This Fruit Store belongs to the category of Grocery store.
The bakery just made the best cake I’ve ever seen. It was so beautiful. I’ve always thought Valu Market cakes tasted the best and this one was no exception. I asked for an “ocean/beach” theme and this cake went beyond all of my expectations. You have really outdone yourselves. I will be back for all of my cake needs and tell all of my friends to do the same.
This is the only place that had the orange cream ale 8. Friendly staff. Expensive
When you go in, it feels like going into 'Cheers'. Everybody knows your name. The quintessential local grocery store. Good fresh produce, deli food only average, but good for what it is. Great cheese selection. Love the butchers. And they deliver, which in the winter is a Huge plus. Shop local, shop here.
Love shopping here!!! Always great atmosphere !!! Plus they have Butterfinger candy bars !!!
Loved the store. I will definitely be back.
Excellent grocery store. Valu Market sells very small cheese samples so you can explore flavors to discover what you like at a low cost. The Valu Market walk-in
Really polite courteous workers good prices
The employees here are really nice and the location is convenient but the prices are a little too high for a value market.
Great deli!
Great grocery store..the best!!!!
I have tried to give Valumarket many chances. It’s too bad because they are extremely convenient for me. But guess what? The customer service is nonexistent. The meat case smells suspicious. The cashiers act like they don’t understand what their job description actually is. I get nothing but lethargy. What is happening here? The managers are useless. Good bye Valu Market! I’m going ANYWHERE else.
Great place to shop.
Have only shopped here a few times, but it has always been an enjoyable experience. The store is not too large, but still contains an adequate selection of groceries, meats and fresh produce. I've never gotten anything from their Deli, but it looks bright and inviting. Not really a super "Value" store, but prices on most items are equivalent to prices found at other chain stores like Kroger. There is ample parking in the Mid City Mall lot, with entrances on both the Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue sides.
Great selection of food both local and international. This is always my first choice of for a grocery store that is sadly too far away to shop there often. Local place instead of the national chains.
I found some great deals. Will definitely be back.
Always double check the prices. Often different at the checkout
Outstanding customer service
All of my old school fixings right under my nose. All tge ingredient originals to have it tasting just like mom use to make.
Convenient.
I like this place it has unique things that you can't find just anywhere like local things. A little on the expensive side on some things but they often have good deals on meats and their chicken in the deli is very good
Variety of various items, inexpensive and clean
Nice place. It feels like you fell through a time hole to 1986 when walk through the doors.
Love buying meat here
Fine if you just need to pick up a few things. Expensive, compared to Kroger. I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here for that reason. As far as supply, though, it is as good as any. I thought the quality of the produce was exceptional. I did not get anything, but I thought the food in the Deli dept looked good, too.
Prices are highest in the city and the staff is rude. It is not uncommon to see employees nodding off. Most of the time they just stare at the ground and mumble commands robotically to get you through the process. Sometimes they yell at each other, all the while you are waiting for them to resume ringing in your groceries.
Valu market is clean, service is friendly, lines are rarely long and prices compare to Kroger. It has a great hot food, cheese and meat deli, as well as a beer selection with a walk in cooler to supplement the stacks at the aisle end caps. Always pleasant. Unfortunately, they've had to close the doors leading directly into the mall.
If you are driving down Bardstown rd with its excellent selection of restaurants but just want a tasty, healthy, inexpensive meal pull into the Mid-city Mall and the Xtra-Valu market will satisfy you if a salad bar, the deli's selection of everything from tuna or chicken salad, baked beans, great potatoe salads the best fried cod served with sides. Meat loaf and Chicken Cordon Bleu, Quiche. The friendly staff assure your lunch will be quickly ready and if you are undecided they will gladly suggest delicious options. I can't pass by Mid-City Mall without picking up lunch at Valu-Mart or if it's later in the day enjoying a cold one at one of the Highlands and Louisville's finest bars that also has a first class kitchen that is open late. John knows his clientele and the business, his dedicated crew led by Marianne and an All-star lineup make The BackDoor another reason why it's difficult to pass by the Mid-city Mall, so drive in and support local businesses. We will all prosper. So says the King O'Scots. A.R.B. Aw Ra Best.
Valu Market is a much-needed grocery in the Highlands area. It serves many customers within walking distance, serving as the perfect lifesaver for locals in need of a forgotten last-minute ingredient, or just needing an emergency beer run. The selection is decent, with more emphasis on the fresh foods, deli, bakery, and beer than on the dry and canned goods. However, since this isn't a big chain with it's own brand, expect to be confronted with name-brand selection and the corresponding name-brand prices (vs finding generics). Great place to find hard to find Spanish seasonings and food , the meat is priced right and the Cuban is the bomb❤❤❤❤
Great neighborhood grocery. The staples and other fun food items And friendly staff.
This place is very convenient to stopping by on my way home from work. They're a little pricey on some things but they have a variety here that you don't have to find another grocery stores I particularly like their deli section even though I never get there till after it's closed and I only get the stuff that we've sitting out that usually some pretty good deals on this stuff. Sandwiches in pre-made foods that you can throw in the microwave later and have a meal.
