Choose this school! I would give it 7 stars if I could. As a complete beginner, I took the 5-hour pre-licensing course, and came back to do the 15-hour lesson and road test package. Although I didn’t pass my road test in one try, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back for all my future driving needs. Mel (the office manager), who somehow managed to remember my name weeks later after meeting me once, and all the other staff here were not only highly organized, but also went above and beyond to care for their students. My instructor Joel was clear, patient, and challenged me just enough to push my driving to the next level. He was generous with his time and always found ways to optimize my lesson location so that I could practice more. Because I was moving overseas in two months when I started the lessons, I had a very short timeline for learning to drive. After not passing my first road test only two days before my departure, Mel not only worked overtime to schedule another road test for me before my flight, but also coordinated with other staff to pick me up and drive me to the airport afterwards. With ProDrive Americas, my whole learning and road test experience was teamwork. I feel like they will always have my back the entire time. It truly deserves this 5-star review — the last thing I did in the US before my flight takes off to China — even though it already has hundreds of glowing reviews. Thank you again, Mel, Joel, Manny and other staff at the school! I cannot recommend you more.

Professional Driving School is absolutely incredible. That Manny could teach my daughter to drive well enough to pass her road test on her first try is close to a miracle given how badly she drove at the beginning and how adverse she was to even learning how to drive (I made her do it though because I didn't want her to end up like me -- taking lessons as an adult when it is even harder to learn.) From everything my daughter said, Manny was patient, calm and encouraging and knew really how to teach her. And those who work in the office are helpful, friendly and accommodating too. I would recommend them to any one. (Note, I too took driving lessons with them almost nine years ago and had an equally great experience. Not sure how they pick and train their driving teachers, but whatever they are doing works.)

This Driving school is good. They are pretty strict if you are sick on the day of a lesson. The 5 hour classroom lesson on driving is quite an experience in torture, but I didn't expect much. The school is great at reminding you of important dates, very responsive and kind. Joel is a great driving instructor. He accommodated my schedule and was very professional. We focused on my weak points and he had some good advice for passing the test. He wasn't my favorite or calmest instructor but he taught me a lot about driving in NYC. I passed thanks to Joel, first try.

A few things to highlight: - The team at the office is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. - The instructor picks you up so you don't have to go to the school. I was able to take all my lessons over lunch during work hours which was a game changer. - I got a 10hr package with Chris, and he was the perfect instructor for me. I recently learned how to drive a stick using this driving school and this was the best route to take. My instructor was Gerry and he was very helpful, friendly, and the most important quality- patient. You NEED somebody with a lot of patience to teach you how to drive a manual. I took two lessons and I got it down enough to take a road trip from NY to FL a few days later. So this service was definitely worth it and it's also reasonably priced. I definitely recommend this driving school to those who want to learn how to drive at all!

Also the second time I practiced, the day before my first one, I had already gotten used to it and got less and less nervous each time I got behind the wheel. They rescheduled every class I took there. There’s always something came up and they want you to take it earlier or later which is not very professional. When I tried to reschedule the last class, I actually texted them one day before. Then the next day the guy teaching told me he didn’t get my text and it was too late to reschedule it and they have to charge that lesson. The car is too old also like it’s falling apart. It’s shaking every time you start the engine. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

I am an older driver who qualified to drive in multiple foreign jurisidictions and have an expired DC license from some time ago that I didn’t renew after relocating outside the US. Worked with Kristofer at the front desk and Joel was my instructor, while Lu gave the pre-licensing course. Very professional, courtious, and accommodating team! From my first interaction, Kristofer was very clear about the process of getting a license for a foreigner. He answered all my questions, arranged for my pre-licensing course as well as my driver test practice and exam. The pricing was very conpetitive for Manhattan! Lu made the 5-hour pre-licensing course enjoyable despite the dense (and repetitive) material! 5-hours on the dot for the course (they do it right and don’t believe in shortcuts so they are very professional about abiding by the rules and I really respected that). As for the driving test itself, Kristofer found me a spot within a couple of weeks, which is quick for NYC. He sent me a confirmation and called a couple of days before the test to make sure everything is good to go and my documents where in order. Joel contacted me early in the morning the day of the test to arrange a pick-up. He was running slightly late (had another student exam) and kept me aware of it throughout the day event though he showed up some 8min late for the pick-up! In short, super professional! We practiced the key skills for 2 hours and I was ready to go! Based on Joel’s tips and guidance I passed on the first try! Overall a great experience and highly recommended team to deal with!

I have been driving for years outside of the US, but after having moved here recently needed to get my NY license as they wouldn't recognize my foreign one here. A friend recommended Pro Driving School to me. They were very good at getting me a prompt appointment for the test. I just took the 1.5 hour lesson before the test itself to make sure I was fully familiar with what the local testers are looking for. My instructor, Luz, was prompt and on time, she was friendly and professional and was good at pointing out any little things that could cause a problem in the test itself. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and I would recommend both her and Pro Driving School to anyone else looking to take their test. Happy to say that with her help I passed the first time.

