Wow. Extremely impressed. Overly satisfied. Wish I came here sooner. This awesome jersey shore bar has everything and anything you could want and expect in addition to a good night out with the family. I went here with a group of people for two of our family members bdays and they were extremely accommodating and polite. We went on Wednesday night when they have line dancing and it was really a great time. I brought my 4 year old and he was happy with their kids menu . We stayed from 6:30-930 pm and all the food I had was just great. I had shrimp cocktail, Manhattan clam chowder, and the home made kettle chips which were sick!!! My husband had the coconut shrimp which were huge fresh shrimp. We stayed out side most of the time and hung out a little inside for the music and dancing. Can't say one bad thing about them!

Absolutely disgusting bar. The employees could not have been more disrespectful to my friends and I. They are completely unprofessional and rude, the bar just isn't worth it. One of my friends is 21 years old, was sober, had multiple forms of identification including a drivers license and passport, and was still not let inside. There are so many other bars down the shore that are better options; don't even bother giving this place your money. Highly recommend Djais and Boathouse as alternative options, much more fun!

Bar A has a policy where if you are getting a new license and decide to bring your passport, instead of papers you are not allowed in. Even though the boat house allows you in around the corner. Their excuse is the passport doesn’t have your eye color or height. Yet federally and state wide a passport is considered a legal identification. Anyway walked up to a cop afterwards to make sure I wasn’t crazy. He basically said since this is a private establishment they can do what they want. Just a warning.

The worst experience I ever had. I am 25 years old, but thanks to nature I look younger. I presented my NJ driver's license, among other IDs like Credit Cards, Debit Cards., and I was denied entrance. They asked me for another picture ID. So I called my mother, And she send me a copy of my USA passport. Guess what? not enough. Well, is their lost because customers like myself is what that place needs. People, I work at Bar Code in Elizabeth, NJ. That's a place where everyone gets treated with respect. Where you will have a an awesome time. I love bar A! It's a grown up party room on Fridays for happy hour from 5-715. free buffet discounted drinks our music and most over 50 years old for a few hours. It's a great time especially when I bring my meetup group here. Google Robin's Rendezvous for a chance to join my parties in all the fun adult places around. Bar a is a favorite! Summers are amazing here with a huge outside area with bands and Aqui stick playing in a couple of different locations inside and out. Google the site to find the theme night of your choice in this fun place. jeans are proper wear here as it is a very comfortable place. shorts in summer even on a Friday or Saturday night. No need to dress up just be comfortable. sneakers are allowed.

Went last night for my daughter's 21st birthday. We had a group of 12-13, some in staters and others from out of state. Everyone was carded and the out of state people had their drivers licenses scanned. One of my daughter's girl friends, who lives in state and 21 yrs old was denied entry for not having a 2nd picture id. We asked the person to scan her id and they wouldn't. We asked for management and they said they were to busy, when the line was only 5 deep. Total disrespect from the 20 yr olds towards an adult. If a valid government id cannot get you entry into this bar, maybe they need to spend additional money to hire a legitimate security detail to properly scan every id , as the 20 year olds currently working there don't know what they are doing or checking. Use to be a great place as I've been there a lot over the past several years without a problem. Won't be going back anytime soon. Totally ruined what should have been a great night for my daughter's 21st.

I'm not going to automatically 1 star a place because of a bad experience, I will be fair. Overall the place was fun and it wasn't to packed when I was there. I'd give it 5 stars but I have to take off at least 2 because I was overcharged here. I opened a tab when we got here and ordered a Budweiser and a white claw. I then went back later and ordered 2 more Budweisers. When I went to close my tab I received a check for $30. I figured it was either a mistake or the drinks were expensive. I asked and was informed each Budweiser was $5 and white claws were $6. I informed the bartender that I only ordered 4 drinks, 3 Buds, and 1 claw so it should be $21. She went to the computer and was insisting that I ordered 4 Buds. Even if it was 4 the bill should still only be $26. Regardless I didn't argue because the bartender was clearly intoxicated and I wasn't about to get kicked out and ruin the entire night for my group. Later on someone in our group mentioned that they came to Bar A one time and was told card would be a $30 minimum. I'm assuming that's what happened to me but I wish I was told that when I opened a tab. Also wish I wasn't lied to when I asked about the price. Just watch out. Other than that, fun time.