This is one of my favorite grocery stores I have ever been to. Their staff is always extremely helpful. Also, best beer selection in town!
Last local grocer in Louisville. Good sales & prices in butcher shop/meats. Know your prices however because general grocery items may be higher. Excellent selections of local microbrews and beers on draught.
I shoo on line and have delivery service I have never had a problem
This store is great for people with disabilities! In the store, you can go to the service counter that is directly inside the outside doors to get assistance. Plus, they have a delivery option for about $17 that includes a $12 delivery charge and a $5 shoppers charge. I might not be exact on the price, but I have to say it is really convenient to have the delivery option. Also, very service dog friendly! Not only the staff, but the shoppers too.
I was very surprised by this store. It made my little Vegan heart smile! They had some great options for Vegans. Small but STILL options! Organic and Non-GMO. I was relieved. Its hard to find decent food when you live downtown, ESPECIALLY when you are vegan and they're just aren't enough stores like this.
I like going to the local store when I can. I don't know how their prices compare with Kroger but their layout is easy to navigate. They also have taps to fill growlers which is a nice plus. I haven't tried their grocery delivery or pickup but that is tempting...
It has a good selection of fresh produce. Everything is beautifully presented.
Get yourself one of these! They are great and really cheap to fill have a great beer selection and pretty cheap to fill!
Their produce is always fresh. The deli is excellent.
Great place. Nice people. Although if you want to be quick at the check out lane. Bag your groceries. It gets you out quick and they appreciate it. Still nice place.
It was a bit of a bummer coming in here. Display cases were empty (and showing rust). Prepared food in the deli was looking sad as well. Not at all like I remembered. :(
This store supports craft beer.Awsome.Huge selection.Great produce.Wonderful deli.Convenient location.
Got a shrimp dinner tonight. Got home 10 minutes later and found the shrimp were burned and hard, simply not edible. Okra was spongy, and cold. Usually a good dinner but a new elderly man serving took no notice as he dished it up. The regular people wouldn't have even served this. So no dinner and not going back until their regular people are there. Plus the portion wouldn't have fed my grandchild.
Store need a remodeling just look and feel old when you walk in there, floor looks stained and the shelves look dirty and old
My Grocery Store ☆☆☆☆ Get Valu Card. Lot of items reduced. Friendly and well Informed of products they carry.
Great variety. Higher prices than some others. Three workers helped me find an important ingredient.!! Late on Thanksgiving eve. Wish prices were comparable to other chain stores. However, meat products are the best quality...
Can't beat the fresh produce (from a locally owned store.) VERY nice personnel.
Just came and got a few things. My shopping experience was great until I got the the register and Dontayzia was extremely rude and very obviously not wanting to be there. She had to call for a manager multiple times to help customers in front of me because they were buying beer or other things she couldn’t ring up because she was too young (I’m assuming). But the entire time she huffed in our faces complaining about how the the line was. I was fine to wait a few minutes in line since it was late at night and there were few employees, but that just made it ridiculous.
Good produce, good meat selection, pretty good deals. Like the deli a lot. The employees are usually very friendly. Small enough to be super convenient. Sometimes the lines are a little to long but that's about my only complaint. Maybe could use a remodel.
It's the only one that stays open late
I found this place to be quite expensive for a Value Market....
Good produce and meat. The bakery isn't so good and neither is the frozen section. Make sure to check expiration dates.
My favorite grocery...they have everything I need in the perfect sized store. No walking the length of 2 football fields to get milk.
I go there for their great sales .
It's a good supermarket, but I rarely go here because things usually cost more than other places.
Support local business
Great variety of vegetables
Nice neighborhood grocery store. Fresh locally made bread and Russellville milk are available here.
Great service and food. Meat Sale!
Expensive people friendly
Always good, love going to the Valumarket!!!
They always have what I need. This product really helps me. And it is hard to find. Thanks Valued Market
Most pleased with the staff - always friendly and helpful. Incredible assortment of products - love it.
Employees are very helpful in finding items, and navigating sales and promotions. I will continue to shop there.
This is the definition of a neighborhood grocery. Everyone goes there. It's the first place we look for anything and it has most things for decent quality and a fair price. The only way to make it better would be to expand into the parking lot!
Probably my favorite grocery store ever. I love this place!
Everything is dead it's bad don't come here
Quick and courteous service always
Fantastic local market offering a large variety of American and many ethnic offerings along with a hot deli that provides hot meals too. Don't miss a chance to stop in and check it out.
I absolutely hate going to the grocery but I love Valu market. It is not a giant super center. Nice clean and convenient. I really love not walking a mile for a gallon of milk. The deli is always staffed with friendly people and Cuban sandwich is amazing!
Locally owned. Local products. Love going there when I'm in town
Management and cashiers are rude, unprofessional, and unorganized. They deserve to be fired and replaced. This particular grocery store may go out of business like its sister store on Hurstbourne Parkway did. It is highly recommended that one does not shop at Valu Market.
Best cakes ever!!! Whipped icing is AMAZING!!
