We have been asking for a price about a surgery for 2 weeks. We called and received a ridiculous price. After researching Banner's pricing guides we found that it should cost about 1/3 of the original quote. Since then we have tried to contact the billing department 3 times and can't get a hold of anyone and can't get them to call back or email back. I guess this is a standard for the Healthcare industry but it is insulting and frustrating.

I never go to hospitals unless its for my kids I just never have the time or help to sit in a hospital for hours for myself. Tonight was different I have been dealing with the same pelvis and side pain for weeks and I just couldn't stand it anymore. So I waited until my children's dad got home from work and I went straight to the ER I just needed help and answers at this point. I wait for an hour and a half to get called back I wasn't mad about it I expected that much its an ER their always busy and short staffed. I got back and the Dr came in and asked me questions I explained my symptoms and right away I got the feeling that this guy was there for the pay check not because he cared for his patients. So when he left I was speaking to the nurse because she seemed like she cared a lot more then he did and I really wanted someone to tell me why I was having these horrible pains that just wouldn't go away. She told me she would tell the Dr what I said. About 20min later the nurse comes back in the room with saline and toradal. I told the nurse I didn't want pain meds I was there to get answers not pain meds she then tells me it will help if there is any inflammation. So I was ok with that she also took blood and a urine test and said they would be back with the results. Almost 2 hours later the Dr comes back and says the results form my labs were fine and to follow up with my primary Dr and that was it no ultrasound nothing they just did a quick peek at some blood knowing blood results are not always accurate. Then they wanted me to wait for discharge papers. Which I didn't understand why would I need instructions if I'm ok? So I took the IV they had in my arm yes you read that right and I left. I made sure not to leave blood all over the place because its not the cleaning staffs fault that the Dr's don't care to do their jobs anymore. I'm leaving this here because I'm so tired of Dr's not believing patients when they are telling them something is wrong. I have 3 boys and I need to be healthy for them and deep down I know something is wrong with me but no one will listen. This hospital just wants you to wait in their dirty cold rooms for hours so they can send a bill to your insurance. They don't care about their patients anymore all they care about is their paychecks!

My wife was in and out of consciousness while waiting in line to register. Finally received a wheel chair after yelling for one. They move with no hurry and could careless about people that arent related to them. Even after her heart nearly stopped, there was no emergency in the emergency room! Its so bizare to witness this. I was so shocked how unprofessional this hospital is. By the way this is my third time having a horrible experience here, but this time I had to give a review. I never never give reviews on anything but people must know that Banner West is about the worst hospital in AZ!! So after registering we had to wait 3 hours to see the innitial nurse that takes the vitals. And after spending 5 hours in the ER waiting area we decided to go to another hospital. I really thought I was the only one to experience such a horrible time here but after reading numorous reviews it seems like this hospital really needs to evaluate its staff. Will never recommend this place to anyone including my worst enemy and most certainly will never step foot in this fake hospital ever again even if I'm near death! Yes, I rather die at home with my family than die in the waiting area in the EMERGENCY ROOM! Waiting area in the emergency room.....That's an oxymoron. One day they will be sued and bankrupt when someone unfortunately does pass in their waiting area....and not if but when! If I could give this place ZERO STARS I so would in a heart beat! And thats being really generous.

WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD HERE! Came by ambulance from a car accident. Was having a SERIOUS asthmatic attack. Wasn't given lung treatment before ct scan, so it got worse. After scans i was just left in the walk way up against a wall. As my attack worsened, i repeatedly asked for help, they only read my oxygen levels & walked away. By the time my husband arrived i was gaspping for air & gagging, barely able to speak. My husband had to actually raise his voice in order for them to do anything (over an hour later) finally got a lung treatment after, they gave me a pain pill & released me. I GENERALLY FELT AS THOUGH I WERE AT ABRAZO HOSPITAL & NOT THE BANNER I KNEW. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED HOW THIS ONCE LOVELY HOSPITAL IS TURNING OUT. So DISAPPOINTED

I gave birth of my first child all my nurses where super nice and helpful except for one was she was a little mean but no biggy now having my second child let's see how it goes

My husband was recently admitted through the emergency department and needed a small procedure. Some of the staff were attentive and communicated well. Dr. Cook n the ER was awesome! However, the equipment that we desired, to help make him more comfortable, was either non-existent or old. Floor nurses were ok but didn't communicate with us. Hospital staff Dr was awful and my husband fired her. The dirty linens were not changed until we asked and my husband left there with no wheelchair or nurse helping him. They just let him walk out on his own with no home supplies to take care of the wound! Overall, not a great experience.

Danielle Navarro

Worst experience. I was there 5 hours. The first nurse scoffed and slammed down urine collector on tab and huffed out when I said I couldn't go yet. None of the nurses spoke to me when they came in the room. They just went about their business. The one that gave me an IV said " I have to give you an IV." that was it. It was cold. Not one hello..... very bizarre experience.

Went in for a torn rotator cuff. They gave me a shot of Toradol and called it good. It did nothing. Literally nothing. No real services here. Go to a real hospital.

Went to ER due to sore on ankle and intense pain in ankle, knee, thigh as well as intense cramping in calf. Nurse was friendly and in the middle of examining the “dr”, who failed to introduce herself, came in and took over. In the middle of me explaining my symptoms she kept saying it’s a scab it’s a scab. Did not listen to anything else that was going on but was adamant it was a scab. Was instant I had been picking at said scab. Even tho I explained I noticed some slight bruising a couple weeks ago and it turned into a very painful sore. Ordered X-ray for ankle. Totally disregarded the fact that the rest of my leg was hurting. Once x rays came back, she came in and once again had to hear herself say “it’s a scab”. I’m glad that an ER Dr. can diagnose a sore as a scab without any other kind of testing. Also glad how my leg and ankle were never x-rayed or mentioned in my reason for visit on my discharge papers. Only good thing that dr did besides walk away was give me a referral for a primary physician. No wonder this place has such a low rating. I will be getting a second opinion from a Dr. who actually knows what they’re doing and actually cares enough to listen to the patient instead wanting to hear themselves talk. Seeing how I’m still in a lot of pain, 0 stars.

Don't ever bring your family here if they suffer mental breakdown because they have no trained medical professionals! The security and some medical staff apologized and warned us of the case workers called CPR and how they purposely aggravated patients so they can get them petitioned to a psychiatric facility. He was under the influence of alcohol and she was trying to do his evaluation while he was heavily intoxicated. She was very rude and aggressive. He didn't fight them or anything. Stop calling police for mental health issues please find another resource for help!!!

Zero stars if I could. My father is in ICU I am his daughter n medical decision helper/ maker. I have a 18 month grandson. I do not have any family or friends that I would trust or want him to be watched by. N now I'm not allowed in the ICU to be with my father. Bc of germs.

Natayle Griggs

i’m not from here, and people warn me about this facility stating that they are the worst or “ghetto” or whatever the case may be. however i’ve always had to come here due to the close proximity to my home and every time i do come, i get prompt care and everyone is so nice. being an african american woman, sometimes i’m scared of the medical care i receive because of what you see in the news, etc. but they have never made me feel neglected - in fact, i got my appendix removed here 2 years ago and they likely saved my life with how fast they responded. thank you Banner Estrella, you have a wonderful staff here.

It takes 10 hours to even get you anywheree and my family couldn't even get pass the the waiting room and it had very bad services

Sherry Rual

Thanks to my mother working here I've known this place for years and everyone that works there are really nice. I tend to stop by the gift shop.

