Yes they serve drinks and food. But if you love movie's, foreign films, classics, silent films, indi-films, and documentary films; this is the place to be. Small theater and cozy for a date and a group of friends. Set up for hearing aids and disabled. But what I have to say, is thank you for bring us the "Infiltrators". A must see award-winning movie, thought provoking, courageous, mind changing, inspiring, and heart breaking. This is the true story of the year.
Tiny theatre. Great place. There's always a great selection of films showing here and they're doing good stuff keeping independent theatres alive!
Small independent movie house that serves beer, soft drinks and food. The popcorn is very reasonably priced. Seats are reclining but are comfortable with plenty of legroom.
Rad place to see indie films in downtown Phoenix.
Great place to see a movie
Go here! This is the place you want to go to see any and all Art House films. Anything that isn't the mainstream will be shown here and it such a cool place. Comfortable seating and they have a full bar and cool art on the walls. They have spots to lounge and talk before or after if you want to eat a little and drink and talk. It's a real cool spot.
Small place, great selection of beer, I enjoyed the hell of out the movie I watched here Saturday night.
It's a super friendly place to get a drink, even if you're alone or not planning to stay for a movie.
It's a pretty cool cozy little bar that shows corny movies and gives you popcorn. Cool concept. It's a neighborhood gem.
The Film Bar is great opportunity for a cinephile like myself to enjoy as a “counter program” to large cinema plex like AMC or Harkins theatre. I watch, on an average, 6 movies a month. And when it dawned on me that I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to watch “Booksmart” in the theatres, FilmBar was my last chance. I was blown away how convenient and easy it was to enjoy a fine glass of Malbec before I sat down to enjoy the film! The vibe to this place is stellar; perfect for a date night and/or bringing a group of people to enjoy. Service was good. ProTip: they will allow you to bring your beverages into the theatre. I didn’t get to try the award winning tamales but they look absolutely amazing!!
Great atmosphere and art work. The bartenders were great with describing the beer selection and sampling. Didnt watch a movie but next time for sure!!
This theatre is very charming and a lot of fun. Love the vibe.
I really enjoy the cozy atmosphere, the campy and cult classic movies, and the craft beer I can enjoy while watching the film.
Great atmosphere with cozy indie vibes. I am happy to support the local cinema scene.
It says the hours are 5pm till midnight but they were open at 4:57 with people already enjoying drinks at the bar. I loved this place because it only shows small release and classic films.
Always a fun adventure to visit the FilmBar! Refreshing change from the big box theaters...and Nick was awesome at the bar!
Fun place to hang catch a good movie very clean place, it's old place but very cozy and very gay friendly
Filmbar has the best movies and awesome artwork outside!
Enjoyed the Favourite one afternoon. Good beer selection and popcorn was delish. A couple patrons sharing their opinions throughout entire movie was only negative but that's not bc of the theater.
If you're looking for a laid back place to watch a B movie, cult classic, indie, or foreign film, or even sometimes a movie you *just* missed in the regular theatres, then this is the place to go. They're working on expanding their alcoholic beverage and food menu, but they do sometimes have tamales or bring out food trucks as well. Can't go wrong supporting local cinema.
Classy joint for all ages! Very relaxing ambiance with a blend of good beer and old movies. Would recommend to anyone with a little social anxiety about going to crowded bars, it's the perfect place to go for a quiet drink.
have watched two movues at filmbar on 2nd street about roosevelt, folms were good, but sitting in the back at the minitables was hard to sit for very long.
Hail Satan? one of the best documentaries I've ever seen Highly recommend this
Great experience, the staff was nice and the movie Carrie was even better on a big screen.
Fun place to watch movies and enjoy delicious tamales!
Great staff. Very friendly
Very cool experience. I could see this being part of a bigger date night. Reasonably priced popcorn and beer, I was expecting much higher.
Had a lot of fun with a unique experience.
I have been twice so far, love it, so refreshingly different from the cineplex. So far documentary and cult movie great,I will be going back soon
Great experience every time I go
I don't make it to FilmBar nearly as much as I should. Phoenix is so lucky to have such a unique, community-focused indie cinema right downtown. Tip: If you've never been, keep an eye on the Film Series Events page on their website. Find something you like, put it on your calendar, and make a date of it. You won't regret it.
Great local theater with tasty drinks and bites! Support your local movie theaters!
We love this place. Owner and staff are excellent. We are here at least once a month and have never had a bad experience. And the tamales are to die for. Please give this place a try and support local small businesses.
Very nice and quant place... The Staff is very nice in a genuine kind of way...
We just stopped for a drink and movie popcorn. I loved the decor!! The sangria was great!!
I love this place. It's a small theater that plays the coolest movies.
Interesting little movie spot and great tamales!
So I read on FB that film bar was opening at 7:00 AM and giving away free beer from Jalisco's for the womens world cup championship this AM.... And it was true!!! And it was great!!! And USA won. F*"k yeah!
What a great place! Great ambiance and excellent movies.
Pretty cool atmosphere, not many places like it. Worth checking out if your downtown and don't have any plans.
Great little indie film house. Friendly staff. Highly recommend
Tamales are really good and the ambiance of the place is nice. Good atmosphere to watch a film, as it is never truly crowded
A really nice and intimate place to see some mainstream or Independent films. Highly recommend. And there is a real bar there ha ha.
