This Catering is classified in the category of American restaurant.
The place is pretty good, but it's a shame they don't bring out the food hot. It's almost always lukewarm at best. Doesn't anybody care about the food being hot? I got a meatball grinder, which is fantastic, but it was served cold. It's happened over and over again. Now when I go, I ask specifically for it to be hot. They bring it out to me and say, "Uh, dude, there was a note sayin' you want it EXTRA HOT, so here it is..." but all I really wanted is regular hot food. Other than this, it's very cozy, comfortable and a nice menu. The help is usually friendly and nice.
A friend took me here and the food was great. From the braised pork grilled cheese to their version of tater tots you can’t go wrong here. They also offer take out also if you need a sandwich to take to Prescott park or other picnic place
Food was wonderful!...Service excellent! Thanks Charlotte for your hospitality! A definite must visit if your in the area!
Top Notch! Laid back Atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, large list of delicious cocktails, and food to die for. The Spudsters are a delicious fried mashed potato with choices of seasonings and dipping sauces. I could fill up on just those. The Fried Brussels were the most perfectly cooked brussel sprouts I have ever eaten. The Meatball Diavolo was phenomenal. The meatballs were so big, that I needed a knife and fork to eat it. It was so filling that I couldn't finish it. Great job! I will be returning and again and again.
I absolutely love this place
The food is fantastic and reasonably priced, especially by Portsmouth standards. The staff is great, particularly Laura, the bartender. I'd recommend the spudster (fried and seasons mashed potato balls) with any meal. I've tried several sandwiches, all delicious, but the burgers are where it's at. They're large and full of flavor, each with a unique twist.
Awesome food and drinks!
Excellent lunch. The menu contains a wide variety of different delicious meals. Mostly all different, but will not be disappointing. Literally the entire menu is good. Burgers, sandwiches, beer, and more. Stop here and try it
Great lamb burger.
The waitress gave us free fried mashed potato balls (don't remember the name on the menu) and they were AMAZING. I got their new England pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Drinks were strong and the staff was very polite.
My favorite lunch spot in Portsmouth
Great burgers! They also have "spudsters" which are deep fried bits of mashed potato that come seasoned and with dipping sauce. I have only been once, but I will definitely be going back soon!
Amazing, amazing for and atmosphere! Would go back in a heart beat!
Great spot for tasty sandwiches. Cozy place with full bar. Try the spudsters.
I recently noticed that the charge on my credit card was greater than the amount that I had authorized by $3. Not a big deal, right, but I noticed this happening fairly often with my charges at various restaurants over the past year. So I decided to follow up with the management just to let them know this is happening so they could address it within their business. I have to tell you that I was surprised by their response. They were pretty rude. With other restaurants something like this gets resolved with a phone call where the restaurant apologizes and then offers something for the trouble. After several phone calls, e-mails, and submitting proof of the overcharge to management, I did get a $3 refund. I asked if they would offer something for all the hassle they put me through, and they declined. Again, for the small amount not really a big deal, but their attitude and response speaks volumes about the management team here. I would advise that if you do business here, you should check your credit card statement carefully as they do not have a way to check that tips are accurately entered.
Wonderful food!!
Great meals and service
The pasta dish I ordered was exceptionally terrible. Due to this, I had a lot left over. Out of habit, I took it home. It will go uneaten because there is no way I am subjecting myself to that dish again.
Amazing food
Food is always on par with the best. by far best bolognese in New hampshire. The entire menu is affordable and the close atmosphere it provides allows for a more personal experience with the staff. I give 5 stars because I can't go anywhere without talking about it.
Great Menu selection. I had the Lamb Burgers which was delicious! A lot of flavor. Good tap beer selection. I look forward to trying other items on their menu! Quick efficient and tasty
Great menu selection and excellent service!
Terrible food. Terrible service.
Not always consistent on flavors or ingredients but it's always good. I get the BLT a lot (Kitchen is near my office) and it has different bread sometimes, the bacon varies, amount of ingredients, etc. Again, the end result is always good though.
Brought family to enjoy a nice lunch. Food was mediocre/passable but the issue was the service was rude, and heard the owner screaming and swearing in the kitchen. Unbelievable. Would never go back.
Our favorite spot to get sandwiches for picnics. Friendly service and delicious sandwiches and salads.
Heard great things about this Portsmouth eatery, but was disappointed both with the service and the food. Sandwiches/burgers took nearly an hour to arrive at our table and weren't with the wait: my duck burger was so overcooked as to be inedible, and my wife's turkey Rachel was meh... and noteworthy only for its stale bread. This would have been salvageable had the waitstaff returned to our table even once to check in with us. Will I give them another chance should I find myself in Portsmouth again? Maybe... but I'm in no rush.