Stephanie Sirmans

Dr. Baron and PA Victoria Smith were amazing in helping our 2 year old with a radial reduction. She was in severe pain and when Dr. Baron bent her elbow it popped and we had our little girl back to her usual self! Thank you so much!!! Can’t be more grateful!!

They've always taken such good care of husband and I. Especially when I've gone in with symptoms that weren't easy to diagnose. They did all they could to give me an answer. The triage nurses that check you in are hit or miss. Sometimes you're lucky and get one that genuinely seems to care. But ALL of the nurses that are in the back are so sweet and caring.

lolo Teto

If no stars where an option I’d definitely choose that. No complaints about the doctor or nurses that helped me when I went into the ER, but the billing and outpatient department was a total joke. I was HELD in the ER room until I made a 950.00 payment. I have insurance and knew for a fact I was covered and my copay was only 125.00 but the lady insisted and MADE me pay the 950.00. I was told I could not leave until I paid. So I paid, a couple weeks later after going back and forth with my insurance I was told i was only suppose to pay the 125.00. After dealing with your department I did receive a refund a couple months after. I’ve always avoided ALL Banner institutions due to there bad reputation and thought people where over doing it but now I know Banner is the absolute worse. Due to ones low knowledge you guys will have yet another lawsuit.

Trevor Doherty

Rude nurse last year. Unorganized and unprofessional staff this year and once again a rude nurse. Nothing good to say.

Michele Mummel

Just came home from this awful place. I was just informed that i was diabetic. They couldn't tell me if it was type 2 or not. Jewel from the E R should not be Working there. I was in the elevator being transported and my IV got ripped out because the nurse got the line all tangled in the elevator. Did not see a doctor for more than 24 hours. He finally comes in at 6 at night to tell me i can go home. Didn't prescribe the appropriate insulin. Didn't know much about diabetes. I was told there is no endocrinologist on staff. What a lie... Now im home unable to eat because this idiot didn't prescribe insulin to cover meals or my blood sugar...

Forever Thankful

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to! All staff & doctors are extremely RUDE!!! I will NEVER go back here again!!! How they talk about the babies in Nicu is horrible!!! I will make sure this goes further!

Queen Bossy

This hospital is the worst I've ever been to!!! They make you wait an bout or more just to go back, then your in the room for 5 hours. I never left there under 5 hours just to check your insurance in the 4th hour to say ,"ok everything is fine take ibuprofen and you will be fine!!! Ibuprofen can't fix everything, so if your not rich with top notch insurance prepare to die!!!! My 6 year old cousin was seen twice for the same fever and cough, sent him home with ibuprofen and cough syrup. 4 days later the fever was still going up and he was vomiting so they tried to over dose him and send him home again.. His mother raised hell and said "we're not leaving until y'all check my son something is wrong!! Sure enough he had pneumonia!!!!!

Sherril Johnson

It took 2 hours to be seen and 2 hours after that to be discharged. There were only 6 other patients so I'm not sure what caused the wait, but it was long. If I base the review off the awesome lady Nurse it would be a five, but there was a strange guy nurse that made a funny face at my daughters and I. I'm not sure if he just had RBF or what. The lady Doc was informative.

My dad (87 yrs old) was hit by a car, in a crosswalk, while riding his motorized scooter. He refused to go to the hospital with the EMT guys. I drove him to the Banner Hospital emergency room. I told them my dad was hit by s car. Over a two hour wait. At one point I went to the desk and said you realize my dad’s been hit by a car, he doesn’t have the flu, he could be bleeding internally. The patients are called in order of medical necessity. I said who else was 87 years old and hit by a car?

leslie cordova

The worst place I have ever choose to waste my time and money when looking for help in a really bad pain day..... Came here to get helped and instead just get a pill and sent home without Try at least to relief my pain so I'm about to pay 400 for just a copay plus whatever the insurance pay just for a pill that it didn't even helped me really disappointed

Victoria Smith

Terrible hospital, horrible staff, careless doctors . I arrived at this hospital in an ambulance in terrible pain from a botched spinal tap. I was given nausea medicine ,allergy medicine and told i might need a blood patch from Anesthesiologist but they couldn't do it there i would need to go somewhere else "outpatient". They discharged me less than an hour after arriving in the ambulance and left me crying in pain on the side of the emergency room waiting for my ride . My husband had to take me to Another hosptial several miles away and the emergency room at Abrazo west helped me right away. Turns out i had spinal fluid leaking into my brain and needed a blood patch right away which they immediately gave me after giving me strong pain killers to ease the horrible pain I was in . Unlike banner Estrella,Abrazo treated me like a human being and helped me right away and not like a piece of trash. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone and i hope what happend to me doesn't ever happen to anyone else .

Brenda Cicero

In the ER with my mom who is on CHEMO She has been sitting with the general public

Jojo

The ER: The nurse practitioner Monica is extremely rude while i tried asking questions to understand the test but kept getting told that everything is fine and that its not an emergency and to see my doctor. Given potassium, abutoral and flonase? I am struggling to breathe. I came to the hospital because its scaring me that i cant catch my breath and take small breaths for oxygen. I have insurance, i paid my 200 deductible as soon as asked. You think i want to spend 200 instead of a regular doctor visit fee? Im struggling to breath but was brushed off when i asked questions. Just horrible. Never again will i come here. Never. Ill go to St.Joes.

Shyanne Memmott

The wait in the ER is ridiculous! Came in because my 8 month old fell off the bed and hit her head hard and 4 hours later I still have not seen a doctor.

Shakky DaP

I messed up my knee, playing basketball. Banner estrella took great care of me. The staff is awesome! The nurses made me feel comfortable and explained everything to me about my recovery process. Darnell, Peggy and Simon are amazing!!

Jazle Bernal

Way better than Abrazo hospital. The staff is really kind and they have good cafeteria food.

Henry Hernández

The worst service i was at the emergency room waiting 3 hours to doctor come and see me. not even give me anything for the pain.

Ricardo Canales

Done come here this place makes the hospitals in the army seem like 5 star resorts.

Leigha Plouhar

I went to the second floor for my foot surgery. The nurses and the staff were so amazing! They took such good care of me. Thank you, staff, for such a great job.

Rev. Jayson Lawrence Asbury

I have not had a bad experience here. Unfortunately, I was very ill the other day and i got frustrated when no one can give me an actual diagnosis. But the employees, Doctors, Nurses, and all the staff are top notch.

Brenda Ortiz

This hospital has a horrible ER. I am here with my mother in extremely pain on the back of her head, radiating to her jaw, neck and arms and we are just seating in the waiting area. We have been waiting for one hour and 45 minutes. I am scare to leave with her to another hospital. This is unacceptable and so unprofessional.

