Worst dealership ever. They sold me a car at night with scratches, a black car, when I came the next day the sales manager Anthony didnt seem surprised and scheduled four times to fix it and has not been able to. He then scheduled me today for a loaner to finally get it done and when i arrived they didnt have me scheduled. Aside from that i was given three versions of the contract, my salesperson arranged to pick up my car to get fixed and didnt show or call until 20 minutes after he was supposed to arrive., and the sales staff are nothing short of condescending. After screwing me over today Anthony has yet to call to apologize.

We had visited almost every KIA dealership in the Northern Jersey Area only to be "taken for a ride" with gimmicks, price offers that were more than what was online etc upon etc. When we arrived at Gateway it was no hassle- they showed us what fit into our budget, worked beyond the surface costs / deals and met us where we could afford. Since it’s a car dealership I was not at all expecting to leave, wake up the next day, go about my business and still have a smile on my face over what a great experience I had had. I’ve waited to write this review and my experience only improves. Summary: •Amazing customer service experience •Great Deal •Very Happy with the car • I’ve always bought used cars in the past and this is my first lease. • I had been to a handful of dealerships prior to with a variety of experiences so I went in with the mindset of test driving and leaving to decide between this and another car/brand that I had already test driven. • I had people to fall back on who lease consistently. • I did my Googling on leasing and numbers. • I brought my wife because she’s an excellent negotiator in comparison to myself in the sense that she’s cut throat and I’m a bit more quiet with what I’m thinking and tiptoe around what I want. She also leases. We went in, gloves on, prepared to fight off the typical salesy salesman with their three-liner pitch while standing our ground. Instead, I ended up in more of an honest discussion on the price points I needed to be at and the car I wanted to be in for that price. Which, thinking back is really the logical way to go about it but not all dealerships have this approach. Everyone we encountered (two salesman, sales manager, finance) were great. All were helpful, all of them worked with us and we honestly enjoyed talking with them. It felt more like we met them at a friends BBQ than in a dealership. They worked with us, gave us a great deal and provided a wonderful experience. Big thanks to Jon and the rest of rest of the gang!

Had an excellent experience buying my son a vehicle at Denville, Kia. After much shopping around at many places Denville made a very lasting impression on us. We worked with a young man named Nelson whom truly took his time with my son and the whole matter entirely. The premises were clean, offered free beverages and most importantly patience was key. Terrible, customer service!!! Purchased 2015 top of the line Optima. Nice car. I paid for extended warranty which includes (Gateway "SIGNATURE" loaner car program). Both times I had service done I got complete runaround about loaner car. Now today I call for service and told I'm not entitled to a lower car.!! Total BS. Paid for something they are not honoring!! Terrible , Terrible, Terrible. Take your business elsewhere.

Service has always been a challenge, but recently absolutley horrible. Given recent events im confident they charge people and then dont fix things as they indicate. My kia has had its share of problems (gps electrical issues, sunroof motor, 4 wheel drive didnt work, gas leak) more than it should for being a 2014. But LOVE the car so would have been worth it if it weren't for the following: - Pre paid oil change deal= mistake. You have to schedule in advance and then plan to wait 2 hours. -Numerous times, parts that were ordered to fix things came in wrong delaying process. (May not have been their fault.) -paid for back windshield wiper to be replaced which never was done. (Took a week and half to get car back bc of wrong ordered part for something else so I forgot all about this til it rained the next time and went to use it) -diagnostic fees. I brought my car in as sunroof wouldn't close on and off. Worked there. When I brought it home and it happened again I had to take a video for proof. While fixing motor they accidently glued my sunvisor shut! Because this was a week later, i had to make 40 min drive back to drop car off yet again. - they were going to fix it and assumed responsibility but then only patched the damage they did and they couldn't garantee the thinner patched liner wouldn't tear (even for a year.) I was worried it would tear, which fabric damage spreads- this could be expensive down road out of my pocket and could also affect trade in if it got bad. They did end up replacing it fully per my request (the right way). I picked it up, and they left the plastic damage- No big deal to me but again should have been corrected in full all together from the start. - a few months before the above, i had my car there for buttons that weren't working, a panel that was coming off and a few other things. I had to pay 60 or 90 dollars for a clip to be fixed to keep side panel up. FINAL STRAW! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE- **today panel coming off. It uncovered that they never fixed the problem I paid for. ***called to express concern not wanting to bring my car back for the 4th time in 3 months after all my headache. Service manager JOE RIBELO didnt even try to help me or let me finish my sentence. I asked for reimbursement instead of bringkng it back at this point was just going to glue it myself. He laughed saying "youll never get a reimbursement". He "already did me a favor replacing the headliner." (Yes the headliner that was ruined because they glued my visor shut while replacing sunroof motor!) He was screaming at me when i brought to his attention that wasn't a favor, that was fixing something they did. He completely didnt even try, just lost his mind. So i hung up and called kia national. Ultimately it's upsetting. Love my kia. Got 75,000 almost on it, would love to trade it in in few years but I got a bad taste in my mouth from my experience. Absolutley wouldn't go back to gateway kia in denville. If you want a kia, just go to another location! I have pictures. Hopefully when i hit post it gives me option to attach pics. If not, id be happy to email them to any1 for proof!

