait would be when we arrived. The "manager" arrogantly compared this process to waiting at a doctor's office. Clearly these delicate geniuses didn't know much about anything else. By the time we were taken into the room my kids were exhausted and did not have a good experience. Out of the 20 allowed photos (can you imagine an hour and 45 minute wait for 20 photos?), half were terrible. I asked the manger for her information so that I could formally complain to her superiors, but she conveniently disappeared when we were finishing up.

Made an appointment yet still had to wait for 2 hours, felt rushed during the photo shoot. Then once everything was done we were told there was a 30 dollar sitting fee and it " can't be waived just because you had to wait". Will not come back and do not recommend anyone to try this place

I think a lot of the other reviews are unfair to the folks working there. Yes, they are constantly overbooked . That is not the photographer's fault, but JCPenney's corporate policy's fault . I too have had an appointment with a baby (actually all of my appointments have been with a baby) and yes, we have had to wait for an hour after our appointment time. But the staff were all very busy that while time, and it's not like they were just ignoring us for fun. People complaining about long waits and then feeling rushed are wanting it both ways, or are not looking at the big picture . This isn't a local photographer that you are paying $200 for an hour to spend with. This is a corporation that books in 15 minute increments and charges accordingly. You get what you pay for, and I am perfectly willing to deal with trying to keep my child entertained while waiting for professional pictures that have always turned out really nice. If you are looking for one on one personal service, this isn't it. But if you want good pictures of your family for Christmas cards, or to mark your child's milestones, this is a good economical option.

Extremely horrible discriminatory customer service. Called to shop prices and the moment Kelsey sensed my dissatisfaction with a sitting fee of $10 per person in addition to the $99 she quoted me,her tone changed to disrespectful and even started yelling."Well that's the cost,that's the cost". I asked for her manager and later received a call from Britney who said if I "felt" like I had a rude experience they're rated #1 in customer service,as if I would have went through the hassle to communicate how I felt if my concerns weren't valid. All I can say is, don't question they're prices or theyll get rude real fast. Discriminated because of being on a budget. I cancelled my online appointment right away and I'm still in shock.

I had an appointment and when I got there I was told the wait would be TWO HOURS?! I went to another studio in the mall that took my right away as a walk in. My one year old is not going to wait for two hours for photos!

The best photo session in a long time. Friendly staff. Came on a Sunday. Make sure you schedule with David. He is the best with newborns and children. Came on a Saturday and the other employee wasnt as good with children.

I just had the worst experience at the portrait studio. We made an appointment because we have a toddler and you have to plan around nap time and eating. We got there on time. We had to wait over an hour to sit for the pictures and by that time our toddler was done. Pictures were not good. Prices were way to much for what we got. Just very disappointed and hate we wasted our time.

I had the worst ever experience today. We were late by 15 mins for our appointment. My wife called to speak about delay and whether we could still come. They asked us to come in. However, they made us wait for ever leaving 2 month and 3 years old babies hungry. Apparently, the manager meant she will accommodate only when there are no other customers in the studio. They kept on taking new customers even though they were early/late for their appointments. We had to return back after 2 hours wait without any luck. We also had to lose our money on Groupon coupon. Worst part, the manager and staff wont consider our patience in waiting and kids being hungry. They were so rude and took us for granted. We paid price only because we called and informed about our 15 min delay and probably because we were using Groupon coupon. I have never experienced a situation like this and never ever consider them for a portrait again in our lives. Regards,

I made an appointment, paid for parking, showed up on time, spent two hours waiting ON MY BIRTHDAY, I was given a form to fill out but I was never got called for my shoot. Their excuse after two hours of waiting? There's still a group in front of you,or don't leave you're next... LIES. THEY HAVE ONLY ONE ROOM FOR PHOTOS and WILL NOT RESPECT YOUR TIME!! I decideD to leave so I could make my dinner reservations, THEY RUINED MY BIRTHDAY.

The wait time will be over an hour. Ridiculous! No point in scheduling a time. What a rush job in taking photos. No time to wipe my baby's nose. The photographer rushed through the whole shoot. Nothing but a meat market. Cluttered store! The entrance and exit lines run into the people who are viewing their pictures for purchase. What a mess! When they call your name to finally take pictures it will be naptime for your little ones and lunch time for the family. JCPenney don't ever worry about my family returning.

I wasn't pleased by the customer service at all!!!! I called in to say that I'd be 8 min late and the guy on the phone said it was ok. I got lost because I didn't know where it was exactly. They called me and I was able to find my way but when I arrived there, the lady had an attitude, didn't even greet me. I said Hi but no response from her. She was like I'll be taking your pictures today bla-bla-bla with the same energy. I just left. Couldn't take her rudeness. I should've asked for her name; but hey, it's not worth it. They called me a day before my appointment but weren't even able to answer my questions. 0 star! I should've trusted the negative reviews.

