This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Diner.
101 Coffee shop was a good but not great dining experience. They have a wide selection on the menu, and the food is priced reasonably. They serve all day breakfast and eating breakfast at midnight is always nice. However the food was nothing special. Maybe cos it was Friday night and quite busy but our food took a while to come out and was luke warm. I will definitely eat at this place again, even if it is just for the free parking.
Service was great and so as foods.
Came here a few weeks ago after visiting from Scotland. Had the meatloaf dinner and haven't stopped thing about it! Absolutely delicious and the salad that came with it was the best salad I've ever had. 10/10 would love to eat here again.
The 50/50 shake was delicious. So was the French dip and mash potatoes. Thumbs up
fun ambiance , great location , tasty diner
Everything I've tried here is delicious. Cute interior too.
A great place any time of day but gets packed after the bars close. Still never wait long for an order. Limited menu but filled with great all day items from breakfast to dinner.
This rating is purely on service. My waitress was very sweet and kept saying nice things to me. Was working very hard and kept a smile on her face even though there was one tough customer. I didn’t get her name however she was the one with the tattooed arms and kinda looked like classic Wonder Woman.
Great old school diner/coffee shop. Food and service is great as well as the old decor. Convenient location.
Love this place.
Parking is rough, we lucked out and got a spot on the street after about 10 minutes of looking... Coffee is ehhh ... BLT Outstanding, Fries Great (plate was missing a pickle). Dessert ... Brownie Waffle and Vanilla Ice Cream with Hot Fudge (missing nuts, whip cream and a cherry) pretty good. Found the place after watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Staff is friendly, all in all a good time.
Food was soooooo good. Great, quiet atmosphere!!!
One of my favorite diners in LA. Staff has been here forever! They are great! The food is wonderful and it is charming...
Great food. Great service. Reasonably priced. Hip scene. What more can you ask for?
Great food
Didn’t see any celebrities, unfortunately. That was the whole reason my boyfriend took me here. On the bright side, the food was good, the wait staff are incredible, and the jukebox has a great selection!
Great Food and Service!
Fast & friendly service, traditional cafe diner with classy fare. Salmon hash plate is a favorite.
The atmosphere was so cool and the people who worked there were really nice but I thought the food was a little over priced for what it was. I had a veggie burger with fries and it was just mediocre. I'll try again, perhaps it was just a fluke because my friends told me everything was good there. There are booths which are very comfy as well as tables. Lots of drink options.
Great sandwiches here. Nice service and comfortable ambiance.
Hidden spot. It could b way better!
Arrived at seven, it wasn't crowded. The staff was very friendly and kind. The bill won't shock you.
Best diner in LA. Never got disappointed. Always tasty food and pretty cool environment.
Meh. I like it, don't get me wrong. Good place to hang for late night dining. Given what I paid for my meal (17.00) but I had a sad looking caesar salad with a tuna melt that looked like they gave up on making it. I think everybody working that night just wanted to go home..so,meh.
great location to chill, eat some good food. the service was friendly and sociable. bring your appetite because portions are generous.
I love this place! Cozy and casual feel. A great place to meet friends. There is usually parking in the lot, and if not the street parking is pretty ample.
The 101 is a piece of a piece of Hollywood history, and a great spot to grab a tasty and affordable bite at the bottom of the hill that leads to the famous Hollywood (land) sign. Beyond a solid, if unspectacular, array of eats, it boasts a fabulous jukebox, off-street parking, and a friendly, efficient staff.
Solid service and decent diner style food. Had a nostalgic atmosphere. Docking it for the service fee they include and overall quality of my club sandwich but will be back to try some more!
Bad experience, never coming again. Food too expensive, not as good, prices really outrageous, and On top of that bad customer service.
I live nearby and have been going here for about 10 years. It is wonderful to be able to get breakfast at 2 a.m. :-) try the breakfast burrito! I suggest it with egg whites and no sour cream :-) if you get hash browns, I suggest asking them to be a little crispy. While some of the prices are a bit crazy such as an $8 milkshake, the convenience factor certainly weighs in
Good vegan options. Tasty and reasonably priced
Great food. A little loud but the food is worth it!
