My fiance and I have been to Chuck's twice now. I love what they do with their fresh fish and she loves the chicken dishes. The sushi chef was overwhelmed both times but other than that, the service was excellent.

This was a first time visit with my friend, Doris, to celebrate my birthday. We dined outside on the patio. The service was okay. I had the seafood platter which was pretty good. She had the blackened amberjack special. My cocktail was nice, I don't recall the name but it contained vodka, muddled strawberries, lemon and simple syrup. The lemon drop cocktail Doris had was pretty small. The highlight was the bread pudding dessert. All in all It was a decent outing but nothing to "write home " about. (FYI my ankles itched like crazy from the pesky outdoor gnats)

I went with friends for sunday brunch. It was amazing. Great bloody Mary and bellini's. The crab cake Benedict, shrimp and grits and huevos rancheros were all really good! Great atmosphere. The live music was perfect and set the mood for a great brunch and chill day!

Not that this will make any difference, but, the place was a little loud, the chairs were not comfortable, the service was not bad, and the food was good, however, for the money you would expect to get enough food to hold you until you get to your car. I was really disappointed in my experience being the first time to go there, and I am sure it will be the only time too. Ken

Always a favorite! I had my first date with my fiance at Chuck's back in May....Fast Forward 8 Months Later, much to my surprise he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him last week. To commemorate the occasion, we celebrated at the place where we had our first date... Chuck's! The atmosphere couldn't of been more beautifu, like a winter wonderland. As always perfect service, the staff joined us in celebrating our engagement with helping us take pictures! You can't ask for better Sushi or Seafood in the Bham/Metro Area. Definitely will be going back.... I can see this being our anniversary spot for years to come.

I sat at the bar as it was only myself and I didn't want to take a table. The bartends were great and very helpful. The caesar salad was fresh and crisp. I ordered the fresh catch from Destin with lemon caper sauce... the sauce was SO salty it was hardly edible. I wasn't asked how it was, or I would have said something. However, the table behind me was THE MOST OBNOXIOUS group of LOUD people I have ever experienced which ruined the entire evening. I travel extensively the past 15 years with work; the group at the table next to me was the worst I have EVER experienced. I went over and said, "You guys are really loud" in a diplomatic way, but it solved nothing. When I return to the area, which is often, I will definitely not go back to Chuck's as the food was less than mediocre and the 'noise control' if rooms, buffers were may have been used was nonexistent.

Went here for my anniversary and I have to say this his my favorite meal I’ve had in Birmingham. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We split a cup of gumbo which was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of gumbo. I ordered the chicken dish which was superb and my wife got the seafood platter. Everything was top notch. Highly recommend!

Ate here for the first time on 02/13/16. Service was good, the hostesses could have been much more friendly. My boyfriend and i was waited on by Beth. The service she provided was amazing and the food was superb. I would definitely suggest this place to friends and also return to dine again.

My friend and i got out for $50 each, we had one sushi each, an entree and desert...The service was was on the low side of OK. I couldn't tell how many tables my waitress had. the noise in the place is pretty bad. i did not feel uncomfortable but this place is defiantly not in my comfort zone, it was a bit uppity. the taste and quality of the food was GREAT. the quantity of food was not. I will save this restaurant for special occasions not a weekly place. if you like wine they seemed to have plenty of it.

We love Chucks. The waitstaff can be sketchy at times but the food is always fresh and cooked to order. They should just have the chef serve you, they always know what they are doing.

Really underwhelmed. Used to love this restaurant, but our last 2 visits have been less than thrilling. We waited 45 minutes for our entrees that arrived tepid and the haricots vert were overcooked to mush. Scallops were juicy and I can eat them cold if necessary so not a total wash. Salad wedge was crisp with enough blue cheese dressing, so 3 stars but a year ago, they were in the 5 catagory.

My experiences here have been really good although I've heard mixed reviews from friends. Noticed that the bar is usually only staffed by a single bartender which didn't make much sense for such a busy place. The sushi is good and menu offerings I've had were nicely done.

SAVE YOUR MONEY. We (4 people)went for brunch today and were seated right away. Was not crowded. We ordered mimosas and a bellini. Mimosas had fresh squeezed oranges and were good. We ordered beignets and there were only three; not enough for each of us to have one. They looked good but when we cut into them, the center was doughy and under cooked. We placed an order for three shrimp and grits, and a burger. The burger was good but we received an appetizer portion of shrimp and a spoonful of grits. The shrimp were completely over salted. The grits were stiff but ok. Three of us were still hungry when we left but now I know why no one was there. Overpriced.

Chuck's has the best sushi in the Birmingham, Gadsden, Oxford triangle of all the places I have visited. The only other place that is on par with Chuck's is a little hole-in-wall spot in Roswell, Ga (Atlanta) that a little Asian man owns/runs called Tanaka Japanese Restaurant.

Being from Dallas we have a ton of great restaurants but this place ranks up there with any of the top restaurants in all of Dallas. The food here is always absolutely fantastic! Probably the best restaurant in Tuscaloosa. It is pretty nice, and the service was great. The sushi is great, and I know lots of people will go there just for that. They are kind of pricey, but the food is great. I noticed someone said over-rated. That could be true as well. It is probably the best place in Tuscaloosa, but other than that, I am not sure how it would fair compared to other cities' nice seafood restaurants. You will often see some important people there. Especially around game day or other football related events. I know my friend saw John Elway there when he was in town. All in all, you should definitely check it out if you are in Tuscaloosa. It's kind of the same idea as Dreamland BBQ for Tuscaloosa. Like if you are there, you need to experience it.

The bread pudding was excellent, but that's all I really remember about the meal. My guests thought the ceaser salad was basically a bowl of lettuce with good croutons. The lighting was very dark and the room was very loud. Plus they had TVs playing. When I take my guests out for a fine dinner, I don't want them distracted by what's flashing on the TV.

Great place. Great atmosphere. Staff was super nice, and menu delicious. The prices are a little on the high end, but well worth. Grouper was the fish of the day and was very moist. Dishes were very well balanced and quantity was great. Had the tuna salad as appetizer, and that one was ok... about 7 of 10. For those with sweet tooth, white chocolate bread pudding, and the creambrulle were amazing. Place is well worth visiting. We would be coming back again the next time we are in town.

The food was delicious! My wife had the Beef Fillet and opted to add on the two stuffed shrimp. I had the Seafood Platter which had two stuffed shrimp, one crab cake and a blackened 4 oz. serving of the catch of the day (swordfish that day). Everything was cooked to perfection and succulent. We then shared the White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert.... without a doubt, the best bread pudding I have ever had. It was a nice evening when we went, so we opted to sit outdoors. Our server was very attentive and he checked on us numerous times throughout the meal.... couldn't have asked for any better service.