It was really a shame because we got the kids ready and excited about having their pictures made. The photographer had no personality to bring out natural smiles and no skill or timing. When I asked the manager for another photographer, she sent in a helper who was not much help. “Look at the lens!” They kept saying. I’m not sure my kids knew what that was. How about bringing their attention to a focal point through an interesting toy or puppet? The manager did find the Santa hats after the helper said there were none. When we got one decent picture of the kids, I was told I couldn’t order that one on a Christmas card because it required 3 poses. Very disappointing experience

It seems the bad reviews were from days it may have been extremely busy. I ended up coming in because of a groupon I bought, and left happy from a great experience! I came in a few minutes before my appointment time, filled out some paperwork, chose a background, and sat in the waiting room about 5 mins before they called me in. We were able to do an outfit change for the baby, and Diamond was patient through it all. Jerrussia helped us navigate the computer when selecting our pics and even played with the baby while we were trying to decide. My only issue was the baby was cranky and didn't smile much... sigh, BUT it definitely made it easier to select pics! lol

The manager I’m assuming she was, basically stood back texting on her phone while the lady helping us had no idea what she was doing with the review of the pics. 130$ for them to throw some basic filters on the photos. Wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone.

Do not go here. Save yourself the headache. Still waiting on prints that were paid for on the 5th of the month it’s now the 23. Don’t count on your guaranteed date for your prints. I honestly believe they didn’t put in the order for my prints initially to be sent in the beginning. You have no number to contact about tracking for your photos. And if you do call the number they provide it’s outsourced in India somewhere, which will direct you to sales pitches and etc. I gave the 1 star only because at the end of the day the people doing the photos were kind and nice however the steps afterwards for delivery performance needs a lot of work.

Portraits were mediocre. Came here with my family and was very disappointed at the lack of professional attitude. The lady who took our photos treated me like a stupid teenager and I may be young but I pay my bills and don't live with my parents so yes, I expect to be treated and respected like any other adult. She was snappy and rude. Will not be returning here for photos or to shop at JCP's simply because as a person the way she spoke to me and interacted with me was completely inappropriate and disrespectful. As a professional she should know better. Very very disappointed. I will shop places that treat their customers with at least basic decency.

The photo outfit is stuffed in the back corner near the hair salon. So it smells like burned hair from time to time. My wife and I took our 4 month old baby to get a family picture. We had an appointment at eleven. We got to wait an hour + before we got a photographer. I think the staff was trying to put on a brave face. Even so it was obvious that whomever knew how to run the place was not there that day. Clerks were trying to be kind and kept us up to date about how screwed we were to be standing there with a ticking cry bomb in our arms. They ended up trying to touch the baby which was irritating. The photographer kept making the same Betty Boop noise to get my daughter's attention. It was never successful in getting her to smile, so saying the situation degraded would be unfair. It remained mediocre. Well, until we tried to change set ups. Throw some fur on the ground, maybe we all stand and hold each other, something with a little variety and this young lady was just not thrilled. Oh, she smiled plenty, but when a customer says "I think my husband blinked or something" take another shot, don't just leave it at one shot... Bracket the shots. It was stuff like that which made me think there was little more than a body hanging around shooting pics. She would wake up after work perhaps. And because of several missed chances to control the photos on the part of the photographer our album was pretty choppy and lame. After more than three hours in that den of screeching wailing laughing stoic and sleeping children and after the JC Penny Photo experience I can say with absolute certainty that I do not under any circumstances wish to have portraits taken again in a picture mill! And most assuredly not at JC Penny.

You cannot beat the military discount. Free session fee, 1 free 8x10 and every print 8x10 or smaller for $3.99... which means 1 8x10 is 3.99, 2 5x7s are $3.99, 8 wallets, $3.99, and so on.. we got 40 printed photos in different sizes, of 12 different pictures for $58. The woman was wonderful and was very patient with my anxious 2.5 year old. We went very close to his nap time & she worked so well with us. We got spring pictures of the family and him alone, WAY cheaper than it would’ve been to see the Easter bunny for 4 prints of 1 picture. What a deal. Will definitely be back for all holidays including his 3rd birthday :)

