REVIEWS OF Seward Community Co-op - Friendship Store IN Minnesota

zippocrow

Bit pricy, but great selection and quality. I buy my staples elsewhere, but when I need quality meats or amazing bulk selection I go no where else.

Nathan Duin

Great place, you should go right now.

Robia Wagner

Fantastic salad bar!

Jocelyn Steinke

This is a great co-op. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a good variety of options despite being a smaller location. The parking lot is easy to navigate.

David Thompson

Excellent natural foods coop! Super friendly staff. Great food selection. Not too big or crowded. Excellent hot food buffet. I love the food and eat there a couple times a week.

Dan huiting

I found the staff to be go-out-of-their-way helpful when I had questions, suggestions, or couldn’t find an item. Great place and wonderful location. They have “round-up” programs where you can round up your change and they give that money to a different local charity each month. One cashier told me it’s not chump change either, usually in the 20k range. Very cool.

Gabriel Hanson

The cheese and crackers sections at this coop is amazing!

Mike Allen

Really good produce and an amazing selection of spices, coffees, nuts, and grains. Their meat section and good and you can pick up duck fat when they have some. The down side is they don't have a lot of staple items and sometimes you don't need organic locally sourced flour for $10 when a pack of Gold Medal would have worked.

Tony Gaughran

I have been shopping at this co-op for 3 years, and have not ever had a negative experience or bought low quality produce here. Always friendly service.

Costas Stavrou

Very nice and friendly place. Also a great place to eat.

Earl Netwal

Had a Saint Patricks day meal here which was pretty good. Suspect the intention of this location was intended to provide good food to the local "inner city" population - but the customer base seemed to be from outside the target population - probably due to the high prices

Maya Weisinger

Free, big parking lot Good plant and garden selection Helpful staff Good salad bar and hot foods Remember to bring your own bag Limited bulk selection

Mpls MN

Amazing products quality and service

Kevin Odam

Classy swanky grocery store for the organic-hipster type!

Raine Lampert

Member owned. Awesome products. Great staff!!

Sharon Ramirez

I like this convenient natural foods cooperative. Good variety of organic fruits and vegetables, good variety of hot table/ready to go foods. Clean and bright, and seems to employ more people of color than other food co-ops in town.

Abbi Dempsey

Nice co-op but slightly confusing name as it's not really in the Seward neighborhood. Great selection of vegan goods as well as typical co-op fare.

Jeffrey Meek

Fantastic community co-op! Very good vegetarian options

Sean Kelly

The Seward co-op stores are definitely among my favorites in the Twin Cities area. This particular location seems to have an especially knowledgeable crew working at the meat counter. While they are often out of particular items, the variety of selections makes up for some unpredictability.

Scott Stover

This is a great little grocery store. I love their dedication to making programs like WIC work for everyone. Rotisserie chickens are a great value and the deli is reliably good. You don't have to think about weather the food is healthy or not. It always is healthy.

Thomas Stringfellow

It's very clean,The staff friendly. Nice place to shop.

Bradley Gienger

My favorite co-op. Deli is magical!!

Dorwatha Woods

I am new to Seward Community Co-op. I am most impressed with their green apple hand pies-a very healthy but tasty sweet treat! I also love that they sell cuts of meat that others dispose of - poultry carcus, kidneys, fish heads and rather meaty fish bones! The personnel are friendly, multi-ethnic, multi-age, and very helpful!

Megan Sellheim

Great selection. Love their in store coffee shop. It is one of the only places I could find coconut milk as a dairy substitute for a latte, etc. The also have a great work or meeting space behind the registers.

Michael Nelson

Great store, love shopping the despite being a little expensive..

Stef Valentina

The best place for local, organic fair trade, bulk foods. Absolutely My favorite place

gina dalton

The owners that work there are very friendly and helpful. I'm a gluten-free vegan and this place had so much to offer.

Wenn Townsend

Love this new co-op! Wish they had a better deli, but otherwise I go there for everything.

Morgan Blenis

I love the unique selection of groceries and goods here. They have a good amount of vegan options, but everywhere can always add more. The Luv Ice Cream is amazing.

SpoonerLove

Love this place. Expensive as hell but beautiful.

William Menday

I love this place . Staff are great! This store should be call "healthy people's food club" btw, if anyone decide to steal that name , they better consult me first. Anyway, go experience it for yourself . Pay a visit to this location. Now, when they see my resume they will have no choice but to hire me. Lol good day.

alliethehuman21

Downright the most pleasant experience I have had with a grocery store. Probably the nicest staff, too. They have anything cooking related you might need, even a cafe. 10/10 would recommend everyone shop here.

