Wow. What a gem. We had a great Mke weekend thanks to some of the spectacular pieces,we saw at this museum. The modern section in particular was stunning. Also, views of the lake from the bright atrium are reason enough to make a stop.

Kattie Jankowski

I took my children on a free day not sure if this was going to go well.or not. I like to say it did. Very beautiful and the staff was so help full and the knowledge with the art work made more amazing about the pieces. The children did some of their own art work. The museum have projects for the kids based on a piece they have on display. Very beautiful and amazing.

Raven Jaxsnerdymommy

The MAM is the crowning jewel of Milwaukee. When you finally have the time to stand in front of the museum you will be able to take in the majesty of the architecture. I highly recommend a stop at the museum. Also go to a MAM After Dark event, they are great events for networking.

Christin Basham

There is always something new here, the galleries are changed and art is shuffled regularly so it always feels like a new experience. The contemporary gallery is one of the best i've seen. The Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit keeps me coming back every First Free Thursday. The architecture is divine, the setting over the lake is extraordinary. As a former resident of Indianapolis, i am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Robert Indiana's LOVE sculpture. A historical piece of art, full of memories for people across the globe. The MAM is one of the best art museums in the country. Hands down, you will not be disappointed. Lockers for personal items cost a refundable $.50 btw!

Tyler Petrusczak

The Milwaukee photo exhibit was nice to see. A glimpse of the past of such a wonderful city.

Ray Stevens

Absolutely stunning architecture with a plentiful variety of modern and other art. Incredible location on the lake. Cafe food is first rate as well.

Elif Asar

Very special place. Considerably big museum for a small city like Milwaukee. There are free (after admission fee) walk in tours at 11am and 2pm. The tour took approximately 1 hour. Highly recommended.

Katherine Carter

Worth the time! Its not the largest collection of art but the museum itself is stunning, what they have is worth seeing, and there is plenty to do for the kids.

Norma Reyes

I loved it. The art exhibits and activities for children to make their own art are wonderful. Will love to visit again in the future.

Dawn Alter

We love the Art Museum and are fortunate to have such a beautiful facility in our city! We visit at least a few times per year. Our daughter is in an art program through her school in partnership with MAM and she gets to visit as part of this program called the Junior Docent program. It's really opened her mind to the world of Art. We also enjoy going to the Kohl's Art Generation Studio to make our own art. That's one of my favorite parts of the museum!

Terry Hutchings

Great variety of artists. The building itself is such a marvel. They honor Vets with free admission and their friend, that was totally appreciated. It's a must see for anyone visiting Milwaukee.

Lisa Sutherland

I've been here a couple of times and had a great time. The building is a piece of art in and of itself and is right on the water. The focus seems to be on modern art although there are a fair share of exhibits showcasing old relics. It is quite spacious and the artworks are beautifully curated.

Nicholas Raines

Amazing place for the whole family.

Tom W

A moderately sized city museum with a fairly diverse collection. A great place to spend a morning or afternoon enjoying the art, and a lovely location next to the lake enhances the experience.

Allyn Albritton

Absolutely gorgeous! A great visit for locals and tourists alike. Even those who aren't traditionally art fans will appreciate the collection and even the architecture.

Selina Kanowitz

Well worth going. The wings open at 10a, close at 12p, open when the museum closes. It's quite a phenomenon.

Michael Christenson

Beautiful variety of art and history.

Oleg Somov

This art museum itself is a masterpiece. It looks like a spaceship and has an outstanding modern design. Great lake views. Recommend visiting. One of the "must have"s when you're in Milwaukee!

Clayton Goff

I was visiting Milwaukee last week due to my work. As I had one day off I decided to hit the art museum. It was definitely worth visiting!! I was astonished by the architectural concept of the main building. Beautiful!

Chaz Runner

Excellent presentation of a wide variety of artwork in an edifice that is an architectural gem...a must-see.

Rachael Andrea Jalbuena

Beautiful one of a kind structure! The wings open at around 10am with the museum, and flap at noontime, then close when the museum closes. Worth seeing!