Went to the Clackamas location .... was so excited for our family/maternity shoot ... really planned out the outfits for everyone (typical of me) sadly the photographer was out of her element & was so flat with emotion!!! I cant see myself so would expect the professional to assisted where to turn, place hands, etc.... WAS NOT THE CASE AT ALL ~ photographer could care less but speeded thru the session.... had to tell her to hold-on so I can fix my bow! Took me about 15 minutes (after photo shoot to realize what just HAPPENED) to come to terms with the horrible outcome!! Gathered my words as best as I could & explained to the manager Darla what just had occurred.... She was so wonderful & amazing customer service & ended up retaking all our photos ~ turned out soooo FABULOUS... was amazing with the children & so kind, playful & pleasant, professional ... will definitely reserve her for future! If it wasn't for Darla I'd probly not return! 6 months prior (Christmas photos were done awesome too) apparently numuras complaints have been made about that photographer & is in the process of finding new employment... so there's good & bad people everywhere or maybe just not the right fit for the job task.... was a good learning experience for me to be assertive & respectful & kind & stand for what's important for me & my family! Overall every Thankful for the BEAUTIFUL outcome & will use JCP Potaits again :)

This place takes ok pictures (you get what you pay for). But my real complaint is with their lack of customer service. I scheduled the Christmas photo session for my children last week at 8pm. When I got there at 7:45 they told me they were at least an hour behind! There were lots of other families still waiting in the waiting room (some with appointments scheduled for as early as 6:30pm). Another mother asked why they didn't call to let everyone know they were behind so that we could come later, but they said they didn't a have time to call. They didn't take us until a little after 9pm...we didn't leave until 10:30! And mind you, these were all families in the waiting room with children...it was very inconsiderate of them to make these families wait...some of the children were cranky by the time they went in to take their pictures, I doubt the pictures came out as well as they could have. But really the worst thing was the lack of empathy of the staff, they just said "oh well." Needless to say, I won't be going back there again. Update: my sister went to take pictures today and because of my experience last week, I told her to take her time getting there. She called them several times to ask whether or not they were running late but no one answered the call. When she checked in, they told her she was 10 minutes late and they wouldn't take her. However...there were still lots of people in the waiting room (they were running late again, not surprisingly). When she mentioned that it wouldn't have made a difference if she came 10 min earlier or not, that she would still be waiting...they said they "didn't care" and wouldn't budge about canceling her appointment. I had originally recommended JC Penney to her, but now I really regret it and feel bad that she had this bad experience.

Fantastic customer service and incredible staff. This studio provides excellent photo sessions, offering a nice variety of backgrounds and props (esp. for children) and giving a variety of poses per session to ensure some exceptional shots. They do well with individual portrait sittings and also with large groups (like our family of 8). With coupons and other offers, and especially with a membership, you will find many ways to get professional photos at affordable prices.

We showed up a few minutes early and the girl working, Holly T, started working with us right away. She went through the options and set up the background quickly. She worked really hard to get our very stubborn 4 yr old to listen. Our daughter kept running off but the photographer kept coming up with new ways to engage her for a couple minutes at a time. We were amazed, because Holly was able to capture way over 20 perfect shots. (Usually we only find 4 nice shots from a session with our daughter.) She helped us make some collages and pick out photo packs. This is the first time we ever bought the DVD with all the shot since they all came out so well. Great experience throughout.

I am so glad I didn’t listen to all the negative reviews. I brought a Groupon a few months ago and made an appointment on the last day for it to be used. The staff was friendly. There was no wait time except for her to set up our chosen background. The session was very good and the kids pictures were great.

HORRIBLE PLACE! UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE! We took our new born twins and 3 year old to take photographs. We had a groupon ticket for a photo sitting ans some prints. We got there 10 minutes earlier than the appointment time. seemed like they had over scheduled themselves as we had to wait 45 minutes before they took us in. the photographer, although nice, but not very kid friendly/ photos are ridiculously poorly shot, poses are not attractive, lighting is terrible. so at the end we paid about $110.00 more for a total of 8 digital photos and no prints. my 3 year old did not even get a chance to take picture with his new siblings as he wanted a toy that he saw behind the curtains in the studio and the photographer wasn't mature and professional enough to make a connection with a toddler. We took new born pictures with an iphone at home the next day and the quality on those are significantly better. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MO NY here! We called and they said to come in and get 50% of our money back, so my wife goes in with 3 kids, and the manager rudely said she is not going to refund! I will report this also to the BBB.

Oh my goodness. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT bother with this place. Worst service ever. I go to sign in and the woman at the counter tells me they've been busy and running behind all day. (So why wouldn't you take the time to call and tell me that since you know I'm coming in with a three month old who has a small time frame where she will be happy.) Anyway okay fine. We sit down and wait they go half an hour after our scheduled appointment time and then the photographer sits down at the computer with the customers while the lady at the counter sits there on her iPhone. Isn't that what the lady at the counter is for? To go over package information? Of course the baby has started to cry by this point and we say we're going to cancel. The photographer goes up to my child and goes "it's okay it's not your fault". My husband literally looked at her and said yah we know it's not HER fault. We were asked if we wanted to reschedule and I said no. Needless to say we booked an appointment at a private studio called Blue Kiss.

