Chical's is my go-to for cheap cigarettes (cheaper by $2 or more per pack!), and super cute clothes, boots, purses, jewelry, and accessories. The fashion section of the shop is typically on the pricey side, however, the product quality is top-notch, and they always have sales going on with clearance items at great prices. Be sure to save your receipt for purchases in case you need to return or exchange, however, because they really stick to that policy.
They also sell farm and horse equipment and accessories, which seem to be priced reasonably, though my basis for comparison is the saddleries I used to patronize near Chicago, which were naturally more expensive.
I've seen some reviews which claim the staff is unfriendly, and I'm not sure they are fair assessments. Every interaction I've had with numerous members of their staff has been friendly, helpful, and professional. In fact, my most recent visit left me sad for the gal at the register, who told me, "Ma'am, you're the nicest customer I've had all day," which leads me to believe that quite a lot of folks must go in there with the weight of the day on their shoulders or in an otherwise sour mood, which is then projected upon the employees. Which, in turn, may make an employee feel they must behave rather standoffish in order to guard against grumpy, demanding, or negative customer attitudes.
When we go here, or any other retail establishment for that matter, especially around the holidays, we have to try to remember that the people who are serving us are also human and have emotions. They woke up that morning and chose to go into work to take care of our needs and earn a living. They don't deserve to be abused, no matter how badly our own day has gone. So, please keep this in mind if you come across any negative reviews of this place. If you walk in and mind your manners, they're going to treat you like gold. But, if you walk in and start treating these folks like you're the only customer who matters and talk down to them, don't expect anyone to be clamoring to take care of you and then leave with a sense that the business owed you better service, because the attitude you bring in is going to dictate how well the visit pans out. And not just here; anywhere you go.