Barbara Segovia

took my sister to er last night, couldn't have gotten a worse PA!!! she was so rude geeeez not sure if she was have a bad night, didn't introduce herself to use, thought it was a nurse, she really needs to know people are sick!!! Monica Jill you need to really work on your bed side manners!! young and very pretty but your attitude stinks. remember that could be one of your family members one day! sure you wont like them treated that way. THEY ARE USUALLY VERY NICE!.NOT GOOD

Allan Guidos

Great place. Clean and friendly

Samantha Canez

The hospital emergency room is unsanitary there was what I thought to be a inch and a quarter size needle in the Room on the floor and it turns out it was a used catheter and when I told a provider she shuns me away and ignored me telling her there is a possible needle on the ground. The unprofessionalism is outstanding from this hospital I am quiet sad to say such doctors work here and that banner allows them to represent their establishment in such a manner. the only helpful person that was my sons rn was july whom was nice enough to hear my request of a possible sharps out of its biohazard container and properly dispose of the was used needle catheter. July also was diplomatic and did not give the rude provider's name but just handle the situation and tried to make up for the wrong doing. However I really wished I could name the employee whom treated me wrong of banner would contact me back i would be more than happy to point her out I don't know if was a provider whom is scheduled on 4/9/19 and was working on a shift that had the hours of anywhere from 8 and still there around my check out time of 11:40 ish pm that evening.

Annette Beaubian

I am here with my sister, waiting too long just to be seen by a physician. She's waiting to be seen over 1.5 hours. My husband asked how much longer was told by registation how much time she's been here waiting. No help whats so ever. I guess she would have go in cardiac arrest to be seen. i understand about triage by need.

Amy Menlove Otis

Just gave birth here, and both nights in a row I ordered food for dinner and I never got it. NO dinner and I just had a baby!! Seriously??? About to cry....

Went in for severe side pains. Have a couple infections that they gave me pain medication for while there. The doc assumed I have been an alcoholic. I have diabetes, with that I have hbp, My legs were swollen and I have a fatty liver. He said, when explaining my discharge, that the pain would be for a couple days, until the antibiotics kicked in and he would give me pain medication for that amount of time. Then the nurse said it was an OTC and I asked for him and he told me to take ibuprofen instead. He ignored my other infection completely. Instead of listening and talking to me; he walked away after I asked for his supervisor because it wasnt making sense. She (the er supervisor) apologized after I called her about it. That doesn't take away how judged I felt. And how he was just able to not be obligated to help me with my other infection because he believes I'm a alchoholic

onebadscientist

Woah, seen a lot of bad reviews but I would like to say that my visit to the ER was nearly perfect. I was about 6 months pregnant and had what felt like a mini heart attack. Our good childhood friend who is literally a heart surgeon thought I was fine based on my history etc and the Banner ER eventually showed I was. I was there all day but they ran every test and proved it before releasing me. We had just moved here and I was a bit dehydrated from the 110 plus heat and low humidity even though I was making every effort to drink water and stay hydrated it got to me. I am fine nowat almost 9 months and expect a good delivery. At the beginning I said almost perfect...well, the visit was ridiculously expensive even with our insurance but I was treated so well that it took the sting out of paying the copay and bill somewhat.

Matthew Moore

I would give 4 stars if this was just service based. My wife had our second child delivered over 4 months ago. As other have stated, the delivery staff and nurses were great. The post delivery staff and nurses were cold and acted like my wife was an inconvenience in their day. The main issue I have is the billing practices. I have now received several separate bills from this hospital and they continue even 4 months later. I'm not talking about separate bills for the different doctors, etc. These are all payable to Banner Estella Hospital. Why is a central bill not produced and sent out. It's bad enough that I get gouged on pricing to begin with but then as soon as I have a budget to pay the amount I owe in installments, I get another $1000 bill and then another one several weeks later and then another even later. I have started an investigation with my insurance company as some of the recent charges were for services not even rendered. How many more should I expect? When my insurance and I are billed over $30,000 from JUST the hospital to have a baby, you know things have gotten out of hand. This was for a normal delivery as well. UPDATE: I sent an email to the address in the reply. They promptly responded asking for a direct contact phone number. I responded with my mobile number and never received any further correspondence. This was on April 30, 2018. It is now over a week later, still nothing.

Joe Vizzerra

My son broke his arm the other day and the nurses and Dr did the job To take care of him . I’m extremely grateful for those who helped him I won’t say there names but God bless you all and for making sure my baby boy was ok

Kathy Diggs

Medical care was good. My family member was admitted 9/26 and discharged 10/12. The entire time he was there he did not receive a bed bath nor a shower. When he was discharged he had 2 bedsores. Need I say more?

Peter Black

Came in with chest pain and discomfort couldn't breathe at 2am. Left at 6 still not seeing a doctor. They see everyone on first come first serve basis instead of on case by case basis. Even people coming in on amublance had to wait to be seen. Not just me but everyone waiting. People with serious pain issues had to wait in pain for hours without anybody being admitted in. Unacceptable to wait that long with health issues and no care. First come first serve is great for colds and sniffles but possible heart attack, appendicitis, miscarriage all waiting behind colds and sniffles is NEVER the right thing

Polo Wreh

Yesterday my pregnant wife came into the hospital bleeding. Not just spotting but bleeding. We waited for hours the nurse had the nerves to tell us if you haven’t gone through 4 pads yet there’s nothing to worry about. Come to find out my wife was going through a miscarriage. To top it off she’s crying and they come in asking for payment. Will not return to this hospital.

Fernando Jimenez

Had an appointment for my wife to induce her @1:30 a.m. we had everything ready. Took out kid to sleep over at grandma's and went back home to wait for it to be midnight we called they told us that there was no room available to call later.. We couldn't sleep because we wore both ready to go in.. I called the day off at work so that I could be with my wife awake that night and be in her labor "the next" morning but we wore on hold. She called again at like 5am and STILL no room( like is it That's small in there ?) How can you tell someone that be here at certain time and then say nvm.. How professional does that look.. Called again at around 11am 12 hours later of her first call and told her you know what maybe tomorrow you'll be able to come in

Jessica R

I gave birth to my son here. The delivery nurse and my doctor were awesome during labor. After delivery, things went south. The next nurses to care for me and my son were rude and cold. I was not producing milk and my son was crying for hours due to being hungry. One nurse told me to just try and make him suckle for 15 minutes and still I was not producing any milk. An hour had past since my son was birthed and I had to keep pleading for the nurse to bring me a bottle because I was not producing. She told me she would go to lunch first and bring it to me after her break. Finally I peaked out into the hall and asked a random nurse if she would be kind enough to help me and she provided me formula within 5 minutes of my request. As I was feeding my son, the other nurse walked in and had the nerve to ask who had given me formula. Also when I was getting ready to check out of the hospital the nurse kept asking me if I had any other clothes for my son as he was wearing the one piece provided by the hospital since the outfit I brought for him had gotten spit up on. When I said no, she walked away annoyed. this being my first child, I was unsure if I had properly strapped him in his car seat and asked the nurse if I he was secure enough. She didn't say anything and continued to watch as I tried to get it right. when I went to pick up the car seat with my son in it she shooed me aside and tightened my son's straps without a word. It really made me feel like I was a burden. Seemed like the nurse was having a bad week and taking it out on her patient. Delivery nurse and Doctor get 5 stars. The nurses after them, horrible hospitality. This was in July of 2016. Didn't bother to leave a review about it then but don't want any other mamas getting treated that way.

jessica ledger

I am 21 weeks pregnant and went in last night due to feeling no movement for 3 days and a lot of cramping in my lower abdomen and lower back. After checking into labor and delivery, the nurse pulls me back to get my weight height and to explain my problem, after her taking about 5 minutes to find my sons heart beat she says “we would like to monitor your blood pressure because it’s a little high, but we don’t have a bed for you and since you can’t explain your pain to me you’ll have to wait until we can get a bed for you.” I felt not only embarrassed but the way she worded everything to me was extremely rude. I decided to check myself out. When she read me my rights had me sign me release form she Rudley replied with “Are you good with that?” Before I left the hospital I used their restroom one stall had blood all over It and there was a nurse in their and I informed her about the dirty stall. Her response was “even if I call maintenance they won’t even come” my experience at this hospital was horrible and I will be going to another hospital to deliver my baby.