Food was good nothing out of the world but GREAT service and FAST, which is a major plus. Must come here :)
Service is okay and the place is usually busy but great food.
Mmmmm tuna melts and milk shakes!!!
The employees here have been very nice. The restaurant's decorationhas is very retro and inviting.
Excellent price/quality! Great service guys!
The deco is so classic America, servers are all so nice, had vegan choice for us too.
i can say this place does it for me. the staff was very welcoming and observant.
Rad diner! Don't tell your friends cause it's already too busy! Well made comfort food.
Really nice staff, had a great meal but I thought the service was so genuine and friendly.
Great place! I once saw a family pull over plus friends and they almost cleaned out the sausages. It took them almost 45 minutes to get A TON of sausages grilled up without BUNS. They then took a bunch home for themselves. I think they dropped a few hundred dollars. My German buddy gave it a thumbs up. They have all the fixins. Go next door and have a beer while you wait for your suasages to grill up. You can then bring it next door.
Not worth my time to rate the food or service. Beyond disappointed.
A great modern take on a diner. Generous servings. These guys know what they’re doing.
Great food, fun atmosphere and awesome service!
This was one of my favorite places in Franklin village. Great food, friendly staff, open all the time. It was often packed both during breakfast and dinner, and for good reason. This place is awesome, definitely try the latte’s and the pancakes!
Always great food and humble attitude from the workers..
My favorite spot to go to when i visit LA. Whatever ever happened to that pretty mixed lady that use to work there forever, years ago. I shouldve asked her out :)
This place is open really late and food is pretty good. I really liked their waffle. The one thing I will say is they dont know what hashbrowns are.
Overpriced, average food. Charged me $1.00 for salsa condiment. Also added 4% surcharge for employee health insurance. Entrees are ridiculously small, in portion size. Good service, however.
If your from out of town and in need of a good place to go, head over to the 101 Coffee shop diner. Try the Cajun fish and eggs, delicious!
Normally, I hit up a diner for breakfast, but since I had limited time in LA and wanted to check out as many diners as I could so my family and I went to CH 101 for dinner. The place is super cool inside and the scene was enjoyable. I liked the Portobello sandwich but the fries were marginal. My wife and both kids gave the food thumbs down. Plus, bottled beer is $8.
This place is a must eat for any occasion.
Delicious breakfasts and the best burgers in town! Wonderful service too.
Fun and friendly.
I love this place. Always great diner food. And they keep the coffee coming!
Great diner type food
Super cool 70's vibe, the breakfast burrito lacked eggs, there seemed to be far more beans in it. Maybe that's how it's served and it my issue. Great service and it's open late.
Food was good. Service was good. Parking was a challenge. Lol
Came in on a Thursday around 11:30. Not too busy. Our server was great. Food was excellent, genuine homemade flavor. My son had a waffle. And this is half a portion of what my wife and I split.
Oh my how loud it is in here. Having breakfast is almost unbearable as Hollywood wannabes try to out shout each other for attention.
Had a breakfast burrito, decaf coffee, and a slice of apple pie. Great service. I was surprised they had soy milk for my coffee. Has good vegetarian options.
Quick easy relaxing experience. Good food. Efficient service and open all hours. I like it and come here with my family all the time.
Comfortable, good food, parking, homemade apple cobbler. A short walk from the Monastery of the Angels.
We came here late night- a few drinks in. The food definitely hit the spot. I went with the chili cheese fries which were epic. My friends had the breakfast dishes which they really liked. Everything was delicious, but I didn’t feel so excellent after the meal...food? Drinks??? Who knows...definitely recommended regardless!
Friendly staff and delicious food, I'll definitely go back
One of my favorite breakfast spots:))
Ordinary food at extraordinary prices. I wouldn’t go out of your way. Cool throwback vibe but the breakfast was just okay. $3 thimble of tomato juice.
Great food, courteous staff, etc
First time here. Very dope place. Comfortable and welcoming feeling. Staff was very friendly.
Brownie waffle was amazing!! Looking forward to trying more on the menu!
Wonderful place! Super food :)
good place to relax and unwind. the place has a cool feel to it.