Business headshots were not very bad, but were not satisfactory at the same time. I expected much better, but you get what you pay for. 80 bucks for 3 headshots is not a bad deal, but if you want top-notch photos this is not the place to be.

My appointment was at 10:45, we were there 10 minutes earlier and we waited 45 minutes for the photographer and another 40 mins to view our pics. our photo session took 10 minutes and I only liked 3 posses! The photographer was not creative regarding the posses. When I got home to view my email gallery I had another family pictures. Still trying to get the email situation resolved. So frustrating, I been a customer since 2013. This was my last year using JC Penney portraits.

Had an appt. today at 7pm. Was called in to take photos at 9:05. The photographer lacked character as did her picture taking. She is not good with children. I was told bc the mall was closing I had to come back to view the photos another day. The least they can do is accommodate us with some type of discount. No appreciation for a customer's time.

We have used Rachel at the Quail Springs mall for years, however, once she left, things went downhill fast there and the last two times we have used that studio, we were not happy. So, I called the Penn Square JCPenney Portrait studio for our spring pictures. I made an appointment with Brittany and we could not have been happier. She worked well with both our kids, but especially our son and she got great pictures. We were very happy with both our family pictures and the pictures she got of our kids together.

Awful pictures. I ended up with 20 pictures of my child's forehead. The nice lady tried fancy angles and missed my child's face. Very dark, porely lit pictures, too. I lost out on $150 and capturing this stage of my child's life. I wish they had a satisfaction guarantee.

I never have written a review but I really felt the need to because I was so disappointed. I scheduled an appointment for my little one to have pictures taken. I arrived 15 minutes early as they recommended but it was actually more like 20-25. The girl seemed to be behind because we didn't even start our session until 10-20 mins after our schedule time. The sitting time was 15 mins which I felt was very rushed. If anyone has a small baby you know it's hard for them to smile and do anything on cue sometimes. It was almost like she was annoyed and rushing to hurry because her next appointment had come, which she was behind in the first place. By the time the viewing part had come I felt so much pressure to hurry up pick the pictures and the package I wanted. I didn't get great explanations of the different packages and felt like I should just hurry up and pick something so she could start her next appointment. The pictures were ok but I felt like I could have done better if I had my own props and set the background. I feel like I spent way too much money for the quality and service. I will never return for pictures here.

Horrible customer service today. We came here a year and a half ago and had a good experience, but today was another story. The lady at the front was completely rude, telling us the photos they take as part of the “service” to us, even though we tried explaining what we want and don’t want. Not exactly a service if you try and argue with your customer. The photographers attitude was just ok, my two year old was not into pictures today, which isn’t the staffs fault, but she only half ass tried to work with us and wasn’t very friendly. Not rude, but not friendly either. However, the pictures turned out horrible. I mean bad, the lighting was off, the poses were all the same and not quality. We’ve used other JCPenney Portrait studios and have been happy with the results. We left without buying anything, even after I drove from Salem. Will not be back to this location.

Very disappointed in their staff and the lack of organization. We had been getting newborn and family photos done and during the newborn photos, obviously our son got upset from the flashes so she told us to take time to calm him down. After we returned, she rushed us to take photos her way and not listen to the way we wanted them done. After selecting the very few photos we actually liked, she supposedly ordered them. Now returning to pick them up to give some to our family from out of town this weekend, the pictures were completely wrong. They switched the 8×10 that we chose with the wallets so just the top of our son's head is in the wallet photos and now refuse to give us our money back. Will NEVER return.

I went there for my son's photos when he turned 2. They took way too long to see us, with no apology. When the photographer did finally see us, my son was a bit cranky from the long wait, so she was in turn impatient with him. She even went and chatted with another family and told us to let her know when he was ready. When I got her attention again, she came back snapped a few shots then basically gave up. I have taken many, many pictures throughout my son's life and I never had someone so inexperienced with small children. I won't ever return. This location is closer to me but I would rather go to Mall of Georgia. I've gone there twice for Christmas pictures and they were very professional and skilled with small children! I only gave this location 2 stars because when we returned for the pictures, at least that associate was a bit more professional.