This place is great. I was taken here before my birthday today and the style and movie I saw fit so well with one another. I loved it and will definitely be back again!
Film Bar is one of the last spots that I've seen in Phoenix that defies the gentrification that's happening around it. An organic space with a good selection of wine and beer that you can go to, sit at the bar, and chat about the art of film.
I love the quirkiness of Filmbar's movie selection. There's always something playing to pique your interest. The theater is intimate, like a home theater, as my husband remarked on our first trip there. Parking is a struggle, but metered parking is free after 10pm, which is perfect for a late show. I love that there's a membership program to save money on tickets and earn points for free tickets. Just an all around great place for a night out!
I don’t usually rate movie theaters but this is a super chill place with good beers in the ‘hood. Keeping it real in Phoenix.
Celebrated a bday here, awesome experience!
Cool place to watch a movie and have drinks.
Me and my wife LOVE Filmbar! They have a fantastic diverse list of movies and fun events like sing-a-longs and lectures. Amazing tamales served at the bar and grab a beer or wine to wash it down. Nice lounge area for hanging out before or after the movie. Only minus - the popcorn isn't very good lol
First time I've been to this place it's not real elegant for the cost but the event was good and the people were very friendly.
If you want a unique experience check this place out. Food selection isn't great, there are tamales and popcorn but there are some cool beers and wines to choose from. The atmosphere was very cool with random pictures of celebrities and it just felt as if it were run by a bunch of art students who think they are better than us. Very fun experience.
Great atmosphere, good popcorn, fun spot for a unique date.
Cool spot very cozy and can get warm but neat experience
Been here a few times. Several years ago I found a jazz band in the lounge/lobby. The theatre is small but perfect. They have food and lots of drink options. They also have events and a variety of movies. If looking to turn your movie into more of an experience, this is a great place to be.
Great little indie movie house. Decent selection at the bar. Concession prices are a bit high for some items (but not unreasonable) but low for others. Great line-up of classic films from big-name hits (Halloween) to B- and C-List cheese-fests. Definitely worth the price of admission.
Filmbar is a great spot to just hang out and have a beer or watch great independent cinema, or both!
Cool atmosphere! Been here a couple times over the last few years. Only downfall is it's a little pricey!
Fun little hipsterish place with neat art and contributions to aspiring artists. I hear the tamales are amazing and the beer portions are great for the price.
Very cool little place, imagine your local pub has some equipment from an older movie theater and they're playing smaller niche films with a lot of character.
I went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was fun! The place shows an interesting choice of indie and foreign movies and fun musicals singalongs. Everybody was kind, the beer was good.
The film + brew selection here is great, but let me tell you what (or rather WHO) is even greater here: The staff. I was going to propose to my girlfriend here with a "documentary" I had made. I was going to screen it here and have several of our close friends to join us. Andrea and the team were SO ACCOMMODATING with my questions and requests. They helped me work within my budget and gave me ideas to make it an even more special occasion. While I ended up having to move the proposal to California for family reasons, I have never had a warmer or more welcoming customer service experience than I have with the good people at FilmBar. <3 Definitely come here for the brews/films, but also DEFINITELY BOOK AN EVENT HERE.
Seating inside and out, two unisex bathrooms, they only sell wine and beer, tamales and popcorn, need more variety on drinks and food. Had a discussion before the movie, has seating with tables in the theater. Overall a good experience not great though.
A hidden gem next to Cobra Arcade. I enjoyed the indie film about Toni Morrison and look forward to coming back. I like the smaller vibe and laid back presence it had.
I loved the cat movie I saw here! We need more of these little places! Cozy and great for a date night!
THE BEST IN PHOENIX... Especially for cult classics!!!
super cool place with nostalgic movies :)
Amazing movie theater. Staff were polite and passionate about the theater and the films shown. I saw Pick of the Litter and Frankenstein. Before Frankenstein a history teacher and film buff gave the audience some facts about the movie and the genre which was super cool and the audience was really cool to be around. The guy who spoke also had an adorable dog who was just so well behaved. I would highly recommend this place. They have a great selection of beer as well!
Cute little theater. Awesome into from a host before the film began.
Cute little place. An undiscovered gem. Aside from being a Monday night cant see why this place wasn't packed. There's not much good going elsewhere so people need to get here and spread the w pop red about supporting local owned businesses. We'll definitely be back.
It’s always a good time at FilmBar. They play everything from classic movies to cult classic movies to new releases. For someone who doesn’t enjoy big crowds, FilmBar is perfect for me. The bartenders are always super sweet and it’s just a great experience overall.
One of the rare gems left in downtown Phoenix. If you are looking to get away from the usual box office cash grab then this place is definitely for you.
If you haven't yet, you must try the Film Bar experience!
A Very cool unique place I like the vibe there beer is decent I do wish they had liquor
Best place to see a flick! Very small with a vintage vibe. Very cool workers.
FilmBar is a blast for any movie. It's especially great for old reruns or what I would consider "cult" movies though (new or old). Cozy atmosphere and always has a nice selection of drinks.
Fun place that shows classic movies to obsure themed movies. The theater is cozy and very comfortable.
Love the movie and the bar very underground style very cool Sunday spot