Brett Bennett

Excellent secondary location for Seward co-op. Well-renovated for a grocery, with all the amenities of a high-end cooperative. Excellent deli and bulk section as well. Only improvement would be to the layout, allowing for easier finding of central ingredients, i.e., ghee.

Kathleen McGee

Great staff!

John Engstrom

Great co-op to get your groceries

Reya Laing

Extremely helpful staff. Excellent selection. Amazing sales. Become a member and look for deals. It's no more pricey than other co-ops. I love this new location.

Stephen Moore

Nice coop, good access and light traffic on 38th, Park/Portland/Nicollet, plenty of parking

Devin Roll

Easily my favorite place to shop for groceries. The staff are some of my favorite people in town. I went to the same cashier on my second trip, and he remembered my name. Now we strike up conversation every time we see each other in the store. The selection is diverse, including bulk sale produce, spices, teas, and more that I would struggle to find elsewhere.

Keith Anderson

I love going down to the co-op and looking through the produce and meat sections, feeling inspired, and bringing home dinner. The produce is fresh. The meat counter is extensive (usually have fresh goat and lamb). I love the cheese selection and international foods.

David Hovis

Pretty good store but the staff is a mixed bag

Jeff Goodman

Your friendly neighborhood co-op with inclusive policies and locally sourced organic foods worthy of your patronage.

Morgan Roddy

I love my co-op, but the produce here has really not been up to par lately. Lots of older produce on the shelves, fruit flies circling. Some basic items have been hard to find recently as well. But overall I love the nice people here and the meat counter is a good place to get quality items.

Megan Carrington

Friendliest people who go out of their way to find what you are looking for. I love their salads too!

Eli Johnson

Great bulk selection, friendly staff, a bit pricy but to be expected from a co-op serving primarily organic products.

Veronica Walther

Love the Friendship Store! I was so excited to have a co-op open close to my home and it has become our go-to. It's amazing how much product and goodness can be crammed into this location.

Kay Michael Grace-Freeman

Everyone working here is so helpful and friendly. Really good produce and I love the bulk spices and nut flours.

Josh Hass

Clean store with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff makes the store worth it - every time I had need of a recommendation on what sort of food to go with what or just help finding something, someone was always willing to help me out.

Brenda Balling

Better food, friendly service. Yummy strawberries.

Tom Spitzer

Temporarily living in neighborhood, so thought I'd check it out. Very nice produce, good meats, great selection of bulk goods. Friendly folks.

Jennie Houghton

Great service, helpful staff, large selection of products. My favorite place to shop!

Allison Dorn

Good parking and retail product. Food not so much.

Josh Disher

Nice little neighborhood co-op with a good selection of products and produce. They even have a deli with hot food and pastries. Theres even an area to sit and eat. Staff is helpful and friendly. The meats and bulk departments are very impressive too. Parking has never been an issue. They also have bike parking like the other seward co-ops.

Sara Kelly

LOVE this place. Their meat bundles are awesome, and I love being able to buy some of my favorite things in bulk (and receive a member discount from doing so). Great healthy/organic options, and great to see the assortment of local products. Some items can be a tad overpriced, but I'm grateful for being able to make this my one-stop grocery store (so sometimes I pay the premium for convenience).

Eliot Dodd

Staff is very nice and friendly. Prices are very reasonable for a food Co-op in a city. They do have markdown items (great deals in bulk section). The atmosphere is very inviting, mellow, and well set up. Highly recommend.

Pat w

There are several comments about the prices being high. Individuals who are low income, or who have a disability can sign up at the information desk to get a discount which is automatically deducted from the total purchase at the register.

Andrew Zay

This place is generally an awesome experience, but I have one complaint/request I have to make of the management and it's this- y'all need to implement a single "feeder" line like at a bank that feeds into multiple open registers/register workers. As it is, there's no self-checkout line, there's not a consistent express lane, and the lines all seem to move at completely arbitrary speeds. I know this is a childish thing to feel frustrated about, but it's a nightmare picking the ONE INCREDIBLY SLOW LINE and seeing 3-4 people who started behind me check out before me when I usually only buy a handful of items at once. Again, amazing selection and kind staff, but this one logistical frustration in actually shopping there.

Warren Cassatt

What a better world this would be if this kind of a place was the standard for a grocery store!

John Ridenour

Classic coop.

Matthew Gilman

Always a great time at the coop. Great smells.