I almost didn't use them because of these reviews but I didn't regret one bit of it. The crew members are extremely helpful and baby-friendly! They try to bond with the babies and I loved that. 12 April 2017: Man, did this JCPenney Portrait Studio drop the ball today! I made an appointment on Monday for today (Wednesday) at 1:15pm and come 2:00pm, my sister and I were *still 30-minutes from being seen, "Why bother with an appointment then, JCP?" The thing is, they ask *you to confirm your appointment/call if you're not going to make it, but there's still no assurance that you're going to be photographed. In all fairness to this JCP, it is spring break and Easter is this Sunday. I surveyed the waiting area and it was obvious that I wasn't the only one who'd been promised a time slot, yet didn't get it. JCP in Pineville got its butt kicked today, plain and simple! I *have been to this studio this past January and they did a great job! If you want to use this JCP, make sure school's still in session and there are no holidays coming up. You've been warned...

We went in 15 mins before our appointment to have time for check in. When i made my appointment i made it clear I had a 2 month old and a 4 year old. When we got there we were told they were running 10 mins behind. We were waiting for an hour after our set appointment, at this point my 2 months old was fuzzy and my 4 year old wanted to leave since he was tierd and bored. Well to make long story short, our session was not what I expected it to be since my newborn was too uncomfterble and was crabby since she wanted to take a nap. JCP should be more considerate of parents with young children it is not easy waiting for so much time , especially if we HAVE APPOINTMENTS. STOP OVERBOOKING. The lighting and the quality of pics were not at all what i expected it to be, the pictures i took while waiting came out to look way better than the “proffesional” pics. but i went ahead and orered $200+ Worth of pics anyways because they were my first family pics. But i was not happy. The only reason I gave it a two star was because the photographer had a connection with my kids and got a few smiles from them. Next time ill take my own pics.

I am the least impressed with the customer service here. The sales associates for the portrait studio really lacked in the "studio"us department. They were not friendly at all and showed no patience or desire to help pick out the best package for my family and I. It happens to be that the girl who took the photo was a sweet girl full of patience but other than that the rest are a grumpy crowd. I ordered the portraits when we finished and later they were online to see. I decided I wanted one of the copies we ordered to be printed in black and white so I went back and kindly requested if it would be possible to do so. The woman gave me such an attitude and yelled at me that I only have 1 hour from when we had our sitting to edit the photo. Which is funny because no one offered me the option to edit it during that hour. When they were finally online for viewing and editing was 7 hours from when we took it and they'd "have to charge me to edit it in that case because it wasn't in the hour". Take your business elsewhere,it is far more worth spending more money somewhere else than to deal with the crowd here.

I have been here two times in the past year for photos. I had purchased their membership the first time unfortunately so I figured I would go again to use the discounts I had available, since I have a year left of the membership. This location has trouble running their business. They overbook appointments and are late. They make excuses such as blaming other customers for taking a long time at ordering photos, rather than owning up to the fact that they have poor management of the whole operation. My Christmas cards I ordered are still not there to be picked up and it is already a week late as it is. When I went there to pick them up, the staff member apologized and said my cards were not there because JC Penny does not send them on weekends. This was on a Sunday and I was told they would therefore be there on Monday. Now, 5 days later, I call ahead and I am told they are not there because it is the fault of UPS. No, this location needs to own up to the fact that it is their fault that every single step of this process is a disaster. I have a baby and it is not easy waiting 2 hours to complete a photo session. This last time I went, at the end of November 2017, I literally was there 2 hours. First, I waited 45 minutes get our photos done. My appointment was at 11AM and they were finally able to honor our session at 11:45. Then, after the photo session, I had to wait to order pictures. They were backed up. I don't know why I couldn't just leave and order them online. It would have been easier for me! They force you to wait and order with a staff member in order to get any prints. The staff there was blaming the hold up on other customers that take too long to make decisions. By the time I was able to start selecting photos, it was 12:15. Then the staff member that was helping me kept asking me if I wanted "this one" or "this one" as she kept creation different collages. I told them I was in a rush and didn't want any and she said she can't proceed unless she sets up some collages in the system because it forces her to try to sell them to me. I was finally able to leave at 12:50. This waiting game happened to me both times I went there this year. The first time was in February 2017. In summary, the management of this location does not know what they are doing. If customer service was important to them, they would not book a photo shoot every 15 minutes because as soon as they get behind, everyone suffers. Secondly, if they are going to make customers pick their selections immediately after their shoot, then they should have a time limit or more staff available to accommodate everyone. I am telling you it was absolute chaos in there.