Great food, great gluten-free options.
Almost everything can be made gluten free . The bars specialty drinks are truly crafted and exceptional. This was a true culinary treat.
Super tasty soul-food
Amazing food with great service definitely worth a little drive.
Great place for a sandwich or drink. Fun sides and small plates too!
Relaxing leave full of life . delicious food comfortable atmosphere.
very good place, very tasty and large portions in the plate, very low prices
Delicious sandwiches and friendly service.
Casual, quick and small spot for interesting food fast. I had a duck burger which was pretty yummy
I was looking for celebrity sandwich and I found this place. Just is a good place, the Portsmouth original eclectic sandwich shop. Still decent prices, not overly trendy, worth a stop for lunch or a pick up for a picnic.
Very reasonably priced with creative and broad options. Good for lunch.
Spudsters! I need tell you nothing more.
Amazing and innovative food...anything but ordinary!
Don't get upset by the service, there really is not any service here. Consider this a take out place that has seating. You are expected to pickup your food and clear your own table. Now that is out of the way - the food is great. Had the Duck Dynasty Burger, the Ribs, the Reuben, the brussel sprouts side and the beet side salad. Everything was great, with the exception of the beet salad - it was missing acid elements to brighten it, just a bit bland. Always seems bust during lunch, have not tried it later in evening.
A hidden gem in Portsmouth. Simple menu, but good sandwiches and a small but decent craft beer selection on draught.
Loved this cafe, really good food and drinks, very friendly place.
Grest food. Super friendly service.
Best Ribs and Crabby Patty EVER! Server was awesome, atmosphere cool and casual, everyone I was with was super happy and looks forward to going back.
I love the lamb burger!
I have way too many great things to say about this place! After my first visit I came back a few days later to bring my SO. It was that good. The Kitchen has a casual, chill vibe - seat yourself, outside options, too - with a super friendly waitstaff. (I'm a messy eater and when I spilled on my shirt, our waitress brought over a tide-to-go with no hesitation! Like, really? Heart eyes.) Typically, restaurants with larger menus have clear strengths and weaknesses, but this is an exception. They offer a unique menu with something for everyone. Each dish is a carefully crafted twist on a classic; it's clear the cooks put their heart and soul into each offering (ours delivered our plates and even came back to check on us with a huge, humble smile when we sang our praises!) I've had the bahn mi sandwich and lamb burger, both amazing. Homemade cole slaw was fantastic. Plus, affordable prices to boot - $10-$13 for a healthy portion. I can't find anything wrong. Seriously, if you're in the area, check it out.
Best sangria and loved the turkey club
Good sandwiches, somewhat cramped dining room. Outdoor seating looked less cramped.
Fab culinary selections! Just passing thru (VT to ME) and stopped for lunch on chance encounter. Loved the Cuban Panini with side of coconut curried quinoa. And they offer one of my fav beers on tap, Shed Mountain Ale. Great find on my part!
Fantastic sandwiches! Everything is very tasty and don't forget the spudsters!
Great food but a little pricey.
This place has great stuff
Awesome flavor combinations. Try the Apu (lamb) burger or the sweet potato/black bean vegetarian burger, plus a side of "spudsters." This place never disappoints.
Bahn Mi was amazing with pork rind! I grew up eating Vietnamese banh mi so I was curious of their take- it was so delicious. The sauce was perfect and it was the best sandwich I’ve had in my month of travels on the east coast. The dressing on the coleslaw was perfect.
Healthy servings of tasty foods with attentive service in a great neighborhood atmosphire!
If you like buffalo sauce at all you need to try their pulled buffalo chicken sandwich! Its amazing!
Brussel sprouts? 5 stars, wait staff on my second visit, 3 stars.
The spudsters were great!!
I started coming here when they first opened & it's still one of my favorites. Food is always great, creative & all the staff is friendly.
Got to go!
Great food here and great industry deals everyday. Their cocktail list is impressive.
excellent food, nice service and really cheap. Everything we ordered from ribs to buffalo chicken meatballs to burgers went above and beyond our expectations! A great little spot!