Whether you are a local or just visiting, this old school diner is a must visit. Yes, its diner food, but the experience and ambiance create the feeling that one can only feel in Hollywood. The prices are fair, and the food is pretty damn good too. Ive been here both for breakfast and dinner, and the dinner vibes with the low lighting and decor make you realize there is only one Cafe 101. Come here alone, with friends, or on a date. No matter what the vibes, it'll always be a good one.
Coffee is the only good deal here... a Belgian waffle with real maple syrup + bananas is over $15 and that’s before their healthcare benefits additional charge scheme (talk about bananas!) You can kindly have the healthcare benefits charge removed if you so wish. Tried the breakfast burrito this morning and was appalled at what I was sold for $13. You can purchase a brekkie burrito worthy of your dollar, from any taco truck fine food establishment.
The food here does not taste very good. Save your money and go else where. Don't let the name fool you, there is nothing special about this diner. The decor is somewhat retro like. Its extremely convenient as its under the motel6 and it stays open very late, till around 3am? Staffs are nice, but nice doesn't make up for the food taste. Ordered pasta, or ketchup noodles if you can call it that. Was quite soggy. Burgers well, the buns feels like they were beat up. What happened to it I wonder. The shakes are good, slightly on the sweeter side but good. If you are staying above motel6 and want a diner experience, yeah this is it but please don't think this is what all diner tastes like.
Stopped in for a cup of coffee, I was amazed at the collection of autographed Hollywood Star's photos. From the oldest to the most recent. Place just 'feels' awesome.
Excellent coconut cake and Dip with fries.
This place is a cool little coffee shop - probably built in the 50's or 60's, and it has all the classic elements of an authentic googie coffee shop: rock walls, hanging ball lamps and terrazzo floors. The food is pretty good as well (I had a cheeseburger and fries), and the waitress was prompt and friendly. It could use some refurbishing however. I noticed some tears on the vinyl booth where I was sitting, and they could also clean better. I noticed some crumbs between the cushions. Other than that, it's a cool little place to grab a bite if you're a fan of googie diners and coffee shops like me. There's not too many around anymore.
This is a nice place to sit and eat. The staff can be a little bit busy so be sure to get your server's attention if you need refills because it's likely they will forget about you. The food isn't bad as far as diners go. I wouldn't say it is anything special but it covers the bases a decent café should. Good eggs and toast. Definitely stop in if you're in the neighborhood.
Fast service and good food. Strong coffee.
I've been coming here for decades. I would normally give this five stars, but I don't like the fact this restaurant adds the "Healthcare Benefits" tax to our bill. I would rather see the prices marked-up slightly and that socialist, hippy-granola tax hidden in the product costs. The food is always good and the service...for the most part is good. This place has become a very busy place over the years. I believe that's due to a lot of exposure via Yelp, social media, etc. Parking can be a nightmare. A lot of the time, I take Lyft from my place instead of driving...depending on the time of day or night. Overall, still one of my favorite local all-American places.
The waffle brownie sundae was pretty good! I was expecting it to taste more like a brownie but it was still good! Tastes like waffle mix with a little brownie mixed in. Service was ok, it wasn't crowded or anything and it still took quite a bit for someone to come to our table.
Absolutely delicious and generous meals at late hours including late night breakfast. Make sure you follow it all up with delicious pie!
Are used to really love the spot when I lived in Beachwood Canyon but every time I go in here it’s more crowded the food isn’t as good and it goes up in price. I think there are too many tourists descending on what used to be a great café trying to s t a r g a z e on celebrities like Bill Hader and Jack Asse’s Johnny Knox. If you get there before 10 AM they still have the Mickey fits special which is around 11 bucks for two pancakes and egg and bacon travel 3 miles south and go to nicks diner on pico and La Cienega instead. Wayyyyyy better & more authentic.
The classic.....nastalgia.
Absolutely adorable! I was watching an episode of Gilmore girls and then saw this in a movie as well. I had to see it in person! I wish there were more places with this charm and decor. Food was great! Husband wished sweet potato fries weren't mixed with regular fries. Great flavor on the burgers! Would come again if in the area.
Great coffee. Good food.
Best coffee shop in this area. I would recommend them.
Cool place to go late at night, especially after going to a UBC show. Even at one in the morning, it's surprisingly full. The atmosphere has a retro diner vibe to it and it's really neat. I only got hot chocolate, so I can't comment on their other offerings, but the hot chocolate was great! I'd recommend coming here.