Bella Grace

They have very friendly staff, and a great selection of fresh ingredients. You are going to spend about double what you would pay at target, etc. for a lot of groceries so I only shop here for a few things. You have to bring your own bag or pay 5 cents for a paper bag and bag your own groceries. It's very much DIY. I like the concept of a co op but I price shop and can get fresh produce that supports local farmers other places and better quality for way cheaper. However, we love getting our fresh coffee beans from here and I picked up a whole rotisserie chicken for only $9.99! You cant beat that price. I buy two organic frozen chicken breasts and it usually runs about $7.99-9.99. Their hot/cold bar is pretty small but it's nice to be able to pick something up quick.

Don MacLeod

Nice store with plenty of selections for produce and other grocery items. Great deli counter. The sell the Wedge's fresh bread as well. Lots of treats in the cooler on the way out. I would give them 5 stars, but a lot of items are a lot more expensive than other stores. I guess they have to pay the mortgage for the 2 new stores, but it is still worth dropping by. Very friendly staff as well.

H Ismailov

One of a kind place . I would even rate more then 5 stars

lillian richman

As soon as this grocery store opened, my family started coming here consistently. The customer service is amazing and the options for produce and packaged products is wide.

Wyatt Heimlich

The best staff and service! Always an enjoyable and comfortable shopping experience.

Javon Padgett

Always great deals, sales, and people! I just found out that you can refill your empty gallon jugs with filtered water for 38¢. Bomb. Coummity gathering place, space for laptops and groups. Hot and cold food to go. Liked o said: Bomb.

Jenny Heck

My go-to grocery store! Love the staff and the products and not too much traffic.

Erik Laing

This market is a gem on the south side. Glad to have another option. Good selection, great bulk section and convenient parking for bikes out front!

juan Morales

Great stuff... ready to help

Scott Watkins

The Seward co-op Friendship Store is a great place for produce, meats, and specialty foods. The organic produce is excellent, and the meat department sources excellent products.

Daniel Schaff

Kind friendly staff, good food, fresh produce.

Carla J Magnuson

Great food selection & super cool staff. A bit pricey but worth it.

William 'Skip' Dykoski

This is the only place I get all my groceries. My daughter used to work here in the wellness section (very knowledgeable, she's a homeopath), but ONE customer complained about her - mgmt. unfairly climbed down her throat - she left and never came back. :,(

william leeroy francisco

Exspenive

Jeremiah Johnson

They have a big selection of specialty foods that you can't get just anywhere. Ot is more expensive, but since it's a co-op you can join to get better deals. You can also feel good knowing your money isn't going to a bar company. The employees are generally nice.

Kurt Andersen

Good shopping experience, they have some hard to find items (especially produce). Some stuff seems overpriced but that's the way it generally goes with co-op items.

Carl Forsline

Friendly staff, thoughtful products and treats!

Krystal Bjurling

I love yons kim chi

nizzi _no_life

Nice place great food

Jon Reek

Helpful staff and great sustainable selections. Obviously pretty pricey

Bradley Pridgeon

Great selection of healthy and vegan/ vegetarian foods. Friendly staff.

glenn byer

Conveniently located branch of the best twin cities co-op. Way less traffic than the original makes this location a great choice for a quick errand

Rosario Gutierrez

Love going here. They have a friendly and fresh atmosphere. I can always find what I need.

Danyelle Fisher

Amazing produce, even more amazing and friendly staff, everything you need for delicious and healthy meals! Plus much more!

Andres Moreno

Great produce, meats, and locally sourced products whenever possible. Also carry national organic/natural brands.

Sophia Moschkau

Awesome selection, everything you could need and lots of locally sourced produce.

Cheech & Chong

Prices are unimaginably high, almost like reality stops when you enter. Good quality, but come on!

Jeremy Hamblin

It's a very small town store is it Coop so that means you volunteer and you get discounts if you work there and you volunteer because the prices are very high but if you want organic you want healthy food this is supposed to go just like any co-op I'm not putting down any coops cuz this is a nice co-op store so all co-ops are very good to me and very nice I like to go to them so thank you

Uncle Bacon Face

Love coming here for the onion + alfalfa sprouts! Not to mention the bulk basil and bulk mushrooms. Their beef offering is incredible from steak to everything in between. Plus, sometimes hi ball is on sale!!

Sabrina Petersen

Very friendly, clean, and inviting atmosphere. Staff is attentive and friendly. They have great coffee and a nice area to sit and read, converse, or do some work. Good variety of products as well.

Lillian Manthey-LaFrenierre

Love this store! I love all of the options here! You can get vegan, vegetarian, zero waste, and natural products here.

