REVIEWS OF Baker National Golf Course IN Minnesota

Jim Bruha

I typically play Baker several times per year. June 2 was my first time this year. The fairways were in good shape compared to many of the courses I've played this year. Unfortunately the greens were terrible. Where there is not large patches of dead grass, the greens are very bumpy due to winter kill. It does not appear they have been reseeded, nor are they patching them. Hopefully they have a plan to repair them soon.

Dan Gorney

Great layout but at this time the greens are unplayable. Every green has tons of winter burn out plus they have been recently deep scored. Fairways also have lots of dead areas. Fees are full boat-$60 with cart. Stay away for at lest a month or more.

What a tremendous facility in the West Metro. The course is a gem that is 18 holes of Championship golf that is set up to all to play, and will give anyone a challenge that wants to step back to the tips. The course is kept in great shape. We played just after a fair way arriation and it was barely noticeable just 48 hours later. They lay out is well suited to the landscape so you have all you want in some great straight holes of golf and a few with a slight bend to them. Greens are quick.

Cross country skiing, gentle hills.Fairly open course where duffers can do well.

It is a very popular course, so you my struggle a bit to get a preferable tee time. It hosts a number of private and public clubs and leagues, so weeknight tee times can be very difficult to get prior to 5:30-6:00. The driving range is big but a bit hokey, as you shoot down into a virtual hole, so you lose the ability to judge how far you are truly hitting your shots.

Nice course

Probably the nicest of the public courses in the Twin Cities. The course is long, and it is likely you will be pushed by players behind you (and possibly the Ranger, too) if you are not playing regulation golf. This course is really amazing in the fall, with the leaves changing. There are no homes on this course and the lakes and trees make it stunning!

This is one of my home courses. I play this more than any other course in the Twin Cities. For the price, it's the nicest layout around considering it's a public course too. You won't find a public golf setting like this, with no houses and great natural views AND for the price, anywhere else around. The Championship Course is very challenging, but they keep the greens a bit on the "slower side" to make up for the slope and difficulty. The practice facility is great and the 9 hole exec course is perfect to bring my daughters to. Only complaint, the horse flies in July are brutal!

This is a beautiful, challenging, and well-maintained course. The greens are quick and in excellent condition. Baker provides great value and a terrific experience.

Jonathan Kahner

Greens were unplayable. This winter was brutal so I can see how they are awful, but ridiculous Baker is still charging full price to play. I will never play this course again. Not fair to customers paying close to $60 for just an awful course right now.

B Hasselback

Slow play...nice views. Un-even maintenance...sometimes fairways are cut, sometimes not. Greens are hit or miss.

Michael Gordee

Great people and a beautiful Golf Course

Lydia Nelson

Best place to go. Nice people working.

Unfortunately the greens were next to unplayable. Most courses in Minnesota had a rough winter but at this point during the year they should be back. Not worth the trip out there yet. Nevertheless, this course has an extremely interesting layout

Eric Lundeen

Great Value, Aesthetically pleasing, and a great course design. However the greens have a ton of winter burn.

Pinnacle Music

Quiet, great practice areas and challenging course. Very friendly staff to top it off.

Greg Gertken

Kevin Unterreiner

One of the nicest, most scenic public courses in the twin cities metro. No houses and great layout.

Sharon Schreiner

The place is in pathetic shape.

Leon Stockert

This place is so quiet and in a natural setting when eagles fly in the sky and only thing you can hear is yourself. One of the best maintained Golf courses that I golf.

Greg Frass

The greens are beginning to take form and are no longer unplayable like many other reviewers said they were earlier in the season. The progress on greens within the past couple weeks has been astounding. Another positive is the bunkers as they have been well kept and neat throughout the season. Even though it is getting later in the season, it appears that the course is beginning to take its original form. Highly recommend giving it another chance!

Baker National used to be the gem of public golf in the west metro. I believe it will be again. Like other reviewers wrote, the greens in 2019 are in terrible shape due to winter kill. A ranger said they reseeded twice (the first didn't take because we hit a cold spell right after). Even in this condition, it's dang hard to get a weekend tee time. That tells you something about how much golfers love this place. The property is incredible. This course is not for your average duffer. It's a tough test, and rangers will hound you on pace of play if you fall even a few minutes behind. They're not discounting green fees in 2019 but do offer free range balls w/ your round. I can't wait for 2020 when I'm expecting a 5-star course again. 3 stars until then.

Baker National has been one of my top 5 public courses in metro Twin Cities ever since I first played here a decade ago. Despite declining golfer population and popularity of the sport, popularity and demand for this course is such that trying to get an early weekend teetime for a foursome is still difficult. A number of holes are impressive, intimidating, memorable, and beautiful in their natural setting. Par 4, Hole 6 and sister hole in back nine, I think Hole 12, are visually so narrow they are intimidating. Every green plays differently due to undulations, and fast. Unfortunately, a majority of tee grounds and a handful of fairways are damaged, probably a combination of winter and heat kill. Even with that, I still love this course.

Colene McClard

Fantastic maintenance on gorgeous quality greens consistently! Always available to get tee times when you call ahead a few days. Beautiful new club house with super customer service staff dedicated to your needs!

Coleman Elliott

Over all wonderful course . Great practice facility . Fair price . Up and down elevation . Decently challenging . Amazing views . Probably one of my favorite courses near the twin cities .

Great golf course layout and condition. Especially for the price. Clubhouse dinning experience is lacking.

Tony Hennen

Excellent course with scenic views and challenging greens. Favorite course to play in west metro.

Eric Gudrais

Nice course, interesting layout and in good condition. But that is where it stopped for us. We are from Florida and expect to meet the course playing requirements. We LEFT after playing 13 holes in about 3 1/2 HOURS .This was a Friday afternoon. The group in front of us was a 5-SOME with 3 walkers......and did not let us go through. The group which we jumped ahead of at the 10th tee - course rules state you only have 5 minutes for the break at 9-...there was no one on the 10th tee when we arrived from the 9th.....nor was anyone on the first 450 yards of the par 5...so we teed off....about 5 minutes after we had teed off the group behind us appeared and were very rude to us. Then someone from the clubhouse came out to talk to us on the 12th tee and said that everyone was playing on time.......a little over 3 hours as we got to the 12th tee....ridiculous comment from the clubhouse ranger........so we left after the 13th hole playing at a 5 hour rate even jumping ahead of one rude group......will never play this course again because even the course scorecard states....4 hour play-time rule, no 5-somes.....stick to your own rules, BAKER....