Josh Taylor

Such great customer service and kind staff

Vicente Bustamante

Straight pushed my lady out the emergency room. "That's all we can do." Is what they said. I went to pick her up and couldn't find her. They just told her to leave. She was medicated and had no idea what was going on. As I searched for her asking around they said she was released to the emergency waiting room. After 10 min of searching I found her outside laying on a bench asleep with no care for her. Some nurses were ok but over all horrible treatment at this hospital rate next to maryvale. Avoid if you can. Or mabe they just treat non white Americans this way!

Yurivia Valenzuela Rubio

Labor and Delivery isn't great. They always seem super busy and take a while to check on the moms been here 4 separate times with my sisters and a friend. So they get a 3/5 After that postpartum is great the nurses there are super caring and answer all the questions you have and make you feel safe and make sure you feel good about being a new mom. They get a 5/5 The ER department, the front desk is very helpful the people who do the EKG'S make you feel very comfortable. Check in is good but I've waited 2 hours before in the waiting room and I feel it's something many people complain about is the wait times. The front desk and check in get a 5/5. Once you get to the back though I have a couple complaints the doctors always seem dismissive and condescending. My father is in end stage renal failure and has heart failure and when something is up they just dismiss it that it's that and don't acknowledge his pain when it's worse. I've also been to the ER and its like you're just a number and they're trying to get you out of there as soon as possible and maybe that is the case since they're always busy. Some of the nurses in the ER are wonderful while others not as much. Especially the doctors most are terrible in my opinion, Dr. Icker is probably the only one I truly like in the ER, hears my father's concerns thoroughly. My father speaks Spanish only and sometimes it seems like it bothers them that they have to go out of their way to get an interpreter for him. The ER gets a 2/5 Once you are admitted they do such a great job the nurses and doctors are wonderful and always answer your questions and concerns and tend to your needs they get a 5/5 Basically i feel like entering this hospital is a hassle whether in the ER or in labor but once you're in they're incredible and this is why I rate it a 3 all together.

Aaron Cotham

If this place can handle my mother in law, they deserve 7 stars.

Kevin Adams

I sit here reading bad reviews in shock and awe. I ended up in this hospital after the paramedics took me from a 911 call. I had a blood clot in my lung. The nurses were amazing made me feel at ease and like a king. The doctors were caring and personalized my whole visit. No-one was ever rude or made me feel uncomfortable. I've only been to the hospital 3 times in my life time and I was humbled by the visit. I wish I could do more for their nurses and staff. Thank You for your hospitality, and help.

Mayloni Hall

I went into the er after realizing I was having a miscarriage. I'm 16 and while it isnt the most practical thing for me to be pregnant the hospitals jobs is to make sure i am okay and well. Not only did they make side remarks about how I "dodged a bullet" or "learned my lesson" but they also didnt tell me anything. All they could tell me was i wasn't pregnant anymore. They said they coyld say if I ever was pregnant or if I had a miscarriage or if it was an ectopic pregnancy. It was completely unprofessional.

Janet Peat-kluwe

This location needs a major overhaul of improvements with customer service operators and billing department. First of all, perhaps in 1997, my healthcare education was much different. Compared to what I experienced today. On how a customer is being treated. The verbiage is different. I believe an education using critically thinking with long term healthcare experience is needed in making the day better for the customer by understanding their needs. Not just reading a script repeatedly! Althouigh, I do want to thank the one person who professionally managed the billing call by adding the secondary insurance getting the co-pay billed out correctly. Finally, a follow-up on my part will be needed to my insurance’s.

Bill Knapp

Zero stars if I could. I hardly even know what to say or how appropriate expressing my feelings publicly are. Very VERY poor experiences here. So I'll make this brief and not include every little detail like I initally started to do. I went in to the ER and after xray it was determined I had multiple bilateral fractured ribs. It was the worst pain in my life. The doctors were outright not caring, and my last release the doc was outright rude to me! I was in shock!! I've been to other ER's before and this place is the worst of the worst. If I, or anyone in my family needs emergency care again, we will definitely find a different place to go. Sending me home without proper care the way they did is inexcusable.

Vanessa Tackett

Come here if you want to waste your life in the waiting room. No communication, just sit and wait for your name to be called hours later. Almost bled to death hemmoraging from placenta left in me, and they went through 20 people before I was taken back 8 hours later. This place is a joke.

Jeff Isenman

If it wasn't for the nurse and the PA who treated me I would give this place one star. I only went here because all of the little urgent care facilities were closed. I walked in at 3:00 AM on a Saturday with an obvious head injury with an open and bleeding wound. First I stood in line for 20 minutes waiting to check in. After about 10 minutes I was taken for an EKG. After that I sat in the waiting room until 5:30 AM. There was no one paying any attention to what was happening in the waiting room. I was attempting to lay across the arms of chairs that were connected together to try to relieve my symptoms. I could have passed out or could have died in the waiting room and no one would have noticed. Once I was finally taken to a treatment room (at 5:30 AM) it was once again mostly waiting. Out of the 4 and a half hours that I was there (finally left at 7:30 AM) I only actually received about a half hour of treatment.

Sean Conyette

Excellent experience. All medical personnel were attentive, courteous and customer centric. Check in was seamless along with examination, timeliness to see ER physician, tests and results exceeded my expectations. Volunteer staff came by multiple times to ensure mine and my wife’s comfort and to find out if any additional needs. While I realize there may is a myriad of experiences listed here, mine was phenomenal!

Sara Guerrero

Had my first born son there and the labor was tough (42hrs), although it did not feel that long because of how amazing the service was! I will continue to have my children and this hospital and would recommend to every mommy to be

Cristela Garcia

We have been sitting here for five hours with my mom bleeding they still do not take her back! I understand that it gets busy but this is just ridiculous! Zero stars If you’re dying don’t come here you’ll most likely die!

Jacqueline Ruiz

After reading these reviews and finding out this is the hospital that my family member will have to go to for a work injury is definitely not assuring me. ))))second opinion in the works!!!(((( This hospital is in serious need of some professional development work and the staff being dragged into a unprofessional light Banner our time back into these issues that real life patient are leaving! Definitely heartbreaking to read some of these reviews......

Michael Florant

Must have been there on a good day based on some of these reviews but I went in last Friday for spinal surgery and everyone from the registration nurse to the nice young man who wheeled me out the door afterwards was just as nice as can be. Every nurse who helped prep me for surgery were so kind and attentive, I honestly felt like I was the only patient there that day. Dr. Teff from Phoenix Spine did my surgery and he was amazing and so was his surgical staff. They all made me feel comfortable and I had zero stress going to surgery.

Linda Stone

I went to Banner Estrella ER on 11/4/16. I was throwing up so violently that I burst a blood vessel in my esophagus. They did blood work and told me they had no idea why my white blood count was high. When I saw my regular doctor 6 days later it took her all of 5 seconds when she saw my blood work to determine that I had an infection, probably bladder, due to other elevations in my blood work. It was confirmed with a urine sample. My doctor was shocked that they didn't see that and wanted to know if I actually saw a doctor while I was there. They insisted on a urine sample at Banner Estrella and it was still sitting on my bedside table when I was released with a prescription for nausea. They never even checked the urine sample. In the meantime, my infection continued to get worse until it was properly diagnosed causing me problems for months after. They did get the severe nausea under control before releasing me. Banner Estrella hospital is 1/2 a mile from my house and I will never go there again for anything.

