Great place for coffee and a snack while walking through church street. Two milk alternatives- almond milk and oat milk! Thank you for offering vegan options!
Mocha latte was so smooth. Burlington has great coffee and this is a great spot... wheelchair friendly, great staff.
Great coffee, service was wonderful, and the view from the window allows you to watch Church street wake up.
Good quality coffee at a reasonable price. Definitely gets busy, especially if you're hoping to get a table. It can fill up and get tricky. But their ordering system is efficient and they move people through well, certainly better than most small shops. While my bagel with cream cheese was good, the mocha was clearly the star of the show.
Good god their baked items are ridiculously good, especially the cheddar, ham, and rosemary biscuit.
Great coffee but, quite pricey. A small is smaller than anywhere else I've been.
Offers oatmilk at no additional cost
Great ambiance. Good for old fashioned coffee, pastries and conversation... and where else will you find almond milk, regular milk, goat's milk and oat milk for your coffee??
They got that killer tszuj. Best hot coco around and they got some amazing coffee and tea creations, as well as plenty of seasonal stuff like hot cider. I like some of the baked goods but honestly they have so much vegan stuff that it can be difficult to just find a good snack like a pastry or something with cheese instead of some gluten free or vegan sugary thing. But regardless- if the line makes you wary of going in, it moves fast and the environment and witty staff are enough to keep coming as well as all the goodies.
Coffee was great... The line went quick, with pleasant staff on the other side of the counter. The mocha latte was not top sweet like a lot of others I've had, which i really enjoyed the change! You could really taste the dark chocolate.
The best coffee and pastry around Church street.
Phenomenal experience
I love this spot. Great coffee, awesome people. My go-to spot when I'm in town.
The coffee here is always amazing. They make espresso drinks right and they taste great. One thing of note is that their baked goods are not the best. The coffee more than makes up for it though.
Best coffee Cafe in Burlington. Beans roasted on site.
These folks are the salt of the Earth, and I will wrestle anyone who claims otherwise! Warm and friendly staff, expert service, and a Church Street staple.
Great decor and characteristic of the Burlington vibe.
My favorite coffee shop in Vermont. Wonderful people, decent selection, and the best coffee I've had in years.
They did not offer any light roast coffees.
Service is very polite and take the right amount of time to get your coffee right. If you are looking for local go here!
Full disclosure, I don't drink coffee. But I love Uncommon Grounds. Great soda and lemonade and teas.
Great coffee, amazing folks! Everyone there is super nice.
Great coffee. Very popular place to study; very crowded during mid-terms and finals.
Some of the best espresso in Burlington. Definitely a art form to the pack and the roast, that the churning of automated machine could never replace. Warning this place may become a new addiction.
As someone who has never been to the region before, the idea of a maple latte intrigued me. I ordered one, and I've been dreaming about it since. Damn good coffee and service.
After hearing lots of praise for this place, I felt let down by a small, mediocre cup of coffee and a loud, cramped atmosphere. In a city with lots of great coffee options, this is one to skip.
Coffee is much better than at chain places. Seating is nice and plentiful. Can get pretty crowded but staff does a good job at moving people along.
Great coffee and people working there were even greater. They offered free refill which is uncommon in the state that i live in.
Great coffee and pleasant staff. Needed a warm up in downtown -30 degrees
Great coffee shop. Roast beans on site; wonderful smell once you walk in. Great blends of beans to go or have a cup made there.
loved the mocha here.
Consistently fantastic drinks. Quick, friendly service. Always a great variety of pastries. Prices are super.
Decent atmosphere, friendly staff, but the espresso I had was most unpleasant. I do quite like the bathroom key praying mantis!
Best coffee around hands down.
Great tea and coffee. Try the savory scone (spinach & red peppers).
Delicious chocolate chip cookies and coffe
We ordered a bunch of coffee to go for a brunch and it was delicious! Very easy to work with Uncommon Grounds and our guests loved the various flavors!
Nice local business. Friendly and helpful staff, willing to chat if it's slow. Really good coffee time taken to do it right and better prices than the competition. Go here. Learn a little about your coffee and pay less for better stuff.
Friendly staff, great coffee, relaxed yet spunky atmosphere
I have been visiting Uncommon Grounds when I am in Burlington now for about 20 years, they are always busy because they are always consistantly great!
Great spot super coffee and friendly staff too!
Always great.
This is a great coffee shop on Church Street. Really good coffee and a great selection of bakery items.
Best coffee in town
They roast their own coffee. Delicious!
Best coffee in town. Interesting people. Food options are OK. They offer free wifi, but no outlets for charging?
Friendly staff, great coffee, fresh pastries, dependable wifi. Ambience is bright and busy.
