I hate writing bad reviews but I came here because of all the good reviews and I really feel the need to share my experience... I will start with the good. The office is very fresh and clean, all of the staff was very nice, they had a lot of perks like a warm neck wrap and a TV you can watch while you have your teeth cleaned. It seemed like they did a thorough job cleaning and examining my mouth. Now I will go into the bad. I haven't been to a dentist for a cleaning in a couple of years, and I told them this when I booked my appointment. I heard this was a good place to go for people who were afraid of the dentist. They told me I needed 2 fillings from my previous dentist replaced, 6 new fillings, and that I have periodontal disease and need scaling and root planning. During my exam, they measured a handful of 5mm deep pockets in my gums and they told me paying the $2,000 to treat periodontal disease should be my number one priority, even before fixing my cavities. All throughout the appointment they stressed how important it was that I get the periodontal disease treatment immediately, how serious this disease is, how having an infection in my mouth is like having an open wound on my arm, etc. Needless to say I was totally horrified. At the end of the visit they handed me a $4,000 quote for all of the work I need done. When I reviewed the quote in the office I was a little skeptical about the gum disease treatment... the line items on the quote included a lot of "extras" in addition to the actual periodontal cleanings (Things such as supplements, vitamins, a tongue scraper, etc). So I drove 3 hours back to my childhood dentist to get a second opinion. After the appointment at Peak Dental health I was scrupulous with my dental routine, flossing twice a day, brushing a full 2 minutes, using a gum brush, and a fluoride rinse. My childhood dentist did bite-wing x-rays (Peak Dental only did a panarex which my old dentist said didn't show enough detail), examined my mouth, and told me my gums look very healthy. She walked through all of the x-rays with me and said she sees absolutely no signs of bone loss (which would be present in someone with periodontal disease) and she barely even sees any tarter. She told me sometimes if you have bad dental hygiene and your gums are inflamed, pockets can look deeper than they actually are. She said if they did a periodontal exam and they measured some 5's on a patient - especially one that hadn't been to the dentist in a while - they would do a special type of cleaning and see how much tarter scraping I could handle at a regular appointment. Then, they would discuss dental hygiene techniques, prescribe fluoride tooth paste, and ask me to come back in 3 months and see if the pockets have decreased. She stressed they would NOT jump straight to scaling and root planning. Additionally, peak dental health told me I needed 6 cavities filled. I asked my dentist to check those too and after looking at the x-ray she said they had marked all of these as "watch" areas years ago and 5 of them haven't progressed to cavities. She said even if I was her daughter, she wouldn't do a filling on these yet. Overall, Peak Dental Health will claim that periodontal disease is very under treated and a very serious health problem, which I believe is true. But I feel like I was being taken advantage of. As a new patient they tried to scare me into paying a huge amount of money for a treatment rather than working with me and trying to exhaust all less invasive methods, like using good home care and extra dental cleanings. I did really like the office, but I feel like I can't trust them. I think if I had come there with perfect teeth, I wouldn't have a problem, but I need a dentist that will be honest with me and try to work through problems and try easy solutions before jumping to extremes. P.S. If you read other reviews you will see I am not the only one who was told they have periodontal disease and need $$$$ treatment. If you have deep pockets this dentist might be for you!

I had a great experience with the team at Peak Dental Health. And so did all 3 of my children! Which speaks volumes! The office is state of the art and beautiful which always make it a pleasant visit. Not to mention the personal service! I had an emergency procedure in which they happily fixed on the day their offices were closed - they came to the rescue! Oh! And make sure to ask for your favorite music, they literally will stream your favorite genre throughout the office to lift your spirits!

I'm new to the area and this office was recommended by my doctor. I found it to be a very up to date and professional office as well as an entire staff of people who are so kind and easy to deal with. Dr. Andren is probably the gentlest dentist I have ever dealt with. My recent visit was to replace a couple of old fillings and deal with a new one. Which I was told they found because of a new piece of technology they use that is able to locate a cavity before it gets to be a problem. I felt no discomfort at all which is not my usual experience at the dentist. I am very pleased and would recommend this practice to anyone. Especially if you are sensitive to pain and have a history of dentist anxiety.

