As I read the reviews I realized that I'm not the only one that had the same experience with the same cashier. The young girl with the dark reddish hair was so rude when I asked her a question that I walk out without buying anything. They won't be getting my donations anymore.
The people working there are so so mean. Do not go to this place unless you what to be talk to like you where 2 again . prices are so stuip. 100 for a boot really that is so ridiculous .I asked for the other boot and she said ( boots are not for sale) she grabbed the boot out of my hand .then she did not even give me the right boot. I got only 4 things and it was $35.so go head and you will never ever see me there again.
Great thrift store to shop at
I volunteer there other than that its friendly and easy shopping
They have great stuff and good prices.
Always a great experience and great service!
Great place
Poor.... every thing was way over priced..
Always love going there, always find something I can use at the price I can afford!
Great people!
Very terrible service!! Not a thrift store. But an upiddy second hand store. The carson fish thrift store has much better understanding of what a thrift store is and much friendlier service.
So overpriced! They are trying to sell a butcher’s block for $500.
Overpriced considering its a thrift store and management is stinky as well
Great care from staff!
Good selection of merchandise. Prices are average and below average on common items. I appreciate that they have a boutique section for the pricier things.
Pleasant staff. Prices were too high for a thrift shop. Won't shop here again. Owners may want to consider turning on the heater on these cold Nevada days. Uncomfortable temperature. I gave them three stars because the young lady behind the counter was so nice. I didn't buy anything but my hubby did.
They want just as much$$ as if you was to buy new
I've always liked to go there until they put a young EXTREMELY RUDE girl as a cashier. Never going to buy there again.
Nice place to get ur furniture needs! Thank you.
Always a pleasure to shop here.
Staff are always very polite. Like any thrift store, it's all about the luck of the find, but Fish prices are very reasonable and their stores well organized.
This WAS my ultimate FAVORITE Thrift Shop!!! I had moved and went there to find warm reasonably priced cloths! I was so happy and felt fortunate and thankful! Cheaper than in Reno! .............then they remodeled! which is nice.... but now it is too expensive! I guess they forgot they were helping the buyer as well as what they could do for the community too! Sad. Off my list now!
Way way way overpriced! I will not come back.
Great prices!
Store is clean, well organized and has some nice displays. However, I love the old F.I.S.H. store from years ago.....Friendly and helpful staff, everyday reasonable prices, great selection and regular half price sales on Fridays. Those were F.I.S.H.'s golden days. Now everything is way overpriced! The store in Carson is overpriced too now that they've remodeled (esp their furniture), but staff is always very kind and helpful. Also the Carson store has 25% off for the senior crowd every Thursday! Yay!
Clean friendly and good prices.
Lots of stuff - huge racks of clothes, a small room lined with bookshelves, another room of furniture, small kitchen appliances, kitchen gadgets, bricabrac, craft materials...a little of everything. Good prices too. It's always fun to visit, and frequently I find something I was looking for - or something I didn't know I was looking for.
Great people, most volunteer. Opportunity to give, pay it forward.
Bit over priced for needy, smells like old shoes
This organization should be ashamed of themselves. You report to the IRS that your organization's mission is "assistance to people in need, runs thrift stores which provide low cost or free items to low to moderate income people". If this is so then why are the prices on these donated items you receive for free so expensive. I watched a family with two small children in your store walking around with an employee or volunteer showing them furniture that was beat up and clearly used and nothing was less than $100 for each item. To charge $500 for a mismatched bedroom suite is not providing assistance to people in need at low cost to low income people. You all need to check yourselves and get with God on your prices because this is ridiculous and you are not serving your community well.
Always an adventure.
It's a very crowded store but i always find what I'm looking for
Prices on clothes are more than reasonable but other items not such a good buy.
We found an awesome Military Winter Parka With Fur Hood for only $5! Several other items there now are in our living room as well. Great staff and prices!
Prices are too high for a thrift store.
The prices, the people and the ministry for this store all make this location a five star.