Booked a valentine's day shoot.get there and they had zero valentines backgrounds,rugs and maybe a handful of dollar store valentines props that they weren't even sure they had when I asked.when I asked for the white fuzzy rug I saw in pics online they said its only meant for babys and that its very small.(my son is almost 3)halfway through the shoot I ask to see it and its huge.smh.not happy with the lack of things for the shoot.if u book a shoot for something you would think they'd actually have the right stuff for it

don't waste your money and time by going to JCP at this location. we have been going to JCP a few times every year in the past few years. we did get some nice pics from there but not at this studio. we went to this place 3 times. the first two times I can't blame anyone. ,my kids were little and certainly not very cooperative. this time my kids behaved very well and staff there wasn't busy at all. 1) the woman only took 12 pics. I was always told it was supposed to be 15-20 pics. each time I got 15 pics but this time. 2) some pics were almost exactly same poses. why do people need two identical pics? 3) one of pics my husband's eyes were closed. that one was considered as A pic too. 4) the poses were awkward. the woman specifically asked my son to put his hands in his pockets, and that pic is the only one we all looked ok except my son's hands. we used to like JCP. now we will have to find another studio to take our family pics.

We made our appointment for 11:15 am on a Saturday for our family portraits. We wanted to make sure to get an appointment, as we have 3 children ages 3 and under and waiting for an extended period of time and then getting them to be happy for the pictures would be nearly impossible. We arrived 15 minutes early for our appointment, only to find two large families there being taken back, NEITHER OF WHICH HAD APPOINTMENTS. When we told them we had an actual appointment and asked how long it would be, they told us it would be an hour or more due to the two walk-in families they were just taking back. What is the point of making an appointment if they give priority to walk-ins anyway? We had to walk out, wasting the hour we had taken getting the kids ready for pictures AND the 30 minutes it took to drive to the studio. We will NEVER go back to JC Penney for pictures. It’s worth paying a little extra for a local photographer who at least knows how to act professionally.

I live out of town and made an appointment a week in advance for family portraits. After arriving, the manager told us that the person that booked our appointment shouldn't have because they didn't have the staffing at that time. As this was the only day we could take pictures with our entire family, I was really disappointed. They ended up taking our pictures in between appointments, but we only ended up with 4 photos. We had to pay full price for a shorter session and only 4 photos. I would highly NOT recommend this studio, as they have incompetent schedulers and a very rude manager.

Perhaps a local, private photographer could have offered a more pampered and personalized service, but probably not much more, and doubtless the cost would have been far higher than any perceivable improvement. Only to have the women checking us in holler after us "We're running 45 min to an hour behind." We waited for an hour and were told there were 4 families still in front of us. What the hell is the point of making an appointment? If you are running that far behind call people and let them know before they drag two small children in for photos. We make appointments around our daily schedule..naps and meals. Our kids were starting to go crazy and I was already feeling frustrated so we let them know we were leaving. Are they letting walk ins get pictures before those with appointments? Terribly managed chaos, we will not be back.

I have gone here before and it was great but I dont recommend this place..I booked online on a Tuesday(they are closed) called weds to confirm because I have a 2 and a half month old and wanted to make sure they would be prepared for his shoot. Save yourself some time and find another place to get pictures taken. You can theoretically schedule an appointment for a certain time. However, the reality is that you will be seen at their convenience. We showed up 20 minutes early for our appointed time and we’re not seen until 40 minutes after our appointed time. The quality of the pictures isn’t enough to overshadow the poor service and apathy towards timeliness.

I am so disappointed by my sons newborn pictures we had taken here. The photographer allowed the people in front of us to run into our time by 45 minutes. When we got there my son was fed, sleeping and content. We walked around the mall and waited. By the time they were ready for us, he was ready to eat again. The photographer was not patient and kept pacing around while I was bf'ing my son. He wouldnt fall back asleep due to the fact that I couldnt get his belly full because the way she was pacing like we needed to hurry.. She "graciously" waved our studio fee.. 10 whole dollars. I would have much rather paid that and got the pictures we wanted. We have none in the special outfits that we brought specifically for his newborn pictures. I am so sad that such a special moment was ruined by such a careless photographer. 0/10 WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND.

All the people who complain about the long waits definitely waited too long to schedule their sessions. Last year I went the second week of December and waited about a hour and half past my appointment. This year I scheduled the Christmas session the second week of November and I was the only one in the store at 10am. No lines, no waiting. Plan accordingly and you won’t have an issue. The photographers and the rest of the staff do the best they can to get people in and out as quickly as possible. I don’t imagine they enjoy listening to a room full of screaming children and angry adults so be kind!