Please beware, this is a practice that puts profits over patients. I came to Peak Dental because I was looking for a dentist a little closer to my new home than my previous dentist of almost 20 years. At first glance, I was impressed with the practice - the staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. However, at the end of my visit, the hygienist brought out a statement of almost $2000 worth of procedures I "needed." Included on this was a $1500 procedure to treat a diagnosis of "periodontal disease." I have gone to the dentist religiously my whole life and never been told there is an issue with my gums or teeth. Skeptical, I made an appointment with my previous dentist to get a second opinion. I didn't want to be negligent if there truly was a problem, but I also didn't want to get conned into an expensive and unnecessary procedure. After a thorough examination and xrays, my dentist informed me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my gums. No bacterial infection, no bone damage, and no need to treat. Peak Dental claims to be 'experts' on periodontal disease, but of note, my office also treats periodontal disease and charges 50% less than Peak Dental for the same procedure. However, my dentist also informed me that Peak Dental completely missed a developing cavity in my mouth! This is a practice that looks for any way possible to make money off their patients. I would absolutely use caution before deciding to visit this practice. Completely shameful and dishonest.

As someone who experiences intense anxiety at the dentist, I absolutely recommend this practice. Dr. Andren has a wonderful chair side manner that makes all the difference, on top of being a skilled dentist. Last fall I had a very painful toothache resulting in an emergency root canal and multiple follow up visits. Despite how awful the pain was, my memory of that week is positive because of the care I received at Peak Dental.

Dr. Andren and his staff (Jody,Stephaine, Rebecca, Heidi) All were super helpful and just lovely people. I am not an easy person to win over! The vibe was professional and very laid back. You could tell instantly that all of the staff love their jobs. They truly enjoy and want people to feel comfortable with their dental experience. I almost did not want to leave. They have local coffee and there is a TV on the ceiling. The office decor was streamlined and full of sunlight. The free teeth whitening for life is fantastic. This dental practice isn't just "the dentist", not only do they make their patients' long-term dental health the top priority, they make your in-office experience fun. With a new, clean, bright office (that is environmentally "green", by that way), Dr. Andren and his team remember your name, customize the music to fit your tastes, and personalize your visit. I switched from another dentist--whose level of care was also very good--because Peak was closer to home, but I've found the patient experience to be completely different. We searched extensively for a dental practice in southern Maine that emphasizes whole health and is eco-friendly. It took us 40 minutes to get Peak Dental, but was well worth the drive. We are impressed with the thorough exam, cleaning and root-cause problem analysis that was clearly communicated and displayed on their advanced diagnostic equipment. I am confident their recommended plan to address long-standing inflammation issues will be effective. The staff is friendly, polite and greets me by name when I walk in - very rare with busy offices! My hygienist genuinely asks how I’m doing and is very easy to talk to. The only thing I miss (which is trivial, I know) is the random tooth brushes and odds/ends I’d get from my old dentist. They come in handy when I travel! They don’t offer them, so I’m not sure if it’s something I have to ask for or something that would cost extra. I have heard people saying that they diagnose ‘everyone’ with periodontal disease and make them go through treatments etc., but when I started at Peak, my gums bled when I brushed. My old dentist just said “floss more” and it never helped. Was the treatment pricey? Slightly. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Overall it is a lovely place and thanks to their care, my gums no longer bleed when I brush :)

I don't think many people are able to say they LOVE going to their dentist, but I believe that's because they aren't going to Peak Dental Health. I'm so gratefull I found Peak Dental and became a patient. My gums were in very bad shape and I didn't even realize it as the dentists I've been to in the past didn't identify a major problem. They also didn't have the technology Peak Dental has and didn't do the bacterial culture tests. Heidi at Peak Dental was able to heal my gums for the most part so far and the deep cleanings were less invasive than I imagined. The entire staff is extremely helpfull and kind. And they were the only green dentist office around I could find. They are open on Fridays too! I only wish I found them years ago.