I leased my first car from this dealership and will never come back. Not only was the initial sales process draining and extra fees kept getting tacked on, but when we finished they ensured all other expenses were taken care with DMV, etc. but I came back a week later to pick up my plates and am charged over $100. I was extremely upset as it was not the cost that is an issue but instead their lying. When I complained about how the Sales manager & associate promised that all was paid for and completed they laughed and asked me how I could afford to lease a car but can't afford $100 more..... AND when I asked to speak with the sales manager he was already someone different from the week before. The initial sales manager we were "negotiating" with was probably not even a manager. In the end I was completely ripped off, which I know I was since as the years went on my sales associate became my friend and told me I was and how sorry he is as he no longer works there. Every time I call in I speak with a horribly rude operator who is not helpful as I am not looking to buy a new car. I also get called and mail almost every week from KIA asking to get me into another one when I have expressed how incredibly displeased I am with working with them. The only people that have ever been helpful is the Service dept. All this dealership is looking to do is suck you in so you are stuck with them and then make the rest of your time working with them miserable since they already got what they wanted from you. I advise anyone to steer clear of this dealership as I will celebrate the day I turn my KIA in.

The plates, registration etc were expedited so we would have paperwork in order before leaving, as we were driving and would be gone 2 months. My husband and I went in to this dealership today to inquire about leasing the new Telluride. We took the test drive and then sat down to discuss numbers. Backstory: we do our research. We know how much we can lease a car for. We don’t just walk in and sign a paper. When Joe, our salesman, came back to us with a number it was outrageous. We were told he would give us numbers with different options: one model vs another, sign and drive vs money down, etc. He didn’t. He presented us with a piece of paper with numbers written in marker... that was the first sign something was fishy. Backstory: we currently have a lease and would be rolling in 2500 in payments and 2400 in miles. Let me reiterate - we will be ROLLING THESE IN or paying for them in the end. The price presented to us was 649 a month for 48 months... 48 months!!! WITH 2500 down. And immediately we were asked “where do you want to be?” “If you can put the 2500 down what are you looking to pay a month?” Never were we told what the residual value would be or shown anything on real paper. When you do the math, over 4 years we would pay more than 31k for a lease on a truck with a sticker price of just over 33k. When we complained about how outrageous it was, the sales manager came over and started his conversation with “Did you like the ride?... it came out 3 weeks ago and we’ve had 24 come through here and we’ve sold 25.” Backstory: all of the trucks have a sticker on them saying “ask your salesperson about how to receive up to 6k in incentives off the sticker price.” When questioned about the outrageous price for a LEASE and the incentives, the sales manager kept saying, but we are rolling in the payments and eating the miles... let me stop you right there. YOU aren’t eating anything. WE are paying for those miles in our lease. So please explain to me WHY we could not get any incentives on the sticker price if we are paying for our payments and miles in the lease?? For that price, I could just finance the truck. That was the moment we realized we couldn’t do business with them. Salesmen like them are the exact reason why we decided to go with a car broker for our last lease. We aren’t lied to with him and we don’t have to haggle. And this experience is the exact reason we are using our lease broker, Paul for our next lease. (Like I said, we like to do our research, which is why we went in in the first place). If you’re interested in a hassle free lease, let me know and we can get you set up with our lease broker. Unfortunately when you do the math the numbers don’t lie. Salesmen do.