Quite disappointed! Fairly decent selection, but everything is outrageously expensive! Used items priced like new ones. Example - used Mainstays (walmart brand) counter top cooker priced higher than NEW one at store! This is not a "thrift store" !
Very disappointed with the changes the THRIFT store has made. I loved going because I always found great affordable items. I stopped by today looking for home decor items to refinish but was shocked by the increase in prices. I hate going to Goodwill because of their prices on the "donated" items they receive, especially their clothing. Now it appears The Fish is following in Goodwill's footsteps. This is unfortunate and I hope management will realize this was a mistake and go back to their affordable pricing that all families can afford.
This place is very hateful towards people in need. They say that they are hand up not a hand out and they have the right to refuse service to anybody that they choose even if you are not willing to submit yourself to your humiliating classes. I am a single mother of five children and they refused to help us because I refuse to go to drug and alcohol classes when I've never taken drugs and I don't drink alcohol. They told me many of times that I have chosen the world of poverty and this lifestyle they're nothing but bigots
Very nice people!
Fish has great bargains and all kinds of unique finds. Fish is a non-profit that provides all kind of services for the needy!!
Good items at good prices
Good stuff but I think the prices were too high but they do have senior day on Thursdays 25% off
Love what they do for the community!
Prices outrageous for a thrift store! There was boxes from the post office for sale in there and you can get them free at the post office! I won't be going back there
Prices to high
I'm pleased to volunteer at FISH where 99% of proceeds are used to provide great programs that serve the community. The staff works tirelessly sorting & providing clean vintage and everyday items. There are real treasures to be found!
Great place to find clothing, furniture, household items for "upcycling." Love this store! Upcycled vest from thrift store items.
The money goes to the right place and help the people in need! Thanks to them you don't see homeless people in Carson city, they just help them all! Amazing place, even if it is a bit more expensive. For sure donate your goods here and not to the goodwill!
Amazing place with such kind lovely people! Me and my family are currently in transition from moving here from out of state. We came in today and they helped us with food and a listing of affordable apartments in our area! Blessed be fish.
Too much clutter not organized
Awesome place! Really good prices, good brands, and quality items. Some designer options and great workout brands. We love thrifting in Nevada, it’s not all raked through like the bigger cities. Manager was super sweet and helpful!
Does fish still have the free dinners for the less fortunate? Aka poor people?
This thrift store rocks! All the clothing is well organized and sectioned by sizes. Also, everything was marked 50% off in the store today, so I got some great stuff for $5 (included a beautiful Anne Klein winter coat that looked brand new, as well as two Gymboree long sleeve shirts for my 2 year old!)
One of the best Fish Stores I've ever been too! They always have great used items. From clothes all the way up to Furniture. And everything in between!
Great visit there
It is great shopping ther
My favorite thrift store! Always has the best finds and great prices :) great staff in there too! Always so welcoming and friendly!
By far, my favorite thrift store. Great items, great prices, friendly staff and (most important to me) the sales benefit our community rather than paying a corporate CEO. Love it!
Its a decent thrift store. Ive found a lot of cool things here. Sometimes you have to haggle the price down on certain things but overall, decent prices.
Used to like buying there but since they have a young girl with such a bad attitude, i will no buy there ever again and i will take my donations to another thrift store.
Uncaring Staff that willfully establish Policies designed to shame ppl. I or any HUMAN should never be scolded being Hungry... I don’t accept under any circumstance that an adult reaching out for assistance should ever be told how to ask for that help... The bottom line is they did not like me from the moment I walked into the facility... Which only allowed for a very unpleasant, negative, and hateful treatment from the pathetically morally MISGUIDED institution... May God forgive THEM for doing his work with such hateful policies, people. I am not perfect but I nor any human should be treated the way these Hypocrites conduct themselves, under the GUIES of compassion.
Excellent quality and professional assistance.
Beautiful and unusual finds 5 star management and staff.