Eeowyn McLaren

Have A membership because its a beautiful building, amazing exhibits, current and temporary. Gift shop is cool, restaurant has more unique food so if your looking for McDonald's type food, you won't find it here. You can look at the menu online though before you come. Great location too, Betty Brinn children's museum right across the way, shopping and parking close by too!

t kin

Great selection with a variety of interesting pieces. You could easily spend 4 hours here if you wanted to see everything, so bring comfortable shoes!

Alan Guillen

The staff is helpful and their collection is bigger and better than what I expected. Great view a the lake, too.

Teresa Young

I have always had a lovely time at MAM. The grounds are a beautiful place along the lake for a walk, and the pedestrian bridge over Lincoln Memorial Drive is one of my favorite viewpoints in downtown Milwaukee. The photography exhibit (Portrait of Milwaukee) that runs until March 1, 2020 was especially intriguing, as was the James Nares that ends very soon. The Salvatore Calatrava design at the museum is breathtaking.

Drew Rushmer

Not only is Calatrava's architecture incredible, it's also extremely inviting and empowering. To step inside is to feel as though you are perched on the edge of some fantastical voyage; the building gives the impression of being a beautiful and futuristic yet still classic ship of some kind. The art within makes good on the architecture's implicit promise of movement by providing the journey. The docents/guards were all very polite and very helpful: they have gone out of the way to accommodate me, both by providing me with a wheelchair when necessary and with information about the Museum's collection including but not limited to the location of specific pieces.

Sebastian W

Love it here, been probably 9-10 years since I been, so nice.

Terry Kn

Great selection just wanted more folk art!

Brian King

Spectacular modern wing by Calatrava opens it's roof like butterfly wings. Superb collection of modern art. Kandinsky, Chagall, Picasso, Frankentaler; Fine Egyptian items especially a portrait painted on sarcophagus. Excellent restaurant is like being inside a modern boat sculpture. Food is quite good. Nice gift shop.

Don

The place to go whether you are a resident or visitor! Fine Milwaukee art, and the option to create your own if you desire. Speak to the curator and visit with some of the local artists. Take your time in the museum and enjoy every cranny of it, or you might find the venture boring. Each piece represents something unique and typically holds a "story" within it. Easy to read the book. After visiting the museum, either dine there or at a local cafe nearby. Very relaxing atmosphere.

adeyemo adekunle

The architectural deisgn is a master piece with a beautiful atrium, the water front View is exquisite. The art works on a display is educative and a pleasure to see. You will enjoy you visit, hope to visit again

jungwook kim

Amazing place to see! A Must visiting place in Milwaukee??!! Great archetecture building makes your eyes refresh and staying inside the art building is even better. Many different sections in the main level and other level as well. Thanks to pretty much different era of arts, most of people will be satisfied with. If weather is good like summer, spending time outside would be great as well.

A Freeman

The Milwaukee Art Museum is excellent. To me as a layperson it seems world class. Beautiful artwork, some historic pieces and overall incredible design. It's easy to get to, inexpensive, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Techie

Absolutely amazing. Always new pieces. The security is a little.... Hovering, makes you feel uncomfortable. But besides that the staff is quite inviting. The facilities are modern and well kept. Everything is clean and simplistic while maintaining a beautiful aesthetic.

Keith Auer

The art is just amazing, they have many different styles of at and it's so much fun to look at. The architecture of the building is magnificent. The unfolding roof makes it look as modern on the outside as it feels on the inside.

Meryl Williams

This building is a work of art in itself. Absolutely breathtaking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a must for anyone visiting Milwaukee.

Lorand Gömöri

Great place with Italian touch. Not the coffee, that is pure poison there

Constantin Ciocan

It looks gorgeous. In and out.

Mike Varney

Nearby parking, beautiful lakeside location, many generations of art including industrial furniture

Jason Ross

One of the coolest art museums I've visited. Highly recommend!