Got my first Kia Optima here back in August of 2013 and the people that were there at that time were excellent. I got a second car because of the way people treated me there but after a couple of years the service manager was changed , he was okay for a while but every time i went in for my usual service he started giving me a hard time about my optima. Since my car is lowered he started complaining to me that it was beginning to be a pain in the ass and that he was going to charge me extra for the service, mind you the 3 years prior i had no complaints from the original manager that was there. After my last oil change i decided not to go back to Gateway Kia Denville, so much for customer service. They wont see my face nor will i ever recommend them to anybody. Wish there was 0 stars because that's what i would have rated there service department.

Don’t Use Them! I went back to this dealership for my 2nd car since my first experience 4 years prior was so good. Boy was I wrong! All I experienced was recurring disappointment. The salesperson didn’t listen to me, put me into such an inferior model than what I had requested and never told me it had no power windows, no power locks or cruise control as the one I was trading in! I assumed it had all of those and even test drove it but being Winter didn’t open my windows or doors! I absolutely HATE my vehicle! They offered to put snow tires but would never call me back to schedule; offered remote start but never called me to schedule. I called constantly and finally had my husband call before I could schedule a service appt. After spending $12,000 they would not even give me a 2nd key! Don’t Use Them!

I'll say it: I had a great experience at a car dealership. That alone is reason enough to leave a public comment. Gateway did a great job in showing me high-quality cars and then *made* them financially affordable for my strict budget. Normally I find this type of price negotiation draining, but within 45 mins I had driven two cars before striking a deal that I couldn't believe would be profitable for them. In the end I leased a top-rated $36k car at the monthly rate of a $24k one. Would I choose them again?!? Without hesitation!! I feel like I got the steal of a lifetime, the likes of which I may never see again.

We leased a 2014 Kia Sorento about the 3 years ago from this dealership. The entire process from the time we walked in to leaving with the car took almost 6 hours. Initial sales guy was ok. Sales manager was a jerk. Finance guy....clueless. They've been sending us emails and flyers and calling us for months offering us deals on a new lease as this one is up in March of 2017. We haven't responded and don't plan to. I've purchased many cars over the last 30 years and this is one of the worst dealerships I've ever dealt with. I won't do it again.

Sales is decent, but the service experience is horrible. With the Cadenza, you are supposed to be treated like a luxury car buyer and have great service. There is free scheduled maintenance, but it doesn't cover anything other than oil changes, oil filters and tire rotations. You need them to balance you tires, it will cost you $80. The manual says to replace cabin air filter and engine air filter at 20,000 miles. They charge for it even though sales said it would be free when we got the car. The car is great, but the service department is terrible and lies. Someone there also has a mouse fetish, a wheel speed sensor went bad and they claimed it was because of a mouse chewing through the wires, at another dealer, they replaced it for free versus the $300 Gateway wanted us to pay because it turns out the wheel rubbed against the wire and went through it. Now they claim a mouse nest is behind the glove box and want $200 to clean it. They claim that if something breaks, it will be on us to fix it. Ya right! Kia can go screw themselves. I'm glad the lease is ending in 11 months. I won't service the car again at this location. They also don't provide loaners like they said they would and make a big deal about any work what so ever.