Great atmosphere. Super friendly service. Awesome onion rings.
This little hideout surprises me every time I go - in the best way. It's not the largest dinette in Los Angeles, but it is tasty and there is PARKING. I've come here for breakfast at early hours, brunch during busy time, and a late night bite with friends. All of these experiences were met with very courteous staff, a clean environment, and really good food.
Personally I feel this place is a hidden LA gem. While the rest of LA is waiting 30 min for a table at some trendy spot, you can usually be seated here right away. Great staff & very attentive. I usually go here for brunch. Love the Chorizo & Eggs and the Breakfast burrito. More like a dine than a restaurant, but love it all the same.
Delicious American Diner food served by friendly staff. Good sized portions. Good prices. Highly recommend
Cold waffles and burnt bacon. It was fast which should’ve meant hot food. Not a good value.
Great place. Nice outdoor dining area.
Loved the atmosphere! It has a lot of options, it's one of those places that you can eat breakfast all day long!
We stopped here on our way out of town. Excellent breakfast - waffles, omelets, hash browns. Fresh and delicious. The latte was especially good. Thank you!
Reminds me of "DOT Coffee Shop" in Houston, Texas. Laid back environment with good coffee & food ☕
Good thing closed at 3 am very late some parking too
It’s quite dark in there. The food was good, but not the best I’ve ever eaten. We’ve been there because we spent the night in the hotel that’s in the same building.
Our favorite place to eat while visiting. My son would eat here every day, every meal for the rest of his life if he could. Staff are amazing, wonderful atmosphere and delicious food!
Yummy breakfast place. No long wait. Attentive and Excellent service from the server. I love this place!
We ate breakfast over here almost 4-5 times. Like the vibe and food
It was okay. I have never been to a Restaurant where we were charged $1.11 cent for insurance for the waitresses. Has anyone ever heard of that.
Great staff and classic diner food. Sit at the bar for fast service and angled mirrors for people watching.
One of the best spots in the area. The staff was very helpful and welcoming.
Coffee very good.
Just great, dishes delicious and service perfect
Saturday breakfast was busy, service was decent, kitchen was slow, food was kind of cold and bland. I've been there before and it was excellent.
Good menu choices and very comfortable seating.
Burgers burnt. Fries greasy and soggy. Lettuce so wilted we pulled it off. Buns burnt black. We paid 10 times their worth. $15.00 each plus 4% extra added for employees health care. ( says exactly that on the receipt). On top of that fou an inch long COCKROACH under my fries! Never ever again.!!!!!
Absolutely lovely food and coffee. They have meatless options for those who care. Be warned, they don't have chocolate chips if you're like me and love chocolate chip pancakes
My favourite diner in the LA area so far. I got the Cajun fish and eggs and I was very impressed. Its enough to fill you up and it tastes great! The coffee isn’t bad either. Would recommend for anyone to come here for a good breakfast before heading off on your LA adventures
Love this place! Open 24 hours, very old school but with an urban feel. I've never had a wait here and the food is good with good portion sizes. Good place to bring the family! Lots of parking in the back.
It appeared like an American dinner and turned out to feature healthy salads, a fine beer selection and great service. Also tried the waffle and fried banana. Good location next to Best Western
So would recommend! I had been meaning to come here for years and finally got the chance. I ordered the Grand Daddy burrito, comes with mushrooms, yum! Cute old school vibe. Nice selection. Was chatting with nice worker regarding Bikini Kill
Fast. Well made. Delicious. Perfect for early morning meet!
friendly staff, 1970s decor, solid coffee house diner.
The food was yummy, and great coffee was a real plus. The restaurant still has a traditional 60s/70s look which is cool.
Food is simple and good. Excellent service and atmosphere.
Came for brunch on a Sunday and there were a ton of people! Luckily was able to find a table, but be sure to come either earlier (before 10) or wait until prime brunch time is over if you want a guaranteed table. I ordered a latte and the 101 Coffee Shop hash which came out to $17 total. The latte was good, pretty standard though. 101 Coffee Shop hash was delicious! I would definitely recommend it from the brunch menu. Service was great overall and it was a solid experience.
