REVIEWS OF Alison's Relocations Inc IN Alaska

It was a huge decision when deciding who you will have move all of your worldly belongings 5600 miles. We are VERY pleased with our selves for making the decision to use Alison's Relocations. We did our homework prior to hiring our mover and found that the time taken with us to answer our many questions by this company was impressive, the knowledge of the staff was very comforting and the complexity of our needs was easily met. From start to finish (we received our household goods last week) the experience has been nothing but professional, comforting and spot on budget as quoted. I suggest anyone moving to call them first, you'll see what we are saying is fact. Thank you Ben, Kavin, House and Loma!

DO NOT USE ALISON'S RELOCATION COMPANY! CONSIDER THIS AS YOUR WARNING! DO NOT BE LIKE ME, WHO GAVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AFTER I READ BAD REVIEWS. I ASSUMED THAT BAD EXPERIENCE IS A CASE TO CASE BASIS, THINKING AS LONG AS I AM PREPARED, I WILL BE ABLE TO FILE CLAIM IF THERE IS SOMETHING DAMAGED OR LOST. WRONG! UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME. I TOOK PICTURES AND VIDEOS. BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP WITH MY CLAIM. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. HOUSEHOLD GOODS NET WEIGHT 3106 LBS, FROM ANCHORAGE AK TO ROSAMOND, CA. PAID $6126.02.PRE-PACKED SERVICE. I PACKED SMALL ITEMS THEY DO BIG ITEMS AND JUST LOAD. TWO MOVERS CAME AT 9:15AM, TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED AT 10:30AM, THEY PACKED FROM 9:15 TO 3:00PM. TAKE NOTE EVERYTHING IS PACKED. THEY ONLY NEED TO WRAP AND LOAD. 2 BEDROOM SET, TV'S AND DINING TABLE. AGAIN, EVERYTHING ELSE IS PACKED. THEY TOOK 3- 30 MINUTES BREAK AND 1.5 HOURS LUNCH. ONE MOVER EVEN SNOOZED ON TOP OF THE MOVING BLANKETS AFTER LUNCH FOR 30 MINUTES. THANK GOD I AM NOT CHARGED BY THE HOUR, I THINK. MY SECURITY SYSTEM CAPTURED THE ENTIRE EVENT. I CHECKED BEFORE THEY LOADED OUR ITEMS. THE GUY THAT IS PACKING, INSISTED THAT I DON'T HAVE TO CHECK THE LIST AND WORRY ABOUT THE LIST WHEN RECEIVING THE ITEMS. I TOLD HIM, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS LISTED, SO I KNOW WHAT TO RECEIVE. TRUE ENOUGH, I FOUND TWO TV'S THAT WERE NOT LISTED, MY 50 INCH WAS LISTED AS 32 INCH AND MY 65' TV IS NOT LISTED AT ALL. GOOD THING I CHECKED. TIME FRAME, APRIL 19, HOUSEHOLD DELIVERED IN ROSAMOND, JUNE 5TH. WE WERE INFORMED THAT OUR HOUSEHOLD GOOD ARRIVED IN MONTANA (THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY PLACE) MAY 10TH, SAT THERE UNTIL JUNE 3RD. DELIVERED TO OUR HOUSE IN CALI JUNE 5TH. WHEN IT GOT TO CALIFORNIA, WE CHECKED AND MADE SURE THAT EVERYTHING LISTED IS ACCOUNTABLE, DAMAGED ITEMS ARE LISTED. BUT OFCOURSE, WE MISSED ONE. AFTER THE MOVERS LEFT, WE TURNED ON ALL OUR TV'S AND DISCOVERED THAT OUR 65' TV HAS A CRACK ON THE SIDE AND CREATED A WHITE LINE ON THE SCREEN. I EMAILED AND SENT PICTURE RIGHT AWAY, THIS ALL HAPPENED AN HOUR AFTER THE MOVERS LEFT. EMAILED WAS TIME STAMPED. THEIR RESPONSE: CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT ESTABLISHED THAT THE ITEM WAS DAMAGE WHILE ON THEIR POSSESSION. REALLY? WHY WOULD I SPEND MONEY SENDING IT AND PAYING FOR SHIPMENT, I EVEN REQUESTED AND PAID $150 FOR A CUSTOMIZED BOX FOR THE 2 TV'S. THE FIRST THING THAT BOTHERED ME WAS, THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY DRIVER, HIRED A LOCAL MOVER THAT HE KNOWS TO HELP HIM UNLOAD. TAKE NOTE. THE PERSON IS NOT EMPLOYED WITH THE COMPANY. IT IS JUST A RANDOM GUY FROM THE AREA. $5000 WORTH OF DAMAGED, THEY WANT TO SETTLE IT TO $200. I EMAILED THEM BACK TO FIND OUT HOW TO APPEAL DECISION. I WILL UPDATE ONCE I HEAR BACK FROM THEM.