Giselbert Parkhurst

Magnificent architecture. The wings, the bridge, the glass windows. Photos don't do the place justice. Admission is not free but if you're not afraid of heights, go up onto the bridge at no cost and take some beautiful pics.Parking garage located underground.

Kate Underwood

Out first visit and it was fantastic. Wide, open galleries and plenty of varied exhibits, and even special items kids can check out to use while exploring the museum! We used our WI teacher ID to get in free as well!

Andrew Moore

Stellar construct and the lake view is nice on a warm summer's day. Pretty hefty art collection!

Daniel Dumont

Good mixture of different arts, however medium sized museum with a relatively high admission. Nice architecture amd location though.

Christopher Casadonte

Beautiful location. Designed in part by a talented family member.

Artiom Necrasov

Great museum. If you want to see everything there, you'll need at least 5-6 hours. Gray contemporary art section. Cafe had many tasty healthy options.

Remote Tech Projects

Must do & see!! A slice of surprisingly wonderful architecture rises from the shore of Lake Michigan to greet you as you approach Milwaukee's lakefront. Its bigger than you'd expect inside and their collection is vast enough to bring you back for multiple visits. The kids loved it.

Rick Langlois

Easy to reach, easy to park underground, easy to walk around in. I had wanted to see the building for a long time and got my chance when I was passing through the city unexpectedly - and without any deadlines. I was *highly impressed* with the collections! They have wonderful pieces in their permanent collection and the traveling/temporary exhibits were interesting and very well done. The levels and seemingly endless galleries were well laid out and easy to follow and every turn held amazing pieces of artwork. It was a real pleasure for me to visit and I will be sure to return soon. I have been in Art museums in a number of countries around the world and the Milwaukee Art Museum was every bit as interesting as any I've seen. If you like art museums do yourself a make a visit. I enjoyed the modern art section. The Art and Design section and the traditional old European art and craft sections. I did not try out the cafe.

Christy Siebers

Always such a joy to visit. We’ve been members for years now and we try to go once a month. There’s always something new to discover with the rotation of exhibits. We even got engaged here so the art museum has a very special place in our hearts.

Jeremy John

An art museum that is beautiful on the inside and out, with great views of the lake. A nice place to visit, even if you don't look at the art. There is a place in the museum you can but food and beverages like coffee, and then sit and look at the lake. Beautiful. Enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend.

Janette Rodriguez

This is a great museum, housed in a beautiful building, a true architectural gem. Come for a short trip or stay a little longer an enjoy the view of the lake.

Katherine Elliott

Was here for Art and Bloom, Beautiful! Not 1 single negative. I've never been let down, no matter what exhibit or what might be going on... Highly recommended if you want an enjoyable experience.

M Borrus

Gorgeous. Yummy cafe. Beautiful art. Amazing building. Go when the wings work. Steep prices, especially for students.

Steve Wellenstein

Went to the Lakefront Festival of the Arts at the Museum this weekend. The art show was fantastic. The amount of talented artist they bring in is truly amazing. Besides the artist you get access to the Museum and they have bands, beverages, food and activities for children. Our kids love it they have had experiences they will cherish. The artist are all in a covered tent on concrete so viewing and access is easy, even for my parents who also came. This is more than an art show.

Heather Antczak

I love this museum. It's a good deal to become a member, you get discounts on parking at the museum and across the street. And at all the cafes and gift shops in the museum as well.

Michael Wolverton

Great parking garage, walking distance to children's museum.

Kerry Elaine

The MAM After Dark series is a ton of fun. The Museum is beautiful and in a great Lake Michigan waterfront location.

Volha Siarheichyk

The building itself is a work of art! You can see it from a long distance and it looks so atmospheric (especially at the night time)! The inside is as beautiful as the outside. And the art collection is really good as well! I loved the glass exhibition (not sure if it was temporary or permanent). It was totally worth the visit!

Alexia Tillman

Such a cool building and a lovely collection. Well curated. A real treat to visit. Good food in the cafe as well. And a nice gift store!

