Phenomenal Course! Have always played the Nugget however Contraband is a beautiful, Fazio, designed course. Must play when you go to Lake Charles.

Contraband Bayou Golf Club, home to a well-rated relatively open parkland layout, is located close to the bayou of that name. Complementing the course is onsite accommodation in the L'Auberge Lake Charles, and right alongside is the Golden Nuggett hotel, casino and 18-hole golf course. Even though it was misty and cold it was an awesome time. The clubhouse staff was friendly and the Marshall was in charge making sure people were on time with their tee times!

Terrible drainage, terrible shape, overpriced green fees. Go to Gray Plantation 3 miles away and don't waste your time here.

What a treat! Priced the way it should be. Great day 4/10/18. The course was in great shape for the rain it has received. Greens we're fast and true. Not what I'm used to in Missouri. I WILL be back next time I'm in the area. BEST I'VE PLAYED UNDER $50, hell over $50 too!. Staff were ALL friendly.

Drove 2+ hours from Houston to play this course. Paid $94 greens fees for a featureless course that was in terrible condition. It's not worth $50 greens fees, let alone $94. Fairways, tee-boxes, & greens were filled with weeds. The best feature was the bunkers that were in very good condition. The pro shop employee was pleasant but became easily confused. A supervisor arrived and sorted out the confusion but was very ill-tempered through the process. I will not waste my time or money on this facility again.

The course is always in great shape. On certain days, they offer pretty low green fees. The only reason this does not get a 5 star is due to the greens being hot or miss.

Absolutely beautiful course. Took advantage of the $44 special for a round on Sunday. Everything was in great shape. Only issue was the rough. It's literally 2"+ thick so watch your ball and try to keep it in the fairway or it will punish you.

Course was ok. Played in late October for a special rate. Had been raining for several days so still some standing water and mud but overall an enjoyable day. Do not know if I would have played it if it would have been 94.00 though.

Played the course last Friday. The fairways and greens especially were in terrible shape. Looked like they had gotten a lot of water and hadn't been able to do any maintenance on the course. The grass on the tee boxes was almost up to the top of my tee. I understand mother nature can't be controlled, but had we known about the poor condition up front, we would not have paid what they charged to play.