Excellent, Excellent Service!! We moved with Alisons Relocations from southern California to Wasilla, AK. Yesterday we received all of our household goods into our new home. Here is a bit about our experience. My initial call was taken by Ben McDaniel. He spent well over 30 minutes with me on that call whereas other moving companies we called either didn’t have someone for us to speak with our we didn’t get a call back. Ben arranged for our survey to be done a few days later and the following day I had my quote emailed to me by Ben. We then scheduled our move and within hours received an email with all of the move documents and contract necessary to secure our move dates. Three weeks later the movers in California arrived and packed all of our boxes with care and professionalism. Furniture was padded and protected and everything was loaded into the trailer that was parked outside our home. 17,240#’s! Valerie from Alisons stayed in touch with us to keep us informed as to the time of arrival into AK. It did take the full 6 weeks but we were pre-advised that during the peak season this may happen so we were prepared. Delivery crew was exceptional; everything is in place, put together and almost all unpacked. Not one item damaged! A nice touch; Alison’s gifted us a James Michener novel on Alaska and an Alaska Milepost! Thank you for the warm welcome and for the impeccable service from start to finish. I will recommend you to anyone I know or hear is moving to or from Alaska.

On the surface this business is friendly and promises great service. This has been a horrible experience with Alison’s Relocation Services. First of all you need to know that Alison’s uses a third party moving company once your belongings leave Alaska. Your belongings sit in Montana for several weeks until they have a load coming your way. During this time some of our stuff is lost and broken. We purchased their insurance and said that we would be covered which as it turns out is a lie. The driver that delivered most of our things and other customers things to us ended up quitting and never turned in our paperwork so now Alison’s is not going to take care of our lost items....... They are calling a less than a quarter of the replacement cost a good will payment to us. Now if you remember, we bought their insurance. If you can help it, stay away from this business because you’ll be glad you did.

Everyone was soooo helpful. We made the 3948 mile trip to our new home with advice from the Alison crew with out a problem. Our household goods made it there in one piece and in half the quoted time. Thank you all....

Our experience with Alison's was great. They answered all our questions. They did an outstanding job of packing us and our property arrived in good shape.

This company has terrible service. They had very poor communication. My shipment was much later than they said it would be. I was missing boxes when my shipment finally arrived. I would NOT recommend them!

We used Alisons Relocations for a move from Arizona to Anchorage. Our sales person was Rick. I give them 5 stars! From the initial phone call I knew we had found the mover we wanted to handle our precious household goods. We received continuous communications with him and his support staff, our estimate and actual cost were spot on, the services performed in AZ and AK; EXCEPTIONAL! No damages and no surprises. Thank you ALL for making our families adventure of moving to Alaska so welcoming and pleasant.

Everyone at Alison's Relo was wonderful....from the office staff to the estimator to the actual packers. They were helpful, knowledgeable and inspired trust. The packing was done quickly and efficiently. My move was across water and a couple of states. Everything arrived in great shape, no breakage or damage. The "unpackers" were just as friendly and quick as the Anchorage packers. Thanks Alison's. You made my move as easy and stress free as possible.

My shipment has not yet been delivered to its final destination, and I will update accordingly if needed, but I have had nothing but a pleasant experience with Alison's Relocations. I am moving from Colorado back home to Alaska. Every time I've called it's been easy to reach Ben, who was my point of contact before beginning the process. He answered all of my questions timely and accurately. It was very easy to get the ball rolling and they worked with my sudden notice. The movers in my area were great and helpful. They were quick and professional. I've been given the invoice and it's very close to my quote. I would highly recommend this company for a long range move.

A great experience! I have no problems or worries. The packing, the moving and the delivering was done efficiently. Everything arrive intact. I will certainly use them again.

Great Service.