Kristi Stevens

I've had a bad experience here. My nurse aid was very rude....2am she turns on all my lights to ask me" what do you want?"she never had a welcoming voice or body language. Made me feel uncomfortable... The food service lady was being difficult...I asked for more crackers and she told me why didnt I ask for more....and I told her I did...she said well I cant help you. And was giving me problems cause I asked for salt packages. And then my night nurse was horrible. She always says she forgot about me....I went to the wrong room, I didnt get the message etc....then had the nerve to ask if I had a big pimple on my upper lip!!!!! Its a beauty mark (mole) but who does that?! Think I rather drive to another hospital next time I'm in pain...

Annie Grace

Excellent nursing and medical staff. Clean facility. My husband was taken by ambulance with a heart attack. This Hospital is excellent. Everyone was so kind and professional.

Julie Williams

Service was beyond expectations. From the moment I checked in to the moment I was discharged personal was efficient, friendly, helpful, and truly cared about my needs. The hospital is clean and very modern. I've never been so relaxed at a hospital. The food is excellent and the rooms are very quiet. I would recommend this hospital 100%.

farida cavitt

I am 60 year old, I have been in hospitals around the world and by far, this one is the worst. Nurses in the emergency room were rude and dismissive. I could not believe it, I unplugged myself and left without the results of my tests. Shame on you Banner.

Ernesto Cuevas

This is where my daughter was born and the people in the NICU are amazing. I'll definitely return here whenever it comes to giving birth. Me and my partner, we're happy. Everyone is caring and professional. Our visitors were impressed on how the service and the place was. It's a very nice hospital.

Jennifer K

Worst hospital ever!! The PA came at me with attitude and rolled her eyes. She was very young. No compassion. Was not detailed with my health and findings. I went in and 6 hours left with vomiting meds. I never had that as a side effect. I was left untreated pretty much and was told that they have limitations. I been bleeding for 2 weeks and she even caused more pain when she tried to administer some device inside my body. She had no clue what she was doing and will never go back. Keep away!! This place was also filthy from the bathrooms to the hallways to the room.

Leanna Smith

The staff here does have an attitude. I gave birth to my daughter the other nite and the 2nd nite there it was hard to console her and I had zero sleep and I politely asked my nurse if she could bottle feed her and take care for a an hour so I could sleep and she looked at me as if I just asked her to jump off a bridge! Then told me dad can feed her! I've given birth at other hospitals before so I know what top rate care is and if I could give zero stars I would. This is not my only complaint about my visit but I would take up this whole Google page.

M Cee

The drs are great , the wait time is sometimes excessive, so if you have the patience, the care is great.

Nam Tran

i went to banner hospital because i thought i had pneumonia and it turn out i was right. although there are some dr’s that are good most hospital staff here does not listen, they wont care for you. if you tell them you need some pain medicine and regular meds wont work they just give you a different kind of medicine thats similar. my pain level there was at a 7 but they didnt care about about reducing my pain level at all i dint blame all the nurses just the one’s that was in my care. You could be the nicest person to them, dont bother them and let them do their job they are still like that. they take things way to personal and it shows in there care. all they do is gossip about there patients and plot for other nurses to provide the same care and if they like you, you might get their best care. what happen to HIPPA regulations? they lie to you to make you think they are right and you dont know nothing. while i was there i had really bad cough while a couple of nurses were in there and popped 3 discs and they want to say it was nothing and not give me pain meds for it. i felt none of the meds worked for me and made it worst. after they drugged me up dr comes to chk my back while im already on pain medicine she tried to do a check but she used her strength to put my leg up real high to see how bad it was, dr should have ordered an xray to see how bad it was. I’m not goinng to feel that much pain while im on pain meds doc. why couldnt she just put a finger and let me lift myself that could have told her how bad the pain was. I also told here that it was the 1st time i was relaxed was when she gave me the 2 shots of pain medicine, she goes and says we are adjusting your pain meds a little bit the next thing im being told is they are giving anti inflammatory for my back. they dont care about your pain level, i was getting tired of their acting as caring nurses and wanted to leave. night nurses that draw blood chose a spot on my arm where a bone was sticking out. of all the places in my arm they can do they want to choose a boney spot. what would that tell you? its like you have to be jerks to them for them to give you pain meds so they can just put you to sleep so you dont bother them. I really do not trust this hospital and their care. once again these are for nurses and the dr that was caring for me. i understand that nurses has to listen to dr’s thats on the floor currently but the dr’s order good or bad can also make you nurses look good or bad.my lung dr was great along with infectious d dr’s are great!!! there was only a couple of nurses that i felt was genuinely doing their job was a nurse name Barbara and a guy nurse but didnt know his name. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. they treat you like cattle here try to get you in and out. I would not come here again because of this experience. it makes me feel like i can trust hospitals anymore.

Blingy Ricci

I am giving them a 1 only because they didn't have a lower scoring number. This hospital is hideous! Your treated like a number by nurses who are only her for a paycheck. DO NOT come here, especially if your in critical care, I was terrified to have my mother here!!

Rigo Valachi™

Honestly, you’d have better luck just staying home than coming here, waiting in the ER lobby, and then being tossed in a room to wait even longer with an occasional nurse just peeking in every half an hour. This is the ER but the staff couldn’t care less about you. Is there only one doctor on site or something?

Cherie Lee-Turner

If I could give them a zero I would! The worst experience & I'm new to AZ., ER waiting area dirty and nasty, nurse didn't even listen to my daughters breathing and lungs and she came in with chest pains, breathing difficulties due to her asthma, had my daughter waiting over two hours before being called back to an exam room, the exam room was dirty and nasty, instantly started itching, was told someone would be right in with medication and treatment, nope! Had chest x-ray, 2 hours later from going back, shift change, still no meds or treatment until 1 of the main doctors walked past me in the hallway and asked did I need some help and I told her pretty loud that NO ONE had given my daughter meds and she's Asthmatic! I stood in the doorway of my daughter's room mugging the staff as they quickly got her meds!!!! Gots to do better Banner Health, that place needs a makeover & updating & the staff needs an overhaul, whoever is running it needs to be FIRED!

baby d williams

Taking really good care of my grandmother dear.. so keep up the good work.. very impressed with the staff.. very attentive.. kind.. etc etc.. (correction... The stroke unit 2a Dept)

Hilario Gonzalez

Got in at ER july 13 , was at intensive care , descharged the 17, i have only good things to say about this center and its people all ,doctors , nurses and all suport personal, thank you all

Brittany Conroy

My experience was wonderful. The staff and nurses were loving and lifted my spirits. Doctor Chehval is a good doctor and very nice.

Karissa Pham

The ER is horrible. Been waiting 2hrs. Tried to get help, the staffs just ignored and said dont know anything. Awful and rude staffs in the hospital that i have ever known. Patients come here for help to make them feel comfortable but what we got is just the neglecting and bad attitude. So sad.