Stopped by with my GF to grab a quick sandwich at around 2:20pm on a Monday. The place wasn't busy at all, and the girl at the front took our order for a roast beef sammie and a grilled cheese for dine in. 10 minutes after ordering we hadn't received our food, so we asked to change the order to take out. 10 minutes after that we still had not received the order so I asked what was taking so long. The girl at the front said, "Oh, I forgot to put your order in. It got sent when you asked to change the order to carry out. Do you want a cookie?" 5 minutes later our order is finally ready, and it's in dine in containers. I tell the kid behind the counter I changed it to take out, since it's been almost half an hour since we ordered. We got the order and went to the car. Before we left, we looked and realized they had given us the wrong sandwich. The guy at the counter even immediately knew what was wrong when we walked back in but had made no effort to correct his mistake. The food was ok, but the service was absolutely abysmal. The staff should spend more time pay attention instead of discussing what new tattoo or piercing they are going to get.
Excellent, quite enjoyed the duck burger. One of the employees told me they were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the food Network.
Really great SPUDSTERS deep fried mashed potatoes Superb cocktails
My Rating: 4.3... Featured on Triple D, The Phantom Gourmet, and by local Portsmouth foodies, there's a good reason this place has been in the spotlight so much! The Kitchen provides a diversity menu and hits home runs with most of their dishes. Service is prompt and friendly, and I said, the overall vibe is relaxed. Certainly worth a try!
Best Italian sub I’ve ever had ! And the fried spuds were amazing Deff worth the stop !!!
Order online for lunch pickup. I love The Kitchen's food and using the online system lets me pay when I order, then stroll in to pick up my food and bypass the lunch line. Also: SPUDSTERS.
Excellent food and Cody the bar tender is a peach, good people, good food a must if you are hungry!
Get the poutine! Seems every menu is featuring a poutine dish in the last few years, Kitchen's is without a doubt still the best I've experienced. Poached egg and sausage gravy over their homemade tots. Bacon in the Caesar is something I've done for years so I was pleasantly surprised by that. All the paninis are delicious as well. This has quickly become our go to lunch spot.
Great food, great chef
The lamb burger was Exceptional!
Gluten free options and the food was delicious. Great place for young and old!
Nice place to catch a bite to eat. Casual enviroment. Step up from a bar.
Great food and drink! Highly recommend
Great unique eats. Really chill atmosphere.
Always great food and atmosphere at The Kitchen.
Loved it. Another triple D gem
Small cafe. Great, unique food. Friendly staff.
4 star food with 1 star service. I go here frequently but the senseless excuses for taking forever with a simple order are just unacceptable.
A fantastic small restaurant in a thriving Portsmouth neighborhood. The Kitchen is a small neighborhood restaurant with excellent fresh offerings and accommodating for food allergies. A great selection of local beers are available (my guests enjoyed them) and the seating is intimate. It has a very casual feel, as if you are sitting with neighbors or family enjoying a meal. They have a fried mash potato thing which is amazing! A must try!
Did we stop there because it was on Triple D? Yes. Was everything we ate delicious (especially The New Englander)? Oh heck yes. Does this confirm that Guy Fieri is the best? Sure does.
Amazing food, awesome service. Something for every taste and a good gluten free selection too. I will 100% eat here every time I'm in the area.
Get the ribs. You won't be sorry.
Amazing creations
Best food and inexpensive. My go to restaurant.
Highly recommend the Tuscan.
I have friends who love this place. But I sent back one dish and couldn't eat the second dish either. So, I guess it's just not for everyone. I had arugula pesto pasta and margarita pizza and I do not recommend them.
Best food in North America, it takes awhile to prepare.
Very polite
friend and i walked in around 1130 am 3-1-19 to a warm welcome place is small but cozy service was super and friendly i had a chicken Caesa wrap wow was it good very tasty and full of chicken and the coleslaw was out of this world good friend had a chicken salad sandwich said it was yummy and well made i will 100% return again with my wife very soon and will recommend this place to all my friends Great JOB !!!!
Love this place. Off the main strip in Portsmouth, which it turns out is a good thing. Great food, Cool scene
Gluten-free options, pretty good burger; didn't like the "spudster" fries
Best sandwich that 've ever eaten. Sandwich was the French Dip.
The short rib grilled cheese is out of this world.
Like the new table service!
This place has some really good eats. Definitely have to have the spudsters. So good!
The Kitchen is one of the best spots on the seacoast! When we first moved here we just saw it on the way to our new apartment, and figured it was a good place to grab something, ANYTHING to eat as we were starving from a full day of moving. We got the Caesar with curry turkey, and a Cuban sandwich to share. Oh man, what a meal! We both are in utter silence as we wolfed down our food sitting on lawn chairs surrounded by boxes in an otherwise empty apartment haha. That was 5 years ago, and I still remember what we are the first time, that should tell you something. My personal favorites in no particular order: French Dip (best I've ever had) Curry turkey (wrap or salad, doesn't matter) Duck burger Cuban (again, best outside of Miami) My wife's favorites: Cuban (her default, go-to) Meatball sub Curry turkey We always get some apps, their wings change a lot and are always great, try the smelts! Honestly they're one of my favorite apps. But, they're known for their spudsters, which are fried dollops of mashed potatoes and are amazing. Overall, one of our go-to's in Portsmouth, it's always in our top 2 or 3. The bartenders are great, and it's a great place to order pickup or eat at a table or bar. Amazing food, keep it up!!