Great staff, good coffee, perfect location!
Friendly knowledge staff and the coffee is very good also.
Friendly staff, good coffee and a nice atmosphere for coffee and sketching. What more could one ask for? Oh, yeah. It's local.
Funky coffee shop with a wide selection of coffees and teas. Found the place to be a little crowded with tables really close together.
I like that place, specially the no cellphone while ordering policy
Awesome drink and snack selection, the Darkside (with a little half & half in, be careful, the espresso fizzes a LOT when you stir it in) and the rum cake being my favorites. The baristas are always fast and cheerful! Definitely my favorite coffee place.
Hands down the best coffee in Burlington. I recommend just getting an iced coffee and enjoying it without the milk. Unlike many coffee places, this coffee isn’t burned so you can taste all of the delicious, complex flavors that the bean holds. If it’s a little colder outside, go for the cappuccino and a biscotti. Regardless, you can’t go wrong here!
Cool place, great drinks and food
Great coffee! i smelled this place a block and a half away, it smells amazing. they roast the beans on premises and do it very well. The prices are not outlandish, and if you stay in shop you get a free refill. i loved this place.
Loved this place! Very unique, great staff, and great coffee!
Best coffee in Vermont. Have to remove a star for the lack of seating.
The best coffee in Burlington.
this is an encyclopedic illustration of a coffee shop. very good coffee (duh), had a scone that i am still puzzled over how the hell they made it because it was so delicious, music piped in that is outside my standard taste but somehow exactly what i need right now. very pleasant service, ive been to coffee shops all over the nation and this is amongst the best. at this moment, i want for nothing.
I enjoy having coffee a pastry and reading my book Secret the Power by Rhonda Byrne
Modern environment, great coffee. Especially the maple latte. Usually a long line at peak hours, but worth the wait if you're with friends.
Coffee is OK (sorry, I am European and we have better coffee for half price) and tea was not fresh made. The place is nice and the terrace too. What I would improve...? 1.- very easy to make fresh tea and 2.- ask students/attendants to smile. It's cheap and add a lot of value. Will I come back? Yes.
One of favourite coffee shops in town. Great coffee, helpful staff, amazing beans. Just visit okay.
Seems to always be busy the coffee is good but sometimes not worth the wait
Best espresso in town
Decent not spectacular. To pricey for quality.
Excellent staff, good variety of baked goods, and the best coffee in Vermont. We serve their Brazilian roast at our AirBnB, and it routinely disappears to delighted guests. For prepared drinks, they serve the best chai of any coffee house in Burlington: it's truly spicy with black pepper amongst the cinnamon and clove. Two things to be aware of if you're sipping in: tables fill up quickly, and there are no public outlets. Be sure to arrive early and with a fully-charged laptop if you plan to stay a while. They do have free wifi.
I really love this place! The tea is good and this is very nice and unique place to go!
Tried once this coffee and had their homemade lemonade (with lavender) and one of their vegan cupcakes. They don't have that much vegan pastries but at least one or two choices. My boyfriend had their soy lattee and it was great to his opinion. Wifi available
Divine coffee indeed. And I'm a avid connoisseur.
Delicious coffee, but not a great atmosphere for studying because they don’t have outlets that customers can use. If you are looking for a place to do work, I’d suggest another location, but if you want to grab a quick cup with a pal, it’d be a fabulous location for you!
Delicious, great quality drinks and amazing baked goods! I actually don't mind places like Starbucks but it's hard to go there after having Uncommon so often. You can really notice a difference as Uncommon has a much cleaner, unprocessed taste. The beans are roasted right there daily so they definitely reign based on freshness alone! Don't be afraid of the line either. The way they have organized their service makes everything move along quite quickly.
Delicious. Authentic. Coffee lovers.
Love coffee cafes and this one is worth stopping at..,uncommonly good!
Good atmosphere, great coffee at good prices, seems to always be busy. The only negative I would say is their default to use disposable cups instead of asking for here or to go.
Pleasant counter staff and good coffee, but for me, the ambiance wasn't pleasant. Room is a bit claustrophobic -- long, dark and narrow with a single row of tables stretching to the rear. More important, the raucous alternative rock made it hard to relax.
THE coffeeshop in town
Awesome place to get a cup of coffee.
Great spot in downtown Burlington for a relaxed cuppa and maybe a little snack.
Nice and simple little coffee shop featuring brands from several countries. I had a cold latte and the espresso blend was tasty far different from Starbucks across the street. Not much boulangerie offered - 1 croissant 1bar 1 brownie. Service was quick and efficient but not too friendly or engaging. When asked about the different brews and how the cafe works, the staff was compliant but nothing else. A no frills coffee shop.