Went to this place last night. I was wearing Nike shorts and I was told to leave. They said to me “basketball shorts were not permitted” and I needed a change of clothes. On my way out, I complained while I was getting kicked out because I knew the shorts I was wearing complied with their dress code on their website. Thought it was completely unfair. This is what their website states: Short pants are permitted at all times. No extra long shorts (that fall below mid calf). No excessively low or baggy pants such that a person’s undergarments or buttocks are exposed My clothes fit that description originally. I went back a half hour later with a change of clothes, and they again kicked me out because I complained the first time. Yes, I am acknowledging that I complained on my way out the first time that annoyed the workers there. However, that is no reason to be that petty to kick me out again when I eventually wear nicer clothes and did what they said. The second time they didn’t let me in, I was sent to four cops standing outside. It was obvious they were rented cops. They started laughing in my face as soon as I was sent to them and didn’t even know why I was told to leave. All of them had no interest in hearing my situation and when I requested to speak to the bouncer and/or a manager they didn’t allow it. I wasn’t even drunk during this whole time and they told me if I didn’t leave then I’d be arrested. The whole experience was very aggravating and just completely unfair. I wouldn’t recommend going to this place to anyone after that experience — all that aggravation over a pair of shorts.

First night of a 50th class reunion went amazing. About 54 classmates and spouses came. Management and staff could not have been more accommodating. Special THANKS to a young employee "Jessie" who helped find a table inside for a classmate who became overwhelmed from the heat. Food was great and the entertainment never stopped. Great night and part two is a picnic that starts tomorrow.

I don’t have anything bad to say about this bar. It’s always been a good place to go... lots to do and drink while your there. It’s been a staple in Belmar for decades... Tuesday nights along with the weekends are very popular. The outside is open during the summer and makes it a much better experience... Local bands play all the time.

I’ve got no complaints with this bar, went for a beer tasting event they had and it was awesome. It was the first time there and it was midday. What a set up though, indoor bars, outdoor bars, a small waterfall, volleyball courts in the sand, really cool bar to. Would recommend going at least once because it’s so unique.

HORRIBLE experience, HORRIBLE service!! The managers were extremely rude and unaccommodating towards us being that we were supposed to be treated as "VIP" guests. Not only did they try kicking my friend with a wristband out of our OWN Cabana, they refused to let my LEGAL 21 year old friends in (who just happened to be of minority races) even when they gave the same form of ID that the people gave in front of them (who happened to be white). On top of that they were super hostile towards my friends and us about the whole situation that we ended up LEAVING our VIP table and went somewhere else. GO TO JOES AND BOATHOUSE. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH THE TRIP OR THE MISTREATMENT.

I had been to this bar several times before I went it on a Friday and wasn’t allowed in due to my out of state ID. There was absolutely no reason for the bouncer to not let me in other than the fact that he didn’t know how to read my ID. It was ridiculous. I had lived down the street and knew there bartender and the manager but for some reason he wouldn’t let me in. He kept asking when I graduated high school and if I had a Facebook that showed my birthdate. That didn’t even make sense to me because you can say whatever you want on social media. But long story short the bouncer was sketchy and wouldn’t let me in because he couldn’t read a valid Michigan Drivers License.

Racist, staff members had a very bad manners and attitude towards me and my girlfriend. When I asked If I could have a talk to my girlfriend who was more advance in the line then I was at the time, but not yet inside the club, one of the staff was being very rude to her and decided to kick us both out. They didnt even want to refund us. on top of making racist remarks the entire time!! I will never go to a place like this were they treat people like animals just because they feel like it. The only reason I'm even giving a STAR is because there is no lower rating then this. I'm a very easy going guy, it takes a lot to get under my skin. This bothered me a lot but I never once said anything disrespectful or raise my voice. I dont stoop that low.

Really ridiculous. They literally require more strict ID than a dmv. If you don’t have a passport or valid license you are screwed. Also their site is ridiculous they don’t accept credit cards as form of ID unless it has a photo. What credit company does that? Even the dmv accepts a credit/debit card as form of ID. Social security ? Nope not even as a secondary.