Get the short rib grilled cheese and spudsters with the Cuban BBQ sauce. You won’t regret it! $8 for a Stoneface draft was ridiculous, but the meal made up for the overpriced locally brewed beer.
Food was very good, service was slow tonight. Handled gluten free well.
I got some wings and found them flavorful and juicy. Fruit punch sangria tastes like straight Hawaiian Punch. Aww yeah.
Everything is delicious. You cannot go wrong. If you want my recommendation though, please, please try the turkey club. You will never look back. The poutine is similarly rewarding.
After seeing all the wonderful reviews on WeddingWire I was so excited about using Portsmouth Catering Company to cater my wedding that, even after they neglected to respond to my initial inquiry, I refused to give up. My fiancé and I both called them and spoke with the owner, Mike, on the phone. He seemed nice enough, but promised to call us back after the first phone call and didn't. When I called again to see what happened, he apologized profusely, promised to get us in, and told me to e-mail him with availabilities in the next week. I sent a note IMMEDIATELY after our phone call, but have I heard from him now, two weeks later? That is a definite no.
Service is always so friendly and food is great! Both healthy and indulgent choices
Fresh delicious food, fun friendly staff!
My go-to dish is usually their great turkey club sandwich, which comes with fried breaded tomato slices, and crispy pork belly. The accompanying coleslaw has a perfect balance of sesame oil, vinegar, and mayo. Plenty of other delicious options on the menu too, with my other faves including their excellent lamb burger, and their tater tots.
Great sandwiches and Friendly staff
Amazing!
A long time staple of mine. The Kitchen has great food and service. My personal favorites include the Classic Cobb, Spudsters, and Matty Melt. I've heard great things about the burgers and The Rocket salad, too. They just recently opened up full-service dining, so no more need to order then wait and run to the counter yourself. Plenty of local beers and good cocktails as well. A bit small on the inside and parking can be tough in this area (no designated lot for the Kitchen), and prices are a bit on the steep side, but it's Portsmouth so maybe not.
Food was very bland. Can't change pizza. Bad experience.
Food is fine; ownership and management are sketchy people however, and as I knew more, I chose to not return.
Cozy Portsmouth eatery. Tasty food.
Great sandwiches. A little pricy.
Just absolutely excellent food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Fantastic, unique, delicious sandwiches! I'm definitely making a point to go back next time I'm in town.
Excellent customer service, cozy atmosphere and great food
The best place in the west end!
I walk in and sit at the bar. There are menu's all over the bar. You would think that means you can order at the bar like any other food place that exist...nope! So I'm sitting there for 5 minutes and it's dead, only one couple already eating their food. You think they would at least come say something, nope! Top it off with a wanna be hipster douchebag at the bar with a toothpick in his mouth and a girly ponytail...nope!
Great sandwiches!
Really fresh, very different deli style sandwiches. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great service.
Nice location and the place has some cool decor. Super tasty veggie burger and a whole ton of other menu options. Such friendly staff, one of which helped me order since it was my first time there. I definitely want to go back again.
Can walk here from the office and the sandwiches, salads and side dishes are very good
Fantastic! Food was fresh and tasted amazing! This is an order over the counter place and there is typically barely any wait to order. Highly recommend!
Comfortable and unique place. Will return
The food is always fantastic! I placed a catering order recently and they did a great job!
Spudsters were disappointing.
I was really impressed by the quality and the gluten free options. I had a Ruben in gf bread and was impressed by the portion, I had to hunch over to eat it. The mashed potato balls they fry are Also gf and the paprika Aoli that u can get with it is delicious. I ate in but they have a strong counter take out service. They also make a beet salad and I'm a beet lover. Yum
One of the best places to eat in Portsmouth. Everything I've eaten here has been amazing and the staff is really chill and very friendly.
Stopped here on our way home from Portland. We started with some spuds and dipping sauces. I enjoyed them, but my wife wasn't crazy about them. I got the Cuban sandwich which was delicious, but messy
Great meal, highly recommend
A little hipster, but super good food and friendly staff. Plus they let you dart dollar bills to their ceiling.