Alison's did a decent job of getting our move from AK to ID completed but there were quite a few inconsistencies in what was said initially and what actually went down. First the good. They moved all our stuff from point A to point B with minimal breakage. I can take the blame for all of the breakage as it was probably how we packed and loaded it. Our vehicle arrived there as is had left Anchorage. No complaints there. Price was reasonable also. The bad is as follows. Many things that were said during our home visit aren't how it went down with the quote. They have some disfunction at their office and the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. We really weren't told that we only had 2 hours to unpack at the destination and we weren't told the details of when the time would start. The two hours started when the vehicle was out of the container. That would have been nice to know. Also they got the delivery address wrong as well as my cell number. The driver attempted to deliver the trailer to the wrong address and he couldn't get ahold of me because he didn't have my correct phone number. Luckily I saw the truck drive by the storage place and ran the guy down. Additionally, I was told that my household goods and vehicle were the only things that were going to be in my container. Not the case. They double dipped and stored a big crate behind our Expedition and never mentioned it. Our driver clued me into their scheme. Overall I was satisfied with the move but way too many inconsistencies, some of which I didn't mention here.

Worst experience I have ever had including heart surgery. Would not recommend to move a refrigerator from Sears across the street.

Ken and Nancy Hoffman

We just received delivery of our household goods and 3 autos on Friday of last week; shipped from Vermont to Anchorage. The communications from start to finish were excellent with Alison and her staff. This was a huge move for us and the distance vast but we can say unequivocally that we will recommend Alisons Relocations in the years to come to friends looking for a referral for a moving company. The Hoffman family is pleased to have supported one of Alaska finest. Very competitive pricing and no damages!! Thank you to everyone at Alisons that worked with us; Alison, Valerie, PJ, House, Kavin and Jim.

Very nice people, poor quality movers. Had two moves at the same time - across town Anchorage and Anchorage to Florida. On both moves items were broken, ruined or lost despite their assurance that items would be wrapped and stored together in a moving pod to prevent just such problems. Will go elsewhere for next move.

Our recent household goods move was assigned to Alison's Relocations and we had an overall really great experience with them. It started off a little rocky as there was some confusion as to how and where and everything else, but the guys on the ground were awesome and really took care of our stuff. They were careful with the fragile items and made sure to double check if they weren't sure if it needed to be packed or not. They were so nice as to even do a 3rd pick up at no charge (typically only 2 pick up locations are provided in a military pick up). They were professional and curtious, and didn't even smoke or cuss on the property. They get my two thumbs up approval!

Emily McMahan

We unfortunately Alison's. Many of our boxes NEVER arrived. They told us that it wasn't their fault they were missing. They charged us shipping on items that didn't belong to us. When they attempted delivery of items that weren't ours the delivery guys were ticked they had to take them back to Alison's warehouse. They wouldn't credit us for those items weight we had to pay for. They never did recover our belongings. Other items of ours were damaged beyond repair, but Alison's took no ownership of that either. Horrible attitudes, horrible customer service. I always tell people what poor service Alison's relo is.

They were on time and did a great job helping us pack the trailer. The guys sent out were top notch and really knew their job, thanks!!!

Very disappointed. Started out well, business called day before to reconfirm which was promising. Movers were due "a few minutes after 9 AM". Received call at approximately 9:15 AM saying they were having trouble with the truck. While I understand these things happen I was not upset. I received a call at 9:30 AM saying they were on their way. At 10:15 I called back and was told by the operator he would look into it and return my call. He never did. Drivers called out approximately 10:30 AM stating they were on their way. Showed up at 11:10 AM. Both guys asked to use our restrooms right when they got there. After stinking up our restrooms they had to unload half of their truck that was full of pallets into our yard. Why they came with half a truck full of stuff already I don't know. I guess it was because they had to switch trucks. Long story short they had to call another driver to come pick up their pallets. When they loaded our items they did a fairly good. We had several very heavy items. I was very disappointed when they unloaded my Tempur-pedic king size mattress. When they opened the truck the mattress was bent in half, the plastic had come off one side of the mattress and the mattress cover I spent $120 for was torn and very dirty. Even had rust on it. All I can say is I'm glad I don't have to move for quite some time and I will spend more time researching movers before selecting one. These folks were a recommendation from our realtor. Since it was a woman's name and a local business I thought I would give them a go. They actually scratched up the entry door of our brand new place too. I'm thinking professional movers would've covered the area around the door before moving things in or out of the house. Lesson learned.

