In the fall planting season of 2018, I purchased a proverbial boatload of bulbs - both spring and fall blooming ones. I was focusing on Crocus (both spring and fall) and Colchicum. The customer service is excellent, shipping excellent, quality of the bulbs/corms excellent, and... every single danged bulb bloomed and out-performed all my expectations. I trust Brent and Becky's Bulbs absolutely. (Just a newbie gardener's note - Colchicum is apparently very resistant to predators, far more so than crocus, a favorite with all the woodland critters around here. )

I don't know why people often sing the praises of Brent & Becky's Bulbs. I've ordered several times from them and I am on the losing end of the deal every time. I consider narcissus to be pretty easy to grow, and have successfully done so for many years. This is the first time EVER that I had daffodil bulbs that didn't even come up. Also from the same order, I had 10 galanthus that came up but only produced 1 bloom, and some campernelles that also failed to produce blooms. Only 2 out of 5 bulbocodiums bloomed. Also have a complete cyclamen order that have done absolutely nothing. I also purchased bulbs from Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Rural King, Tractor Supply Co, MZ Bulb, Bulbs Direct, and they all come up and bloom! Brent & Becky must have me on a special list to only ship me the bad left over bottom of the barrel bulbs. All the above listed stores have just as big or bigger bulbs than Brent and Becky's. That should tell you something right there.

This place is amazing. For anyone who loves plants and nature, come here with at least 45 minutes to spare for roaming the extensive gardens and grounds. Brent is usually wandering around the gardens when we stop by and loves to chat with everyone who comes through. They are such a wonderful resource for bulb planting and local growing information. They do workshops and lectures, live music & wine and cheese in the garden, botanical painting, bee keeping demonstrations...and tons of other important gardening world stuff. Their daffodil selection is out of control - if you can visit in the springtime you should. Definitely a local gem. They also have an extensive online catalog for anyone out of state looking to order premium bulbs and perennials. I have been ordering from them for almost 10 years now, and have always received fresh healthy bulbs that performed beautifully. Thanks B&B!

twenty five years ago I ordered Mount Hood from the Daffodil Mart (Brent's mother and father). They were the wrong ones---yellow instead of white. I wrote (snail mail days) to them and they sent a sack full of Mount Hoods to replace the ones that were sent incorrectly. I am sure I didn't have a sack full amount in the original order! From that day , I said "that's a place I am sticking with!" And I have. They continue to offer wonderful customer service. Every person I have spoken with (Susan--today and others in the past ) has been stellar. Just like their daffodils!

Brent, Becky, Jay, Denise and all the employees of Brent and Becky's Bulbs and the Bulb Shoppe are the nicest and most helpful people ever. With a wealth of knowledge about plants and some of the best gifts and products available, you just can't go wrong. Whether ordering bulbs online or buying in person at the retail shop, it's a wonderful experience. At the shop there are numerous choices of live plant material, bulbs, handmade soaps and lotions, scarves, bird baths, pillows, gardening tools, jewelery, wine purses, dinnerware, etc. Etc. There is something for everyone.

I am very upset with this formerly great bulb vendor. Back in the summer, I carefully ordered many narcissus, crocus, and other bulbs. They asked my location and planned the shipping date accordingly. Then last week I ordered a few anemone that I needed immediately for a special project. They asked if they could combine the orders and I said no. This morning all bulbs arrived without giving me a chance to prepare for the large order which was so carefully chosen, so I am very angry. Everything I have ordered from them previously has been top-notch in quality and service, but now they have disappointed me greatly and I will have to look for a vendor who actually pays attention to its customers.

I have purchased from Brent and Becky's for years now. They have wonderfully sized bulbs that look great in the first season and thrive in my garden. I've often recommended them to friends and family. The poor review is due to the results from my last order, which I placed about a year ago now. I purchased $75 worth of bulbs from them, was charged for the order but never received them. Upon emailing them multiple times I never got a response. I'm tempted to purchase from them again because I love their selection and quality so much, but it feels wrong to purchase more given my last experience.

I love all the off-the-wall stuff you can get in this place the only downside is it's a little pricey. I do attend the Gloucester Wine Festival every year and it's probably one of the best in the Hampton Roads area.
