REVIEWS OF Normandie Golf Club IN Missouri

Burt Paris

Hugh Pizzov

Nice course but it needs a bit of work. All of the sand traps are mud. Fairways are not in very good shape. Greens were decent.

Matt Kallman

The best Zoysia fairways, the greens are tough and quick, a challenging layout. If you get a bad lie move it a little!

fantmone

Hidden gem of a golf course with a lot of character. Would like a portable potty on back nice though.

Chris Johnson

Great, historic golf course. I enjoy it.

Two sides to the us review. The course and grounds are very nice and all taken care of. The holes are nice and provide good difficulty. The staff on the other hand, a little more to be desired. Being called names for playing too late doesn't make money. Being threatened doesn't make money. Almost getting hit by a golf cart doesn't make money. I'm definitely one to follow rules and know when I'm wrong but being treated like I was, uncalled for. I will deter anyone I know from playing at this course. There needs to be some customer relations classes in this facility.

Bill Butler

Absolutely love playing this course. It is hard but the improvement made over the last few years is amazing. Greens are always in great shape and the fairways have never looked better. Great value.

Mike Cullen

Tom O'Keefe

I'm not a golfer but this place was looking kind of rundown when I was there.

Ryan Murphy

Great golf at a fantastic price

Fantastic value for an outstanding old school golf course. Pars are hard to come by, but you feel really good when you get them. Greens roll true. Best golf course hot dogs and brats around!

One of my favorite courses in St Louis. Great spot for leagues and a great round on the course.

I had a tee time at 4:15 pm on a Sunday. The individual behind the counter did not seem very pleased that I was teeing off that late. He told me to take the only cart left in front of the clubhouse. The cart had not been cleaned and contained the trash of the previous patron. Maybe management should stop offering tee times after 4 pm to keep employees happy.

Dirk Ebbinghaus

Great public course . The only reason its 4 stars is because of the cart path.

Ryan Zerbe

Been golfing at this course for 18 years in golf league. Always challenging. Just wish they would bring back the cart girls snd sell food and drink on the course.

Kevin Leary

Grounds crew doing their best and the place looks much better.

Michael Klein

Pretty bad shape and service in the clubhouse was terrible. The guys was more interested in smoking outside than waiting on customers.

I have played here a several times over the years and generally the course is in decent shape. The course is lacking some maintenance, I know we have had a lot of of rain, and all of the courses have been affected. The greens were in tip top shape. The fairways and tee boxes are in need of some serious work. I get budgets and things can be a problem for courses. I went into the clubhouse just to inform a staff member that I thought that at almost$45 dollars was pretty steep for the conditions, but I was told it was prime time, which I know all weekend mornings are prime time. Then I got questioned on what courses have we played. I told the staff member I was not going to do a negative review, until he questioned me about the other courses, and conditions. He Does not realize how many courses we play.We have a group of 12 or more that play a different course every week(prime time), 12 today, and pay less for way better conditions. Please do not make me name them all.I gave 3 stars because the staff is normally very friendly and the greens were in great shape. I still recommend the course, I love the layout, just be careful on green fees, do your homework before you book.

Louis Pounds

Great price, good fairways, rough is tall and lost balls due to hilly terrain that are findable elsewhere...solid good course, would play again.

Jerrod Kelley

Played the course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised great test of golf. Definitely will be back

Larman Williams

Hard course but love it

Ben Leonard

The cart paths are so bumpy that my back still hurts. 6.5 hours to play 18 holes. They pack as many people on the course as they can. All of the bunkers were missing sand so it’s just a series of clay holes in the ground. There were 4 people paying in front of me and every person paid a different rate. It’s so frustrating when everyone is paying less then you are. I asked the guy at the counter and he said it’s just how you book it. Just a disappointing experience.

Patrick Wampler

Great old course. Cool staff. Jay and Pat make you feel welcome.

Robert Promaroli

Cart path is in terrible shape , but still a beautiful course .

Dilip Nadkarni

Historic course. Lush forests, old trees. Very challenging topography. Lot of blind tee shots and unexpected hazards add to the mystery. Excellent greens. Fairways and cart paths could do with some improvement. Value for money for 25$ green fee.

James Curnutte

Great old course. Greens typically are fast and well kept. Long with blind shots but some very solid holes. Great rates and hey, a Randolph runs it so.....

Joe Basso

Oldest Course West of the Mississippi. Difficult greens, Tight Fairways.