Great little coffee shop with a chill hipster atmosphere, just like most things in Burlington. Good selection of freshly made drinks and cookies/pastries to go along with them. Prices are about the same as everything in the area.
Not serving anything but regular coffee because their steamer is broken. Don't seem to have a plan to fix this asap. Staff not making recommendations from the limited menu, just pointing to shelf saying "these coffees and teas is all we have". Coffee filled in paper cup before asking if it is to go or stay. Filled up to the rim, no space for milk. Table shaky so overfilled paper cup spilled all over. Came here as tourist with great expectations bases in reviews, very disappointed.
Went there ion recommendation and the coffee is pretty great. Tried their maple syrup latte which was pretty cool and well worth a try. I love these little places that offer a local twist to something standard. Great place, great coffee good atmosphere
Good selection of drinks, coffee in general very good.
Great place to stop and have a coffee with free WiFi.
UG continues to be one of the best roasters around. Small batches, socially and environmentally responsible sourcing of green berries/beans. Pleasant to exceptionally pleasant staff. Quality selection of teas and tasty local baked goods top it off. Ubiquitous WiFi of course.
Staff is a bit weird but the coffee is great!
Delicious strawberry lemonade!
Always busy, and with good reason. Great coffee, pastry and upbeat, responsive baristas.
Great casual spot to grab a delicious cup of joe; bought loose leaf tea and some roasted coffee; nice staff and one even recommended a thrift shop for me to walk too! Loved this place. Not uptight.
ON-TAP, DELICIOUS LOCAL ROOT BEER!!!!! Do I really have to say more than that???
Lovely coffee and beautiful old building
The best fresh ground coffee. When I go to Burlington it on my must stop list. I order coffee from here to washington, D.C.
Lovely little coffee shop. Good coffee, friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere.
Best coffee in Burlington
Great staff , way better and cheaper coffee than Starbucks across the street. The benches are fun to sit in.
I'm not a coffee guy, but my wife likes it and they have a good selection...
Uncommon is a favorite!
Lots of great coffee in Burlington. This is one of the best in my opinion.
I always have an amazing experience at Uncommon Grounds! I used to only drink Starbucks as a Midwesterner but they've converted me and I highly suggest them!
As always good and crowded
Great place for coffee when in Burlington. The mocha I had was just the best
Long lines and a bit pricey, but good service and quality products.
Great, great, international gourmet coffees. Ground on premises. Very popular place. Convenient location at north end of Church Street.
Smooth coffee. Good service. Surprisingly busy on a Sunday afternoon.
Great Coffee. Local art on the walls. Nice place to study or people watch. Preferably both.
Good selection of teas and baked goods, laid-back atmosphere, plenty of tables to work from.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Burlington. Great coffee roasted fresh in house with fast and friendly staff and a very welcoming laid back atmosphere. Clean public restrooms and free WiFi. I would definitely recommend this place over the Starbucks across the street.
Love the vibe of this coffee shop. Of course great coffee but other drinks like hot chocolate is splendid as well.
Excellent coffee and friendly staff.
Very good coffee! Small sizes in north east are really small and I suggest getting at least medium!
The best drip coffee. I had the cinnamon cake, exquisite!
The coffee here is typically pretty good, although nothing to necessarily write home about. However, two days ago I ordered a double shot of espresso on my way back home from work, and I was very disappointed for the first time at this café. The drink was incredibly overextracted and the beans themselves were burnt, and while I am generally a fan of darker roasts and even the occasional French roast, this cup bordered on charcoal. Put simply, what has been a decent cup of espresso in the past was, on this occasion, essentially a caffeinated cup of tannins and burnt coffee cherries. The point is, this place isn’t particularly consistent when it comes to its product. Burlington has several VERY good coffeehouses that offer not only delicious drinks, but brews that would meet the standards of even the most discerning Q-grader. Don’t believe the hype.
Good coffee in a good location.
A great selection of coffees, a super tasting mocha, and a nice selection of local muffins, etc. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
It was ok. The coffee was alright. There are no outlets to charge your laptop. Seemed a little cramped. But overall 3 stars is not bad. They claim they brew there own beans, yet the house coffee tasted a bit better than maxwell house. Definitely not amazing, but better than Starbucks.
Best espresso and brownie I have had in a long time. The coffee is smooth and not over-heated. The brownie seems to be made with real cocoa and is not too sweet.
Great staff and atmosphere! Got a bunch of work done and relaxed at the same time. How is that possible?
Great coffee, tasty pastries. Occasional pretention of servers is sometimes endearing, sometimes obnoxious. Daily papers available while drinking your joe.