Rhonda Usry

Ineffective, non caring, lost things, broke things, took forever to get my things. They were ok till they were paid, then took months to get my things. I wouldn't use again. Beware !!!!!

I made arrangements with Alison's to move my household belongings out of state. They packed my bulkier household items (mostly furniture) and transported it as far as their lot in Anchorage. Due to devastating circumstances, I was forced to return to Alaska before my items actually left the lot. Upon having them returned to me, I was dismayed to find significant damage to several items . . . my brand new mattress is filthy, my expensive entertainment credenza is damaged beyond repair as is my nightstand, and my dinette set also has damage. I filed an insurance claim with them a month ago and have yet to hear anything from them. My calls are not returned. I DO NOT recommend using Alison's Relocations.

Katie Voke

Worst experience ever. My family shipped our property out-of-state with $30K insurance. After only receiving some items, much of them damaged, I filed a claim for the many missing items. Rather than assist, Allison's actually told the insurance co. that some of our property could still be in our original home! Then, 7 MONTHS later, I learned that most of our property had been destroyed in a vehicle crash, which Allison's failed to disclose. AND if that's not enough, Allison's then told the insurance co. that Allison's had failed to charge for the insurance, so we had not paid for it anyway! I'm still fighting our claim, with negative help from Allison's, despite that we'd spent tens of thousands of dollars to Allison's for moving and storage over the last 2 years. Do yourself a favor and seek a reputable company!

Alaska's earthquake hit us hard. And we had to move out of our house for 3 months while repairs were done. And I mean move everything out. So we had to empty the house and do it in a hurry so the contractor could move in and fix our home. Enter Alison's Relocations.... In a world where mediocrity passes for excellence and people don't do half of what they promise and still expect to get paid like they're the best thing since fresh air, Alison's Relocations did everything they said & more, charged us a fair price for the work, and dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's in the process. And while their estimate was hard to unravel -- I mean, let's face it, we're not in the moving biz so all those dollars & cents weight & time estimate calculations & storage fees hoodoo are a mite arcane to us -- in the end it turned out to make perfect sense and was less than we expected. And we appreciated the time Alison's office staff spent explaining things to us to make sure we fully understood the charges. Above and beyond, people. Above and beyond. The way it ought to be. But the best part? The best part was that their movers showed up on time and worked like a team of relentlessly mighty mules or a team of Herculean heroes to get the job done. Eat your heart out, Atlas. And you'd better shrug, bubba, because the boys from Alison's would put you to shame and work you into the ground. I can hear you callin' your mama already. Alison's movers carefully packed and wrapped and numbered everything and made a careful inventory -- and when it all came back exactly as promised and they worked just as hard getting us settled back in? Wow -- we were speechless. Haven't seen guys work like Alison's guys in a long time... Come to think of it, not since I used to work like that and the GC told my boss that I worked twice as hard as anybody on the job. That's Alison's! There was no standing around and shootin' the breeze for these boys. And they didn't drop or mishandle or rough handle any of our furniture or perishables, either. These guys worked so hard they wouldn't even let us buy them lunch -- even though they more than earned it and we'd have been pleased to do it. It was "get in, get it done, and be polite and respectful while you're doing it." Yep, 'Wow' is the word, is the word, is the word. Would we use Alison's again? Yep. And plan on doing just that when we move next year.

Recently my family moved from our Anchorage home of 22 years and hired Alison’s Relocations for our move. I very strongly recommend others do the same. Alison’s team handled our move professionally. They were very careful and caring with our family treasures. The packing was very thorough and complete. Even more than those basic moving needs that were so well handled, the moving crew was an absolute pleasure. From the first hours when the crew arrived to the moment they walked out the door, we had a great time. They obviously enjoy their work and each others. It was truly a pleasure to have them having fun in our house. Moving is stressful enough that you don’t need to worry about the movers. Interestingly when we arrived at our destination, the team that helped us move into our new home were also very happy our move was handled by Alison’s. They said the moves are always well packed and organized in a way that makes it smoother for them. The company’s reputation is strong even outside Alaska.

Received excellent service from Tai and Ronny recently during my big move. They were very professional and accommodating. They handled everything with great care and we’re very kind.

Very professional company and employees. Pricing was fair and reasonable. We had a complicated move of both an in-home business as well as our personal belongings. No damage and no drama! Highly recommended!!