The manager Sal was especially just outstanding and very professional. Considering managers usually just sit behind the desk at most dealerships, Sal personally took the time and showed me a few different Kia make and models. I was very specific of what I wanted and what I was looking for and Sal delivered it! He made sure that not only was I satisfied but also made sure that I was content. I bought a kia soul here in september 2015. I should have either kept driving my honda until the wheels fell off, or just gone to the honda dealership down the street. I would recommend going to the honda dealership down the street. Or if you absolutely must purchase a rickety, plasticy car, the Kia in Somerville seems decent. Even though I knew which car I wanted to see from internet research, they insisted on showing me a different car first. Which was that awful green color, and belched smoke before I even made it out of the parking lot. I should have just walked out then. But I persevered, got the car, color and price point I wanted on the car I had originally come to see. The sales experience wasn't too far out of the ordinary, not disappointing enough to warrant a one star. They're friendly and excited until you sign the dotted line, and then you're a number, it's as if the air sucked out of the room once my pen hit the signature line. Fine, I accept this. The one weird thing was that the manager spent a solid 10-15 minutes pleading, cajoling and borderline arguing with me to finance through Kia instead of my own bank, even as I had my bank's check in my hand. And then as I prepared to sign, they pushed BS last-second warranties, like it's the checkout line at Best Buy. Fine, perfectly average car salesmen. The only real complaint I had was that it took 3 weeks to get the car's second key. They flipped between waiting on the previous to ship it, and getting a new one cut by corporate. Finally after a week straight of calling every day, they 'happened' to find a key blank in the parts department and cut a new one in 15 minutes. Also literally the only followup I got after shelling out $18k was a biweekly email for 2 months begging for a 10 star review on Kia's internal customer satisfaction survey. There's better dealerships, on the same stretch of highway no less, and better cars out there. The impetus for this one star review is Service. The first two oil changes were free for me and went swimmingly, no complaints. The first one I had to pay for cost $39.99. They also recommended a tire rotation, for $29.99. Fine, I'll bite. Next day, I start the car and the ABS and traction control warning lights go on and stay on all day. I called the service department, and they claim that since they didn't touch the car's computer when they rotated the tires, I now have to shell out the $120 diagnostic fee for them to check out the warning lights. Because it must be a coincidence that they touched the wheels, and now the sensors located in the wheels are acting up. As if I fell off the turnip truck yesterday. Only after making waves and complaining to the service manager did I arrange for a no-charge checkup, and even then the repair form said "customer reports engine running rough" with no mention of sensors or anything. Shady. Note here that when I had a honda, this would happen occasionally, if I got new tires, or a flat, it would take 10 minutes to reset whatever computer thing had a hiccup with the ABS. No charge, by the way. In fact, I was a mechanic in the Marines in Fallujah a decade ago, and even while changing HUMVEE tires in a war zone I never disturbed the ABS sensors. Turns out it was a bad wheel bearing (on a 2 year old car?), replaced under warranty. Which is great, I'm not giving these clowns another dime.

Bought a brand new kia 2019 and made a contact and agreed on a deal then shortly after they added random fees and began taking money from our bank account. Dont waste your time i seen one car in there dealership 2013 honda accord booked an appointment and even called before 1 hour of appointment they said car still available. We went there and reported to Reception they asked us to wait will assign some rep, we sat there and after waiting for half an hour we contacted the reception again they said the car had a deposit just an hour ago and internet sales team are not aware of that. But even after 2 days i am seeing the car in there inventory in online as available, this is a cheap trick to bring people there and try to convenience us to take some other car Not a trusted business center at all

Bizarre experience. As a motivated buyer shopping with the intention to make the purchase this weekend, I was down to considering two cars, a Kia and a Honda. Went to Kia dealer to get quote. After they tried to get me to look at vehicles that did not match the model I requested and telling them I could wait for a vehicle to be transferred to the lot, the sales manager refused to give me a written quote. Good news for me is that I can now definitively eliminate the Kia from consideration. Not sure what caused them to disregard me as a customer. I will gladly take my business to Honda. SMH

I contacted this dealer through there website about a used car that I had seen on Cargurus. They responded and asked me when I could come to see it. I explained that I live two hours away and didn't want to drive that far without first seeing pictures of the car. The salesperson asked if the phone number she had on file was good to text me some photos. I said," that would be great." No text on Friday, no text on Saturday. Sunday I sent an email asking if she had tried to send pictures and got a response from someone else saying the car had sold on Saturday. Six days after the car sold, I received an email from the same Gateway Kia showing the same car as a "Limited Time Manager's Special." I contacted them again thinking maybe the car didn't sell after all. The same salesperson calls me later and asks when I can come on to see the car. I explained to her that we had communicated last week about same vehicle and that it had apparently sold. She put me on hold, came back and said it went to wholesale. Not sure what the problem is over there. Not too happy that they would have me drive two hours for a car that sold a week ago. Advertising cars that they don't even have doesn't say much for their integrity.

I like the team over there 3 years back ,but today the manager over there hurt our religious sentiment ,when asking for a quotation for the veichle he did not bother sharing one also commented "if you are on religious you should be home "being saturday and as per hindu religion it is not good to buy a veichle .I also said if I like the price I can put some money down and come back on Monday but he did not care about not a good place to give your business I drove like 60 miles to this place

Giving 2 stars only because my sales person Thomas Wall was lights out. As far as finance I asked about manufacturers warranty and Calvin looked at me and said we don’t do manufactures warranties. It was an awful prep of the car also. The circle stickers on the rims were still there and also plenty of dirty spots. Everything thing went well at first can’t complain about the price I did get the deal I wanted for the most part. The manager Ryan was cut and dry which I asked him to be being I sell vehicles also no complaints about him. The no manufacturer warranty and prep ruined any chances of me recommending people there which is sad being Thomas was a good salesman and I would’ve like to give him referrals.

