OH MY GOODNESS! This store has been in Denton for eons. They have the best prices and the best service for your pets. We have known the brothers that own this shop for at least 20 years and they have a wonderful assortment of dog, cat, bird, and a great fish collection. I couldn’t believe they moved from their old place off of Fulton and University to be next to the Movie Tavern. I was SO HAPPY when I found them again. My son and I bought four tarantulas there (and all the equipment) four different snakes ( and all their equipment). They sell small birds, chameleons, lizards, and I believe if you ask them they can find whatever you are looking for. They are the sweetest pair of people that run their own pet store. I LOVE PURCHASING from them! I enjoy just going into there store to find there different items that the major pet stores do not have! GO THERE and find this little pet shop and find out for yourselves. Hidden Jewel!

Unhealthy animals in less than ideal living conditions. Poor variety of supplies which were pretty outdated. It felt like a poor quality shop from the 80s.

I drive an hour to get there cause I heard about what a great place this was to buy pets. I wasn't overly impressed but I found a beautiful bearded dragon and took him home. I noticed right away that something wasn't right and drove back the next day. The person who helped me was not friendly at all and put the poor baby I brought back into the tank with the others and at that point I decided I wanted a refund. He wouldn't refund...he basically insinuated that I did something wrong... so instead of making a scene, I went ahead and picked out another. This one is doing fine so far but because of the way I was treated, I'll never go back. I sure hope they got the beardie I took back the care it needed. I got the impression that he cared more about the money than the animals.

Yikes! This is a tough one. The smell hit us hard when I and my son first walked in. We just went to browse and it caught us by surprise. It's no petsmart but it had various fish, parakeets, ferrets, Guinea pigs, reptiles what else can I say it's a pet store w some limitations to what you'll find. Btw the smell subsided after being in there for a lil bit

I love this little mom and pop pet store, they dont have much in the way of supplies but the animals are well taken care of, the feeder animals are healthy and priced well and the staff are kind and knowledgeable.

Im really not one to leave bad reviews but i cant help this one. The first thing i see when i walk in are the "hand fed baby cockatiels" theres only one and it is covered in bugs and has the worst case of foot tapping syndrome i have ever seen. It was growling non stop and was obviously miserable and terrified. Everything about the condition this poor obviously not hand fed baby cockatiel was wrong. it was filthy and terrified of humans and is probably dead now. the only reason i didnt rescue it is because i had no money and they wanted $75 for a basically dead bird.I am completely disgusted by what i saw. Also i understand pet stores dont smell good but as soon as you walk in you are hit with the smell of dead animals and bodily fluids its overwhelming. in almost every enclosure there are dead pets. extremely old and rotten food. reptiles are being eaten alive by the live food that was left to grow up in the reptile enclosures. and dead fish in rotting tanks. It is so sad this place is allowed to stay open and even more sad people actually buy stuff here and support their business. hopefully someone will come investigate this place soon.

Best fish store in Denton! The staff are always helpful and very knowledgeable. All the fish I've bought here have been healthy and are all still alive. Make sure to stop by on friday when they get their new fish.

Best pet store in Denton. Especially if you're lucky enough to come when the owner is here. He is extremely knowledgeable about the animals, especially the fish and birds. He hand raises the birds, and the fish are much healthier than the ones you will find at Petco or Petsmart. One experience that always stuck out to me was when I was buying some chemicals for an aquarium and he asked me why I had a certain bottle. It turns out I didn't need it, and I put it back on the shelf. He lost a sale, but gained a customer.

I bought 3 fish from them, then went 2 days later and bought 2 more of the same kind....both of them died. Then I went back and told the owner and he pretty much blamed the fish dieing on me....all though the other 3 were still alive and well. So I bought 4 more of the same kind of fish, brought them home and left them in the bag to get used to the water in the tank, 3 made it and 1 died...I dont think its tank or the water cause all the fish would be dead and my snails....I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THAT PLACE AGAIN

Ive gotten four fish from here at different times and 2 have died. One killifish developed a weird scoliosis and when i called to ask if they thought he was sick, because of the curved spine and fading fins. they said that he was fine and sometimes their spines naturally grew into really wonky sickly looking shapes. As you can guess it was dead the next day, completely opaque too. When i first got my fish a girl told me to just feed my fish just every 2-3 days, well i just looked that up too and the first 10 articles all say to feed once or twice daily, maybe letting them fast one day every 2 weeks. Doesn’t seem like good advice now. The other one that died was a molly, who has been specifically singled out as a fish with a small stomach who needs to eat multiple times a day. My second molly is not doing too well right now but i will be feeding more often. Also the plants they sold me always float up out of the water but my 2 plants from petsmart have stayed rooted since i planted.

My roommate and I love fish (we have 3 aquariums and breed fish) and we also love Fish N Chirps. They have a great selection of pet food and accessories, and the owners/staff are very knowledgeable. Plus, they have a really nice selection of fish that are healthier and in far superior condition to anything you could get at a chain store. This place is great and we love giving local places our business.

Denton is so lucky to have a locally owned pet supply store. Fish n Chirps is a great member of our local community. They offer high quality pet foods and supplies. If you want to purchase a bird or a small animal, this is probably one of the most ethical choices in the area. The staff is ever helpful and attentive. A great place to spend local dollars.

Animals are clearly neglected. Dead anole already dry and leathery with age. I alerted an employee and he was completely apathetic. Cages are dirty and obviously haven't been maintained for quite some time. The least I can say is the fish seem to be better cared for.

I love giving my support (and $) to little local places like Fish n Chirps. They have a good selection of healthy dog food- which can be hard to find other places. They have a frequent buyer card if your dogs eat Muenster kibble (local, from Muenster, TX), and they always offer to carry it to my car. We've also spent lots of time looking at their fish, birds, and little furry mammals. I would highly recommend this place!

this is by far a store I will always be loyal to. They truly care about their animals and are very knowledgeable about everything they carry. I got my tortoise, bearded dragon, my now large savannah monitor. And I take my dog to get her nails trimmed when she needs them from them. I get all my animals needs from them. They're cheaper than the bigger stores. And you get the best customer service. I've never had a bad dealing with them. They truly love their animals. And even hand feed and raise their Birds.
