I have Dentophobia - a paralyzing fear of the dentists office. I don't know why, but I shake and panic, get a dry mouth, and feel like my throat is closing up. Dr. Diamond and her assistant go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I have never felt so confident going to the dentist. While I still have the phobia, they walk me through it step by step, and even help me prevent skipping appointments (which I used to do regularly because of my anxiety). They are beyond amazing and I couldn't suggest them enough. I wish I had better words to explain how much they have helped me.

I have always been very pleased with Arrowhead, but today they went completely beyond my expectations. I had to bring my 3 month old child to my appointment and she slept through half of my cleaning. She began to fuss and wanted to get out of her car seat. The hygienist, Nicole, was so sweet talking to her and helped me try to calm her. Another staff member popped in and offered to hold her if I was comfortable with that. She held and soothed my daughter in the room and could not have been nicer about it! She seemed genuinely pleased to be there, not like she needed to be doing anything else at that moment. I was so impressed! Nicole finished my cleaning and answered all of my questions about caring for my daughter's teeth when they come in. No one on the staff acted like they were annoyed or rushed during the whole time we were there. What a wonderful experience from a place that I have been very happy with already. Another awesome experience at Arrowhead Dental in Charlestown. After years of getting what I considered exceptional dental care in downtown DC, I'm kind of blow away my experiences at Arrowhead. The culture of this organization clearly focuses on every aspect of "caring" for their clients. Every time I have an appointment, I am met with courteous, positive, competent, and friendly people at every step of the appointment process. The organization impressively embraces and effectively uses cutting edge technology. The premises are spotless and new. Every dental professional I've interacted with has been kind, gentle, and extremely thorough and clear in communicating with me about every step of each procedure and follow-up care. Today I was dreading having what I believed would be white-knuckled tooth cap and a possible root canal procedures. I don't know why I ever doubted them. Dr. Diamond and her assistant Sorally were simply amazing. I didn't even realize Dr. Diamond had made the novacaine injection - and the temporary crown Sorally prepared was a perfect fit. I highly recommend this practice to everyone!

I recently changed dentists from capalbo. I am so happy that I did!! They have a wonderful team over here. I had a root canal done and never felt it. The doctor actually called me and this is the 2nd time to see if I was feeling okay!! I have never had a dentist in my life that called to check on me. All of the doctors here work as a team so you are never sent any place for any other work. Everything they have here is state-of-the-art. Very impressive but what's even more impressive is the staff. Arrowhead Dental is the best dental practice around. From the friendly, professional staff to the most up to date techniques they have it all. Once a year Arrowhead has a Saturday where they provide free dental care for members of the community who have no dental insurance and limited funds. They bring entertainment into Ninigret Park with concerts and free movies. Dr. Walsh is my dentist and Brenda is my hygienist but you can’t go wrong with any of the dentists on staff.

My experience with Arrowhead exemplifies the problem with a large practice. I started going here because it was conveniently close to home. The everyday service was great. However, when I needed help most is when they really let me down. When I went there with a toothache I was given antibiotics and Ibuprofen and an appointment 10 days later. I called about 6pm the next night saying pain was much worse meds were no help. The response I got was ‘we can’t do anything to help you tonight, here’s an appointment for 4pm tomorrow’. So after an incredibly miserable night of pain (and vomiting from too much Ibuprofen) my wife called them for me the next morning to again ask for help- Nothing! They told her I needed to decide whether I wanted to save the tooth or have it pulled- and see you at 4! Around noon (about 30hrs of misery and counting) the Dentist I had first seen called and told me that there actually wasn’t anything they could do for me today, I should never have been given the 4pm appointment, and gave me the numbers for 2 OTHER dental offices to call! Of course neither one had any openings. At this point I gave up and decided to go to a Hospital Emergency room. I stopped at Arrowhead to give them one last chance and got the only useful action from them in 36hrs, a referral to University Oral Surgery. I feel like if I’d been at a single-Dr. practice (a) I would have been given better pain management because my Dentist would actually know me, and (b) I wouldn’t have been given bad advice and a useless appointment because (again) my Dentist would know me and the details of my case. So to summarize- 2 of 2 stars for everyday service, 0 of 3 stars for emergencies.

Arrowhead provides wonderful and professional services from kids to adults. The office staff are friendly and helpful. I have been going here literally since my first tooth, and even though I live an hour away now, it is worth the drive. Dr. Walsh is very patient and calm. As a high school student who has never had oral surgery before, I was very nervous for my wisdom teeth removal. I don't remember much of the actual procedure due to the anesthetics, however, what I recall very clearly is the treatment I had received from one of the Arrowhead dental assistants, Lauren Lee. Ms. Lee greeted me with a smile and reassured me that everything was going to be alright. She could tell that I was very nervous during the preparation of the surgery and held my hand as they injected the needle into my arm. I don't remember much after that due to the anesthetics. However, my mother told me that when they called her into the room, Ms. Lee spent considerable time explaining to her how the surgery went, while she was also kindly and gently calming me as I was coming in and out of delirium. Overall, on the day of my procedure Ms. Lee was gentle, kind, understanding and professional. I couldn't have asked for a better assistant to take care of me.