What a difference going to this practice compared to regular dental practices. I was so nervous going to my appointment as it had been nearly 7 years since I was last at the dentist (mostly due to my irrational fear). I got a flat tire on the way and was 40 minutes late for my appointment. They still got me in! The environment was so comfortable I didn't even feel like I was in a dentist office. Not to mention they are environmentally friendly and every new patient leaves with a gift bag . Everyone was so welcoming and it really is a judgment free zone. They gave me a hot neck wrap and I even got to watch Rachel Ray with the option of having head phones in. There was nothing typical about this office. When I left I felt really good about making my follow up appoint and taking care of my dental health; that is something I never thought I would say! I could never imagine going to a different office to get anything done. I HIGHLY recommend making an appointment, especially if you are nervous or it has been a while.

Awesome overall experience. I had a phobia of needles in my mouth and bad past experiences with dental practices. After my last visit at Peak Dental Health and my experience with Dr. Andren, Leslie and Joanna I feel 10 times better about going back. Its difficult to put into words how amazing they are and how enjoyable my visit was. Going to the dentist used to be my worst nightmare growing up. Peak has totally changed my opinion on dentists. They really take the time to explain everything to you. Instead of just saying brush your gums better and they won’t bleed they look into your bacteria profile to see if there is a reason your gums bleed. If you are looking for a dentist's office, do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment with Peak Dental. They are the kindest and sweetest staff you will meet in any office you go to. They know your name when you walk in, always have a smile, and all truly seem to enjoy their job and where they work. I have read in other reviews that they "force" you into 4 cleanings, which is not true. Some people should get more than 2 cleanings a year and some insurance companies are now covering cleanings every 3 months. I just look at that as quality care from a staff that in invested in your oral health. Never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist, but I really do enjoy showing up here. Call and schedule.

The Peak Dental team is awesome! They are thorough, honest and have a high work ethic across the board. I love the quality care and it has been worth it even for someone like me who is paying mostly out of pocket. What can I say, I only accept the top shelf and the quality care I have received has been worth it. I have been in the process of getting new fillings after a great cleaning and information about gum health. I like that they are willing to do work over time, and clearly explain everything and are honest about the priorities. They do not go to the most invasive procedure for answers. I could name all the great people like Dr. A and Crystal but you seriously can't go wrong with the entire team and experience. Especially if you haven't been to the dentist in a while or if you have dental trauma; this is the place to change your views and get rid of dental anxiety. This, can give you confidence and brighten your smile, which can then brighten another and another's, so see, now your changing all types of lives just because you took care of your teeth by visiting Peak Dental. Kudos!

First there is the friendly desk support, who call you when opening are available and know me by name and say hello when I walk in. Best dental experience I have had! Needless to say, I do not like going to the dentist. When I first went to Peak Dental, I had not seen a dentist in 4 years. I had a lot of anxiety about my smile after having a lot of work done on my teeth when I was young, I ended up with leaking bonding which caused stains on the fronts of my teeth. I never would smile with my teeth because I hated the way they looked. I talked with Heidi and Dr. Andren about it and we made a treatment plan. The very next week, they got me in to have new bondings done on the 7 teeth that had issues. The process was quick, easy, affordable and I left with a HUGE white smile for the first time since I can remember. Stephanie handles payments and insurance and she is extremely knowledgeable about plans and goes the extra mile to make sure there are no unexpected costs to the patient. She even went so far as to call me to let me know my dental benefits increased significantly this year, meaning I can get 4 cleaning per year and free sealants for life. I booked an appointment for the very next day! The Peak Dental team has an extreme emphasis on the patient experience. They go the extra mile to make each visit feel like a visit to a spa by offering loose leaf tea, infused water, warm neck wraps, and free whitening for life. The staff are all very friendly and personable and visits feel like I am chatting with friends. It is nice that they have the dental expertise, sensitivity to dental cosmetics and a customer-focused office. I am so glad that I found Peak Dental and I am looking forward to my next visit!