Best coffee shop in Burlington, beans roasted in shop, and great art and baristas
Uncommon Grounds has some of the best coffee in the area, but the tables are too dance and the plugs for laptops appear to have all been deliberately removed. Years ago this was a great place for studying, but now it's kind of a rushed and packed environment that just doesn't have the same function or ambiance that it used to.
Crowded coffee shop, nothing special, but conveniently located on Church Street.
Coffee cake was so fluffy and soft. Coffee was primo. Great local atmosphere.
So yummie. I was semi intimidated by all the choices so I told the barista how and what I like for coffee and she just made it! $8 for a large coffee and a delicious scone. Not bad at all
It wasn't just a coffee house. It was an experience. Staff was super friendly and fun. Hope to make back to Vermont. I miss it already.
Great hot chocolate. Very tasty spinach bagels. Relaxed and chill music and vibe.
The chain coffee places charge the same price for basic coffee, so i came here. The coffee was good. I enjoyed it while i was waiting for the mega bus. To be honest, i had bet Excuse grammar
Always make a point of stopping in every visit to Vermont
Classic Church Street coffee shop with amazing coffee and great vibes.
Strong, freshly brewed coffee, a couple of different blends and very good pricing.
A cute coffee place right on Church Street. I’ve been here twice for coffee (espresso and iced; both delicious). The vegan blueberry scone was excellent — it even had candied ginger inside for a tasty surprise. Great spot for a quick coffee and treat. (Note: Most food there is not vegan.)
Wonderful staff and a relaxing environment for a cup of coffee.
I was so happy I stopped here for coffee which was absolutely terrific! They were extremely busy at 9:45 AM on a Tuesday. Caters to alternative creamers. Interesting place.
Good drinks, consistently good selection of local pastries. I usually get the London fog. Staff is quick, sometimes distracted when slow.
Great coffee and lots of seating. Can be a bit tight/crowded, but then, that's a good sign, no?
Good coffee, but the counter staff isn't the most cheery.
Delicious coffee and great service
During a weekend in Burlington I made three or four trips to this great coffee shop. The Vermont-heavy maple latte is delicious and for non-coffee people, try a London Fog (Earl Grey and milk).
Coffee roasted right in building cant get much better
Just stopped by to grab a matcha latte. There was a long line when I arrived but the staff helped everyone quickly. It was very busy and looked like a nice place to get your caffeine fix with friends. There is plenty of seating. I bought a vegan apple scone and a large matcha latte which came out to around $7 which is a good price. The scone was great and the matcha latte was just ok. I'm not sure if they are using ceremonial matcha but I doubt it. But for the price I can't complain. Overall it's a nice place and I would go back. Especially because they have tasty vegan options.
Their coffee is amazing. A nice quaint place. Definitely a #hipster haven. Try their #mocha
Really great atmosphere. Excellent cold brew. Happy tummy.
My favorite coffee shop on the market place, roast beans right in shop, great coffee, Wi-Fi, bathrooms, great staff overall a nice warm spot to have a break.
Cozy atmosphere, delicious coffee and goodies.
Great place. Relaxed vibe. Smack dab in the middle of Church Street and all the action.
Great coffee and tea
Maple latte mmmmm
Great local coffee shop that roasts it's own coffee
Great coffee. Love the maple latte
Their maple lattes are sooo good! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff! Love coming here!!
Amazing coffee
Coffee was great and the hibiscus iced tea was refreshing. Was rathet crowded, but the tablea turned over pretty quickly.
In a place that knows a lot about coffee roasting, Burlington VT's Uncommon Grounds is the best I have experienced. I would consider this place to be a fine example of the 3rd wave coffee roasting movement. While I'm not a coffee connoisseur, I've studied the growing-roasting-brewing processes enough to know that the purveyors of this establishment are paying attention to high quality sources and services. Well done to the folks at Uncommon Grounds, and keep it up. I also like the atmosphere of the cafe. While it is a bit cramped, and always busy, the studious environs are appealing to my sensibilities.
Decent decaf coffee. They carry gluten free cookies from Liz Lovely -- the double chocolate mint is delicious. Staff is generally friendly depending who you get. Frequently really crowded -- not a place to feel comfortable spending hours on end.
The line out front made sense after tasting the coffee.
The service is Fast & Friendly, and they do not keep you waiting! They cook and grind their own coffees right on the site. During the summer they have seating outside, and plenty of seating inside as well. My favorite drink is the Italian coffee cooler which gives you that extra boost when you need it, and is refreshing as well.
Great place to chill out with some great coffee or tea. Wide variety of coffee for a cup or take a bag home.it can get busy during 7-9AM coffee break time.