Great character. I love the challenge of this tough track. Your game will be tested. To play your best you must play uneven lies & shape your shots. Small green & elevation changes test your ability to judge distances effectively. Long & short game is essential. Nice for the price.

Ted Klos

Great golf course, slightly challenging, greens and course we'll maintained

DarrylMrT

The perfect facility...if you enjoy being treated as "persona non grata by the club house "staff".

Most of time on weekends, too slow, needs marshalls to control speed of play,

Jonathan Rundell

Decent course. Some of the tee boxes need repair and if you have back problems stay off the cart paths.

Needs a little maintenance. Minimal grass on fairways. Rough needs to be cut. Cart paths need a lot of patching. Layout ok, but too many blind tee shots.

Richard Korte

Great course. Play it three times a week.

Michael Tarantola

Needs a little bit of work on fareways

Uri Valkov

Brian Schneider

Great old course

Amy Torres

Challenging course. Beautiful old place, little pricey.

Geno Salvati

Historic golf course with great rolling topography. I like the challenging holes and the staff has always been quite nice. Some other golf courses are better in terms of maintenance, equipment and amenities but you pay more for that. If you like golf, you will like Normandie. It is also very conveniently located in the central corridor.

I cannot recall playing a golf course in worse condition than Normandie Golf Course, except the possibility of some very cheap courses back in Oklahoma we call cow pasture golf. It strikes that the management team of Normandie has a bet among themselves to see how little maintenance and money they can put into the course and people will still pay to play it. The only exception the day I played was the greens. They were much better than the time I played the course about a year ago in the summer. At the time they had nearly lost the greens. This time a large number of fairways had lost grass so it was essentially dirt with patches of grass. There are many bunkers on the course, none of which were being properly maintained. A few looked like they had not received attention in years. The cart path was rough that unless I just crept along, it jarred my bad back horrendous. They need to do much work on the drainage on the course. There were more than a few areas that with this rain were essentially swamps. The rough was so high that it would have been unacceptable at a US Open. I lost several balls that were not that far off the fairway because the grass so high. It should not be that penal at public course that is used a large number of high handicappers. This is all very disappointing as this is an old historic course. I love the layout of the course. 10 years ago I played it almost weekly. Now once or twice a year and I leave mad at the conditioning. It could be a real gem in a depressed area of Saint Louis if it was managed in a loving way. I understand that UMSL now owns the course, but has leased out the management of the course. It strikes me that the management company is sucking every dollar they can from the course without putting anything back. Shame on them and shame on UMSL for making such a deal.

Course in good condition, greens were fast but in good shape. Played 18 in 4 hours.

Craig Abt

VERY favorable green fee, but you get what you pay for. Historic track (oldest course west of the Mississippi) with lots of character and maturity, and could still be a beautiful and formidable course. There are some blind tee shots, so you do have to be careful with the group in front. Many landing areas off the tee had nice zoysia; tees were spotty. Unfortunately much of the course has fallen into disrepair - poor cart paths; several unkept/overgrown areas; dead trees in need of removal. The pond on #4 is "nasty". Maybe plug from the non-landing areas to those that are sparse - ??? By simply investing some labor hours over the course of a few weeks and a Bobcat probably for just a few days to tidy the place up, it would be a much more attractive venue to play. AND a little higher green fee could probably even be justified!!!

Michael Buell

I give this 3 stars because I like old, oak lined golf courses. On the plus side, it is hilly leaving lots of lie adjustments. It has a wide range of holes from short to long and small greens. On the negative, it is usually not in the best shape. Leaves are an issue in the fall. Traps are neglected. Rumor has it a local university bought it so maybe things will improve.

David Erker

Kind of tough.

Timmy Bishop

Good course.

Great, old style layout with mature trees. Tough greens to putt if you are above the hole. #10 & #11 are as tough as any course around for Par 4's. Great finish on #18!

If you're looking for a ragedy course to play, this is the course for you. If you like a course where the grounds and paths are properly maintained, go anywhere else.

Daniel Wenzelburger

Went into the round not having high expectations for the course but it ended up being very fun to play. Definitely has an older feel to it but it was well maintained and despite the rain the greens were in good shape. After it rained a crew member was out right away working on the greens. Overall I had a great experience

If you want a challenge, more so than most courses in the area, this is the place to go. The people here are great, and prices are usually proper. I can usually break 80 easily at most courses in the St. Louis area, it's a bit tougher here to do so. They also have great tournaments all year. Highly recommend checking out. The course was built well over 100 years ago too, pretty cool.