Aside from a beautiful new office, the staff at Peak go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Personal tv's, warm neck wraps, comfortable chairs, and music of your choice make for a really great experience. On top of that Dr. Andren did an amazing job reconstructing my two front teeth. I was a little nervous considering they are the first thing people see when I smile, but he did an amazing job. They still look and feel like my own teeth, just way better!

I wish I could give Peak Dental ten stars!. I just had my third visit and feel like I've won the lottery finding this team. Here's why. They're compassionate. I deeply dislike going to the dentist. Seriously hate it. I even get nervous about having my teeth cleaned. These guys are ready for me the minute I walk into the door. Warm neck wrap, gentle words, all the time I need, lots of laughing! They're holistic. I have been so impressed with the holistic approach that they've taken to my dental health. Our discussions have included sleep, nutrition and overall health. They're modern. Maybe I've just always gone to old dentists, but I love all of the new technology that this office offers. Best feature is the machine that makes crowns while you wait. No more temporary crowns for me. They're green. This is one of the reasons I started coming here. Dr. Andren and his like minded team are constantly looking for new ways to reduce the office's carbon footprint. From the type of sterilization they use cotton hand towels instead of paper, they do a ton. They do great work! Just had two fillings yesterday. No residual pain at all. No feeling like my bite is off. My teeth look great! All in all, a solid team of professionals, a bright space and a Dentist that does great work! For the record, I wasn't diagnosed with periodontal disease as some of the negative reviewers below have suggested all patients are:)

Dr. Andren has provided my husband and myself with the highest quality of care and concern for our dental health. We have nothing other then the upmost faith in his abilities to treat our dental needs. We both have had some significant dental work completed with Dr. Andren and could not be happier with our results. We actually moved away from the area a year ago however, we still travel to Falmouth to keep him as our dentist because of this. Our travel time consists of at least a 5 hour round trip from the eastern Maine area but we both feel so well worth our time to recieve such superior care. Dr. Andren was recommended to me by my daughter, who as well has total faith in his dental care . I stronlgly encourage any persons seeking dental care to try this practice. I had been trying to find someone I felt confident enough in to proceed with an implant started 8 years earlier. I have had a great experience over the past year and a half with Dr. Andrew and the staff at Peak Dental. I had gone to the same dentist for nearly 30 years before moving to Maine, getting cleaning every 6 months, brushing and flossing regularly. I was told everything was fine! My gums were receding, my teeth were quite sensitive and I was told I was doing everything I could to minimize the discomfort and take the best care of them. At my first visit to Peak Dental I was told I had significant gingivitis and a treatment plan was recommended. I was a bit shocked at the price tag and the intensity of the therapy, but the thoroughness of the exam and the reasoning behind the therapy made sense to me. So I signed up and did everything they suggested; ultrasonic deep cleaning under my gums, a course of antibiotics, replacing old amalgam fillings, crowns on a couple of molars, a night guard to prevent grinding, using an electric toothbrush twice daily, using the water pik with antibacterial solution to irrigate under my gums, a special mouthwash, a probiotic lozenge. It sounds like a lot, and it was but......I have reaped benefits I never expected. The periodontal disease is under good control with no bleeding when I have a cleaning, my teeth are not sensitive any more - I can even bite an ice cream cone, drink hot liquids or cold liquids without any discomfort! I don't have "morning mouth" any more and the whitening gel has made a big difference in how my teeth look. I'm grateful to Peak Dental for all of this plus I know that not having chronic infection and inflammation in my mouth is much better for my general health and allows my immune system to function normally.