This is a very well run thrift store helping many people as well. I always enjoy it.
Dirty and crowded. It is a good cause org. though.
Okay
Nice little store...prices are a little high on alotof things
I love the furniture at FISH. People offered to help me load it, but I declined. I had some trouble fitting the table into the car until a fellow patron told me about the wing nuts on the legs. I thanked him profusely and told him to have a great day. He said we were meant to help each other out in this world.
I come from gardnerville and my grandma used to volunteer here. This used to be a great thrift shop now not so much I bought a shirt and purse and a picture the shirt has a hole in it which I couldn't see before and payed too much for it. The picture had stickers on the corners I dint think anything of until I peeled them off when I got home and the corners glass on both sides is broken and i paid way too much. The purse was the only intact thing I purchased and turns out it was 30 dollars! For a second hand purse. I paid it because I felt embarrassed but I wont be going back to that store ever again. So disappointed.
Overpriced everything! I get most of the money is for a good cause and goes to their programs to help the needy, but charging new prices on used stuff is ridiculous. When you can buy something at Wal-Mart brand new for less or comparable to what they are charging there is a problem... greed!!!
Didn't have enough money to buy a newborn car seat! Cashier had seen that I really needed it and paid for it for me! :)
High quality products in a charming store. A fun place to shop.
Nice place, with all the donations they get however prices are too high for a thrift store. All they are doing is pocketing the money themselves I'm sure. I asked about a super small VCR TV that was posted for $30 and asked if I could get it for $10. "NO" was the answer, "those go like hot cakes for parents who want it for their kids"..really a VCR? I just wanted one for the kitchen as I cooked. Not even a come back at $20. Then they sell over price an item to my friend that I was introducing their store too, that should could buy the exact same item brand new for less elsewhere?! And the same lady, dark black short haired pretended to look online for the item and said it sold for $50. NOT!! Liars! WOW.Don't donate, don't go there. Being a store manager this is the 2nd time she has been rude to me. Never again.
Since everyhing was 1/2 off today, the prices were more than reasonable on the used goods for sale.
Great deals & great staff!!
Horrid. I was looking for items I could use in a project my partner and I are working on. When I came in, I asked if there were any specials or sales today, and the clerk snapped at me, saying "no! We DON'T do that here!" I looked about for a bit, found some parts and called my partner to ask should I go ahead and pay $3 per piece here or because we only want some of the parts should I go to the dollar store. The same clerk interrupts me and as a rudely, "why DON'T you just go there?" I was standing there with my wallet out looking quite stunned. A man next to me was holding a power saw marked $25, and he said ," I guess I shouldn't ask if you can cut me a deal." The clerk says, "sure, I can drop the price to $18". (This is less than 2 minutes after yelling at me they don't do discounts.) Not wanting to cause a scene, I paid for my items and left...AND WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.
Awesome prices...good quality stuff
Great place, and friendly people organized
they have no used fish for me to eat. this is offensive because i am homeless and like seafood
Decent thrift store
First of al I worked in one of the local thrift stores and so i know how they should be ran and how they should look/appear. I live in the area & shop here quite a bit. There are a few employees/volunteers that are nice, most are not. They tend to rearrange the store alot. There is alot of junk/trash in with the items. Some things are priced well, others are overpriced. It seems that they have gone up in their pricing in the last few yrs. I have found some good bargins at times though. I would suggest that if you are looking for a certain item that you check the other local thrift stores as well to make sure you are getting what you pay for.
Decent selection, but has gottena bit pricy.
FISH reslly helped me out today, Im homeless n they gave me a nice sleeping bag, warm jacket n some food!!! That sleeping bag is huge due to the weather.... Thanks FISH!!!
A very good place to go for food when you run out. Once a month ,but , when needed it's a great help.
That place is not very clean. Some stuff are not worth to sell or cost too much. The cashier wasn't friendly today. :|
Their prices have gone up tremendously but the store is nice and organized
Very clean and organized.