We wanted a family shoot, figuring there wouldn’t be time for more and she managed to also get pictures of just the kids and do a mini newborn session. It was quick and easy to make an appointment and get in. I did a 6 month photoshoot. The prices were a bit much for prints... next time I would buy the digital rights. The props could use a little refreshing. The staff was okay. You are literally the boss, so if there is something that you would like specifically, you are the driver. They do as you say, and they don't really deviate from the plan. So if you have a theme or your own props, would be better. I felt that I could take my own photos if it weren't for the fact that I wanted to be in them.

Be prepared to wait all day. They don't go by appointment. I had an appointment at 12:00 and did not leave until sometime after 4:30pm. By the time I was called, my daughter was cranky and would not stay still for a picture. Even after I took the photos, I still have to wait to customize my packet with a staff member. There are not enough backdrops and I would reccommend yoi bring your own creative props. This is a mall so come as early as you can.

I️ have never experienced such chaos at place of business like I️ did today , I️ took 18 month old son to get his pictures taken and as I’m sure any parent is aware getting a child to sit in one place is not the easiest so pictures don’t happen often for us. So I️ was expecting the photographers working to understand I️ needed to get I️n and out. Everything was so disorganized I️ waited over a hour after my sons pictures were taken to look at 7 pictures that were halfway decent for them to go on and tell me that it would take 2 1/2 weeks to even get them . Will NEVER be returning .

Grandmother kept saying she couldn't see the screen and associate Nicholas didnt care to help her so she paid for the photos but chose none herself. We selected 2 backgrounds and he never changed them. The poses were unskilled... We ended up selecting the ones I made up. He didn't care about our relation to one another so some photos were a hodgepodge. He was the BASIC definition kind but it was obvious he didn't really care. Went back to order additional less then 24 hrs later and they raised the price dramatically AND the morning associate was rude. She let me control the software myself (thank God) because she didn't have a clue and was full of "no, can't do it" though I did in seconds... It's your software so why am I working it better? We had to sign up for some membership to "save us money" which saved us on the sitting fees of $10/person. Do yourself a favor and go to a small business where they will value your business and opinion, instead of an overpriced big box store where you are nothing but a number and dollar amount. Or go ANYWHERE else. So dissapointed.

I had an appointment today for my daughter and I. They got 4 good one of her alone. However, I was after pictures of me and her together. We had 3 bad ones to choose from. And only one of us looking at the camera. So I had to settle. The photographer got frustrated after three pictures and gave up. So I didn't get a good picture of me and my daughter. We we're the first ones of the day and the photographer already had it because there were many problems setting up the camera. I am not happy with my JCPenney portrait experience.

My family and I went in to have our first family pictures taken. I was very unsatisfied with customer service. I scheduled an appointment for a reason so we could be seen at that time especially with an 11 month old baby. We ended up waiting for 25 minutes before we were called back for the photo session! The receptionist didn't have common curiosity to apologize for the wait or let us know what was going on! By the time we were able to get in and take our pictures my baby was fussy. Although the pictures came out decent they could have been better. My biggest problem however is with customer service and by reading the other reviews it's givin you an unprofessional image.

EDIT 12/28: Changed from 1 star to 3 star because our photos did turn out amazing and our photographer was wonderful. She was working her butt off to get all of the people seen and taken care of on a day where they had two people instead of the four they needed, and even though she was tired and had probably been there all day she was fast, efficient, took great photos, and somehow managed to maintain both her her senses of professionalism & humor. Apparently Corporate wouldn't let them call in more staff. Shame on them, because they needed the help! Original 12/27 We've waited an hour and a half past our appointment time and still haven't been seen. We were told the wait would be maybe 20 minutes, and haven't seen a staff member since. Very disappointed.

Staff was friendly, just rushed. They had a kids video playing that kept all of the kids occupied. We took our daughter for her 2nd birthday pictures and it was terrible! We normally go to the Vancouver location but we didn’t realize they were closed Tuesday so we drove out to clackamas. The photographer was very unprofessional, he had no clue how to set her up for poses. To get her attention he made fart noises and kept saying chicken butt to the point my 2 year old was repeating him. She wasn’t laughing and yet he still continued with that. He also kept calling her a trouble maker instead of referring to her with her name... to top it all off he didn’t take a single picture we liked, she wasn’t looking in most of them or she wasn’t smiling and she is a super smiley kid. We asked what if we don’t like any of them and we were told we would be charged a $30 sitting fee if we didn’t choose one. So we went with the least worst, we ended up with a picture of her smiling but her belly was hanging out... I would not recommend this location stay in Vancouver the staff is much better and actually wants to make sure you like your photos.