Daniele Nelson

Great place for the entire family. I just wish people with large vehicles would not park in the compact car area. It is sometimes very hard to get on our car.

james slade

This place was astonishing, the personnel were fantastic, nice, and fast at their jobs, and the quality of the arts is amazing, they have newer pieces, old pieces, historic pieces, and extremely interesting pieces, sometimes all together! Great family place to go!

Krystine Lange

If you're in the area, you must visit. This art museum is my favorite out of 38th States' Art museums and deserves a visit. You should go for the architectural miracle but stay for the fantastic range of artwork.

marion niedringhaus

Fantastic place to visit. Just big enough, but not too overwhelming. On the water, with a very good cafe and enough variety in the art exhibits to keep you occupied all day. I visit each time I come to town! I love the beautiful white, clean architecture!

John Hefter

This is where I renew my life's vision and energize my hope for humankind. Church attendance and art museum visits have much in common - so very restorative.

Fredricka Harrison

found out how disgusting the event service is ran from an employee who worked there. she told me everything about horrible unsanitary practices and poor management. they rip off their private event clients.

Donald Cooke

Wow, what a Gem! Gorgeous structures, spectacular art. Superb setting on the lake. Don't miss it.

Daniel Bond

Building itself is a work of art, but the collection is full of modern gems.

Sarah Ozurumba

Family friendly and free on the first Thursday each month, there's something for everyone!

Whitney Booth

The Milwaukee Art Museum is picturesquely located on the shore of Lake Michigan. Parking is convenient and easily accessible. The art collection is varied and impressive - everything from ancient cultures to old masters to Impressionism to modern art. They have an interesting exhibits on chairs and toys too.

Josef hutchinson

This is the first museum I've visited that's had a Norman Rockwell painting. Didn't expect this! What a bonus! Not an admirer of their vast abstract collection. You'll spend plenty of time here if you want to fully absorb all of the wonderful works of art offered up.

Rory Griffin

It was an awesome place to visit but did not like the fact that my wife was approached because she was feeding our three month babies in the lower level no where near the art... They are babies not toddlers running with cops of juice

Udont Nomi

Fun experience, never really that much time to see everything.

Robert J. Kreckel

Amazing structure both inside and out. A good variety of art that take you a few hours to really enjoy all of it!

Eva Rodriguez

Great museum and very easy to walk through. My kids enjoyed it as well. Architecture of the building is very pleasing to the eye.

Ada Hanson

We spent 3 hours and could probably have spent another 3 looking at everything. Add more time if you want to read everything too. We got through the whole main floor and saw most of the 3rd. There is good representation of art styles and of varying ages throughout the years. We were lucky and came right at the opening and saw the wings go up while on the pedestrian bridge out front. They play music meanwhile and it just made the whole experience almost magical. Beautiful building, all the way down to the parking lot underneath. No details were missed in it's creation.

Sandra Markham

Awesome archetecture. Great view of Lake Michigan. Spent about two & a half hrs here & needed more. Kept finding more rooms full of interesting & diverse art.

Arthur Johnson

Very nice. Elaborate. Well laid out.

Desislava Mileva

Looooved it! The views to the lake, the personnel are all great! People around there have different attitude, different energy - a positive one. Or because I live in Chicago it seems that way to me, regardless, i love it and would love to visit again!

Steve Kummer

I always appreciate this place when I come here. When they added the bird wing building, it has become a nice exhibit space. All of the artwork here is amazing, except the abstract stuff - just plain stupid and uninspired. Still a nice place to visit on the Lakefront.

mike wester

Went on the free Thursday sponsored by Meijer. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Place is more beautiful in person than in photos. Parking can be purchased below the museum otherwise there's metered parking on the streets.