This place is awesome and endless, and you can find a lot of great bargains. On top of all that I saw Max Baer Jr. who played Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies in there. No kidding. The real guy. Man, wish I would have gotten a selfie or autograph. Guess he visits there every once in a while. What a cool thing, made my week!!!!
How sad that the people who need thrift stores could not afford to shop here. Their prices are higher than what you would pay in a regular store! People donate to this place and they are thieves. I will make sure all of the stuff I donate goes to the Salvation Army. And the staff is rude to boot! Don't waste your time!!
There's always something different when you come to the Fish Store. It's getting to be better organized recently. They also accept credit/debit cards.
Tired of being dumped on by the upper echelon...
Great deals
Love this place and the people, very helpful and caring...
Wonderful place, good prices, great staff.
Amazing thing they do for the people.
It's ok. Kind of expensive. Where are the items that are supposed to define the word thrift? Very nice and down to earth cashier.
Great deals on clothes and books compared to other thrift stores
I love this store! I have shopped here since it opened. The employees are all super friendly and helpful! They have the highest quality merchandise at great prices. They are often willing to come down on prices depending on how long merchandise has been out. I am 82 and on a fixed income and I buy my 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren all their birthday and Christmas presents at FISH. I feel good that all the money I spend goes to support the needy people in my community!
Awesome customer service! Great people! Great deals
Place used to be great. Now prices are 3-4x higher on non-clothing . Won't be going back.
Was homeless in the morning have. A place to stay tonight great experience for sure God bless them
Great place. I find all kinds of crazy bargains here. Today was $3 Tom's and $3 Chucks. The people who work here are very kind and do a ton for the community. If you are going to thrift in Carson City start here. Give back your neighbor and support a worth while cause. Also get some rad stuff!!
Cute place with lots of great finds!! If you are lucky enough to have Amber as your customer service member then your experience will be more than satisfactory!!
Love it
Great Prices and Staff!
They sell donated items to help those in need. Fun place to browse. You never know what you might find!
Items in the store are double what the price should be..I wont go back..
very nice people, treats everyone with dignity
One of my top 10 favourite thrift stores in 3 states!
Very clean thrift store,. Nice pople
Lots of good stuff
Love shopping and donating to FISH Thrift Store. Supporting those in our community by shopping great bargains is NOT hard to do. Also, having a place to donate our goods knowing the money will be put to good use serving those in Walton county for the cause of Christ is well-worth it. The staff are always helpful and the finds are amazing. :)
Prices have gone up EXTREMELY to high for a consignment store.
They gave my wife the runaround for months over a sewing machine she bought there. We had to go to the Monroe store and speak to the big boss to get the issue resolved.
It's a "Thrift Store", medium prices for, Used Items?? On the other hand, they've got some helpful services. Shortcomings: Diner, advertises a, "HOT",
A nice way to make a donation without worrying that the funds or items will leave the area.
This group helps people get on their feet. Lots of resources and great volunteers who want to help.
I enjoy their thrift store. I have found some decently priced items.
Female director was awful. She identified me as transient & she claimed because I didnt live in Carson city , I couldn't get help with prescription glasses. She didnt know my situation & I've bever been here before. Only help I got was with laundry , I had to pay for . I Wont be going back after the way an abnoxious woman treated me , who works there , I actually had to tell her to stop talking / harassing me . I never filled out paperwork because whats the point ? So they can come up with a rude reason not to help me & waste my time again ??
Awesome prices and friendly people! They do so much to help others in our community!
Awesome finds and deals
FiSH store in Minden is the only place that I shop in the area. I can always find something be it cothing or decor for the house . The prices are reasonable and the staff isvery helpful and friendly. If you haven't discovered this treasure in the valley yet, you're in for a treat.
What a crock! These people are thieves! Outrageous prices! Can drive a half mile to Walmart and get new items for close to the same price. I seriously doubt that those donating realize what they are selling their gifts for. I urge all to donate to other stores.
