Went here for the first time a few days ago and had a pleasant experience. I called first to ask a few questions before I made the 30 minute drive and was amazed by their selection. Once I got there the guy that helped me on the phone also helped me in the store and was great at answering all my questions about the fish and what I could and couldn't mix. I did lose one of the 6 fish I bought but that sometimes happens. The other 5 seem to be thriving and I will be back next week for the rest of the fish I need to purchase. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot. Great selection and service. Thank you!

The charge a fair price for there merchandise. The owner even set up a tank for me and hopefully in the future he will set up another one. This place is so cool! Their prices are extremely affordable and ALWAYS have really cool fish. I wish they had more bettas BUT I may have just come in at a slower betta time. They had a tank there that has a cool huge plecco in it. It was SO huge. Anyway, cool place to bring your kids, amazing place to buy fish from. Their tanks didnt seem to have any issues, fish looked happy and healthy. While there were minor over crowding, it's a pet store and those tanks are not their forever homes, I dont mind that at all. Love this place!

We love coming in to this store so much, that we’ve been known to come multiple times a week EVERY week! The store is often busy, but we’d never complain because we use the time to browse the many tanks, and meet/chat with other people who are into the hobby. Staff is wonderful, genuinely interested in their business and easy going. They also have a bit of quirk, which is great because we are quirky too! The owner is almost always on site, and very knowledgeable about all types of aquariums. He’d never sell a person anything just to make a sale, because he cares about the animals in the store, and wants to make sure you will too. The less than five star reviews (what little there are) seem to mostly come with no comment or for very nitpicky reasons. This place is great, and is a massive step up from chain retail. If you want something special, need assistance, or don't like something, just let them know! They'll do everything in their power to get you what you need when they can, and in a timely fashion. You may end up waiting a few minutes for assistance, but with so many different fish, and decorations, might as well browse and relax. Now I'm not saying the FA&S staff are perfect, because nobody is. Sometimes people have a bad day, or it's super jammed with customers, but if you can remember that we all love the same thing, and want to corroborate together to create masterwork tanks, you'll realize that you're in the right place. I was so frustrated with my saltwater situation. Zamzows staff is just so ignorant about saltwater fish...they kept telling that my water in my tank was good and there was no problems. I didn't really know any better until I lost my Clownfish ($25) and 4 stripe damsel in 1 night...I could see that my other clown was having a hard time to so I finally decided to go here...one thing is they can be a bit busy so you might have to wait your turn, but once it is your turn...it is all about you and your setup...they will ask all the questions...I felt like I was at a doctors office with my fish. They quickly explained my situation and now I have the right setup for my aquarium and I didn't loose my other clown and other fish...one thing that did surprise me was they did sell me a live rock with growing glass anemone on it (a huge pest) but some Joe's Juice and now the problem is fixed. My fish are happy and I am happy. Oh and Google Maps shows the wrong address it's actually now on Fairview between Liberty and Curtis.

Basically the fish were handled roughly and appeared to be in bad shape when I got them home (2 new corydoras sterbai, going into a 10 gal with 1 betta and 2 other sterbai). Both appeared to have cuts near their tail fins, and both ended up dying of unknown causes after a few weeks. Other than that, a fantastic store. They even keep their bettas in large vases with clean water, as opposed to those nasty little cups you see in Walmart or Petco/Petsmart. Overall the fish are usually healthy (my 3 living fish seem perfectly vigorous and are growing well).

Cant say enough good about this store. Bought a brand new tank for about $70 less than what is advertised online as a gift. Afterwards, have returned several times to get more fish. The best part is that they're not out just to make a sale, they generally care about the fish and you having success in getting a tank set up. Case in point: I hadn't done any kind of water prep for our tank prior to getting some fish. The gentleman who was helping us advised (after some chatting) it wasn't a good idea to get the amount of fish we wanted to since the tank wasn't yet set up and a bio load established. He gave us some product to jump start the bio load and sent us off on our way with 4 tiny neon tetras, since they would not tax the tank too hard and if something did happen (like they died), they were inexpensive. Well. the first 4 didn't die so i went back for more and I'll continue to go back again and again.