Horrible! We came about 10 min early. As anyone should to an APPOINTMENT... The photographer comes in after 1 pm, which was our scheduled time. She should have been ready and waiting for us, not vice versa. So that starts things on the wrong foot, customer service wise. That's just not professional. For the photographer to show up a moment late, also not cool that her Starbucks Break was more Important then my Scheduled Photo Session. They shouldn't have had us wait, should have had someone ready. So on to the Photo Session, first off she calls our name. Doesn't introduce herself. Points to a room and we go in. She has a sheet with our names and has been told 3 times. But couldn't get it straight. I never seen her smile at us once, yet she felt it was okay to make the comment that my daughter's smile was "off/weird" excuse me. Making that comment only made her upset and me upset. So it made her cry, she had to step out for a few moments. I got frustrated with her comment and her attitude and just lack of wanting to be there. The photographer sets the tone. From the beginning I told her we were using Groupon and only wanted family photos no individuals, or enhancements. That got me a real nice Glare in my Direction. If looks could kill I would have died. They seem to only care about making huge sales. Once the word Groupon comes out, you get the worst attitude, worst photo session, worst photographer, and absolutely HORRIFIC Photos. I could take better pictures with my phone. They made it clear with their attitudes from the start they weren't happy about the groupon. The shoot goes on, she can't remember names, has an attitude, is very rushed and acting annoyed. Which her attitude projects on us and really ruined the mood. Not only that she took it upon herself to delete more then half, like 75% of the shoot because she personally thought we looked weird. Well maybe we just look weird to her. But we didn't even get to choose. I was left with less then 10 shots to choose from. All Horrible. Then again they try to cram enhanced photos and other products down my throat when I made it clear from the start we were not buying extras. On top of that we had to sit and wait while she put together the enhancements and collages, WHICH I DID NOT ASK FOR, I TOLD THEM ABSOLUTELY NOT FROM THE START. I was so annoyed we just picked one pose and left. Because they weren't able to make it right and at that point the entire staff I had encountered was completely Rude, Unprofessional, Unhappy and seemed to hate their jobs. We couldn't wait to leave that place. The photographer was just a grump, and seemed to hate her job. Go get a different job! Your attitude was horrible and so were your pictures. How do these people call themselfs photographers? No better at taking pictures then my 6 year old with a cell phone. Not good with kids! First off Honey.... if you want me and my family to Smile at you. You might start by SMILING AT US! Or just get a different job. This isn't the place for someone with such bad people skills. I recommend the PicturePeople inside Sears, it's just across the mall. Wonderful Staff, Amazing photos, they print onsite. No need to drive back a second time. They were amazing at PicturePeople. JCPENNEY should really just shut down. They seemed dead, probably for good reason. I won't ever return. And I will be sure to tell anyone I know never to Get Pictures at JCPENNEY, also we closed our card account and will no longer be shopping at their store. Won't be long before JCPENNEY goes out of Business. With way better places to shop now days. These old stores need to hit the road if they can't step up their customer service game. People will just go elsewhere. Plain and Simple.

This studio overbooked appointments today. My wife and I were so disappointed. Do not bring your family to get pictures taken here unless you're ok with this studio's poor time management and poor customer service. JC Penney is going the way of Sears and the Dodo bird anyways.

This family photo session was the worst I've EVER experienced. I planned outfits accordingly and told them before the session even started exactly what we wanted, specifically stating what poses and backgrounds. Photographer was enthusiastic and very peppy but that's it. Did not pay attention to detail for example one child's hair was flipped the wrong way(completely obvious in the photo), one child's eyes were closed(again obvious in photo), very few "family pictures" and mostly pictures of the children. I seriously wanted to cry while viewing our session. Ordering was a complete mess because we kept getting different costs from employees. Ended up making our extra package purchases online and that also was a disaster. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING TO THIS STUDIO, I WILL NOT EVER RETURN FOR PICTURES HERE.

They appear under staffed and unorganized a lot of the time. When you are getting photos done it’s usually rushed. However most of the staff is very friendly and willing to try and work with you.

Great experience. Planned on going to a photo studio but our budget wouldn't allow it. So at the last minute, i called and then went in person to schedule an appointment. David was great, transparent in pricing and packages. Arrived 10 minutes early on the day of appointment, and was in back taking pictures on time. Kizzy and Chandra were really great. Chandra worked the front desk and still found time to come back and assist Kizzy in getting our 8 week old sons attention with a hand puppet. Kizzy worked hard in getting multiple looks and even when i was openly ready to go, she insisted "just one more picture", i thought that was cool. The pictures were really fantastic. My wife found this really amazing photographer near us, but the packages of our interest were between $800 - $1,600. We paid less than $200 at JCpenny and got some wonderful Christmas pictures and that included investing in their membership. Thanks again JCpenny