Vee Unity

Very disrespectful staff. Manager has no morals. If you don't like your job then quit!! You think people would actually want to take the day off just to go spend 4hours in the waiting room. I thought when you took this job it was to help others, not judge them by their cover. If everyone just stop being judgemental they would know my boyfriend is not Mexican, he's native. Don't judge someone by their appearances. Racist is what I call this.

Jean Suttle

Been very thorough with my husband. Working well with the VA system too. My only complaint was that there is not enough staff or volunteers to help handicap family members like me to get in to visit. HOWEVER... When we got home and looked at meds, they gave him the one medication hes allergic too. Its a 45 mile drive to go back. The pharmasist was nice, and is calling it into closer pharmacy, but thats still 25 miles away. Not happy that all the people I told he was allergic to that NEVER made a note in his chart. They also NEVER contacted his personal physician. And maybe they should water plants out front so people don't think they let patients die of neglect like they do these plants by main entrance.

Kimberley Frasquillo

I was admitted to The ER, yesterday (September 7, 2019) with gallbladder pain. It was my second visit for the same issue. But, they did everything within their abilities to make me feel comfortable and decrease my pain on Wednesday, which was the day they diagnosed me with gallstones. Yesterday's visit turned into having emergent surgery to remove my gallbladder. Everyone, from signing me in to any and ALL staff, were very friendly, helpful and compassionate. I couldn't have been treated any nicer! My 2 visits to Banner Health Medical Center have been, while not my idea of a good time, they were positive experiences, due to everyone being so wonderful there. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Banner Estrella Medical Center at 9201 W Thomas Rd., Phx, AZ 85037 to anyone that wants top-notch care. Thank you to each of you that cared for me at Banner Estrella Medical Center yesterday!

Zeferino Coronel

My Best Friend was calling for a nurse or a doctor for 2 hours for some pain meds and haven't respond on it. They keep saying they'll remind him. Who is "him"?Patient in pain and you can't grab his prescriped medication for him? Still no answer. I'll update when they do. Update: finally got the medication after 2 and half hours. I may not understand the process of how this works but if someone is in so much pain that they feel a certain way. Grabbing medication has to me at least a 10 min process. Not a 2 and 30 mins process. Doctor doesn't even seem to care for his well being. Like at least hide that from someone who is kinda depending on you to support him.

Philip Voorhees

had my first son here my lady had a c section it went good, our son was in the NICU and had a great group of nurses who took care of him,me an my ladys favorite was the night nurse Pearl..shes the best she took great care of him...if u kid ends up in there ask for her!Just wanna thank BEMC they are great people!

raquel jacinto

Wonderful people work here. So helpfull when my familly have been sick. They saved my brother's life, helped my dad and my mom. I have been help here too. I am so gratefull because every time doctors and nurses have done great job. Thank you Banner Estrella.

Chanel Yarbrough

I came in to receive stitches on a head gash. the nurses had no sympathy for me being dizzy and weak. They put me in a room and with the tissue I brought in. I was holding my open wound to stop the bleeding. After me asking a nurse if she's good at doing stitches her response was "duh I have been doing it for 20 years. " I was still uncomfortable having a needle so close to my eye. She ended up stating "do you want me to fix you or no. " Hearing that from a nurse, after I already have been none stop bleeding since I arrived and did not receive any assistance after an hour in half of me sitting on the bed. After the statement I refused for her to be near me. No other nurses came to assist or seemed like they cared. I ended up exiting out of the hospital still bleeding and no stitches.

Psycho EmoBunny

I absolutely loved my time here, the amazing staff took very good care of me and my family. They made my first delivery experience extremely comfortable. I was surprised by how nice the staff where and how eager they where to help. They where incredibly gentle and made sure I stayed comfortable and calm. Even postpartum I was constantly being checked on and cared for. I definitely recommend this place as a great place to have your baby. This was my first time and I'm truly thankful for their treatment.

Amanda Christensen

Go somewhere else! Very unprofessional medical staff in the emergency room. I was brought in via ambulance; with an extremely high pulse, high blood pressure and episodes of fainting. I told them I had an issue with my blood pressure skyrocketing while I stand, but I level out when I lay down. They did my blood work and saw that I was extremely low on potassium, but they never did anything for it. They treated me like I was a hypochondriac or somebody there just looking for pills. When I asked them if I could go to the bathroom, one of them said, "oh I thought she can't stand.... Uh-huh....". I've never been so humiliated in my life. I used to tell people to go to a banner hospital, but now I will NEVER recommend them again.

Maria Quiroz

If I could give no stars if I could, but it would not be fair to the anesthesiologists who comforted me when I was so distressed after being neglected by the nurses who where in night shift. This hospital lacks staff with listening skills and compassion or maybe I was just unfortunate, but I hear and have read in the comments about others experiences as well so...When I gave birth it was the worst experience I ever had. I will not trust this place to care for me ever or a loved one. When I waked into this hospital I was ready to give birth and the nurses inside the room who were in charge at night gathered around like it was a social gathering. I kept begging for ice chips or water and they still stood there. I felt dehydrated during labor. The only thing that really stood out while inside the room is how they kept commenting on my feet and hands. By the time a doctor came in I was told I had to undergo an emergency c-section. The doctor told the nurses to medicate me to reverse my contractions which I remember the nurses took their sweet time to give me. I can very vividly remember the doctor left the room and had come back inside the room to wheel me out because the nurses remained gathered in their corner socializing. The day I left this hospital I left very distressed with a baby whose joints popped from shoulder to hips. I was distressed from the time I came inside the room when the nurses kept ignoring my requests. I have family and friends whom have also had a bad experience in this hospital to say least.

Yesterday I took my 5 year old in for a harsh cough and also my 7 week old baby for severe reflux that was causing her to hold her breath. No test other than a X-ray was done on my son even though I mentioned several times there was a Bronchitis break out at his school. Well that’s fine I thought I’ll just take him to urgent care in the morning. Well after only doing a single test that my 7 week old passed they informed me that “she must be transported by ambulance to another hospital” and I explained that I wasn’t prepared( had forgotten my debit card and phone charger at home) and needed to drop my 5 year old off at home with dad to prepare for school the following morning. Well 2.5 hours go by and they had enough nerve to send a case worker into the room, LIE to me and say “she has to be transported by ambulance it’s not an option “ I asked why and was told “ it was a medical emergency”. In response I asked why hours had gone by with minimal care yet it was a “medical emergency“. So the next morning we are in the hospital we were transported to and another case worker comes in and asks if I’m financially stable to care for my children because I stated “I’d prefer to drive her instead of paying for an ambulance bill”. I’m extremely insulted considering I do my absolute best to provide and care for my children. I’m upset that this hospital manipulated me into the most un logical method of caring for BOTH of my children for the day.

My mom was brought to this hospital after having complications on her surgery and when she arrived no one would help her or get a translator, I arrived 30min later because I live far and finally got her help. After that the first thing her doctor Val Aemstrong said to her was why is she in this hospital. This is rude because we are there to get her help and it is the closes hospital to her. Then when I would talk to nurses because my mom was in so much pain to get her medication or anything I saw her go talk to dr. Val and she shrugged her shoulders as if she did not care. Val was rude the whole time we where there. The only thing I was happy about was a nurse that was just a fill in because she was so helpful. This was all in the emergency room.