He doesn't know how to treat the customers, he was rude, impolite, harsh....this gets me an impression I should never buy/recommend Kia in my life time! Btw...The sale person should be polite and courteous to the customer and explain the possibilities of going forward with the expectation placed by the customer, some expectations from the customer may be unfair or totally unsolicited which cannot be matched with the existing trends, totally agreed...but there is a way to put forward. The sales manager here did not even know the basic etiquette on how to treat the customer coming to the showroom and breech the quality of sale person all together, totally annoyed!

I will never lease from Kia again, especially from Gateway Kia in Denville NJ. Misleading promotion(s) received by mail and cold call from dealership, which went like this. Dealer: "Bring in your existing Kia, dealer pays excess mileage and remaining lease payments." My experience. Brought my Kia Optima in with 6 months remaining on my lease. 9,000 excess miles. Dealer "we will take care of the lease payments and excess mileage." Dealer "in order to keep your lease payment the same you need to put a down payment of $2500.00 towards the new vehicle."" Huge mistake: Get anything not specifically on the lease documents "in writing." I should have asked for a piece of paper that stated "dealer pays excess mileage and remaining lease payments." Instead, I got a bill for the excess mileage $2500 + fees totaling $3150.00. Rip off. I will never lease from Kia again. These people at Gateway will rip you off unless you get it in writing. Learn from my mistake.

I have 2 cars. A Kia and someting else. When I walk into the service dept. at Kia I am greeted immediately and I am treated with respect. When I walk into the service dept. for the other car, I am ignored until I confront someone and then I am treated with disdain. I learned a lesson from this experience that I always try to pass on. Before you buy a car at a dealership, walk into the service dept. and see how you are treated. If you are not greeted and treated with respect, walk out and pay more for the car at a different dealership. If I had done this test, I would never have purchased the other car where I did . I wish that I had purchased both of my cars from Gateway Kia.

I am mixed. This was our second car from this dealership. First one was Towne Kia just before they switched to Gateway. Great experience back then with my salesperson Francisco Molina. I went out of my way to go back to the same dealership this time around for our 2016 Optima SXL. Process was easy and we were out the door and I was pleased with the deal. My sales person Robert was good and even surprised me by bringing the car over from another dealership as I did not expect the car to be there when I arrived. My wife loved the car and so we got it on the spot. A few issues.. They messed up the paperwork but went out of their way to meet my wife to fix it (had old address). They also waited the entire 20 days to pay off my trade, which resulted in me having to make a payment on a car that I didn't own. Yes I got it back but they were short on the payoff. I Had a remote start installed. The tech scratched up the interior, although minor and left behind a small mess, along with a razor blade. Yes, a razor blade... I informed my sales person and never heard back. Overall, great car. Mediocre dealership experience. I will take a bit for me to go back..... after my free oil changes are done of course.

Buyer beware! This dealership should be avoided at all costs. From the moment you enter the store you can detect a very toxic atmosphere. We were told that you will never see the same person working in the store for more than a month, the turnover is that high. This is clearly evident the moment you enter and are greeted by a snakeskin, stereotypical manager. They don't even have a receptionist! If that doesn't turn you off or wait until you see the inflated window sticker. There are two, one is the MSRP and one is their own sticker inflated by $3995 which they call an addendum. It is simply nothing more than pinstriping, loaner car service, multi point inspection and a cheap phone cable.

After an abysmal experience at Route 23 Kia in Riverdale, I had almost given up on buying a Kia at all. I had spoken to Anthony at Gateway earlier in the week and called to notify him that I was looking at another brand of car. He took the time to speak to me and offer to make up for the terrible experience at his competitor. I agreed to come into the showroom to speak further. From the moment I stepped in, the experience was like night and day. I was greeted and offered coffee and a bagel while I waited. Anthony introduced me to Tom, my salesman and assured me that he was available if there was anything I needed. Tom and I spoke about the options open to me and once I decided, he and Anthony worked to fit it into my budget. Once the terms were agreed on, Calvin sat down to explain the procedure to me and walk me through the entire process. Both he and Tom both chipped in when there was a delay in contacting my insurance company and showed nothing but class and patience through it all. In the end, I walked out of the dealership happy and confident that I had made the right choice. I could not recommend this dealership or these people enough.