Yussuf Mohamed

The best place u can shop and save some money

Anna

I love shopping here. They have such interested products and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I even have a few favorite cashiers because they often make my day because of how nice, friendly, or quirky they are. I used to hate going grocery shopping but I am always happy to come to Seward.

Bj H

Great grocery store. Lots to choose from and helpeful staff!

Jenell Holden

Everyone's helpful and kind , peaceful environment affordable prices

Orrin Dabney

Kombucha on tap, and a big seating area if you want hot food. Standard coop groceries, with a steep price if you don't pay attention to what you pick up. Great bulk section though.

Ashley Gertonson

Awesome store! Quality products from ethical companies. Much of it local! Very helpful and friendly staff and a lot of samples!

Becca Griffith

I love this Seward Co-op location! They embody the bame of friendship! Very friendly & very helpful. Great selection & great sales when tou come on the right days. I shope here regularly!

Caitlin O'Fallon

Shopping at a coop is such a mixed-emotions experience: on the one hand, you're buying organic, probably local, maybe sustainably sourced food that's going to do your body good! On the other hand, it's expensive and you feel a little douchy and, it's in a lower income neighborhood which just feels messed up. Are you doing good things for yourself AND the community?! We sure hope so! This is a great small coop that will satisfy the average coop shopper in most ways! Their hot buffet is off the chain, their nutter-butter smoothy is

Ashton J

Friendly staff and a good selection but often overpriced. I know a co-op often stocks higher priced items but the better ones (like Wedge) offer more budget options. They have a "co-op basics" line for supposed budget items that still feel expensive. That said it's great to have in the neighborhood.

Alexandra McLaughlin

Seward co-op is amazing! Staff are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Some items are pricier, but organic and ethically/locally sourced items tend to be pricey anyways.

Michael Freeman

One of the three places I shop at weekly for food. If I could get my budget up to $1,000 for food a month I would only shop here no question about it. From The Butcher Shop to the bulk food 2 the buffet. The staff is so damn nice you think that they're Faking It. All I Ever Had is kindness from anyone that's worked here.

Shaun Meyer

Local co op, has a fantastic hot bar, among all the other things to love about a co op.

Bryn Montello

Absolutely amazing co-op. Someone assisted me right away in the aromatherapy and supplements. Ask about using food stamps...I heard that you can get an affordability discount if you use EBT...

J. Barnzie

Great specials and the staff is nice

Brett Slocum

What a selection of yummy ice cream!

Anna Aurora

It's well stocked and all the locals go there, because it is busy all the time.

Daniel Dickerson

Amazing food. There was a great deal going on where you could get a pound of black beans and rice for just 1.99!!!!

Stephen Lucas

I do all of my grocery shopping here. Great staff that know the products and will order and stock items you want.

Gavin Dullinger

Great place to get avacodos and organic coffee

Caley Barry

I very much enjoy going here . The staff is friendly and helpful. I am fortunate to have this establishment within walking distance to where I live.

Philip Hanley

I love going to the Seward Co-op. The staff are always helpful and friendly when I go. There are so many different things there that you won't find at other grocery stores.

Chris Langert

Eh it's nice enough but it doesn't have the same warmth and vibrancy as the Franklin Ave location. (It is also literally very cold physically.) I'm also somewhat irked that they don't carry all the same items, especially in the bulk section, and that many items can only be purchased in pre-bagged quantities. Like, say I only want 5 figs for dessert after the meal I just ate there. Nope can't do that. Have to buy a bag of them and spend like 3-4 times as much as I wanted to. Sure, I'll have a supply of figs for the future, but that's not the point. The issues certainly have nothing to do with space concerns, as the place is huge and wide open. In fact, someone with agoraphobia might have a problem going there. A lower ceiling would have helped with that. Anyway, it's not *bad* and I don't mean to be a complainer, it's just that it isn't *great* like Franklin Ave is.

Therese Linderholm

I love coming here after work and picking up some hot foods to go. I like the committment they have to the neighborhood and they they make me want to eat healthier everytime I walk in.

Becky David

Easy to purchase healthy food in small quantities, friendly and polite staff delicious hot food bar.

Kim Blackmore

I love this store! Great fresh mushroom and produce selection and I find certain things in the bulk section that I can’t find at the Franklin store.

Sol Deleon

Fantastic local products and wonderful, helpful staff. This is one of my family's favorite places to shop in the Twin Cities.

Lisa Severson

Really nice, local co-op. Friendly staff, great food!

Vanessa Denise

Good food good service

Robert Lasher

Too expensive like most co-ops!

Shaun Mason

Indeed on the pricey side and plan on being accosted if you dare not contribute to one of the many charities or initiatives they pitch customers at checkout.