Stephanie Ortiz

I went in with a horrible migraine. They gave me tornado I also was having a horrible flare up with fibromyalgia . The toradol didnt do anything for my head and the gave me 1 5mg of oxycodone....I was still feeling terrible. I asked what do I do if the pain comes back. He said there's nothing to do and dont come back

conelia gordon

I was very thankful that I went here. The staff is very nice and diligent. I know hospitals can be overwhelming and hectic. But I honestly liked this one. And I've never been to a banner hospital before. The staff there made me feel like family. It is a very good change compared to honor health hospitals.

Bo Bo

I've been here a couple times. My experience was pleasant and I got care relatively quickly . I have good insurance so everything went smoothly and staff did everything they should have . I do recomend you ask as many questions as you have to , many times the answers we seek are only a question away . I didn't have any issues here and appreciated the pharmacy downstairs . It is never a good thing to have to be in the hospital and I hope to never go back lol. If I do, I trust that I'll recieve good treatment here . that's my experience as of now .

Krazy Ladii

Yet again worst decision of my life coming here. They are denying treatment to my 4 year old son that has been screaming crying in pain because they dont think it's an emergency. We dont know what's going on. All she did was look in his ear said it wasnt an emergency and to see his pediatrician. Are you kidding. Me I swore I'd never come here again after they denied him treatment 4 years ago when he was having a food allergy reaction. But it was a panicked decision because he was so miserable. I asked for a number to report and the lady said she would just call security to have them give me the number. The staff is absolutely rude. The one and only person who seemed to be partially human was the check in lady. Nurses are horrible. This hospital makes nurses and drs look like horrible people. I went to security since the nurse refused the number to get the number and the security guy tells me to call the hospital number. I call that and Holly who answered was extremely rude and hung up on me when I asked her for her name. I had to call back to get her name. Finally get the number to call and that was useless. Just tells me to wait for a call from the hospital. If you have children DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Benjamin Feistner

This place sucks for deaf patients. The staff are like deer in headlights when they find out my girlfriend and I are deaf. They are supposed to get video remote interpreting service ready PRIOR to the appointment. It is already known to them that we are deaf and it has been for the last 3 years but still every single appointment brings headache with the VRI system. A terribly unorganized place. The only thing I like about this place is the friendly secretaries. That is all.

Jessie H

Labor and delivery unit sucks if you are having a miscarriage. You will be put in a room "as one of nurses told us " away from mother's delivering healthy babies so that we don't scare them". I was 19 weeks, seen about 7 nurses in the 19 hours I was at the hospital to deliver my son, they were rude and condescending, every question I asked about what to expect, I kept getting " please refer to the folder we gave you when you first came in" .. I've been in the medical field for 19 yrs as a nursing assistant, unit clerk, EMT/firefighter this is definitely one of my worse experiences with medical professionals. The whole miscarriage process was treated like I was an embarrassment, shoved in a corner room, left to deal with this devastating emotional time of my life, quietly and discreetly like it was shameful. Every question unanswered, only for a nurse to say, oh I don't know, read your papers and if its not in there I'll go ask and they never came back. I came to this hospital because a couple of my friends had their babies here and said it was a great experience... maybe if my son would have been full term and healthy it would have been a better experience for me. Something that you guys should think about would be to only have one nurse at the bedside, maybe a counselor and definitely more training for the staff to not be rude and to be better at answering the questions or even explaining the whole process of what to expect... the unknown is what was the worst

Kristi Clark

They take 5 years to do anything you will spend the whole day here

K M

Worse hospital EVERRRRR!!!! They neglect patients, and dont inform them about whats going on. I had to ask whats going on. My nurses had forgot about me numerous times.

Wendy Hronek

My sister delivered Saturday after being induced and pushing for over 3 hours with a baby that was face up. Which makes delivery more difficult. She lost 2 liters of blood and could have died. At the same time she had a headache the entire time from the epidural. I am in healthcare and knew my sister needed a blood patch. It was like they did my sister a favor to do this procedure that cured her debilitating headache instantly. She was sent home Monday. Tuesday-I believe the blood patch dislodged. She had severe head and back pain with vomiting. She was given meds for her headache in the ER with 1 liter of fluid and sent home. Guess what......Wednesday she was worse. Could not get out of bed with the same pain and vomiting everything. Who is caring for the baby, the father because my sister could not. She went back to the ER. More meds were given and more fluid. Not once did they want to entertain that the blood patch became dislodged, which they can. I called the ER case manager all the way from Illinois when I heard they were going to send her home. They gave her another blood patch and instant relief. It was like they did my sister a favor. They were not listening to her. They wanted to drug her and ship her home to have a stroke? Who knows. Unbelievable treatment. What happen to assessing your patient and finding the cause. I'm a nurse, not a doctor. Thank goodness I know what I am talking about. Today 9/13/18 after 5 days postpartum, she is finally bonding with her baby. All those days are gone.

Susan Smith

I love the hospital, and the doctors, nurses, etc. However, myself and my family do not like to be told lies by the doctors. Tell us what is wrong, We are strong, we can take it. Don't just tell us it's an infection, then later find out exactly what kind of infection it is. Be up front. Nothing worse than being lied to by someone you expect to trust.

Jonathan Dugger

My wife had heart surgery back in April and we have been to pretty much every hospital in the Phoenix area due to complications. This was one of the very few times where the staff were more than professional! Thank you to Dr. Zahn in the Emergency room (Orange) and to RN Mina as well. You both showed what medical care should be. Thank you for listening, compassion, and having us leaving with a smile on our faces even with the issues at hand. You both should be commended on your professionalism and commitment to the patients! Thank you both!!! And to the rest of your team. Keep up the great work!!! The world needs more people like you!!!

Keith Muller

I wish I could give no stars! Not even offered water, my PA-C was ruder n about as ugly as a junkyard dog. It’s worth the extra wait and drive for anywhere else. They also with a empty emergency room, but put me with a pediatrician ER PA-C. Rockets

Patricia Marie Olivas

Banner is nothing but a scammer! If yu are seen without insurance be aware! That there will be 2 separate bills! So if there tell yu a price in the E.R except another bill even more expensive then the first one! NEVER EVER! GOING BACK TO GET RIPPED OFF AT BANNER!

Geraldine Davis

Had the worst experience ever in ER. I was brought in by EMS @7:20pm on a Thursday night. Upon arrival I was informed that the systems were going down and everything was going to be done by paper. I was kept in ER for SEVENTEEN hours. Twelve of which was after labs, x-rays and CT scans were done. Nevermind the fact that my family had been with me all of this time, no one even checked to see if anyone needed anything. At about 5:30am I pushed the buzzer to try to get some answers. Someone turned the buzzer off and never came in. After pushing the buzzer a second time. A young man burst into my room yelling "WHAT'S GOING ON"??? Finally the doctor comes in to tell me I'm being admitted. After going for my final test the next day at about 10 am where I had wait even longer because the doctor wrote the wrong order, I was taken to my room at 12:30 in the afternoon. All of this time I had not eaten. I will Never go to this hospital again!!!!

Luke Parker

It’s impossible to find anything in this building. And banner doesn’t provide anyone to give information or directions. They have directories which don’t provide enough information, and the staff is unhelpful. It took me 20 minutes to figure out which building I was trying to get to after walking across a variety of different streets, into a variety of different lobbies

Isabel Batres

Horrible hospital. Over a four hour ER wait time. Staff isn’t informative at all. I don’t know why I continue to hope that it’ll be different every time but this time is the last time I go to their emergency department.