I love this place! Cozy and casual feel,Always great diner food and friendly, efficient staff.
Literally the worst customer service EVER. I was waiting at the register trying to order food and employees just walked past me like I wasn’t even there. I kept asking and they kept walking by. I literally called their phone from my phone and one of them walked over to answer it. That was the only way I could get their attention. So they can make time to answer the phone but not take my order when I’m RIGHT THERE?! The restaurant wasnt even full, it was half empty. It wasn’t busy. I don’t know if they’re just rude or if it was a race thing. Who knows. But I’m NEVER coming back here.
Came here on a Monday evening it was not busy at all. It was just two of us and we ordered pasta and just water. The server didn’t care about us at all, he brought us the food but not the drinks and we couldn’t even ask him again because he wouldn’t look at our table till we finished eating. The pasta was $13 or $14 but it wasn’t worth more than $3. We ate it because we were very very hungry but I do not recommend ordering pasta here. Also the whole place smelled like public restrooms. We expected so much more based on the positive reviews but it was a very bad experience.
Overall good sausages. Unfortunately, every time I go, I can't remember which ones I like and which ones I don't really like. I should really make a list. This review will become my list. But I can say that the peppers and chili are awesome as toppings. The potato salad leaves much to be desired.
Old school diner in the heart of Hollywood....ample street parking, at least on a weekday morning. It's in the same building as a hotel with paid parking. Food is delicious, reasonably priced and promptly delivered. Servers are attentive but not hovering. It was a bit loud, with so many customers, bit we could still hear each other. Points for nostalgia - it is a lot like diners were in my childhood. :-)
I ordered stake and egg medium rare and sunny side up. Hi when she brought the dish it was over easy I reminded her that this is not what I ordered she changed it then I cut my stake and it was medium well I did not want to wait for them to make it again so I just told her this is not what ordered but I don't want you to do any thing. rudely she said you ate half of stake what you want me to do.
The hipster breakfast place. Smoked Salmon hash and coffee gets your day going.
Good food and great service!
Nice place Always great diner food.I had a veggie burger with fries and it was just mediocre. I'll try again, perhaps it was just good.
Great hangout for the late night crowd...
Solid casual breakfast spot with a classic diner vibe! Food isn't epic but it's a good cheap spot with a casual atmosphere.
Food is always excellent as well as the service!
Good breakfast, but tends to be crowded and noisy and a bit overpriced.
My favorite diner in LA. When you walk in, you immediately feel like you've been transported back in time. From the large brown leather booths, to the chocolate you can buy at the counter, I love it all. The food is excellent, and the menu is modern. They even offer vegan / vegetarian options that are really delicious! The price is is very affordable considering it's in Hollywood.
My favorite spot to go to when i visit LA. Whatever ever happened to that pretty mixed lady that use to work there forever, years ago. I shouldve asked her out :)
Good food, good service, good ambiance. The hotel lobby is cool with all the pics of famous people and their signatures.
Great American diner. My favorite for comfort food.
If you make it by ten am get the Rush hour special with the great pancakes in sausage. Me and the crew sit at the counter, most times joined by Lon Chaney and Britney Murphy. Sometimes Angelina Jolie joins us when she is in between gigs. I make her laugh. I think she has a crush on me. If you come from out of town ,get the Meatloaf!!
I love their french fries! Toilet has password door so maybe it is cleaner than normal. Next to Best Western hotel, got a small parking lot for free, and need to pass their lobby, but it is worth as it has some film star photos their.
My favorite turkey burger and sweet potato fry combo meal. Also try the shakes, perfectly delicious.
Cool old school diner with excellent food and hit or miss service.
Friendly staff, yummy food, cool retro vibes!
I liked the 60's-diner feel of this breakfast joint. I brought my 9-month-old son and the counter server seated us quickly and in a place where my stroller wouldn't be in everyone's way. I had a very attentive server; she kept the coffee coming and was friendly. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was massive and delicious. My boyfriend had the Turkey club-the biggest club I've ever seen-and fries. Everything tasted great! Parking was free and easy to find, great service, great food, would recommend!
this place has a great feel to it. menu is like a cafe in boston i liked.
Nice service and great food