Anthony DeVito

While many people see Milwaukee as a "blue collar town", seeing us as more unsophisticated types, we actually have a very well-curated art museum that you should try and get to at least once in your life. The building itself, called the "Calatrava Building", won an award for its structural design. It is also positioned perfectly next to Lake Michigan giving many stunning photo opportunities in the exterior alone. Inside, the museum is just as fabulous. It is a rather large art museum, so plan plenty of time if you wish to experience everything (I recommend a minimum of 3 hours). They allow pictures everywhere which is great. They have several sections from modern art to classical Dutch art and their collections are rotated regularly. They also have an incredible main exhibit at any given time, with my two favorites being about the idea of "play" in mid-century modern design and the art of comic books from the golden and silver ages of comics. This speaks to the accessibility of the museum itself where even the layman can come and gain a greater appreciation of art without feeling condescended to.

girlscout

Always fun and interesting. Love the food and view.

Heman Gharibnejad

As I am sure everyone would say, the greatest art work here is the amazing architectural building of Santiago Calatrava. It is worth just going inside in the lobby for a quick visit without paying for entrance. The items inside are an eclectic mix, the modern art is the most amusing part. The classics are a bit second class.

Anthony Yang

Beautiful building with an amazing collection of art.

Frank-No-More

MAM music after dark needs a sub. Imo but awesome event on the lakefront showcasing the best Milwaukee has to offer.

Robin Magnuson

Amazing building with interesting art inside!

Erika Lagunas

Even though we weren't able to go inside of the museum since it was closed, but the outside was so amazing and had so many sculptures and a beautiful scenery.

Robin Fox

This place was incredible. The building was amazing and then the art inside was a great collection of many, many styles of art.

Dale Sanderson

1st class Art Museum. Outstanding architecture.

Alan Wagner

Excellent art collection in an amazing architectural space on the waterfront. Many great food options.

Frannie Johnson

This is a must see when visiting Milwaukee. It's beautiful inside and out. Enjoy viewing art and beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Amazing and knowledge staff.

Carleda Tinkler

Beautiful exhibits in a georgeous setting right on Lake Michigan. Many diverse exhibits from historical art to contemporary artists and designers from the 20th century and current. Rotating exhibits make it continually addictive.

John May

Had a great experience at the MAM. Stopped by the Nares curated gallery and was actually browsing the collection right behind the artist herself. Super cool. The rest of the Museum is phenomenal as well.

John Epp

If you love art, definitely worth a visit. Loved the old and dusties, as well as some of the modern art. The building is also quite beautiful. The views out of the building are also amazing. Spend the whole day there and just enjoy the experience.

Shahariar R Ullah

Cool architecture on the bank of lake Michigan. A must visit place in Milwaukee!

Marty Christensen

Super wonderful annual outdoor, tent art fair. I doir collection is extensive wonderful works. A must see

Jackson Green

Beautiful bay-side art museum, shaped like a sail, it houses classic and contemporary art alike!

Chris Cozen

The museum has an excellent eclectic colection housed in an amazing building which sits right on Lake Michigan. Calatrava's architectural addition is exquisite.

serenity mason

I loved it. Very beautiful pieces of art. It’s worth the money. Positive vibes

Roo Sanchez

It's a master piece in itself. Enjoyed the MAM after dark evening hosting old school hip hop and NYC themed event. Looking forward to more of these events.

s pags

A true gem of MKE. The building itself, set upon the Lake Michigan coast, is an artful work itself. The rotating events are captivating, the established collections are varying and impressive, and there’s underground, climate-controlled parking, as well. Truly worthy of a membership.

QBall

This is one of the best art museums i have ever been to. I do plan on re-visiting this museum because of how much the arts intrigue me here. I give this place a 5 stars for its beauty in all. The food isnt the greatest, but hey its a museum and not a restaurant lol.

Jessica Hutson

Even the parking garage is beautiful. The layout is an absolute maze but I think given time may make sense. I loved the selection and size and staff. Being next to the lake with huge windows was a big bonus. Gorgeous museum. My only negative was walking into the cafe around half an hour before stated close to find it completely empty. I waited for a hostess or server but when none showed I headed out to eat elsewhere

Roger Cameron

Great place , need 2 days to see all, great senery, vets get in free

Martin Hoffman

Great facility, inspired architecture, world class collection and friendly staff. Activities for children and adults. Loved it!