Gerry Mullins

Only reason not 5 stars is the physical therapists. They do not do therapy, one put my husband in the chair and went home. On another occasion, therapist came when he was having lunch and said he would come back; that never happened. Our doctor was requesting the PT, the nurses called 2 days in a row and no one came. Rob was the only one that did bed exercises and used the walker as much as my husband could tolerate.

Ricky Gomez

Whorse hospital ever had bad experience today wensday/22/2018 toke my mother for urly surgery 730am on her knee had me wating for couple hours or more with out let me know wats goin on after surgery was done around noon when finaly they move her to a recovery room they put me on difrent room wating for her another 2 1/2 hours pass nothing later they told me she was on difrent recovery room all ready for over 2 hours when am wating for her on another room for long time

Mara Nusbaum

I have been here twice. This recent time, unfortunately I was admitted. I have had great experiences both times here. The staff is so friendly and so nice and caring. They eased my anxiety and helped with each and everyone of my concerns. Now, because of the area. I'm sure they have to deal with a lot of crazy scenarios. But it doesnt seem to take away from there exceptional level of care.

Evergreen Anderson

Amazing staff made me feel very welcome and took care of me to the best of their ability. Not too impressed with some of the timing estimates as they were often underestimated or took twice as long as we were told. Otherwise everyone was very friendly and helpful with treating me for multiple issues over the last few months and with the birth of my baby. Very impressed with how they handled most of my questions and even offered pamphlets if they couldn't find an answer/ if I had more questions than they could answer at the moment and offered AMAZING recommendations for doctors when I asked them to. Definetly much better than experiences I've had with hospitals in the past as they actually took the time to answer my many questions and explain my medication to me.

Robert Clowes

I was reading that some people gave bad reviews about Banner Estrella I have to say it's is one of the nicest hospitals I've been to the rooms are great the food is great the staff especially on the second floor Dakota Dr Abbas they were all awesome I was only there for 5 days but they took really great care of me I live in Mesa and it is in Avondale and I would probably requesting be taken there if I ever have to go into the hospital again knock on wood thanks a lot Banner Robert

Thomas Calderon

Worst place ever just a nightmare... Not only are you waiting for hours before you are seen .. The staff actually have an attitude and don't care about helping... Do not recommend coming here at all... If possible save yourself the trouble and get to a better hospital..I highly recommend St. Joseph on 3rd Ave in Thomas.. YW

Erik Cortez

Terrible experience they didn’t do anything to help me still experience terrible chest pain...very upsetting when I went back because I’m still experiencing the same pain and the nurse pretty much tells me they ran the test and there is still nothing they can do, and that they can’t give me an exact reason for my chest pain a bunch of people who went to school and still don’t know how to do there jobs here. Beware they don’t care about you or your health it’s just business all part of a corrupt system, they are here for a pay check and that is it. They flat out don’t care!

What can I say thats positive about this hospital? Maybe 1 thing, but nothing more. That's only for the nurses that took care of my wife on the 4th floor....on nightshift only. There was a time when doctors actually practiced medicine and looked for answers. Those days are GONE. Brought my wife in with severe abdominal pain. She could barely walk when we came in. She has a lot of health issues, so you'd think they'd take it seriously. Wrong. Treat the pain, and try to send her home. Yeah, blood tests were good, CT showed nothing out of the ordinary. But she could'nt walk. When I told the ER doc she just looked at me like a deer in the headlights. Just walked out. Finally got her admitted for observation. Not even here 24 hrs and they're sending her home. Walking or not. No answers, no further attempts at a diagnosis. Drug her up and send her home. Doctors here are inept. If their computer can't tell them whats wrong they'll just send you home with a RX and " follow up with your PCP". I will never let anyone in my family come here again!

I am very upset the way and the tone of voice that was used just now that I called the ER I was answered by a nurse named Mary (so the other nurse said) honestly I believe it was something else, since I said I did not like the way she said when she transferred the call to my son's nurse she said with a sarcastic tone of voice "it's the MAAADRE! and giggled to me was offensive they was she said it only because my son's last name is hispanic well he is a US CITIZEN AS WELL AS ME am sure that when the last name is SMITH she does not transfer the call say it's the MOTHERRRR with that sarcastic tone of voice I told my son's nurse that she Mary should make sure she place the calls on hold before making that kind of comments. So I hope someone reads and pays attention the the comments and address this issue with nurse Mary who worked ER 4/14/19 at around 10:30 PM

I had Kidney Stone on 2/8/2019 and went to Emergency Banner and they make me me over two hours. I was in so much pain. I can't seat, stand, or lay down. From a scale of 1 to 10, mine was a 10. They are so slow....

The wait time is long but it’s a hospital, not a doctors office. Went in for a wound in my mouth not healing right and they gave me what I needed and recommend some other places for check up as well. First time being at a hospital in Phoenix since I moved in from out of state. Nurses were nice, decent human beings. Not as bad as what I thought it was going to be since reviews made it seem worse than what it was. Though I wonder if wait time has to do with how many people are staffed in that unit. Overall I’d go again if I needed to.

Banner Estrella Medical Center is by far the worst hospital ever. They have terrible service. I wish I could give no stars st all. Zero. I was in labor about to give birth and they had me in the room for an hour only to send me home with excruciating pain. My baby was pretty much ready to come out. Horrible staffing of doctors and nurses no compassion at all. I will never send my loved ones or friends to that hospital. So I went over to saint josephs hospital right after being sent home from Banner. And I delevered my baby there. Saint Joseph’s is a much better choice. They are very caring, nurses are so sweet. Just felt so comfortable. If your in labor go to saint josephs hospital. Amazing nurses and staff.

My wife and I recently had our baby here. We had planned ahead and had them check our insurance to give us an estimate of our out of pocket expenses. We were fortunate and the birth went very smooth just as the estimate showed. We received two bills soon after the birth that matched the estimate, gladly paid them and were moving on enjoying the baby... until we get another bill 50 days later with another $2,000 out of pocket! We are disputing the bill now and I will gladly edit or remove this review if they fix our issue. I will say the doctors and 75% of the nurses were fantastic but not knowing what you will pay would make me not recommend this hospital to a friend. Edit #1 After hours on the phone with Banner and the Insurance companies the issue is with the original estimate. Either the staff member that produced the estimate is completely incompetent or they were intentionally dishonest.

Went there by ambulance I couldn't go pee for 24hrs. After asking me the basic intake questions she comes back 15 minutes after that and asks if I have depression I said yes I do will this affect my treatment because I didn't go there for depression . She said it wouldn't affect my treatment but judging by my experience I think it did. 2nd nurse he asked me to leave a urine sample I said I can't pee so he said just leave a sample said it again and again ((( but I can't pee))) then he said they were gonna do an ultrasound when a nurse before him did one 20 ago i asked him to please get my records from the hospital I went to yesterday to see my CT scan he said no because it would take like 3 hours. I was diagnosed with extreme case of calcium in my kidneys and UTI. Then the last nurse comes in after an hour and a half says what's going on with you today. I said why do I keep having to explain this. I went to the hospital yesterday, I can't pee and I'm in a lot of pain she says ok we'll get a urine sample I told her I cannot pee so she leaves the room I hear her asking the nurses how much urine was in my bladder during the ultrasound so then I heard one female nurse tell her I was lying. I started balling my eyes out and left. I'll never go back even if it was an emergency. That was very hurtful especially when my issue was very real. This was my CT scan. The bean like white are CALCIUM kidney stones.