David Holt

Always impressed.

Caleb Kollie

Really clean, good variety, friendly staff.

Tami Bauers

Self serve hot deli and large seating area. Great staff and easy parking.

CeeCee D

Great staff and perfect little co-op for our neighborhood

Michelle Timme

This is a smaller co op so you might not find everything you were looking for. The produce department is very well maintained.

Maja Radovanlija

amazing store!

Duba Velo

Grocery store with good selection of natural and organic products. Anyone can shop here, whether you are a member or not, and becoming a member is easy if you choose to.

Michael Amos

I'm a big fan of Seward Coop. I buy most of my groceries at the Franklin store. The Friendship location is a little small but still a great location with great products.

Carmi Anderson

Beautiful, light, great food, friendly and fun co-op. I rarely cannot find what I need. I shop here for my everyday groceries.

Willie Lumpkins

Love the new co-op. Had a issue with a nigbt manager but the day manager called me, sorted it out and sent me a gift card for the issue!

jori

I was able to find nduja for an Italian dish I was preparing.

Tim Gugudan

Excellent service and products with a great opportunity to join and support small farms and the local community. Also the hot breakfast bar is swell.

Julie Amber Gianera

This is my favorite place to buy produce and I love that they have Baker's Field bread and Hope butter!

Nathan Peabody

Good selection for its size, great friendly staff and moderate pricing for the quality. The perfect neighborhood grocery store.

Rae W

Looooove it! Love that they let you sample the hot bar before you buy. Bulk section is lit!

Silvester Guadiana

Great organic/nat foods store. Selection is *sometimes* a bit limited, but only compared to larger co-ops.

Tyler Botnen

A great and convenient grocery store. Easy to get to and never too busy.

Patrick Levine

Always friendly service at this local grocery store. They've a wide selection of all-natural, organic and locally sourced food and beverages.

Melissa Clawson

Great service an knowledgeable staff! Food is always fresh and affordable!

Casey Strecker

Great food selection. Fantastic hot bar with a menu that changes daily.

Taylor Groenke

The best deli and salad bar. The best groceries and most knowledgeable staff.

Cardin Drakerav

Great people, great food. Touch pricey, but worth it. This place made me like salad

Laura Nethercut

Wonderful selection of organic and local products. Bulk options. Helpful staff. I always find great quality in everything I need.

Neal Lewandowski

if you are seeking gluten free, dairy free products, they have a great selection. also available is: hot food bar, yummy $1.50 cookies, knit hats and gloves, scented salts, bakery breads, dairy free cheeses, organic fresh and frozen meats, coffe, tea, kombucha, kim chee, gf pizza, gf/df crusts, coconut milk products and a fair selection of produce. lots of nicknacks and greeting cards available.

Mikolai Altenberg

Ok for a corporate "co-op" grocery store. Good selection, and better than the main Seward co-op, in terms of ease of shopping.

Ben Fadell

Friendly place with a good amount of cooked food for lunch. Beats any fast food place!

Marc Radinzel

One of the few stores where produce changes with the season due to local sourcing. Always delicious house made sausages and organic meats. This is one of my favorite places to get fresh delicious food.

S Olson

I like the idea, this store is 5 blocks from my house. However, while their service is great, their selection is lacking. They have very minimal vegan options (bakery, deli, and most of the store) so I drive to the Wedge rather than going here.

Jenny Taber-Hanson

Always love my local co-op!

telaney williams

If your a vegetarian like I am then this is a good place to go ,it definitely has more veggie options then a regular grocery stores, I don't like the racist/ toy/fake/rent a cop that sits in the parking lot tho

Rosanna Hudgins

Been a member since '03. Not "corporate" like other co-ops, they still listen to the members. Love the new Friendship store and the Creamery.

James Ferguson

Great produce and meat, but very expensive. This confuses me. I thought the sales pitch was that they would be bringing affordable food to a food desert. Not sure how affordable it is especially for families with a lower income.

JonJay Smith

Very peaceful place to go grocery shopping and you can just sit relax and do homework with they're unlimited wifi

Stephen Suss

Friendly staff and great food. I love out of town and find the Friendship Store easier to get to and I've never had trouble parking compared to most co-ops.

Clifton mcknuckles

Pleasant also security. For this establishment nice management an enmployees

Zack Anderson

Lame. Overpriced. Neighborhood needed a grocery store but not this one.

Slim Bjaxon

New clean store with items you expect at a health food coop for food and diet supplements and etc. As usual the quality items they carry are higher price than regular grocery stores.