Learning to drive in NYC can be a stressful experience but Joel was always calm, patient, and reassuring. Joel didn't just teach me how to pass the test he taught me how to be an aware, defensive driver. My favorite thing about Joel is his passion for his job. It's immediately obvious how much he loves driving and teaching and I felt like he was genuinely invested in my passing the road test. I can't recommend him and the school highly enough.

I enrolled my son in a full course of lessons and a Sat. course. The teacher constantly changed the meeting place and time for lessons. He catcalled women on the street, exhibited shocking road rage and finally began canceling the driving lesson- often 1.2 hour before they were going to meet. When we complained to the school they randomly assigned a different teacher for each subsequent lesson. Each teacher gave my son different driving advice. On the day of the test. They got the test location wrong, and had a frantic ride from one town to anther to get to the appointment on time. Had a really terrible experience with this school and would never recommend it to anyone.

Amazing school with very patient and caring instructors I had the pleasure of learning from Joel for the majority of my lessons and he definitely made me feel relaxed and capable for my road test. He's an outstanding instructor but usually booked up so you're fortunate if you can catch him and I also had manny who's another amazing instructor who took me to my road test and walked me through the course and focused on all my strengths and weaknesses before the test so I could be more relaxed when actually taking it. Overall great school with excellent staff and I highly reccomend them!

At age 35 with an expiring permit that I've renewed once before I told myself it was finally time to go ahead and get my license. At first I was going to forego lessons and take the test on my own. Needing a 5 hour course I went to Professional Driving School of the Americas only because it was closest to my office. I'm extremely grateful for my luck with choosing this school. The 5 Hour course was well taught. Making me comfortable with the service and quality of instruction Peary convinced me to take classes being that it's been so long since last I drove. Which turned out to be another great decision. Joel my driving instructor was awesome (patient and very informative) For all your instructional needs I would suggests this school.

I took the driving lessons with Joel from Professional Driving School and I passed the road test. Joel is very professional, patient, really great at giving instructions, directions and explains everything so you have a better understanding of controlling the vehicle. When it came to parking, he lets you try parking on your own so he could see how you handle it then gives you guidance on what you did wrong and how to correct it. I would recommend Joel to anyone who is trying to get their driver's license.

Hello Everyone!!! I went to the school of Americas after reading all the positive reviews, however it happened to be that I was just losing my time!!People that are working there are not knowledgeable and they talk before they think!! Information that are important they do not know and what is always the worst thing they assume it!! I will not write my whole story and whole experience that I had there! I just want to tell everyone to double check information that you get there before you lose your time! Train and educate your staff!! Explain them that they should be listening to their potential clients and not interrupting them!! Empower them and teach them to never assume and to anticipate their client needs!! When you go there you will realize what I am talking about!! Good Luck!!

I am your typical native New Yorker who barely gets behind the wheel so I took a 6 pack of refresher classes. My instructor was Manny - amazing teacher. He is really patient but also great at correcting anything your not doing right. He allows you to feel like your in control. I definitely recommend him- not to mention he is totally chill!! I still need a few more refreshers and I'm definitely taking those with Manny!!

Everyone is so kind there, even via the phone everyone is very nice (which is uncommon as New Yorkers are generally rude over the phone). Strongly recommended! I recently took a package including 7 driving lessons plus the driving test (only 7 because I already have a little bit of experience). Mel was super helpful with the scheduling. Gerry, the instructor, is probably the best driving instructor I ever had: very informative, very careful and polite. I'm a bit tall and I feel uncomfortable in small cars, but the school was able to find a larger car, which was great! Thank you!

He made sure to talk me through and help me practice every detail that could come up on the test- even the things that rarely occur. He gave me the confidence to pass my test the very next day! Learning how to drive has been a serious challenge for me as a native New Yorker, but Professional Driving School of the Americas assured me they’d be by my side every step of the way. I had no driving experience before and I know passing the road test in Manhattan is really difficult. I took my friend's advice and contacted Professional Driving School. I like the fact that they will pick you up from your location. This is perfect for people like me who is only available during a short lunch break. Peary was the one that I talked to. She is very friendly and explains the details of every package clearly to me. She sent me emails with all my class schedules and picked up locations listed out. Every time if there is a change in schedule, she will send me emails again with new time and location. I told Peary from the beginning that since I am a beginner, I need someone very patient. So she got me Chris and he turns out to be awesome. He knows how to explains all the details and tricks in a simple way. He is patient and he is always on time. I think there were times that I drove terribly but he was never mad at me. He just kept practicing with me until I got it. He suggested me taking the last hour class on the same day as my road test. We got there early and he practiced in a neighborhood that has similar traffic situation as the road test. And he reviewed all the important details with me again and again for almost 2 hours. Right before the road test he also gave me a mock test which I think is very helpful. I passed the road test with one attempt which is totally beyond my expectation. I am glad that I have chosen Professional Driving School. Thanks to Chris and Peary who have been really helpful and nice to me. I will for sure recommend it to my friends in the future.

I needed a car for a driving test last minute and they fit me in which was good. The car they provided was not good at all. It was Nissan Sentra with 230,000 miles on the clock; every mile showed. The car drove very badly, distractions you don’t need when taking a test. The outside was very dented and scratched, but this is not important. The mechanical issues however were a great distraction during the lesson and test. I passed the test but no thanks to Professional Driving School of the Americas.