Do you need groceries? Cool, this place has that. Do you want to pay a bit more than going to Kroger but also support local business? Sure, okay, then this place. Do you want good produce at a reasonable price? Maybe find somewhere else. BUT. Do you want a hella nice beer selection that'll make you stand in a freezing beer cave pouring over all your options for twenty minutes? Then this is the place for you.
Easy quick stop shopping. Not a big selection but a fast in and out grab a couple things on my way home type place.
Best selection of produce I have seen, in a long time. Downtown Produce in Florida is about the last time. This store is awesome, great prices. However, got to watch out for some items that are overpriced. Much cheaper at Kroger, like milk. That is with most stores though, but I enjoyed my experience.
Because I have done my grocery at this location for over 30 years, I consider the store and the folks who work there as part of my life. They have great produce and really try to have fresh local produce. I prefer to get my meat here - they have "Amish" chickens and other select locally grown meat. It's a small store with a little bit of a lot. I like talking with them when I visit. Very friendly.
Nice shopping and a great way to spend time at the movies
Great varieties of produce and food. Remember to check the quality and expired day though.
Good locally owned grocery store. Very happy with it's location.
As somebody that uses a longer profile power wheelchair The mid City Mall valu market is a less-than-ideal situation to navigate. Many of the aisles have displays in the middle of the aisle meaning there's less room to maneuver and you are lucky if anyone ever sees you and volunteers any assistance or help for things that are on higher shelves, you're more likely to have a friendly customer asked if you need assistance than an employee. Also if you're in the mall itself you have to leave them all and go in their front door is as they no longer allow access through the sliding doors on the side of the grocery that exited into the mall proper. One thing I do recommend is whenever they have a big meat sale at the grocery they will have a grill outside to help promote the meat sale and sell barbecue, ribeye sandwiches, bratwurst, and burgers which are reasonably priced and very tasty so check it out the next time they have one of those meat sales advertised.
It's alright. They have what most food market chains have. Seem to have allot of problems with their self checkout though, it's patched up with stickers. And why close the entrance into the mall?
Locally owned. Very friendly deli staff. Especially Dee Dee. Great cake decorator, Samole (hope I spelled his name right). They carry a lot of Ky Proud items. Great filet at the butcher counter
Always good
Good place to shop for dinner or specialty foods. Lotsa Pasta products and a huge beer selection.
Always shop here when I can. Has great sales.
The best Fried chicken
The customer service was excellent!! I hope you are paying Shey well, because she was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!!
This value market is one of the smaller value market. It does have a lot more upscale items than the others do. Employees are sometimes questionable as far as their knowledge sometimes a little perturbed that you ask them a question. Other than that it's a good store. Plenty of handicap parking places out front automatic doors for easy entrance and exit.
Nice Neighborhood Market.
It nice. Lots of options for the size. You shop for groceries, check put books at the library, hit the gym, have dental work done, catch a movie, grab a sub, go to a buffet and enjoy some persian cuisine.
This place is a gem . Great location. Wonderful deli. Good seafood. Fresh produce . Convenient parking.
Great placed grocery store that makes running to get something quick in the Highlands very convenient. Not as big as a Kroger, instead has a more home town feel to it. Awesome selection of organic products.
How can I describe yesterday's visit? Disappointing! The young man who checked me out was rude. This isn't the first visit to this location that I've experienced this type of treatment which is why I shop at kroger. I used to be a regular at valumarket up until a year and a half ago. I stopped shopping there frequently because of the poor service.
Dirty store. Way over priced, make sure not to forget your value card you will be publicly shamed, as they do not allow you to enter your phone number. Extremely Rude manager and staff. Used to be a convenient location to pick a few things up, after today I will never be back.
They always have delicious produce that's very fresh. Their Deli is fantastic. They have a great craft beer and wine section and selection. A wonderful Seafood counter. They also have a great vegan and international section. My only problem with the place is it's a little overpriced.
Some prices too high
Not my regular store, yet I enjoy their selection. They have some things I can't get at my store.
First time I've been there, and I will definitely be back! Great Store!
Value market is truly a wonderful family orientated grocery store. Would strongly recommend you try value market. They have a very large selection as well as specialty items from local producers. If you have the opportunity stopped by the mid City Mall look for a product called McKayla's incense it's the best incense that we have ever smelled.
Has a great beer and cheese selection
Cynthia greets me everytime she is working. The rest of staff are just as friendly and knowledgeable.
Good location. Not terribly busy even on the weekend. Staff is courteous and helpful. Everything is organized and well stocked. Lots of vegan options and local food. My only complaint is that the self checkout area is crowded and the scanners need updating.
I really really love this grocery. And all the employees are friendly. Great selection. Fresh produce. Good beer. Average organic section.
Best produce in the city, outside of pricey f markets.
So consistently impressed with their service! That is literally something I have never said about a grocery store...ever. They are not only are easy to find, but the staff are friendly and helpful. They have gone above and beyond to help me find items. There is also a huge organic/alternative section, so more adventurous or diet-restricted eaters will be so pleased.
Been shopping there off and on for years good place to shop at everyone so nice if you can't find what you are looking for they will gladly help you fine it great place