Called and asked if my dog was allowed on patio. They said no problem. So I went to bar A. Got seated in the patio area. Waitress and hostess were very nice. Than a snot nosed bouncer showed up and told me I had to leave as my food was showing up. So I will never go back there again. Bouncer was a total A-hole. Used to go there for lunch slot. Good food. But after today will never go back.

I've been going to Bar A for 19 years. As I get older, I like it even more than I did while in my 20's. The food is amazing, the executive chef truly cares about the menu, they have great specials all week long and the service is always top notch. I recommend Sunday Brunch and Monday Night 2 for 1 burgers.

Make sure you have more than one form of ID!!! Walked in with my friend the other day, a license was enough for me - however, the bouncer asked my friend for her license, credit card, and insurance card????? And then asked her 10 times if she had another form of photo ID - who normally walks around with that??? The vibe is cool and the drinks are reasonably priced. We ordered the nachos, and they were missing half of the toppings that they have listed on the menu - even the cheese!!!! They're nachos - they need cheese lol. Asked the server for a side of cheese and waited over 20 minutes for it.

This was by far the worst I’ve ever been treated at a bar. The bouncers are disrespectful, rude, egotistical, chauvinistic, entitled men who talk to patrons like they’re “less than” and not worthy of a respectful experience. I was asked to provide a second form of ID and because I didn’t have one, I was held on the side of the main line with others whom also did not have a second form of ID. Despite my willingness to comply and act in a kind, presentable manner, I was questioned, spoken down to, and ostracized. This is the second time I was treated this way, as if I were doing something criminal. I will never again be back to this excuse for an establishment in wish they treat their patrons like just another cog in the machine.

If you have never been to Bar A before, don’t hype it up because it is a terrible place to go for a night out. The first time I went with a group of people much older than me. I am 21 and they did not let me in because my drivers license was not horizontal. The security guards who work there must be pretty desperate for a paycheck because they were hyping up the situation as if I were a criminal and would not allow me entrance. I presented my college ID, credit cards, and insurance card for more validation, but still no luck. I feel bad for the security guards employed at Bar A. They must be pretty broke to not let someone of age into the venue because the drivers license isn’t horizontal and they are “performing their duty.” Don’t recommend this place AT ALL. Should be called Bar F cuz it’s a failure.

It's a standard beach bro bar with the longest line you've ever seen. The biggest anticipation is whether or not you so ever make it in. Drink specials do exist and are not terrible. Multiple different music areas with solid space. But hey, it is what it is. Put on your polo, boat shoes, and chubbies and get on out there.

Yet my brother and his friend who just turned 21 got let in with one form. I’m thinking there racist. Will be contacting better business Bureo about this. Raciest! Kicked me out for absolutely no reason, and refuse to explain why I was getting kicked out. Disrespected and got a hand shoved in my face by a grown man because I simply asked what I did to get kicked out. The man yelled raciest phrases to belittle me in front of the long line of people. The police were involved and I herd them tell the police I was being kicked out because I was "being rude" and asked to leave the property. They refuse to give me my money back. I was in tears completely humiliated, I will absolutely never go back.

Excellent Place, we'll def come back. We came to try this place for the Jersey Shore Restaurant week and the food was awesome. The owner came to greet us a few time and to ensure everything was ok. The lady that served us was very nice and sweet. great cheap bar ,live music, DJ it also have a grotto outside that you can sit at, and have the feeling of being at a nice hotel. The bar is huge 4 inside bars 2 outside . 3 on the deck and table service at the grotto . Possible can hold 750-1000 people

Wasn't allowed inside because the bouncer say my boat endorsement on my license and thought it was fake. I asked a cop and he agreed with me but I still wasn't let in. Cool.

Front bar is all locals & that is not a bad thing. Back mahogany bar a bit more upscale. Then the outside tiki & grotto area is all party time.

Make sure you bring every photo ID you’ve ever owned because if you don’t look 21 they won’t let you in. They let me in, all of my friends in, but not my friend who didn’t have another form of photo ID. First (if it even counts as that), and last time ever coming.