Helped us when we needed and very kind.
Love it
Theives. I think most people do get a thrill of finding a good price on a purchase, or refinding a replacement for a lost family treasure from years past, or simply shopping for some Cds & DVDs. This place will lure you back, time and time again, with these things and more. Only a few purchases of my thousands of dollars spent with them have managed to stay in possession. Police, non-effective. You are warned, stay clear from this Monroe nightmare.
I like the thrift store, I think its a little pricey but Im pretty sure most if not all profit goes to the whole fish program to help people out. With that being said, if you do need help next door at the food bank its gotten out of hand. Im actually surprised I haven't had to tattoo my forehead with 666 to get some help with food. I understand its a hand up and not a hand out but when your so desperate for a little food for your family that you have to go there then the staff shouldn't embarrass you and put you down for your situation.
I went in there and they tried to sell me used condums.
I shop there lots and love their store !! Always clean and well organized and friendly!! I highly recommend visiting fish !!
New to the area went in with a friend who has lived down in Gv for years, the clerk with the short blonde hair was amazing, super sweet and helpful, her coworker with black stringy hair not so much, she was plain rude, tried to charge me double price for an item i believed she wanted to buy herself, then she was rude to my friend. Very small town, cute shop, i believe this rude lady was the owner or the manager, sadly ill never shop there again.
I have shopped there several times. I buy things for my classroom or for my children. These people are plain rude and nasty. If I am looking for something I will go anywhere else before there. They are overpriced and the manager should just be fired. I would love to know who her boss is he needs to see how she treats people . Beware, shop elsewhere .
Friendly staff and cheap prices. About equal to a Goodwill store.
Nothing very good here. Clothes are a definite low. And the decent stuff is over priced.
Awesome Folks....Very Friendly and lots of Cool Stuff !!!
Love it. None profit no tax and they feed the Hungary. What a way to spend your money.
Horrible store!!! BEWARE Don't visit here unless you want to get ripped off! They are very rude, and inconsiderate. All the staff act like they are better than everyone else. They are the most expensive thrift store in Northern Nevada! Don't go here!!!
Doing a great service for Nevada.
FISH is the best thrift store hands down Carson City MoundHouse Minden go there! !
Little over priced
I understand people have bad days but when you are representing a Christian business you should always be polite and humble the disrespect and rudeness was definitely something I could not believe for a simple inquire on help with furniture, driving people away is not something of God I know no one is perfect, yet this was no way of treating someone, also was placed on hold to complain to someone about the inquire SMH
Always help
Well organized, clean, friendly staff.
Thank you! I had a student in my office in violation of dress code for school and you were kind and generous to help me correct the problem :)
Friendly employees, good selection, fair prices, clean, very cool rustic vintage Nevada themed decor going on. Be sure to check out the historic Carson City pictures decorating the walls.
Not a thrift shop person, but I love Fish! Everyone is so nice, and the shop is clean with good brands and plenty of vintage and varied items.
Good place to find cheap clothes, furniture and kitchen stuff and more. Great thrift store.
I love the Moundhouse store but I especially love the manager, Katy. She was so nice and caring. What a pleasure it is to meet people like that in our own community! I hope her boss knows what a gem she is. Thank you Katy!
They have a lot of cool stuff, a little expensive for a thrift store.
The Fish Thrift Store on 395 employees were very rude regarding our donations. We donated several items that were brand new in boxes or with tags, these items were bought at stores like Macy's. We heard gasps at the large amount of donations, not a thank you! We were told by one employee to place the items in a certain location and criticized by another for placing the items there. We were told that they already had lots of donations and were disgusted that we would even think about making a donation to their store. I do not donate broken or destroyed items, I do not think the thrift store is my dumping ground for broken or destroyed items... and neither I nor my children need to ever be treated in such a poor way by these employees!! The great thing about other thrift stores is we get a,"Wow" thank you for such a donation! As such, thank you FISH as we will never consider donating or shopping at your store and I hope the community realizes how poorly you treat individuals before they purchase anything else from you!!!