Carl O'Neil

Beautiful building, great exhibits! Came at opening to watch the wings/sail thing open... It was funny, much ado... Nice gift shop but the center display cases take up most of the space... Nice little cafe. Nice nooks to sit and look at Lake Michigan. We came on the first Thursday of the month (Free!) paid for parking under the museum. The whole place feels very scandanavian. Next time I'll bring the bicycles and go for a ride on the trail behind the museum and right on the lake. Easy freeway access, zipped in and out of town no problem.

Hannah DuBois

By far one of the coolest buildings in all of Milwaukee. Definitely with watching the wings open and close at least once. There is an art room open everyday for kids and a children's exhibit as well.

Michelle Pryor

Beautiful to go to in your looking for a nice day of art things to do and great for out of towners to go there for site seeing right down sitting on the lakefront. Also wives/Girlfriend's and kids can enjoy a art museum while husbands/boyfriends with their son's can go fishing right outside of the art museum. Has a cafe as well.

Kate Sanders

Full of excellent art. I love to come here and I highly recommend it.

Brandy Hudgins

Hands down one of my favorite places. There is absolutely so much to see that you could spend an entire day here. Plan appropriately!

Rose Shrum

On my way out of Milwaukee to fly back to Washington State, decided to stop at the museum. It was wonderful, so much to see and enjoy. There is parking or you can park across the street in the public parking garage. Prices for the museum are fair. Hours are 10AM to 5PM.

Max Abrams

Incredible building and equally incredible collection and curation. One of the best art museums in the world.

Patrick Villacorta

One of the reasons I considered visiting Milwaukee. I'm not much of an art fan so I only wanted to see the building (sorry). Visiting the building also led us to explore the excellent waterfront. The museum itself has its own parking lot but we went with street parking across the bridge on Wisconsin/Prospect Ave since we weren't staying too long. It was also late in the afternoon so parking would become free at 6pm. We didn't have trouble finding a spot on a Monday.

Amy Cardin

Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Natalie Kruzz

A nice museum overlooking Lake Michigan. When we were here, a wedding reception was being held.

Janice Lynch

Love this place. Initially I was hesitant on going because of the cost but it's really worth it. It's a gorgeous museum inside and outside and if you haven't noticed, it's designed by the same architect that designed the Oculus in NYC (!). The art here is wonderful and you can wander around for one to a few hours depending on how much you want to see and how fast/slow you want to go. They have all different kinds of art- sculptures, modern art, glass art, photography, Renaissance and Enlightenment Art. There's really a whole bunch. If you went I'm sure you will find something appealing and of interest to you. It's a great museum, and I'm really glad I went.

debasis satapathy

One of the best landmarks in Milwaukee, the art museum is excellent, it has nice views of the Lake Michigan, they have a discovery place besides, parking is plenty underground and on the next door, a bit further down the road is another cheaper parking stop. Could easily spend a couple of hours there. The place isn't very crowded most of the time except on summer weekends.

Bob Young

We did not have enough time here. Come when you have all afternoon. Worth the cost and parking hastles.

Maurice McCutcheon

For my 19 years in milwaukee the art musuem hasn't changed much but im satisfied enough to renew my yearly membership. They have amazing special showings of famous art from all around the world. One could even assume the MAM is a top tier art museusm in the u.s.. for how big milwaukee is the MAM is a great resourceful for art students and art hobbyists. MAM is my favorite landmark in milwaukee. P.s the wings don't always open or close when they are suppossed to lol. Its worth buying a membership beause you get free admission with it and i think its outrageous that it cost 17.50 for an adult ticket but barely anthing changes, when new things are shown they are usually only shown for a short time, and you have to pay separately for the special art shows. Overall, Its worth the experience- the architecture, the art selection, and the scenery displayed by the huge windows will give you a life-long memory.

Bryan Christensen

Looks awesome. Very nice Art museum

Sterling Knox

I recommend you buy the membership, it's not much more than tickets.

N. J. S.

It has been a couple of years since my last visit to the Milwaukee Art Museum. When I do get to Milwaukee this is one of my favorite walks along Lake Michigan. When I do have time, you can spend an hour to an hour and half walking the exhibit hall. I need to go back soon and find a new art work favorite. Enjoy.

SeFok Chan

Museum by the lake front. The paintings collection is so so. The exhibition of modern designs are the most interesting part of the museum. The glass collection highlighted by a Chihuly glass sculpture is also very good. The modern wing is a wonderful architectural design providing a great venue for a events.

georges dib

This place is really mesmerizing! If you're interested in old artistic pieces more than modern art, you can head straight to the end of the museum. I spent four hours there without noticing. Three stories full of artistic pieces, some more interesting than others, but definitely worth going. Don't miss it! My favorite was the open suitcase on the floor, it has a twist, make sure to take a look from all angles

Lyla Yates

Great pieces ,very unique pieces! Great price! Very friendly staff

Peter Kilburn

Truly a beautiful museum with some fantastic exhibits, fun for the entire family.

Bonnie Wentzel

Beautiful place. Allow yourself lots of time, you'll need it. Lovely place overlooking the lake.

Sean O'Neill

Chicagoan here. Great art museum up North. AI and MOMA are tops, but MAM is right up there. Anyone who has one of Gerhard Richter's best abstract oils on display gets a thumbs up in my book. Museum is not large or as expansive as others, but it represents a serious affinity for the contemporary. Building design is incredible. Give Milwaukee props for this exhibition space.

Allyce Zim

What a wonderful museum. Gorgeous architecture. A large variety of galleries. My 6 year old son loved it even. The art studio was very fun. We created 2 pieces of art. It is expensive to get it. I need to check if it is a reciprocal membership partner. It was not too bad for us to go because kids 12 and under are free. It has many decades since I went to an art museum. The price may be normal. Great staff. Students get $2 discount. Teachers and military get in free.

Jeffrey Folino

We have never visited Milwaukee and were pleasantly surprised with this amazing museum. We chose to become family members, and will need to make another visit to see the rest of the museum. It'll be worth the trip from upstate NY.

Rosalind Chambers

It's historical, full of fantastic and interesting pieces. You don't have to know alot about art to enjoy it. There's contemporary, modern, classical, photographs, paintings and artifacts. There really is something for everyone. They have 2 or 3 cafes. The museum itself, architecturally, is a Calatrava sculpture. Great surprising views of the Lake Michigan from inside and outside of the museum. Membership prices can accommodate any budget. M T W F SAT SUN 10 - 5 TH 10-7 Discount parking w/ membership otherwise $7 After, there is opportunity to walk, people watch and eat right at the lake front.

Jasmine Sayavong

Yesterday (10/3/19) , at around 1 PM, I was jogging by the lake (near the Baumgartner East Entrance), there were kids up on the roof throwing things at me. They purposely aimed it at me because I heard them talking about it. I almost got hit twice. Why should people have to worried that they might get hit by something when jogging near this building? We shouldn't have to...

Paul Malinka

Nice museum with things to do for kids.

Anonymous 84

This place was amazing the view is just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen it overlooks Michigan Lake right behind the art museum

R S Q

Excellent venue for a wedding. My son was married there August 4th 2019

Jamie Barth

The architecture here is terrifically reflective of the surrounding area. The art inside is curated so very well to the space. The property itself looks out onto the lake. We were fortunate to enjoy a gorgeous early fall afternoon. This is a real delight!

M Coogan

The entranceway alone is worth the price of admission. It's all white and makes a bold statement as it welcomes you in. As far as the art goes, you'll be dazzled by the Andy Warhol soup cans, which are original ones, a Rothko and a Picasso to name a few. Worth going to see all the these priceless works of art even if you're not an art historian.