Most staff are helpful and kind individuals who take pride in giving people an opportunity to become self sufficient. Beth, one of the directors, is sadly a negative person who discriminates, falsely accuses others, and treats people with disrespect. This makes it very difficult sometimes for those who are truly trying to improve their situation to get help.
It's biblical.
Front desk is not so friendly to homeless.kinda felt like I was a burden asking a question. Felt uncomfortable doing laundry there too, like I was putting her out.Didn't care for the attitude. Not once but on a few occasions, same lady at front desk.
Its hard to maneuver around the store. The clothes are not very organized and the jewelry is a mess... But its cheap and has a lot of random stuff.
I volunteer the staff at the office is nice helpful & caring the food bank, the cafe & the thrift store all great.
Newly remodeled
Great service and friendly
Well organized. Decent prices. For a worthy cause that is local.
Great place for used furniture and other house necessities. Prices are always really good.
Some things like books and shoes are not priced, and they just arbitrarily give you a price when you get to the register. Kind of irritating. I prefer to know upfront how much something is.
Helpful cashiers
Friendly, cheerful service. Great selection of high quality clothes, furniture and household items. Professional displays. Can't wait to return to shop!
They call this a THRIFT store?? The prices are SKY HIGH & they raise the already marked prices at their whim!!! Horrible business practices....they need to get rid of this crew they are just plain rude and mean....many folks I've talked with will NEVER go back. Try $4.00 for an old, used & worn out towel. This place is a JOKE!!!.
Love this place!
Found some high-end treasures here. This is better than most thrift stores. Quality goods.
Great place to find treasurers!
Their prices are always too high but according to what I have heard the money charged is also to help those in need......I still go but am careful about what I buy......
Love this place!
Always find a great item at FISH. They are a wonderful charity.
Buena segunda pero la gente ,Dona las cosas y dan muy caro ,bueno diría que demasiado caro por cosas que la comunidad regala
Clean & organized thrift store. Found the book department quite large & well organized. We felt that "most" of the merchandise here was well priced.
Very good place to get help with food and other things and services. Wonderful people!
Just wish the merchandise was as cheap as the staff!jk . Butt seriously ,NV u ugly!!peace
These people volunteer. This isn't a department store that the employees are supposed to assist you. I've always found them to be very nice. Of course I have found when you treat people nicely they usually are nice back to you.
Over the past 3 years fish has continually marked the prices of all free donated items. When you go to a thrift shop and a glass dish has $2.50 marked and another almost identical dish maybe a little smaller in size marked $4.00.
Had just what I needed and for a great price
Excellent bargains friendly staff
This is such a cute store! Staff was so helpful in finding what I was looking for! They are non profit so everything purchased goes back into our community! Great store! I'll definitely be going back soon!
(Translated by Google) Excellent assortment and good treatment (Original) Excelente surtido y buen trato
A good selection of genly used clothes, furniture and household items at great prices. The mony goes to support a wide variety of ministry efforts in Walton County.
Great products but yes it is a little over priced and that's something they need to work on but it's only because they go off of eBay and amazon and such websites but this is free stuff that's given to fish to help out the needy and not even poor people can afford to shop here but the staff is really nice except the manager she seems to have something against me
A great organization. A hand up not a hand out..
Best place for food bank services and thrift store.
Prices are way too high for what it is it's a thrift store not a boutique
Terrible customer service by a woman working the drop off area in back on 3/13/19 at 12:30.. I went there to drop off a few boxes of gently used clothes but was met with the worst attitude I've experienced at a donation center. It was like I was inconveniencing her by donating. First I was told they would accept clothes and after I put some in a basket, and was bringing another box, she asked (in a weird snotty way) how many boxes I had. Her tone.attitude really irritated me so I just said forget it, turned around and put the 2nd box back in my truck and left. I then went to Goodwill where they happily accepted my donations.