Cathy M

Very cool. The wings opening was special.

Barry Bernstein

This is one of the best things to see in Milwaukee. The design is outstanding with Lake Michigan as it’s backdrop. Then there is the artwork inside and more architectural beauty. You can see modern art and art of the masters. Don’t miss this museum. By the way, we became members! Almost a thousand views and only a couple of “LIKES”?

Bruce Heilbrun

We went to the Annual Meeting, which was fun and enlightening. The food was very average and charging for soda was not appropriate. Probably won't attend again. It wasn't like they were serving food for 500. Maybe 60 or 70. The museum event planner should learn two things. 1. Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten! 2. Under promise and over deliver!

Mahir Zeynalov

I wouldn't imagine that a small town like Milwaukee would have such an amazing art museum with a wide collection. I especially love Renaissance and Enlightment art so it was particularly appealing to me. Sculpture masterpieces such as a Greek athlete (dating back as far as 4 century BC I guess) and an Egyptian king coffin were exceptional. Modern art and self-taught art were also big.

Doug T

Great venue for a large conference event.

Beautiful building. Limited selection of art. Nice cafeteria with terrific views

Absolutely beautiful iconic building on the west shore of vast Lake Michigan. The museum is well built and decorated with simplicity but is rich in seriousness. Admission fee is $19 plus $7 for up to two hours parking. A must-go place in Milwaukee.

Great art in a quiet place on a Wednesday except for a loud womens' group in gallery of an opening day exhibit.

Jeremiah Fields

The architecture itself is almost as impressive as the artwork within. There was a good assortment of modern art and older art. Definitely worth the trip.

Excellent art here. The best part about this is all the diffrent creativity there is. Young artists and old artists share there most intense art piece's which is really a nice wonder. Truly mind remembering when young artists spread there greatest pieces around the city and here at the museum.

Watching the wings on the museum raise up at opening time was really kind of cool to watch. The lobby area (seen in the picture posted) is mesmerizing as you stare up and then lose your balance. There were actually a lot of cool displays to see. We probably spent 2-3 hours just wandering around this place.

To be honest I didn't expect much when coming here. I mean, considering the Art Institute of Chicago is only 1 and half hours away. But I was pleasantly surprised here. To begin with, the architecture both exterior and interior were amazingly brilliant. The art display were best described as very interesting: classic European and American, minimalist genre of paintings and sculptures, and a good selection of folk arts and art bruts (which were my favorite) and Haiti arts. Overall amazing experience here.

For art lovers, the place is amazing. For non-art lovers, the ambience is great, just the tour is a bit tiring. You can relax by Lake Michigan after touring the place. There is paid parking across the road. I'm not sure if the museum has it's own parking or not.

A group of us attended MAM, which we enjoyed so much! Such a great crowd of folks, different cultural backgrounds and different ages. The venue is gorgeous especially if you've never had the opportunity to check it out before. There was a cereal bar, drink stands, a cafe, and tons of tables to create and or craft your own art, and a few benches with two TV's setup to play Mario Cart with friends or others attending the event. Of course there were tours to take you through the gallery on display and there were a few vendors comprised of local artists and Goodwill! I would totally recommend you come check it out, you won't be disappointed

It’s nice if you can park

Never gets old! Good customer service, amazing pieces, and great view!

Paige Vanderbok

Was not super impressed. Most of the work was modern or contemporary. While they had a decent selection it overran the whole museum. If you're into that kind of work you will probably enjoy your experience here. I like to see a little bit more variety, especially the older stuff. Will likely not return.

Building is amazing, right on the lake, a cool art museum. The building was used in the Transformers movie! When we were there they were having a wedding by the large glass wall overlooking Lake Michigan and it was so cool! Convenient parking is directly under the building and there are walkways leading to the scenic lake front.

Just the building itself is worth the stop over. The wings open and close throughout the day. Cheap parking near by.

We went to the unveiling of the LOVE exhibit and it was wonderful!
